Mail: Natasha Archer is copying Duchess Meghan’s aesthetic online

Last year, many people became convinced that there was a lot of bad blood amid the Princess of Wales’s split with her longtime stylist Natasha Archer. I was on the fence about the bad blood – it seemed clear that the breakup made little sense in the grand scheme of things, which definitely indicated that there was a personal, not professional, falling out between Kate and Natasha. After the split, Natasha made her Instagram account public and we learned that she had been following the Duchess of Sussex’s account, As Ever’s account, and the accounts of dozens of Meghan’s friends and associates. It was giving “stalker.” It made both Natasha AND Kate look completely unhinged. Well, here’s evidence that there are still hard feelings post-split. The Daily Mail is now accusing Natasha of “falling under Meghan’s spell.” From the Mail’s “Has Kate’s former assistant fallen under Meghan’s spell? Natasha Archer’s new business seems to have more in common with As Ever than her days at the palace.” Ooooooh.

At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking the glossy black and white snaps of a woman in a sleek blazer, with quotes about ‘creating something elevated’ were of Meghan Markle, borrowing more Silicon Valley style speak to promote her honey and jam. But look closer and you’d realise that this promo is far from Montecito shores. Rather, it’s all for a new brand set up by Kate’s former right-hand woman – who worked with the royals for over 15 years.

The Princess of Wales’ former PA certainly appears to have taken a leaf out of the Duchess of Sussex’s playbook, launching an Instagram to promote her new style consultancy with cream backgrounds and musings on ‘focusing on the details’. Even Natasha’s logo – a self-stylised cypher of her initials, NA – have an ‘As Ever’ flair to them, channelling the same aesthetic as Meghan’s palm tree emblem. Both also tout stripped back, monochrome social media feeds, featuring plenty of trendy millennial beige and ‘candid’ photography.

This week, Natasha – whose new business launches tomorrow – shared a black and white snap of herself in a modern office, with a collaged mood board in the background.

‘It begins with understanding,’ she wrote. ‘Is refined through detail and brought together to create something elevated.’ The musings are not dissimilar to Meghan’s regular posts about wanting to ‘elevate the everyday into the exceptional’ through her products.

‘I always knew that I wanted to turn these ideas into something real, and to make beautiful items that spark connection and celebrate quiet, meaningful moments,’ she has said of As Ever – inviting customers to ‘‘mimic the magic of Montecito in a way you can recreate at home’.

In February last year, the Duchess had even shared a very similar looking mood board, which served as the inspiration for As Ever.

Much like Natasha’s, which features product snaps as well as aspirational photos of champagne glasses and fashion runways, Meghan’s included pictures of food, as well as inspirational quotes.

It wouldn’t be too far-fetched for Natasha to have been inspired by Meghan; as last year, she unfollowed several Instagram accounts after royal fans noticed she was following some of the Duchess’ inner circle. After making her Instagram public, sleuths found that Natasha was following both Meghan’s Instagram account and As Ever, the former royal’s new lifestyle brand. Natasha was also following Meghan’s make-up artist Daniel Martin, her close friends Abigail Spencer, Delfina Blaquier and Heather Dorak as well as various blogs and fan accounts dedicated to the Duchess of Sussex’s fashion. She has since unfollowed dozens of accounts but still follows Sarah Rafferty, Meghan’s co-star on Suits and Emma Grede – a guest on Meghan’s podcast.

[From The Daily Mail]

I hope this gives Meghan a chuckle this week. She left those dreadful people in the dust over six years ago and they’re still obsessed with her and obsessively copying every single thing she does, says or wears. The moodboard! Natasha was once responsible for creating Meghan moodboards for Kate, and now Natasha is copying Meghan’s As Ever moodboards as she starts her own business! Moodboards on top of moodboards, copykeening on top of copykeening, psychosis on top of psychosis. Something I think about a lot is the crazy claim that Meghan “should have known what she was signing up for.” Do you seriously think that anyone could have predicted this though? That they would still be this fixated on Meghan, years after she left?

I too hope Meghan is laughing at those clowns

    • 2131Jan says:

Check out the embossed stationary header of her initials: it even LOOKS LIKE Meghan’s royal crest! Seriously, it’s bonkers! They have NO shame at all in their copying things outright like it’s their own idea(s).

  2. CynthiaFabian says:

Appropriation by an entitled Karen. What else is new? Meghan def changed the game and hats off to her for winning by SIMPLY BEING HERSELF. Imitation is the highest for of flattery!

    • Debbie says:

Naw, in this case (and after the crap Meghan has had to put up with) I think we should use the full quote, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” That’s for you, Meghan!

  3. vs says:

There is something quite strange and that speaks about insecurity and the inability to accept rejection that doesn’t reflect well on 🇬🇧 as a society…. Sometimes I wonder if it is only Royalists or even non-Royalists feel the same way? A woman left 6 years ago and they are still this obsessed? Those people are not ok

    • another cross to carry says:

Now we know for sure that kkkate was very much a co-author in the smear campaign against Princess Meghan. Things falling apart, the center isn’t holding!

