Sharon Stone is currently filming her guest part on Law & Order: The Last Gasp of a Once Great Cop Shop. I mean, SVU. Some sources claim that Stone is going to be on SVU for one episode, but I’m pretty sure she’s got a multi-episode arc at least. This week we finally saw ADA Cabot (Stephanie March) leave the unit for greener pastures (greener pastures = prosecutor for some UN commission on international rape and sexual abuse). Since ADA Novak (Diane Neal) is nowhere to be seen (she was disbarred, right?), I guess Sharon Stone is going to be playing the unit’s latest ADA. Ah, yes, I see it now. Stone is playing a former cop-turned-lawyer for a four-episode arc.
I hate to say it, but Stone might not be a bad fit. But you can never tell with some of these guest stars. I was a big fan of Christine Lahti until her absolutely disastrous, vodka-soaked, faux-feminist character arc on SVU last fall. But then, you wouldn’t have thought Naveen Andrews as a smooth-operating, trust-fund-having, financial-crimes-unit cop would work out, but Naveen was spectacular, and I’m hoping he gets brought back. Kathy Griffin was wonderful as a lesbian-rights activist, but Mischa Barton (as an abused hooker) was horrible, just mind-numbingly terrible. So will Stone be a Lahti or a Naveen? I have no idea.
By the way, in additional SVU news, did we mention that Christopher Meloni is leaving after next season? UGH. I hate that. I love his character so much, and how much Det. Stabler has grown throughout the series. Oh, and Ann-Margret and Jaclyn Smith are going to be guesting too. Hmm… but what about Naveen?!? Maybe Naveen will come on to replace Meloni?!? Please, God.

i’ll stop watching if meloni leaves. with out the benson-stabler duo it won’t be worth watching for me. kind of like how i watch ER for years waiting for abbey and carter to get together and then when they finally did, he left and she went back to whathisname. i couldn’t be bothered with it after that.

I think the only thing that would save SVU at this point would be Naveen Andrews. How sexy was he? Like sex was oozing out of his pores in every scene. Hmmm… Naveen.
Sharon Stone could actually be good, but I will be upset when Meloni leaves. I just feel like all of my Law & Orders have been falling apart the past couple of years and I very much blame the writing.
a lot of guest stars have the chance to ruin the show, but as long as they have the regulars, they will be just fine. 11 seasons in and still as good as the 2nd, without missing a beat.
Oh my gawd plz let Naveen Andrews replace Christopher Meloni. As much as I will be sad to see him leave the show Naveen will definately make that bitter pill easier to swallow.

I know Adam Beach’s character is in jail but that was a miscarriage of justice IMO. They shouldn’t have given him jail time, they should have given him a medal.
OT but related: are they going to kill off Lt. Van Buren in L & O? Because if they do, I will absolutely positively never watch that show again, even though I have a mad crush on ADA Cutter and wish to hell he’d hurry up and get it on with Rubirosa.

As for Meloni leaving, well….. I agree it just won’t be the same, the chemistry between Stabler and Benson is awesome. I’m hoping that something happens between them that they can’t take back and that why he leaves. At least that will be interesting to watch 😉
Mischa Barton did a phenomenal job in her guest appearance on L&O and far surpassed Kathy Griffin in the acting department. Sharon Stone may very well do a good job, we will have to wait and see. But Meloni leaving? The show will falter if he does. Hargitay and Meloni’s chemistry is the best (and most consistently watchable) thing about the show. I can’t imagine who would be good enough to replace him.
I looooove me some Christopher Meloni, so I am just crushed that he is leaving, but not surprised. I think that besides the contractual issues, his acting skills and contributions have not been nearly as recognized as Mariska’s, who has won multiple awards for her role. I think she deserves them, but Chris has been overlooked, in my opinion. Their chemistry is fantastic, so I will be really sorry to see it go.
I think Sharon will be good in her guest spots–her acting style suits this type of thing well. Christine Lahti’s guest spot was crap because the concept behind her character and the way it was written was crap. She did well with what she was given.
Sharon can’t help but ruin it, she’s clinically insane. Even if she looks fine in front of the camera, she’ll be pulling all sorts of crazy behind it.
If Meloni leaves, it’s over anyway. L&O:CI was dead to me when D’Onofrio and Erbe went to half time (gone now?), the mothership is on its last legs and I only watch when I can because Sam Waterston and S. Epatha are still there, if only vaguely.
I have the biggest girl-crush on Mariska Hargitay. Also, the Kimora Lee Simmons adverts are killing my internet speed! Not to mention, why are she and her kids walking on the pool water? Interesting choice of effect…

Sharon Stone is a great actress and should make a large role in SVU. I love the Melloni but I think the show survive without him. Just show good stories. With a new detective series win some breathing space and a great love Olivia. This 11th season is excellent

I think Sharon will do just fine, though I do like Stephanie March’s character. I wish they had brought her back for good. I do hate to see Meloni leave. What would SVU be without the Benson and Stabler team? Hopefully, this is just a rumor, but if not, I believe Naveen would be a good choice.
I guess they really do want to Kill Law and Order SVU. Bringing Sharon Stone in should speed up the death of this show.

Did I just fail to realize how terrible an actress she is? I mean… BAD. It’s like she sees TV as a joke, but can’t get anything else at the moment, so she’s agreed to play this role for the time being. Horrible. They need to lose her, and quick! I don’t care if she is a “movie star” she SUCKS on SVU. I’m having trouble watching the show, and it’s one of my favorites.

I have been watching Sharon Stone with some interest during the last few episodes and I have to say last night in the tense seige-in-a-morgue scene she was freaking awful! She’s not won me over at all with this arc (and I had no opinion of her before this). Why did they bury the original Law and Order which still had strong stories and a great cast, and let this shell of a show drag on to a tortured death. There is not justice!!
Sharon Stone alone is awful from really bad acting to her insertion into every scene as the main, no the one and only person there and and has degraded this wonderful show.From realism to cartoon in one easy move. Is it new writers? Her tired one liners in every sentence are just gross and makes the show a cartoon. Mariska has been all but pushed out of the way and the WHOLE show is the so inappropriate and unreal. In the last show in the morgue we were cheering for the out of place Sharon Stone character to be the one shot and killed out of the scene, out of the series. Gross. Soap. Trash. Way to take down a great show!
