Kylie Kelce wore a t-shirt with a photo of her confrontation with that drunk woman

Over Memorial Day weekend, Kylie and Jason Kelce took a family beach trip to the Jersey Shore with their three daughters. They went out one evening for date night where a woman drunkenly harassed them after they politely declined to take a picture with her. Kylie handled it like a true Philly girl. After the woman, Andreé Goldberg, told the Kelces that they’d “never be allowed in this town again,” Kylie responded, “I can smell the alcohol on your breath, you’re embarrassing yourself.” The interaction went viral, with just about everyone taking Kylie’s side, especially after witnesses came to her defense and explained that Goldberg was the aggressor in the entire situation. Goldberg did some half-assed apology and everyone moved on.

Well, the talk about Kylie telling Goldberg off may have died down, but that doesn’t mean her fans have forgotten about it. In fact, some of them have made it a whole thing. During a recent event, Kylie was wearing a t-shirt that had the photo of her infamous confrontation on it, along with the phrase, “Standing on business.” “Standing on business” means to stand up for yourself and stick to the boundaries you’ve set, which is what Kylie was doing when Goldberg’s drunk ass refused to take no for an answer. The shirt was a gift from fans who were wearing them at an Eagles Autism Foundation event in June.

The former field hockey player and wife of NFL star Jason Kelce, 32, was spotted at a recent event wearing a handcrafted T-shirt that features a photo of her viral clash with a woman outside a restaurant in Margate, New Jersey, back in May with the words “standing on business” added.

In a post shared on a Kelce fan page, Kylie could be seen wearing the shirt inside of an event space as she posed with fans. She wore the attire over what appeared to be a light green shirt. According to the caption of the post, Kylie had been “gifted” the shirts by her “fans who wore them” at the Eagles Autism Foundation event, where she had signed autographs late last month.

During that event, a video was captured of a pair of women asking Kylie to sign their shirts, as the mom of three then got out a Sharpie to sign them. In follow-up photos, the women showed off the signed shirts, which included Kylie’s signature and the quote “go birds” on them — a nod to her husband’s NFL team.

Jess Ortiz, one of the women who got her shirt signed, told the social media fan page that the shirts had been made by a friend of theirs who “loved Kylie Kelce standing up to that lady in the Margate video.”

The viral social media video showed Kylie and Jason, 36, heading to a date night when a woman came up to them demanding a photo with the pair. Things eventually escalated between the two women before they went their separate ways. Following the incident, the mayor of Margate, Michael Collins, issued a formal apology to the Kelces and invited the couple to come back for another “date night.”

“As a father with young children, I know as well as anyone the importance of a date night with your wife and would like to offer a redo date night with dinner on me,” Collins said in the statement on X (formerly Twitter).

Is this cheesy? Yes. Is it harmless fun? Also yes. The incident has become a meme that has transcended the interaction with Goldberg, and is now merely about standing up for yourself, which all women should do (when physically safe, of course). I really like Kylie and think she is a pretty cool woman who has handled being thrust from local fame to national fame to international fame with a very down-to-earth grace. I also have a special affection towards her because I’m a Long Island girl and I feel like we are pretty simpatico with Philly girls! In my younger days, I stood up for myself and my boundaries while out and about in the same way that Kylie did, though I think I’d have been mortified if someone put my picture on a t-shirt, haha. It’s cute that they did that, though. The whole thing is a good reminder for young women to learn the importance of setting boundaries in general.

Personally, I think that’s taking it too far. Why publicly shame this woman further? Kylie Kelce has pretty much everything most people want for in material terms and also has a (famous, endlessly lauded) husband who is often publicly drunk exhibiting bizarre antics which everyone gives him a pass for. I don’t find any of her actions necessary in this situation.

    • MissF says:

I agree 100%, frankly, whenever I hear the surname “Kelce”, I think of something cringeworthy and embarrassing, not positive and empowering.

    • Bren says:

The Kelce family are doing too much and I’m tired of hearing about them.

    • equality says:

I thought that, but maybe she was just wearing it because some fans gave it to her right then? I guess time will tell if she keeps referring to the incident.

    • Emily says:

I agree it’s taking it too far. It’s punching down.

Edit: I didn’t know she didn’t make the shirt and it was for charity. Glad Kelce didn’t bring this up again herself.

  2. ORLY says:

They need to stop using AAVE, it’s sickening now. Black folks can’t have anything without WW absconding with it.

    • Pieva says:

Who’s “they”? She didn’t use it, someone made the t-shirt and gave it to her. Perhaps the people who made it are Black folks?

      • ORLY says:

If you think black folks would have made those shorts, you don’t know any black people.
I said wtf I said, and I was obviously referring to whomever made tge shirts.

      • ORLY says:

        *shirts

  3. Pinkosaurus says:

Wow what a bunch of cranky pants commenting this morning!

A group of attendees made them up and went to a CHARITY FUNDRAISER she was hosting and she was courteous enough to sign them and take pictures with the attendees with one on, again FOR CHARITY.

I think she sounds gracious and lovely, and doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously.