  4. Most people are inspired by someone and clearly Meghan inspired people on that island. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t just respect what Meghan brought to the table instead of allowing their racism, envy and jealousy to rule them.

To be fair I too love to put together a mood board. Pinterest is fine but sometimes you need the real thing.

  5. Beff says:

She slept with Wills. It blew up her marriage and her role with Kate.

Just speculation, but why else would any of this be news. It’s the Streisand effect.

    • Me at home says:

      That’s very plausible speculation.

Another piece of speculation is that Archer, who dressed Kate and knew her sizes and other very personal things, got real with her about her ED and Kate didn’t like that. Kate has never replaced Archer, at least she hasn’t hired a new stylist (someone is scheduling Thursdays at Work and those vacations), which seems weird.

    • another cross to carry says:

Or kkkate slept with her husband! wills is into jk type.

    • Magdalena says:

It could very easily be that she, too, like one of Kate’s other assistants, got the sack for helping William to arrange assignations with one of his side pieces. Kate sacked a previous assistant for doing that.

And I think it’s more likely that Kate was the third person in Natasha’s marriage than the other way around, when one considers the extent to which Chris Jackson went to over-photoshop her photographs.

But as Kaiser has said on previous occasions, Natasha knows all the secrets…

    • Mrs. Smith says:

The general consensus on Reddit is that *something* happened between Natasha and W. That’s the reasoning as to why she suddenly quit or was fired, why there is still bad blood with K and why Natasha’s ex-husband Chris is still employed by the Wales. I will wade in to say maybe Natasha feels some kind of way about this b/c she exposed K’s instagram fixation and is now openly showcasing her Meghan-inspired styling company. I kind of doubt she was interested in W, but as we know, K will get rid of anyone who gets his attention.

      • Blujfly says:

Chris is not employed by the Wales; he is employed by Getty Images but there is no doubt he enjoys a substantial relationship with the Wales.

  6. Jais says:

Idc about Natasha emulating Meghan so much except for the fact that it’s just proof of how much Kate has colonized Meghan ‘s whole style and way of being. Whilst simultaneously planting a lie about Megan making her cry. It’s interesting that the papers are talking about this bc really it’s one degree of separation. Kate has been copy-keening Meghan for years and they never say a word. This is about as close as it gets.

    • Ginger says:

Agree. And in Spare Harry told us that Kate was afraid Meghan was going to use her fashion contacts and now we see Kate copying everything from Meghan. Kate was so nasty to Meghan and had her trashed for what she wore just to turn around and copy her exact style. What an asshole.

      • Jais says:

Right? I’m sure NA genuinely covers meghan’s style and helped Kate appropriate everything about Meghan but it’s more personal with Kate. They truly had to air out the fact that Kate thought Meghan was stealing her fashion contacts. Aint no way.

  7. SuOutdoors says:

No, no, Daiy Fail, you must have mislooked!!! How could anyone working with the Princess of Wales being under Meghan’s spell? This charismatic fashion icon who got several brands broke is enchanting her staff, infecting everyone with her coat-dress-virus! How could her staff fall for quiet elegance? No, you must be wrong. You MUST!

  8. Jay says:

Well, of course Natasha is going for a minimalist “Meghan” aesthetic, she wants clients! She sure as heck isn’t going to get people to shell out for the fussy, fusty coat dresses and hairbands aesthetic!

Interesting that someone at the Fail is taking the time to pour scorn on Natasha’s brand new business, huh? More than anything, that seems to indicate that there’s bad blood.

I find it fascinating that she worked with Kate for so many years, was apparently a trusted advisor/ unofficial stylist but was never promoted higher than a PA. If I had to guess, it would be that Natasha asked for a raise or a title that reflected her duties and was shot down.

    • Startup Spouse says:

Or there’s a separation agreement between W&K and there’s no budget for NA.

    • SarahCS says:

Maybe I’m feeling generous because the sun is shining and I finally have some time off coming but I see this more as using Meghan’s name because it generates traffic and trying to stir things up between women (Kate and Natasha) because that’s also a tried and tested tack.

      • Jay says:

Oh, absolutely invoking Meghan is for clickbait. Even the Fail knows that nobody is going to care about Kate’s former PA’s new business without M being involved in some way. But the way they are piling on here seems way out of line with their usual reporting – pointing out that Natasha was following everything Meghan did and mocking her words and website is a choice.

If Natasha were in favour with Kate, I bet that we would have another #KateMiddletonSuccessStory on our hands, where they talked about Natasha learning everything she knows about fashion from her former boss and encouraging people to support her business. Instead, they basically tanked her on the day before her business opens. Think about how other KP staffers (Jason K, for one) exited the palace softly, with praise for his “loyalty” and eventually a cushy foundation job.

  9. Jferber says:

Suoutdoors, you killed me with ” infecting everyone with her coat-dress virus.” Brilliant!

  10. Where'sMyTiara says:

They all claim they hate Meghan.
Yet they’ve never stopped letting her name drop from their mouths for 10 years. TEN.

