Survivor fans think the season 48 ending was spoiled by a careless teaser (spoilers)

The season finale of Survivor’s 48th season aired last night. Going into any finale, there are usually two contestants that are edited as potential winners. This season, fans were split between whether challenge beast Joe would win his way into the Final 3 by sweeping the remaining immunity challenges or if Kyle, one-half of the season’s strategic duo, would emerge victorious. Well, CBS took away some of the suspense away from viewers. In a promo that first aired over the weekend, it revealed at least one spoiler and potentially another one. In one clip, Mitch is clearly visible on the jury, which means he does not make it to the final three. Another clip showed Kamilla with the immunity necklace around her neck.

Survivor fans may have outwit, outlast, and outplayed the show’s editors.

Ahead of the reality competition series’ season 48 finale May 21—which will see Joe Hunter, Eva Erickson, Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu and Mitch Guerra go head-to-head—viewers have started to suspect CBS accidentally gave away the ending. In a sneak peek shared ahead of the finale, two subtle details seemed to point to a few obvious predictions.

In one clip, Mitch seemed to be walking among a few members of the ousted jury members.

“If you zoom in, it’s very clearly Mitch,” one viewer pointed out on TikTok. “We all expected that, but the fact that they literally spoiled it in a promo is wild.”

And while some fans think this is a clear indicator that Mitch will be eliminated, others suspect that the show’s producers are just trying to throw viewers off.

“A part of me thinks this might still be a fake out,” one user wrote on X. “It’s just rlly funny.”

Fans pointed out another spoiler with Kamilla, who was seen wearing an immunity necklace, which would mean Kamilla is among the final three contenders to win the million-dollar prize.

“It aligns with my guesses and what I hoped to see, but come on Survivor,” another user wrote on X May 19. “I’m at least happy not to know which challenge Kamilla wins immunity for.”

While everyone basically accepted the Mitch clip, there was some doubt about Kamilla’s placing heading into the finale. We know now that both clips were spoilery, but to be fair, Mitch going home at final 5 wasn’t really a spoiler to anyone paying attention all season. He didn’t get a lot of screen time post-merge other than to drop a few confessionals about how now was the time to finally make a move. Kamilla winning immunity WAS a huge spoiler. I was at a finale party at a friend’s house and it did kind of ruin the moment for most of us who had seen the promo because her come-from-waaaaay-behind win was pretty epic.

That said, those spoilers were revealed within the first hour of a three-hour finale, so there was still more competition to go. In the end, Kyle emerged victorious while the biggest shocker was Joe finishing in third. I think the biggest spoiler for me happened during Final Tribal Council. As soon as Kamilla mouthed to Kyle, ”I got you” right before that mic-drop question-and-answer, I just knew that he was going to win. Shauhin’s vigorous nodding was a dead giveaway as well. I’m really happy that Kyle won and have so much respect for Kamilla for not being bitter, and choosing to advocate for him instead.

So happy Kyle won!!! I think Kamilla did some campaigning too when she got to Ponderosa because they were such under the radar schemers I was afraid the jury wouldn’t appreciate just how strategic and clever they had been. I love these guys, hope they stay bff.

I agree! I really wanted to see both Kamilla and Kyle in the final 3 (even though that could have split their votes) because I wanted to hear Kamilla present her case to the jury and I wanted her to win! But I was so happy for Kyle in the end. Out of the final 3, he earned the most. I also hope that Kamilla and Kyle will be lifelong friends; I just loved their dynamic. Their partnership was the highlight of an otherwise painfully boring season.

What a great season! So many twists and surprises, and great casting. I was really rooting for Kamilla, her game was excellent.
