Last week, Kim Kardashian caused a kerfuffle when, during an episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, she announced that she believes that the 1969 moon landing was faked. She also tried to convince Sarah Paulson of this conspiracy, and Kim cited TikTok as her source. Kim claimed that she had seen videos of Buzz Aldrin saying that the moon landing never happened. She was and is incorrect – there are no videos of Aldrin saying anything like that. There are, however, a million different conspiracies about the moon landing, conspiracies involving Stanley Kubrick, soundstages, moon rocks and flags. Well, no matter what party is in power, NASA always claps back on the dummies who use their platforms to doubt the moon landing. Even though the Trump administration basically wants to crush and/or defund NASA, NASA still responded to Kimmy.
NASA on Thursday pushed back against comments from U.S. celebrity Kim Kardashian suggesting that the 1969 moon landing was faked. During an episode of The Kardashians TV series that aired Thursday, the Skims founder questioned whether the space mission ever took place, and noted her fascination with conspiracy theories.
“There’s no gravity on the moon. Why is the flag blowing?” Kardashian said. “The shoes that they have in the museum that they wore on the moon is a different print in the photos. Why are there no stars?” she continued. “They’re gonna say I’m crazy no matter what, but like, go to TikTok. See for yourself … ”
Hours after the episode aired, acting NASA administrator Sean Duffy responded to Kardashian in a post including a clip of her remarks.
“Yes, we’ve been to the Moon before … six times!” Duffy wrote. “And even better: NASA Artemis is going back under the leadership of POTUS [U.S. President Donald Trump]. We won the last space race and we will win this one too.”
Kardashian has said her doubts stem from alleged past comments by Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon after Neil Armstrong, which have long circulated online in edited or misleading form, and that those videos led her to question the official account of the landing. (Aldrin, for his part, once punched a man who questioned whether the moon landings were real or not.)
After Duffy’s post, Kardashian replied with a change of subject: “Wait … what’s the tea on 3I Atlas?!?!!!!!!!?????,” referencing an interstellar comet recently spotted passing through the solar system. Duffy, who was selected by Trump in July as acting boss of the space agency, responded that it was a “Great question!” said NASA’s current observations show that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system.
“No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth,” he said, adding that he appreciated Kardashian’s excitement about the Artemis moon mission and invited her to attend the upcoming Artemis launch at Kennedy Space Center.
The exchange comes amid growing tension between NASA and the Trump administration, which has proposed deep budget cuts and agency restructuring even as it touts a renewed focus on lunar exploration.
While I understand the “meet celebrities where they are and use their fame to draw attention to underappreciated NASA scientists” of it all, I’m offended that Kim got an invitation to watch the Artemis launch after the bullsh-t she said? Like, those invitations should go to kids and adults who are passionate about space travel, space exploration and space technology. And yes, the Sean Duffy who replied to Kim is the same guy from Real World: Boston. He’s married to Rachel from Real World: San Francisco. He’s also the Transportation Secretary in addition to being the acting administrator of NASA. These people…

One sex tape. One stupid sex tape and now this family of idiots is perpetually in front of my long-suffering eyeballs.
But, but she’s a lawyer!
God help anyone who hires her to represent them. “Your Honor, I’d like to submit Exhibit A into evidence, a TikTok from one of my fans explaining why my client is not guilty. Based on this solid evidence, I also move for immediate dismissal.”
I told my niece about 5 years ago that just because somebody’s pointing over their shoulder at a wall of text while putting on lip gloss it doesn’t make it true. This particular conspiracy theory is nothing new, but people believing that tik tok videos, spliced together out of context quotes from research papers, and memes are true has been a problem for years. It’s one of the main reasons I hated, and I’m not on social media. Constantly being on Facebook pointing out to my older family members, and some younger that memes that they were posting about the government was completely not true.
There’s a lot of actual scientists that have YouTube channels, and I’m sure tiktok platforms but none of them would ever suggest that you referenced one of their videos instead of one of their peer-reviewed papers as proof that’s something has occurred. We’ve become very lazy as a society and this is the result of it. Things that are true we believe just as easily as things that aren’t true because they’re presented the same way.
I don’t believe this story. The Kardashians have made a fortune creating fake scenarios.
I agree, they are a bunch of shit talkers, drama queens and attention whores.
And Capricorn One is JUST a movie that has your dad’s buddy OJ as one of its stars, Kim.
First off Kaiser, thank you for reminding everyone that Sean Duffy is a Real World reality TV alum. Just goes to show you that once again you don’t need legit experience or smarts to run government agencies. NASA courting KK is another thing altogether. They LOVE this publicity. Gets people to Google moon conspiracies and promote their Artemis missions. KK has a large following, love her or hate her. But I too am pissed that people who love all things space, like me, would never get that type of attention from or invite to NASA.
Stupidity is being rewarded. I hate it here.
She is starting to resemble Marilyn Manson. This family sucks.
My husband works for nasa and they are hoping that this will show the WH they need their funding back!
If anything, Kim going to the Kennedy Space Center for the Artemis launch would provide content for their show so her stupid statements just gave them free publicity which I’m sure is not what she intended haha. Does anyone even watch them on Hulu?! I watched the first few episodes when Kim was still dating Pete Davidson and then lost interest. What else is there to talk about with them? People are less interested in looking like them now and it seems the baby train has slowed down with the sisters. Their relationship drama has also slowed down (and honestly, that’s gotten pretty old).
People are less interested in them because they’re all Maga except Kendall. Notice now that their God doesn’t like Black folks so they all shrunk their over exaggerated areas and they don’t cos play black people anymore.
Ah yes! I hadn’t noticed but you’re right. Now they have to stop appropriating Black culture. I guess they are trying to now appropriate MAGA culture by taking up conspiracy theories. Wonder when they will start wearing American flags all day, every day.
Please invite the entire family, shoot them into space and then LEAVE them there
She needs attention to stay relevant as she is losing influence in this new world of Tik Tok influencers who are bigger than her. She was on the Graham Norton show a week or so ago and she was just there while Rachel Zegler , Brian Cranston , and Sarah Paulson were talking about theater culture – Kim was just sitting there with nothing to add .
