Orlando Bloom got a bad haircut (and a job!)

I fully admit that I have never felt any attraction to any Elf Lord, at any time. Orlando Bloom just doesn’t do it for me. He seems like a nice guy and all, and I don’t want to offend the Orly-loonies out there (you know who you are), but Orly has always seemed asexual to me. But, while he was asexual, I fully admitted that he had great hair. Used to have great hair, at least.

These are photos of Orly shooting some new scenes for his new independent film, The Good Doctor. Which, I swear, is/was the name of a television show, right? I’m thinking of The Good Wife maybe. Mixed with a little Dr. Quinn. Anyway, his hair sucks. It’s like we’re watching whatever small amount of hotness he used to have drain out of his body. Here’s a description of what this hotness-draining film is all about:

Orlando Bloom will play the lead in “The Good Doctor,” an indie drama for which Michael Pena, Troy Garity, Courtney Ford, Taraji P. Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons are in negotiations to co-star.

Bloom also is one of the producers of the Lance Daly-directed picture. The script by John Enbom (“Veronica Mars”), described as a Hitchcockian thriller, centers on a frustrated doctor trying to impress his superiors and colleagues. When an 18-year-old patient, admitted for a kidney infection, provides him with the esteem he so craves, the doctor tampers with her treatment to keep her at the hospital with him.

Pena will play an orderly who discovers the doctor’s budding relationship and blackmails him for prescription painkillers. Garity is cast as a successful, self-assured doctor, a counterpoint to Bloom. Ford plays a woman who has eyes for Bloom’s character.

Bloom continues to raise his indie film profile. He stars in Mark Ruffalo’s “Sympathy for Delicious,” which premiered at Sundance, and has wrapped production on “Main Street.” On the London stage, he recently starred in the West End production of “In Celebration.”

Pena recently wrapped “The Green Hornet,” while Garity has IFC’s ensemble film “Mercy” in the can. Ford had a recurring role on Showtime’s “Dexter,” and Henson appears in “Date Night” with Steve Carell and Tina Fey as well as “The Karate Kid.”

The good news, I suppose, is that Orly got a job. After the Pirates series, Orly only did one supporting part in three years. Which begs the question – did he not want to work, or was it that he couldn’t get any decent roles because people began to realize he’s not much of an actor? I know my answer.

I call this one, “What are you looking at, Dirt Lip?”

Something must be wrong with me because I think he looks sort of cute with this hair *gulp*

I don’t think his carrer ever really recover from being in both LOTR and POTC.

  2. Bubulle says:

Bad hair cut really ? I think he looks good and the “Good Doctor” seems to be an interesting movie. Good for him.

  3. Sarah says:

I admit, I’m a Orly-loony lol. I love him and all of his looks from elf to pirate 😉 but I’m not diggin this hair. He’s still adorable, just dorky adorable. lol.

  4. Annie says:

I think he looks adorable! It’s a nice change of pace. But then again, I like me a nerdy boy. Enough to see this movie, though? Nah. Probably not.

  5. Kayla says:

I used to be so orly-crazy when LOTR came out, I was totally a nut for Orlando, I think because he was a nice transition (For me at least) from the safe boy band crushes of childhood to the full blown celebrity ogling-he felt totally non threatening like boy bands, but a little more rugged. So I was really, really in to him for a while.

…Then I walked in to see “Troy” for Orlando, saw Eric Bana, and that was the end of my Orlando phase. Mmmm, Eric Bana. STILL so hot.

  6. Vedder says:

I don’t see the appeal at all.

  7. bo says:

    Wow.

I used to think he was a god. With this haircut he doesn’t even look half as hot as my local insurance salesman.

  8. Dorothy says:

    I think he looks cute!

  9. Exiled says:

He sort of looks like John Mayer…

  10. Obvious says:

During LOTR and POTC i was in love. I fully admit to being an Orly-loonie. And I will still look at pics of him in those movies. Now he’s adorable like a geek. which is great because i totally of the geeks.

Geeks and Dominic Cooper-btw JayBird, CB, Kaiser, I am putting in a request to hear more of Dominic Cooper. Think you might be able to work on that for me? thanks!

  11. Menace says:

He’s only hot as Legolas. Other than that, he looks too boyish.

My take on the movie sitch is he can be choosey, as he’s super-rich and has enough money that he can bang his Victoria’s Secret girlfriend all day rather than act.

  12. lolo says:

i love the dorks. i hope he really is one and walks past my house one day. i’ll deff call him in for a cup o tea 😉

  13. Emily says:

I used to love him in LOTR. But maybe that’s because he was very girly looking… In any case, this haircut looks like it’s for the role-his clothes look pretty dorky, too. I wonder what Miranda thinks of it?
