Jason Kelce says that he and wife Kylie are posting fewer photos of their kids

Jason and Kylie Kelce have three adorable young daughters named Wyatt, four, Elliotte, three, and Bennett, one. The family has always been well-known and liked at home in Philadelphia, thanks to Jason’s career with the Eagles and Kylie’s charity work. I have seen people call Kylie the Queen of Philly in multiple places on the Internet. It seems like they’ve always enjoyed a fairly respectful relationship with Eagles fans and their community.

Over the last year, however, their popularity and number of fans exploded after Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift started dating. This brought the Swifties into their lives and everyone realized how awesome Jason, Kylie, Travis, and the whole Kelce family is. Kylie and Jason were even trending on Twitter over the weekend because fans were delighted to see them living their best lives at two of Taylor’s three Wembley shows. But, an expanded audience means a higher risk for unhinged people to attach themselves, parasocially or worse. As a result of the much larger spotlight on the Kelce family, Jason and Kylie are closing ranks a bit to protect their daughters, starting with not posting a lot of pictures of them on social media.

Jason Kelce has no qualms about getting personal in public, from admitting online he doesn’t wash his feet to going shirtless at a playoff football game. The former Philadelphia Eagles center was even the subject of a documentary, “Kelce,” spotlighting his family life and his high-profile decision over whether or not to retire after the 2022-2023 football season. But his level of exposure has only increased since brother Travis Kelce struck up with Taylor Swift, a relationship they went public with in September 2023.

Now, devoted fans of the singer have adopted an interest in the Kelce family, especially Jason, his wife, Kylie, and his mom, Donna. With so many new eyes watching, Jason Kelce tells TODAY.com that he and his wife are changing the way they approach posting online about their family life.

“We were showing a lot of our kids early on on the show, not a lot, but a few clips. And Kylie and I have made a conscious effort that we want to scale back a little bit there,” he says.

Jason and Kylie share three daughters: Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1, who was born just weeks after her dad and uncle’s 2023 Super Bowl matchup. (Famously in the words of Wyatt, “Uncle Travvy winned” that game.)

The family prides themselves on being “as authentic and open as possible,” Jason Kelce says. In “Kelce,” the softer side of the NFL star is on display, with scenes of the offensive lineman reading to his young daughters, playing with them through injuries and offering them comfort after his Super Bowl loss.

“I think there’s a point where you know, showing the kids is good. But there’s another point where you don’t want to do too much of that,” he says. “For us, we’ve come to the realization, let’s not put them out there that much at this young of an age.”

[From Today]

I think this is a very wise decision, one that’s a no-brainer. They need to set much stricter boundaries. I do feel a little badly for them that they now have to consider this out of necessity, though. I wonder if they feel frustrated by it or are just still along for the ride, adapting as they need to. The Kelce family as a whole has so much more exposure now that I’ve often wondered if they feel unsafe with such a large fanbase knowing their home address. I wouldn’t be surprised if they hire security for whenever Kylie and the girls are alone, or even when they’re old enough to go to school. I truly feel that in a situation like they are in, you can never be too safe. The more anonymity they can give their girls, the better.

Hopefully, Taylor and Travis get married and grow old together. If not, the Swifties will descend upon those two and everyone in between with g@ns blazing. SM is toxic, especially for young kids.

I think it’s good practice to not put your kids faces on social media period, even if you’re not famous. I have a few friends who work in cyber security and none of them allow their kids face to be shown. That tells me something…

    • Mil says:

I keep telling that to my friends. It is not safe, and the pics could end up… well, you get the idea. Just do not post your location, pics in real time, your house, kids, anything personal. Stick to basics, never tag places, etc

I know this sounds wacky AF but someone I work with was approached by the FBI because their kid was sold on line and they anticipated an attempted kidnapping the pictures sold came from their social media posts.

I also worked with a 911 widow whose children started getting letters from creepy men after they were in the newspaper. they also ended up having to have police surveillance.

apparently they live in my town I never heard of them before they started getting write ups here and I miss the time when no one talked about them here.. i dont think I would recognize them if I saw them on the street even with that grizzly Adams beard.

So they want attention for this? For what everyone knows you shouldn’t do? Ugh.

I think they all went into it with innocent eyes starting with the Amazon Documentary. That was well before Taylor and Travis started dating. Their kids were all over that documentary. And he would pull his kids into the podcast. Because they are so freaking adorable.

Looks like they got some good media training from either ESPN or Taylor’s team. Then they realized being so transparent brings the creeps and the pedos that will fetishize his daughters. Which is gross and sick. But this is the world we live in.

Jason and Kylie will have great careers on their own. Keeping the kids safe and out of the spotlight is the best move. Just let them be happy carefree and have a safe childhood.

Exactly this! They never could have predicted the increase of interest in their lives to this level/the impact of Trav dating Taylor. The exposure is making them reconsider some things and protect the kids more.

Good for them. I also agree that they are probably getting advice from Taylor’s team.

I concur. For a football player to post a pic of wife and kids- not abnormal. Jason Kelce was a regional sports celebrity. Famous in Phili- in kind of a – great at Phili parades- and if you saw them in a restaurant a fan might ask for a pic or buy them a drink- but it is comparatively a small market.
That is pre Taylor/Travis. Now, because of Taylor/Travis – the little doc they did (probably to increase his visibility for post-football sponsorship/job opportunities)- the entirety of people interested in Travis and/or Taylor are watching. The audience has increased exponentially. And that can be scary.

Some celebrities post pics of their kids as babies/children- when the kid is grown- like for the kid’s high school graduation or something like that.
Therefore you get to show cute pics- but it does not really invade the kid’s privacy as much because the kid doesn’t look like a 6 year old anymore.

They seem like lovely people. Hope it does not create too much stress for them.

But seeing a 3 year old greet “uncle Travy” while sitting on her dad’s lap during the podcast- is insanely cute.

Famous or not, no one should post any photos of their children online. It was a shitty thing to start with, no brownie points for this one, sorry.

Because it’s vacation season, I’d also encourage everyone to wait until they return home to post vacay photos.

Don’t let people know you’re out of your house for an extended period of time.

And yeah, don’t post photos of your kids.

I’m pretty sure that Eagles fans could take on Swift’s fans if it ever comes to that. Kylie and Jason are BELOVED in the Philly/Jersey shore region.

What, is everyone going to show up after school at 3pm and hide behind their smartphones and text mean things to each other?

I hate to sound like a holier-than-thou “I don’t have social media” person, but I don’t, and one of the main reasons I quit is that you don’t know what anybody is doing with ANY of your pictures- child or adult (or pet!). You could post a picture of yourself bundled up head to toe and somebody out there might still be “amusing” themself to your image. I’m sorry that’s so graphic but you have no control over it- no matter what your privacy settings are, all it takes is one person on your list to download or screenshot your “private” image and reshare it and it’s free to the whole world.

Now with AI technology which is accessible to anyone, your face is enough for some pervert to create all kinds of disgusting content.

Good move. I’ve worked hard over the last several years to reduce my kids’ pictures on social media. I post one or two a year for the family that follows me, but otherwise, we keep our life private.
