Princess Kate released a new video (with old footage) to mark World Cancer Day

It’s extremely easy to be conspiratorial about every single thing about and around Britain’s royal family. They are, in fact, very powerful. They are “the establishment.” They are embedded in British society and British institutions in a unique way. But the thing to remember is that they’re also staffed with sycophants and clowns and sometimes sh-t ain’t that deep. All of which to say, I suspect there will be conspiracies about why the Princess of Wales was sent out to visit a Welsh mill, a denim factory and a charity shop this week. And they’ll probably also have a conspiracy about why Kate made a video for World Cancer Day. Obviously, this has been a terrible week for the Windsors given the daily revelations from the newly-released Epstein Files documents. But again, it’s not that deep – Kate is being sent out to do her usual counterprogramming. They used to do this all the time with Kate. A bad story or sh-tty press cycle would hit, and suddenly Kate made a surprise visit somewhere. That’s all this is.

Kate probably always meant to release this on Wednesday, and she probably did the voiceover weeks ago. I’m just saying, for this video in particular, it was a happy coincidence that Kate had a video prepared for counterprogramming and distraction. I’ll cover this separately, but Buckingham Palace is currently doing the MOST to convince everyone that King Charles had no idea about the extent of Prince Andrew’s associations with Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Edward had to make that stupid statement on Tuesday, and Camilla couldn’t even walk into her event yesterday without being asked about Epstein. And Prince William is in the wind this week. They’re probably pleased that Kate is just out there, distracting people from all of that.

The pattern of that coat makes me think of the seats on the London tube.

A step up for her from curtains I guess

What conspiracy theory are we supposed to be thinking, lol? I really don’t know. At most, I’d say the Welsh visit was purposely done without any rota. Just one invited photographer. My theory would be that might have something to do with them not wanting any Epstein questions. But really the press treats Kate with kid gloves so I wouldn’t have expected her to be questioned anyways. It’s wild though to see Kate championing some welsh brands while the welsh company Meghan championed over a month ago is simultaneously being trashed for faulty bookmarks. Please.

Continuity is not a requirement for the Tabs.

i find it really interesting that the rota didn’t go to wales with her. One of H&Ms issues with being working royals was being forced to work with the rota and they were told too bad, that’s the way it goes. Except clearly not.

For the conspiracy theory – I do think sometimes sussex supporters go too far in attributing every move these people make to some deeper plot, which I think is what Kaiser means. Like this world cancer day video was probably prepared weeks ago, I dont think it has anything to do with epstein. Or people yesterday were insisting that Kate was touching the dog just like Meghan did (when there are only so many ways to greet a dog?) etc.

so here, I think the timing worked out for the royals but I dont think this video was inspired by any recent events.

Ah gotcha. Yeah I think it was already in the plans. If anything my conspiracy theory would be that after Meghan just championed a welsh business, they sent Kate out do the same in Wales, as in look I support welsh business too. That’s a better timeline. But even that theory feels like it could be a stretch, like the dog-petting thing, bc making uk brands her thing has already been going on for past few months.
But yeah, agree, why no rota? Maaaybe the rota were sent to cover Camilla and Charles instead but still I’m surprised none were invited to cover Kate bc it clearly had been planned. Or why not have some welsh journos there, someone more local. If I had to guess, KP really didn’t want Kate taking any questions for whatever reason.

Becky English posted videos of the trip to Wales including Kate making a sad attempt at using a sewing machine.
So there was rota but it was queen Becky and likely instructed to say nothing about Epstein.

The journalists asking the questions to Camilla and now Charles are likely outside of the rota.

Becky will never risk her Queen bee spot so Kate could murder someone in front of her and she would say nothing.

      • jais says:

Huh. TBH, I couldn’t tell if English was actually there or of she was just given access to some videos. For example, on the next day, she says it was a lovely morning with Camilla at the library and it’s clear. I could be wrong but I lean towards someone just sending her some videos and her posting them.

  3. Yes she has been a good little contract player out doing her thing to distract from the evil doings of her contract holders. Busy busy busy.

It was amusing to see William mentioned in a rather vague connection with Epstein, sounds more like laziness over a donation rather than anything else but it is possible that Epstein was wanting something, perhaps a DB

What I’ve come to realize regarding Kate is that the public engagements she does or even the video commercials she releases, is that she does not generate any memorable moment that resonates with me to remember her as a positively impactful woman like other royal women such as Princess Diana or Duchess Meghan.

The major thing that I associate with her is ‘her disappearance’ in 2024. The narrative was so chaotic it was inescapable and the lasting impact for me or my takeaway from it is that she and the institution lied 🤥 quite a bit about the situation. Consequently, if I had to associate her with one word it would be ‘falsehoods’. That’s her brand’s narrative – falsehoods, lies, inauthenticity. 🤷🏽‍♀️ She’s just not believable imo.

  5. Tessa says:

She’s hard to understand with the mumbling and fake accent.

  6. Harla says:

What a life for a woman to choose, being brought in as a distraction from the stupidity of the men in your world, being a shiny bauble to dangle in front of dictators in hopes of currying favor, knowing that you are not human in the eyes of so many, just a “shell” for them to wrap their dreams around. Now the life you choose will also be the life your daughter inherits, the cycle repeats ad nauseum.

  7. Lau says:

It’s going to be really awkward when Starmer’s government falls because of the man that he selected to be the US ambassador was BFF with Epstein. The Windsors will have to yell “Look away !” to distract from their own sex criminal family member.

  8. Constance says:

She wanders among these people who have lost all of their hair with her waist-length hair/wig and pretends to know just how they feel…if she had any sensitivity she would at least wear it up, she’s almost flaunting it.

    • Kat says:

That was my irst thought on seeing those photos. She really dos not have clue about people wo are really suffering.
I have a form of blood cancer which looks like it is spreading to another organ.I am going to see another specialist on Tuesday and am not looking forward to it. I am twice her age but no good days or bad days for me I have to get on with my life no matter what it throw at me.
I am afraid to say it but this woman makes me sick. There is only one person she cares about and that is herself.

  9. QuiteContrary says:

Good for her, I guess, releasing a video … but couldn’t she have done a new visit to a cancer center? That would be such a layup for good PR.

And she must be hoping the Epstein furor dies down soon or she’ll have no choice but to cut her hair and distract the rota.

  10. Me at home says:

Is it odd that she never talked about “my cancer experience” or “I found that…”? At least I don’t think she did (and don’t make me listen to it again). It was all “You are not alone….” and the passive voice.

  11. BeanieBean says:

Didn’t we see this video last year for World Cancer Day? I mean to say, it’s not just old footage but an entire recycled video?
