A week ago, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement. I was surprised because… August 26 was just a random Tuesday afternoon. Swiftian numerologists quickly came up with an explanation for the timing – Tay and Trav made their announcement exactly 13 days after the proposal. Sure. Another way the numerologists could go was: 13+13=26, and obviously since Taylor’s lucky number is 13 and she’s getting married, she had to double the number (to represent Travis) and that was why she announced it on the 26th. We could do this all day. Anyway, my guess is that the announcement had more to do with the general timing of Labor Day and the football season. I seriously doubt that they’ll schedule a wedding during Travis’s season, even if there are rampant rumors that the wedding will be sooner rather than later. Well, People Mag had a good exclusive in which their sources said that the wedding planning hasn’t even started.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are enjoying their newly engaged glow.
“Taylor and Travis have been in celebration mode ever since the engagement,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. “They are not in the wedding planning phase yet. Right now they just want to enjoy being engaged and they are going to take their time with it,” the source adds. “It has been a relief not having to keep it a secret anymore, and they are glad it is out in the open.”
“They were going out to dinner and she was ready to go and he said, ‘Let’s go out in the garden on the patio and have a glass of wine before we go,’” Kelce’s dad Ed said on Australian radio’s The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma. “I think she knew something was up because as they walked out there, she could see, suddenly, there were a lot more flowers out there. These are two young people madly in love with each other, and I think this is great.”
The source close to the couple previously told PEOPLE that “both families are overjoyed. There were toasts, happy tears and everyone is thrilled for them.”
Kelce’s mother Donna has been holding onto keepsakes from the milestone moment.
“Donna is already saving little things from this time like photos, notes and flowers,” the source told PEOPLE. “She is very sentimental about it. She wants to remember every detail, so she has been holding onto mementos from their first days as an engaged couple.”
I actually have some quiet doubts about whether Donna Kelce is really that jazzed about any of this, but I think Donna is just going with the flow and she hopes everything works out. I’m doing the same! As for the wedding planning… I eagerly await some post-Labor Day briefings from Ed Kelce about all of this! No, as I said – I think the big priority for Travis right now is what will probably be his final football season. For Taylor, her priority is her new album. The wedding will probably be scheduled for next spring? I say spring because… my guess is Taylor is considering doing another tour next year to support the album? And tours usually start in the summer months.

Well, every engaged couple should their wedding go their way and have fun planning it. The most important thing is the marriage, not the wedding day.
