Benny Blanco: I smell good – even if I don’t shower every day

Kristin Batalucco smells Benny Blanco on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast
A few weeks ago, Benny Blanco debuted his new podcast, Friends Keep Secrets, which he co-hosts with Lil Dicky and LD’s wife, Kristin Batalucco. It’s one of those “shoot the sh-t” type shows that will feature interviews with their friends. Benny told The Hollywood Reporter that he joined the pantheon of famous people with podcasts because he wanted to counterbalance the content from “all the Andrew Tates and terrible people in this world.”

Shortly after their pilot episode dropped, Benny’s feet started trending on social media. Viewers claimed that they were dirty, and no, I don’t mean that in the Quentin Tarantino way. At one point, there’s a shot of Benny sitting on Lil Dicky’s and Kristin couch with his feet up and the bottom of them were filthy. After Benny’s dirty feet blew up, Selena poked fun at the whole thing by kissing his feet during the second episode. Benny’s cleanliness was brought up once again during this week’s episode with Ed Sheeran, prompting Benny to proudly declare that he’s just a naturally good-smelling individual.

Benny Blanco is coming clean about his personal hygiene. After footage of his dirty feet went viral last month, the music producer—who is married to Selena Gomez—addressed online chatter about his supposed body odor, with his longtime pal Ed Sheeran even coming to his defense.

“I’m like you, though. I look like I don’t smell good,” Ed joked on the March 10 episode of Benny’s Friends Keep Secrets podcast, “but you’re the best smelling person I know.”

Benny replied, “I know! I smell good—even if I don’t shower.”

The two went on to agree that if anyone were to face backlash over their musk, it should be Benny’s podcast co-host Lil Dicky.

“That’s like a bum hole,” Ed quipped, after getting a whiff of the rapper’s bellybutton. “Can I have something that’s going to take that smell away?”

Benny added, “Mine smells just like nothing.”

As for why the soles of his feet were covered in dirt during a past episode of his podcast, sending the internet into a frenzy? “It’s the facility’s fault,” Benny explained during his Feb. 26 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “It’s not mine.”

Arguing that he has “great feet,” the “Sunset Blvd” artist continued, “Someone zoom in on my foot. Look at that. Clean foot!”

[From E! News Online]

Benny has previously admitted he doesn’t shower every day or wash his hair when he does. He told People in 2024 “I don’t believe in always shampooing your hair or conditioning your hair. I’m really clean, but I don’t shower every day.” He went on to describe his scent as “an aroma as I’m walking by. I want it to smell a little bit like man, a little bit feminine.” Oh my freaking goodness, I would like to make a motion for famous people to stop talking about their lack of hygiene. Don’t brag about it. Don’t make people smell your stanky bellybutton. I think every PR firm should hold some sort of big Zoom meeting with all of their clients and strongly tell them, “When someone asks you if you shower daily, you say yes!” I don’t even care if they don’t shower every day, I just don’t need to hear about it. Give me some gossipy dirt, not actual dirt.

Ed is totally right in his assessment that he and Benny look like people who don’t smell good. I’m not trying to be mean! Ed gives off much cleaner vibes. During that same conversation, he told the hosts that he likes to shower twice a day, which shocked Benny. I really hope this doesn’t mean that Benny decides to shut down all of this hygiene talk by giving us some sort of proof of shower.

The hygiene Olympics are exhausting but I must say I do miss the days when this was the most controversial stuff we had to talk about in the world.

But that bathtub of queso Valentine’s gift of his doesn’t help his case. Also didn’t a fan flatout ask her once why she’s with him because he used to make fun of her and she said he’s still better than her past partners even with that, or something? Yikes.

At my work place, they stress the importance of clean hair, body, and clothes. They also discourage strong-smelling perfumes. I guess Hollywood has no such rules.

I find it absolutely baffling that
    1. for some showering = also washing your hair. I shower daily and wash my hair 2 or 3 times a week depending on the season, or how active I am.
    2. people think not washing your hair daily means you’re dirty. First of all, it very much depends on the hair type, for some washing daily could be actually harmful, not to mention how much time and effort it might require. I very much doubt someone with a regular office job, who is not physically active (gym daily, hikes and stuff like that) gets their hair dirty just by existing for 48 hours.
