Prince Harry will likely travel to London in September, will he see his father?

Last week, two staffers from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team met with King Charles’s communications director Tobyn Andreae in London. The Mail published photos from the meeting and they got a big exclusive, straight from Buckingham Palace and Andreae. The palace did not give any specifics about what was discussed, which left people to theorize what all of this was really about. A popular theory is “it has to do with the Invictus Games coming to Birmingham in 2027.” Personally, I always thought that the Birmingham games are much too far away for all of this hand-wringing and secrecy (they’re two years away). But the Sun (of all outlets!) had a different theory: that the peace summit happened right now because Harry plans to visit the UK in September, and the summit was setting up the in-person meeting between Harry and Charles. Now… I totally believe that.

Prince Harry is ready to talk to his dad the King after approving a peace summit between their aides. Harry is said to have “given his blessing” for the talks involving two of his team plus the King and Queen’s director of communications.

They spoke about potential ways to end their family conflict, though a proposal for Harry to make a royal return was not on the agenda.

Adding intrigue to the developments, Prince William’s team were not involved in the London summit.

California-based Harry is next due to visit the UK in September for the annual WellChild events.
It opens up the prospect of meeting his father for the first time in 18 months.

In September the King should still be on holiday at his Balmoral retreat, ahead of hosting US President Donald Trump in the middle of the month. Yesterday Charles, 76 — whose cancer treatment continues — was pictured leaving a church service in the West Country.

[From The Sun]

The idea of Harry coming to the UK in September to support his remaining British patronages is not so wild (considering he’s done that for the past three years), and the WellChild Awards always schedule their events around Harry’s potential involvement. Additionally, Buckingham Palace just released their firm dates for Donald Trump’s state visit: September 17-19. It’s very likely that WellChild has scheduled their awards around that time, just as it’s likely that Charles will cut short his summer vacation in Scotland ahead of the state visit. Meaning… I believe it’s much more likely that the “peace summit” was for a potential September meeting, rather than a year-long planning for a possible meeting next summer or for 2027. Now, depending on how the dates line up, I also think Charles will once again invite Harry to Balmoral and try to isolate him there, as Charles has done many times before. They’re ALWAYS trying to get Harry alone at Balmoral… for some reason.

When i first saw this story about a ‘Summit’ my first thought was the Wellchild Awards. My guess is that the teams were brokering a deal for Harry to have security and a place to stay in September and meet with Charles in person while he’s in the UK for thw Wellchild Awards.

The IG Birmingham is two years away, too far away for a severe ill person, even the one year to go event, and I believe that Charles is severely ill. We do not know how long he has left. And with all the chatter about Charles funeral plans and how Charles treatment of Harry and Meghan could affect his legacy I think Charles and his team finally decided to do something before it is too late. Harry always attends the Wellchild awards and they arrange it around Harry, making sure that he can attend. So I find it believable that the meeting might be to prepare a meeting between Charles and Harry in September

I can see this about arranging something for september. But its fascinating to see this play out because for some reason this was done in person; not over the phone, on zoom or through email. So i can only imagine that some very sensitive things were being discussed and they didnt want any chance of technology being intercepted.

@Becks1, I wondered the same thing. Why not Zoom? And why was William explicitly omitted from participating in the discussions? And are the answers to those 2 questions related in any way?

All this PR theater of a secret meeting with two comms teams only for Charles and Harry to meet in September when Harry is in London for the WellChild Awards? That kind of meeting might happen away from cameras as a prelude to the money shot of Charles attending IG or even a photo with the grand kids.
