George and Amal Clooney hosted their annual “awards” in London this year. The Albies were started by the Clooneys and their foundation, and they stage an annual event in which “awards” are given to “fighting for justice.” This year’s winners included newspaper editor Marty Baron, Melinda French Gates, journalist José Rubén Zamora, activist Fatou Baldeh and Darren Walker. Does anyone think it’s weird that they staged this in London and not New York, which is where the previous events have been hosted? It’s sort of an admission that Trump’s America does not welcome fighters for justice. It’s also a reminder that George always had other options last year, when he wrote that nasty NYT op-ed about Joe Biden – he has homes in Italy and England, he’s rich and white and he was always going to be fine. Pity the poor Americans who are fighting a battle for justice against fascists right now.
As for fashion, Amal wore Atelier Versace, designed by Dario Vitale (the new head of Versace). Donatella Versace attended this event though. Amal’s dress is nice, and the brown plays well with her coloring. I feel like Amal still hasn’t figured out what she wants to do with her hair these days? A decade ago, her hair was amazing – she kept it really dark, and she usually rocked a big, bouncy blowout. These days, she’s been trying to do some coppery highlights, and at previous events, it looks like she’s added some stringy extensions to bulk up her hair. It was bad. But it looks okay here, even with the distracting reddish highlights.

I 💜 how George Clooney betraying 🇺🇸 democracy has made him look like a basic bitch bland White man with no more mysterious allure 😡
Why are they everywhere? He’s so smug and full of himself. He really wouldn’t be able to have this foundation if it were not for Amal. With her work and reputation for human rights, she makes it all respectable and can fund it while looking magnanimous and brilliant. He’s not. He’s a troll and a wannabe. Amal really should go back to her black hair and blown out — it’s really suited her.
Totally eclipsed by Paris fashion week.
I like the color of the dress more than the actual dress. The dress is fine, structured and classic but a little boring if not for the rich color. Her hair color is fine. I’m just tired of the long mermaid hair on almost everyone.
With regards to Amal’s hair, I wonder if maybe she’s been going gray. As a fellow black haired lady, when the grays show up, they are relentless. They’re practically neon against the rest of my dark hair. I realize she has the means to keep up with maintenance, but one thing I realized for myself is that adding in highlights masks the hell out of grays and helps me go longer between visits. Maybe that’s what she’s doing?
As someone with the coloring of snow white (black hair, bone white skin if I don’t use some type of tan lotion) those grays are BRUTAL.
Blonde here – or formerly blonde. Had to switch to light or medium brown hair dye colours because blonde would no longer cover my greys. Brutal for us all!
You could right, Jill. Highlights help tremendously and ease the hassle of maintenance, until the day finally comes when there’s just too much gray to be managed by highlights alone.
As someone with very fair skin,mid-brown hair, and super-patchy grays, I’m sure that’s what it is. Highlights blend the gray with the not-gray and give you more time between appointments. My hair grows super-fast and I’d be in the salon every three weeks if my stylist didn’t weave some strategic highlights in to blend the regrowth.
It looks like the Einspänner or Melange where I come from (speciality coffees). I love this colour – it’s the idea of Schlagobers with it that blows my mind. Sorry, it’s an obsession.
