Mel B is throwing a second wedding this summer so more friends can come

Mel B and Rory McPhee got married at The Crypt at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Saturday, July 5th. After the ceremony was over, Mel, Rory, and their guests moved over to Shangri-La, a fancy hotel located inside of the famous Shard building. When we talked about it on Monday, someone in the comments pointed out that their names rhyme, and now I can’t stop saying it in a sing-song voice in my head. So, thank you for that, ha.

Anyway, while the rhyming Mel B and Rory McPhee haven’t confirmed their total guest count, quite a few of their famous friends were photographed outside of St. Paul’s, including Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe, and Emma Bunton, who looked lovely in a baby pink dress. The newlyweds left the cathedral in a white carriage, but their guests were transported to the Shard in these awesome double-decker buses that read “Melanie and Rory. Just married.” I bet you that was a really fun bus ride. Well, Mel and Rory’s aren’t quite finished with their wedding festivities. They’re also planning a second wedding this summer! This time, it will be a “more informal, sexy, and beautiful” destination wedding.

Melanie “Mel B” Brown is giving her Spice Girls friends a second chance to attend her wedding. When Mel B, also known as “Scary Spice,” married hairstylist Rory McPhee at The Crypt at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on Saturday, July 5, only one of her former bandmates was in attendance. The singer, 50, recently told The Sun that she and her husband will throw a second wedding this summer that will be “more informal, sexy and beautiful,” and give guests who missed out on their nuptials another opportunity to go.

While several celebrities — including Cara Delevingne, Katherine Ryan and Daisy Lowe — made the first starry wedding guest list, Emma Bunton, also known as “Baby Spice,” was the only member of the Spice Girls group who came to support the bride.

Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm, also known as “Sporty Spice,” was busy performing live onstage at the We Love the 90 & 00s Festival in Stockholm, Sweden.

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham, also known as “Posh Spice,” opted to send well wishes to the couple on Instagram, writing in the days leading up to the ceremony, “Congratulations to you both! We hope you had the most amazing day,” and “Sending love to you @officialmelb! @rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx.”

Geri Halliwell, also known as “Ginger Spice,” was also absent.

The second wedding ceremony, per The Sun, will be a destination wedding, requiring the newlyweds to travel abroad for the bash.

[From People]

After the pictures of Baby Spice surfaced, there were definitely some people online who were wondering why Victoria Beckham, Mel C, and Geri Halliwell weren’t there. Thankfully, the answer is quite simple: they had previous commitments! (Victoria and David actually celebrated their wedding anniversary on July 4.) I do selfishly hope that we get a full reunion at the second wedding. The last time that happened was for Victoria’s 50th birthday party in April 2024. If they are all at the second party, I’m gonna need David Beckham to post more videos of them singing together, thankyouverymuch.

At first, I wondered if a second wedding was always a part of the plan due to size restrictions at The Crypt, but their website says that it has a capacity of 350. (It also says that only around 30 couples are allowed to get married there each year, so it really is very exclusive.) Now, I think they justwant to soak up all of the love and joy they can get, and who can blame them? According to The Daily Mail, Mel and Rory’s second wedding ceremony will be in Morocco. I bet you that no matter the guests, it will be one heck of a party.

Ah, everyone looks so happy and pleased to be there. It warms the cockles of my old heart.

  2. Unstrung_Pearl says:

Love that Emma B coordinated with her husband – baby pink!

  3. Nanea says:

I think it’s lovely that they’ll be taking a big group of friends to Morocco, but I’m a bit weirded out by calling this a *second*, a destination *wedding* after this ceremony at St. Paul’s.

But as long as they’re happy, I guess.

  4. Neeve says:

Why do I sense disaster in the near future. She keeps picking men that she ends up taking care of financially. She hasn’t learned.

  5. BeanieBean says:

Love the double-decker buses for ferrying the guests! What fun!

Also, no idea who these additional wedding guests are in the accompanying photos. I only recognize Emma.

  6. Thena says:

So I know Geri has moved on with her life, but I’m not sure she really wants to watch Mel B get married to another man.
