Jennifer Lopez effortlessly flicked a cricket off her neck during a performance

Jennifer Lopez is currently on her Up All Night international tour. She spent much of July in Europe and is in Asia now. The tour has been really well received and has sold out dates on both continents. JLo’s also been making headlines for her funny audience interactions and handling of some on-stage bloopers. Last month, she read an audience sign that said, “J.Lo, marry me?” Her response was, “I think I’m done with that. I’ve tried that a few times!” A few weeks ago, at a show in Poland, her skirt fell down in the middle of her set and she hilariously joked it off, saying she was glad that she was wearing underwear that day.

On Sunday night, J.Lo did a show in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She was in the middle of belting out an emotional ballad when a cricket landed on her chest. It then slowly crawled up onto her neck. Jennifer, however, did not cringe. Instead, she effortlessly flicked the cricket off, flinging her arm to the side and saying that it was tickling her.

Jennifer Lopez isn’t one to bug out — even when an insect is on her mid-performance.

The singer, 56, was performing during the latest show of her Up All Night: Live in 2025 tour in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Sunday, Aug. 10, when a large cricket crawled up her dress.

As she stood before a microphone singing to fans, the creature could be seen making its way up Lopez’s body, then moving to her neck. Ever the pro, the mom of two didn’t miss a note, and instead quickly grabbed the cricket, throwing it to the side of the stage.

“It was tickling me,” a smiling Lopez said to fans in front of her, then continuing to perform.

In video footage of the moment shared online by Lopez’s official fan account, the caption joked, “Plot twist: @JLo just started rehearsals for Kiss of the Cricket Woman … on stage … in real time. 😂💋🦗.”

The “Kiss of the Cricket Woman” mention was a play on Lopez’s upcoming project, Kiss of the Spider Woman, a new film adaptation of the 1993 Broadway classic that the multi-hyphenate stars in, out this fall.

In the comments section, Lopez’s fans praised the singer for not missing a moment of the show, all while staying calm and cool.

“Always a professional,” one supporter wrote, as another said, “Really fun moment but so professional at the same time! 🦗✨.” Added one other: “Handled it so well, I would have collapsed right there 😂🤍👏🏻.”

I really want to go for the low-hanging fruit and make a Jiminy Cricket joke. I’m embedding the video below. If you’re cringing at the description of it, I don’t blame you! It wasn’t that bad. It was only on her bare skin for a matter of seconds, but if that kind of stuff gives you the heebie jeebies, here’s your warning. JLo had to have noticed it within seconds of it crawling up there, but she sure did handle it like the professional diva that she is. That wrist flick at the end was perfect.

This video reminded me of when Mike Pence had the fly on his forehead for a full two minutes during the 2020 VP debate and seemingly never noticed it there. I don’t get how you don’t feel when something is crawling on you. I had to cut through my backyard to get my kids from our neighbor’s house the other day and walked right into a spiderweb. I noticed pretty quickly that there was a spider crawling on my bare arm and flicked it off in a much less graceful manner than Jennifer. I’m sure my neighbor’s security camera captured a good show. Next time that happens, I’m going to have to remember to flick that bug off like a diva.

I am loving JLo post divorce. She’s classy, smart and seems to be living her best life. With so much success. Success is the best revenge, as they say! It’s like she finally realised her personal worth, for herself. I don’t mean that she didn’t before, I’m not judging any of her decisions- we allll make choices that don’t end up being good ones. Props to her for rising from the ashes, over and over!

    A metaphor for Ben Affleck?