    • Noo says:

+1 @pinkosaurus KK didn’t make the T shirt, a fan made it at a charity event and she put it on.

Also the original lady never actually took accountability for her action in her “apology.” I would personally give the drunken no boundary lady all the grace in the world if she had actually owned up to her bad behavior.

      • Kate says:

THIS. Are we sure the first few commenters aren’t PR hired by the rich mainline lady who only publicly apologized after a reporter found her at her chocolate shop?

  4. RRN says:

The Kelce family is milking this publicity to no end. I understand they might have been known to some….but now they have all this attention, exposure, and fame.
Taylor and Travis make a cute pair…but all this nonsense about the Kelce family is cringe pro max

  5. TextileMama says:

IMO, the Kelce brothers are an extraordinary antidote to toxic masculinity. So miss me with the “overexposure” complaints. They share their emotions without shame, and are supportive of their partners in ways that are authentic and important. I will NEVER tire of seeing them in the spotlight. Also recommend that folks listen to/watch their podcast, New Heights, on YouTube. Good human beings through and through.

    • Lucy says:

100% with you. It’s the only male hosted podcast I listen to, because it’s funny and they remind me of my brother. They make a point to shout out support and behind the scenes folks, and team mates and players that aren’t famous. Kylie partnered with dove for an awareness campaign about teens quitting sports because they don’t like how they look in the uniform. I just heard about my younger daughter’s friend, who is 9, is thinking about quitting sports because she didn’t like how she looks. Their hearts are in good places and I need to hear from ppl in the public like that because everything is such a dumpster fire.

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

I really enjoy them also and hope to never get let down. I appreciate how genuine they are. I keep saying this, because it has been so true and a tactic, that as the election nears we get lead around by distractions and lies. I know I’m not the only one who sees it, going by commentary here and a few other sites. I saw a post that captured the whole faux Biden concern: “This call from CORPORATE MEDIA FOR Biden to step down IS A RUSSIAN PSYOP. American voters and taxpayers say GO TO HELL!” In the past (feels so long ago), I would have read that as a little paranoid, but I agree with so many others that reliable journalism has been sold out for the most part. Lol. I went kinda ranty there, but there’s a huge fear of who Taylor Swift will endorse and pre-targeting anyone near her is pretty predictable and sadly useful.

    • Koots says:

This comment section has a bad case of the Monday blues.

I think the whole family has done an extraordinary job navigating the immense amount of fame they have received in the last 2 years.

    • Bean says:

I could t agree more – it’s wonderful to hear about two famous men being decent and supportive. More of this, less of the d-bag dudes.

    • ariel says:

      Well said.

    • equality says:

Perhaps Travis has changed, but he used to put out fat and ugly women jokes on SM and referred to marrying a “breeder” once. Not exactly non-toxic.

    • Abby says:

Agreed. Their podcast is the only male-hosted, and only sports-related podcast I listen to. After many hours of listening to their podcast this year, I concur. There have been so many subjects that have come up in their conversations that could have been handled one way, and they consistently show up as a good example of brotherly love, positive masculinity and appreciation for women succeeding at whatever they put their minds to.

It makes me sad to click on any CB article about the Kelces because the hatred toward them in the comments is just wild. I have been a daily reader and contributor to this site since 2008, and I just… have to not click on Kelce/swift stories sometimes because of the comments.

Also, the effort Jason and Kylie put into this autism foundation year after year is commendable.

  6. Hypocrisy says:

I’ve never been a photo or a signature type of fan. I find it strange.

  7. Pieva says:

I think that t-shirt is in poor taste. We have so much violence around the world, I do not see the need to immortalize any kind of drunk confrontation on a t-shirt. That is, of course, not on Kylie, but on her fans who thought it was a good idea to make a t-shirt like that and then more or less put her in a position where she had to either make a scene or sport it.

    • Blue says:

Well said. She could have signed the shirt but she didn’t have to wear it. If you want to set “boundaries,” as she’s being lauded for doing, she can say no. People seem to not be able to see nuance. She may be the nicest person at times but she can also be called out on other behavior. I think her husband seems cool but also a bit problematic so leave this poor other woman alone. Calling her out on her alleged drinking in public is so crass — in light of how much her husband drinks also. If he wasn’t a nationally known football player, with things he’s done, people would be like wtf?

      • Atticus says:

The “poor other woman” was the instigator and then hid behind the “that’s not who I am” non-apology. Agree it would be disappointing if Kylie was the one perpetuating the original confrontation but she wasn’t – she was humoring a fan at the charity event she was hosting and that was it.

  8. Snideysense says:

I met Kylie Kelce at an Eagles Autism Foundation event and found her to be incredibly lovely, genuine and kind. She took time to speak to every single person who wanted to speak with her (and there were a lot) and gave each person her undivided attention. I think she’s wonderful. And with all she’s done to raise money for people with autism and for girls and sports, she can do no wrong in my book. She’s also extremely tall. The end.

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

Love your comment, but mostly I had to reply because your name is sublime. I wish I were clever in that way.
p.s. thanks also to Rosie for the post.
