Brooklyn Beckham got an engagement ring for Nicola after less than six months

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham cover the latest issue of Glamour Germany, “The Love Issue.” Interesting timing, absolutely, but Nicola and Brooklyn have always done magazine cover interviews for no apparent reason. Like, they’re rarely promoting anything specific, they’re just generally talkative and ready to put their marriage in the public sphere. That being said, I didn’t hate this piece. They genuinely seem well-suited for each other – I think Brooklyn enjoys the fact that Nicola is more ambitious and driven, and she enjoys that he’s easy-going. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:

Why they both changed their surname to Peltz-Beckham:
Nicola:
“We really wanted to share the same name. For us, but also for our future babies. For me, it really mattered. Especially as a woman. If you don’t want to give up your name, combining them is a good solution.”
Brooklyn: “We thought it was sweet. Especially thinking ahead, to when we have kids. Just imagine a bunch of little Peltz Beckhams running around.

Their first date in 2019:
Brooklyn:
“Not a typical dinner and a movie. We were out with friends at a club, but the energy was off. So we left and drove to the beach. Just the two of us.
Nicola: I didn’t want him staying over that night so we kept dreaming up random adventures just to stay together a little longer. It was sweet, it was chill, it just felt right.

Who said “I love you” first?
Brooklyn:
We kept saying “I miss you” for weeks, like, constantly. I think we were both scared to be the first to say it out loud.
Nicola: We finally said it in London. And we meant it.

What’s something about love you didn’t know before this relationship?
Nicola:
My parents always said, “When you meet the right person, you’ll just know.” As a kid I was like, What does that even mean? But it’s real. It’s this calm feeling, a sense of safety that takes over your whole body. I’d never felt that before.

You got engaged young—Brooklyn, you were 21 when you proposed and Nicola 25—and very soon after you met. Can you talk about that?
Nicola:
We got engaged after six months. But Brooklyn had the ring way before that.
Brooklyn: I knew after three months that I wanted to marry her. I always knew I wanted to marry young—and when I met Nicola, I was just sure. But with COVID, I waited until our families could be part of it.
Nicola: I honestly had no idea—I would’ve worn a different outfit! Brooklyn planned everything in secret. I thought he was just taking me out before he flew to see his family. Only my mom and he were there, so I didn’t suspect a thing. What I didn’t know was that my brothers, sister, and dad had all flown in and were hiding nearby. After the proposal they drove up in golf carts. I cried so hard my face was swollen. I couldn’t even take a proper photo. I only really looked at the ring later.

Brooklyn, did you pick the ring yourself?
Brooklyn:
Yes. I knew exactly what she’d like—something simple, minimal, meaningful. Designing it felt really personal. I love making things like that.

Were there any special gifts on your wedding day?
Nicola:
Brooklyn surprised me with a second ring right before the rehearsal dinner.
Brooklyn: And I had our vows tattooed on me. I’ve got well over a hundred tattoos now. I wasn’t allowed to get any until I turned 18—my parents were strict about that.

Do you have tattoos too, Nicola?
Nicola:
I’m Jewish, and before I got my first one—it says “Family First” in Yiddish—I asked our rabbi for permission. We went to my dad and asked him first. He said, “If the rabbi says it’s okay, then fine. But promise me you won’t get another one.” Well, I got two more. But now I’m done.

What are some low-stakes things you disagree about?
Brooklyn:
The temperature in our bedroom. I like it freezing; Nicola likes it warm.
Nicola: Same with lighting! I love it soft and cozy. Brooklyn turns on every light. But marriage is about compromise. He cranks the AC, I layer up under blankets.

[From Glamour]

I’m with Brooklyn on temperature control – I love a cold bedroom, that way you can feel toasty and warm under the covers. But I’m with Nicola on the lighting – minimal lighting, mood lighting. I can’t stand when dudes turn on every friggin’ light. I like the “you just know” when you’ve met the right person – I’m not sure I believe in soulmates, but I’m in the “you just know” belief system. I think Nicola and Brooklyn just knew. It was a spark and everything just fit together and they’re still riding that high.

That is one of the most charisma and presence free covers I’ve seen in a long time. I’m with Brooklyn on cranking the AC, I need my room cold for me to sleep in. Like I’d love to spend a few nights in the Icehotel in Sweden I love my cold nights so much.

As an inked girlie, I think getting over 100 tattoos in such a short amount of time is going to lead to regret and some painful procedures ahead (Pete Davidson has entered the chat). What’s the tattoo age in the UK? Here in the US, NY at least, it’s 18 to get inked, whether your parents are in support or not.

    I wonder if he’ll convert.

I’m honestly not mad at this. I have no real knowledge of nepo babies that have so much wealth that working is optional. On my own I pretty much have the belief in eating the rich, but a girl can hope that they ultimately use their platform to curb fascism. But what do I know. I’m a plebian.

Best of luck! Hope they stay together as long as Brooklyn’s parents have so far!

  4. Cloukie says:

I hate to break it to these two but being married is not a personality.

  5. Amy Bee says:

They seem alright. Everybody i.e. the British press and the Beckhams should just leave them alone and let them live their lives.

  6. Sue says:

I have always thought that Brooklyn’s mom looks uncomfortable in her own skin and on the constipated side and her son looks the same all the time. It’s possible that they look more relaxed when they aren’t being photographed.

Sounds cute. Wish them well. Ac on with ideally a ceiling fan for sleep unless it’s winter and then you just open the windows. But during the day or in the rest of the house, absolutely no. I don’t like it too cold in those spaces.
