People: Angelina Jolie plans to ‘move abroad’ after the twins turn 18

Most people aren’t following Angelina Jolie’s adventures in real estate, but I find it fascinating! Over the weekend, Page Six claimed that Jolie was “prepping” to sell her $24.5 million LA mansion soon. Jolie has been based in LA since late 2016, and she purchased this home in early 2017. She needed an LA home as she went through her divorce, which was only really finalized last December. Jolie’s youngest kids are the twins, Knox and Vivienne, and they just turned 17 years old last month. By most accounts, they still have one year left until they graduate from high school. So is Angelina really selling the house before the twins graduate? Not so, says People Mag. But Angelina WILL sell and she WILL move abroad.

Angelina Jolie is ready to part ways with her historic Los Angeles home. The Maria star, 50, is officially planning to “put the house up for sale” as she explores a move abroad, a source tells PEOPLE. Page Six was the first to report the news.

Jolie “never wanted to live in L.A. full time. She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad,” continues the source, referring to the star’s ex-husband Brad Pitt, 61. The exes — who reached a divorce settlement in December 2024 after an eight-year legal battle — share six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.

The source adds that Jolie “plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year. She’s eyeing several locations abroad. She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”

Of Jolie’s Los Angeles home, the source notes, “It’s a historic masterpiece and truly such a beautiful estate.”

Another insider confirms that the Without Blood writer/director is planning on selling the home after she makes some minor improvements to it.

[From People]

“… After she makes some minor improvements to it…” Ah. So that’s why all of the gossip is happening right now. She’s doing some renovations and (just my guess) she’ll put the house on the market next year, when Knox and Vivienne are closer to graduating. As for a move abroad… she still has a home/estate in Cambodia, and she once owned a home in England too, although I have no idea if she sold it at some point. Would she live in Europe? Asia? I always thought that she would end up in New York or England, but maybe she’ll go somewhere else. I would think that she will go somewhere her kids can easily visit.

  1. Michelle says:

Think she will have a permanant place in NYC. Her business is there, her son and her friends are there. Vivienne loves theatre so it’s the ideal place. She has a home in Cambodia, but sold her UK home when she got with Pitt. He wanted to live in LA. It will be so good for her to finally close this chapter and onto the next.

  2. Jegede says:

I say England will be her primary base.

It’s next to France where her godmother is based.
    No language barrier.
    Relative privacy.
Thriving theatre culture if she wants to do more producing.
She could continue her policy work with William Hague.
Easier to touch base with more European directors.

  3. sleaz says:

She’s always talking about Cambodia, so I don’t understand why she wouldn’t be there.

    • BlueSky says:

I thinks she’s being vague because of you know who.

    • Noomi says:

Cambodia is not the easiest of countries to live in, especially for a presumably single woman (sans children) in her 50s.

      • DouchesOfCambridge says:

Not at all. Cambodia has in some cities a super vibrant and close knit expat community composed of australians/NZ, canadians, american, french, english and other europeans, as well as very welcoming people. US$ is widely used, life is good in cambodia.

I want to see the house on AD open house!!! Throwing that in the universe!!

  4. somebody says:

Sounds like speculation. Even if she moves it doesn’t mean she’ll sell the house, especially if any of the children want to stay in LA.

  5. Lucy says:

Relatable. I too am trapped in the United States by a custody agreement and plan on moving abroad the moment my daughter turns 18.

  6. Erin says:

I’d lose a lot of respect for her if she moved abroad. America needs people like her now more than ever and if this report is to be believed she has a foot out the door already.

    • Brit says:

even Angelina Jolie won’t help you now. Things have gone too far, and you’ve been warned for months that this would happen.

      • Clove says:

For over a year, they were warned! If I could get out of the United States right now, I would! I wish Angelina the best and want her to be happy after being with an abuser!

      • Brit says:

Clove, I wish her the same. And at this point, all we can wish for America is a miracle.

    • GrnieWnie says:

Nah. The only people who are going to “save” the United States is the actual American people. If the majority are dumb enough to keep signing up for this, then such is life.

  7. JanetDR says:

I wish her well wherever she goes! I expect a NYC apartment and my guess is a place in the country in France.

  8. CL says:

Her LA estate is gorgeous! She’ll have no problem selling it.

  9. martha says:

Ireland would be nice. Maybe big house there and smaller one in London?
