Nicola Peltz hired Jenny Afia to ‘combat the spread of misinformation’

Over the weekend, the Mail had an interesting exclusive about Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham. Apparently, they’ve hired Jenny Afia, best known to me as the Duchess of Sussex’s British lawyer. Afia represented Meghan in Meghan’s case against the Mail, and Afia won the case. “Sources” told the Mail that the Peltz-Beckhams hired Afia for help with “reputational management,” meaning… they hired a lawyer for PR purposes, according to those British sources. Well, a “source” close to the Peltz-Beckhams went to E! News and confirmed that they hired Afia, but it wasn’t for reputational management.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham are preparing for all possibilities. The couple—whose feud with Brooklyn’s family, including parents Victoria Beckham and David Beckham, has been the source of ongoing speculation—hired British lawyer Jenny Afi of Schillings law firm, E! News understands.

But despite reports to the contrary, a source with knowledge confirmed to E! News, “It’s not for reputation management, but to set the record straight, combat spread of misinformation.”

Additionally, while the same lawyer hired by Brooklyn and Nicola was previously used by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, it’s simply a coincidence. “There is absolutely no connection to Meghan and Harry,” the insider confirmed. “Schillings is a respected firm with a wide range of clients.”

“Ironically,” the source added, “the inaccurate reporting proves exactly why one hires legal counsel, to set the record straight and combat the spread of deliberate misinformation.”

[From E! News]

As I said, a lawyer of Afia’s caliber isn’t going to be used as a PR advisor – Nicola and Brooklyn are fully prepared to start suing and going to the mattresses over the British media’s coverage of this interfamily beef. It also looks like they’re quite upset about the fact that David and Victoria Beckham have done nothing to rein in the rumors and nasty stories. In fact, it often looks like David and Victoria are the source.

I don’t think it’s all from D/V side. He was a coddled entitled mommas boy who went right to a coddled entitled husboy. Neither of the two have genuinely accomplished anything of significance – without their parents names & money they would be hapless unknowns. Like them or not, D&V have legit work receipts and accomplishments – that Nicola seems to think she’s on the same plane is laughable. She just drags the boy along on a leash – does any of this sound like he’s piped in at all?

    • somebody says:

“She just drags the boy along on a leash”? Does any of this sound misogynistic at all?

      • Bells says:

        Uhhh. No.
Look, he was handed everything, allowed by Mom and Dad to flit from one pursuit (generous word there) with no threat of failure or repercussion. La la la de da… So naturally they have some degree of “hand” (fair enough, really.) Jumps over to Nicola who seems to be in the driver’s seat as well (really, has he any resources of his own?) He seems quite content to be led. (Quite NOT mysoginistic – hatred of women? Feeling superior?? Hardly.) Point is that none of the chatter ever seems to have his stamp on it – always coming from her. She looks like she’s looking for some power validation by picking these fights – as she really has none in her own right but for daddy’s money.

Funny how the Beckham supporters always use the same line the rats use – similar to the way they describe Meghan 😂

Spoilt brat she might be but Peltz is serious about this. The rats keep printing slanderous articles about her so yes, let’s have all those “sources” wide open. They want a shitfight, I look forward to having this aired in court.

Could be like Wagatha Christie II but with no settlement offer from Nicola.

Wish Meghan had done the same. So much BS has been printed about her from all these anonymous sources.

      • Agree 💯 percent @Blogger.

Sounds misogynistic to me, @somebody. Seems similar to claims about Meghan & Harry. The American temptress who seduced the addled minded English boy away from his British family. Instead of this is a marriage of like-minded individuals, who collectively have decided to separate from his parents to live their lives across in the US.

All of this started in the UK tabloids, it should have died there. Instead, it’s been a tick for a tat.

That’s a whole lotta conflation going on there. There is nothing in my comment to suggest I’m a Beckham supporter – which, in fact, I’m not, probably for the same knight-thirsty pandering reasons as the rest of you. I simply pointed out that D/V have legit accomplishments. The kiddies do not. As for @theOriginalMia … you’ve lost me trying to draw a parallel between the nepos and the Sussexes. Meghan is an educated, accomplished actor and businessperson. Her father did not buy her her roles. And to compare Harry, a combat veteran who has created international charitable organizations and withstood an arguably horrendous upbringing/family – with a little boy who got to publish a coffee table book of Photo 101-quality content and call himself an author and hasn’t displayed any capacity to self-support his lavish lifestyle is pretty insulting for a Sussex supporter. Frankly her hiring this attorney seems more like a Baldoni move – best defense a good offense.

      • TheOriginalMia says:

@Bells, I’m not sure where you are seeing in my comment where I compared Meghan & Nicola. I was very clear I (& others) were commenting on the tone/angle of the reporting on Nicola & Brooklyn.

      • jais says:

Whaaaat? Hiring Jenny Afia is a Baldoni move? Idk, I said yesterday that I had a lot of respect for Afia when she was defending Meghan,. She spoke well and seemed to have a very good head on her shoulders. And at the end of the day, the comment says that Nicola drags the boy along on the leash. I’m sorry but wtf.

      • TC says:

“She just drags the boy along on a leash”? Does any of this sound misogynistic at all?” Yup. It does. Sound misogynistic. I’m sure both Nicola & Brooklyn are equally spoilt & don’t need to “make a living” as such, given the backgrounds they come from. But it’s absurd to make it sound like Brooklyn is a child. He’s a bloody adult! Whatever mess they’re in, they are both equally responsible.

  2. somebody says:

If none of the stuff is coming from N&B or from D&V they would do well to hire Afia jointly to put an end to it all.

  3. Snuffles says:

That doesn’t mean she deserves a smear campaign. I’m not on anyone’s side. It’s private family business that should remain private. The Beckham’s are not a constitutional monarchy.

I really hope she sues the British tabloids asses off. She’s got her billionaire Daddy’s limitless funds to do it.

    • Blogger says:

This is one lawsuit I look forward to – apart from Harry’s.

Anything that brings accountability to the rats – billionaire money especially – should be welcomed since the politicians have given up on reforming them.

  4. This so very sad. Another family that really really needs to have a come to Jesus meeting to stop the press from having a field day with this situation. It’s even more sad that it could be one family feeding the stories.

  5. Dee(2) says:

When I saw that they hired her I immediately thought that they were about to start soon with some of these newspapers, and went for her because of her successful suit against the Daily Mail. Same as if they would have hired David Sherbourne.

  6. Kloukie says:

I heard horrible things about her long before she ever even met BB.

  7. Lawrence says:

@ Somebody in post 2, Huh? Wasn’t it the David and Victoria Beckham sauces that decided to and countered the story going around about how Victoria Beckham was a drama queen at her son’s wedding? Wasn’t it Victoria sources that claimed how Nicola is not a victim etc. Meanwhile, none of these sources, and most especially Victoria and David Beckham, said anything to defend Meghan or even attempt to counter the claims printed in their British tabloids about Meghan hosting Brooklyn and Nicola and how Meghan was going to pour poison in Brooklyn ears against his parents? How and where do you conclude that none of this is coming from Victoria and David Beckham? And, why do you claim it’s Nicola driving and/or is the source of all these stories?

  8. wow says:

Good for them. Lets see how they deal with how Americans take on the British press rats. I’m starting to really like Nicola. She is her own woman and backing her man. These kids might just make it after all. I thinks its wise for Brooklyn to put down a firm boundary with V&D. I’m sure they are loving parents and all families are complicated but it add a layer when they are public figures. Nicola is my kinda lady and won’t be pushed around by anyone. D&V need to go the dignified route of letting them figure it out and leave the door open. This came about over Davids bday party. HOW many times have I not wanted to see my husbands family not that i dont like them but I dont want to sometimes and not have it turn into the War of the Roses. Victoria as the mother should have just met up with them privately and left the sibling rivalry remain just that. This isn’t that hard.

  9. jais says:

I agree with Kaiser in that the Beckhams would have done well to shut down the idea that they see Brooklyn as Nicola’s hostage. They didn’t have to say they liked Nicola. But a simple statement saying, no we don’t support this misogynistic narrative in the tabloids. But they don’t want to stand up to the tabloids. Why? 3 possible reasons. 1. They’re cowards and don’t want the tabloids to focus on them which is understandable considering their history, but when it’s their son…that’s weak and kinda f-cked. 2. Maybe they agree with the reporting, so, while not coming from them, it’s still a tacit endorsement of what the tabs are saying. 3. Or they’re the source.