She has not been a “working royal” (whatever that means on the Isle of Saltines) for SIX years. SIX whole ass years UK media could have obsessively covered literally anyone else, but they chose to continue to crash out about Harry and his wife because they had the courage to say “screw this for a lark” and dipped.

Six years of the British tabloid media and the scummy courtiers that drip the poison in everyone’s ears, refusing to admit that they NEEDED her, and that they are ENTIRELY responsible for the current state of affairs. Y’all showed her who you really were, KP/BP/tabs, and she believed you. Harry believed you. And that’s why they want nothing to do with your institutions built on rivalries and insecurities.

The monarchy offered a sucker bet at the Sandringham Summit thinking they were the house, and LOST.
The edifice has crumbled, the rot at the institution’s heart revealed within, and no amount of hate filled articles can distract from the self inflicted wounds now destroying the House of Windsor.

The BRF, and their skanky flying monkeys – courtiers & tabloids – need to stop lying to themselves and everyone else. Just admit none of you were right, y’all screwed up, and that you fully deserved the consequences of H&M paying you dust for the rest of your jealous little lives.

  11. Jferber says:

Again, for the love of God, why would anyone want to sleep with William? Even Kate doesn’t want to anymore.

    • Mrs. Smith says:

Yeah — that’s my take, too. I find it more believable that W was trying to make time with Natasha and K noticed. Or something like that. And K hasn’t replaced her either, which supports the idea that K doesn’t want anyone else around who can get that up-close and personal again.

  12. Amy Bee says:

I mean Kate started dressing like Meghan not in terms of style but also brands that Meghan wore. There’s no doubt that Natasha takes inspiration from Meghan.

  13. BLACK ELDERBERRY says:

Meghan appeared briefly and shook the entire BRF so much that six years after her departure, they still want to be like Meghan. They’ve started wearing the same shoes, handbags, hats, coats, and suits, they’re hugging the plebs en masse, even Anna and Karol, and recording videos, and and William is still raging with unfulfilled desires…:)… :))))) All to little avail, but they’re trying. Of course, Kate comes off the worst and most desperate, even morbidly, and after the revelation of the mass surveillance of Meghan and everything connected to her (something like 1,500 addresses), now the Middletons are going to whitewash Kate by shifting the blame onto Archer, who, as you can see, is also following Meghan’s lead, which is quite embarrassing, but I have no doubt that it was mainly Kate and her mother who spent hours tracking everything related to Meghan, and that Archer revealed it deliberately…
    Meghan has the power:))

  14. Becks1 says:

I do feel like there’s some meaning behind this. Bad blood, the Mail knows something about NA, *something*. WHO really cares about the IG of a woman who left royal employment a year ago? But I feel like something is going on here.

    • Sure says:

I wonder whether it was NA and not CarolE who fed the fake crying story to Tominey?

      • Jais says:

I still lean towards Carole just bc she already had the connection, considering the fact that Tominey attended Pippa’s wedding as a guest. But NA could have been a corroborating source. Tominey did say she only needs 2 confirmed sources to print a story.
Like us, the press knows that Archer knows a lot. Probably more than just about anyone other than maybe the nanny. And maybe they know the real reason for her departure.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

Feels like they want to bait Nat for the goss about what really went down with Kate Missington in 2024.

Unless her departure and divorce are related and this is all a proxy coverup for a scandal between N and W?

  15. YankeeDoodles says:

I’d be willing to bet this is the carrot-and-stick approach of the tabloids in action: first give someone a gushing, glowy review, so they get a hit of pure adulation, or what passes for it, at least a hit of free publicity…. And then zero in for the sharp elbow in the ribs. Knock them off the pedestal. I think the general idea is to damage her business model, or at least to make her business model hostage to their coverage… so rewards for good behaviour and punishments for bad behaviour. And the behaviour in question is all the leaks they hope to obtain from her, about the Wales’ household. That is why they use so many anonymous sources: when they’re not citing themselves, or each other, they’re paying for information that can’t pass proper attribution b/c if the source were cited by name, he/she could be sued. I’m convinced they pay Carole Middleton an annuity — a retainer — of some kind, and the deal is, they hit her up for choice quotes when news breaks that requires her insider’s line. It’s a rent-a-gob mind.

  16. Julie says:

Give it a few days then they will accuse Meghan of copying her.

  17. Giddy says:

This all reminds me of the one and only quote I remember from one of the Real Housewives shows: “I don’t know if she wants to be me, or skin me and wear me like last year’s Versace.”
    Et tu, Kate?

  18. bisynaptic says:

“Creating something elevated” is not Silicon Valley style speak.

  19. Kate says:

I’m surprised they didn’t blame Meghan for them parting ways, feels like they could be working up to it. Kate had to fire Natasha after she discovered she was purposely dressing her like Meghan totally unknown to Kate!! Kate was missing her coatdresses, but Natasha forced her to dress like Meghan, who Natasha stalked on instagram! I’m annoyed about the lack of articles on her losing her main employee when they obsess over every past and present employee of Meghan. Where are the sources now?

  20. Gail says:

She starts her business with a DYING plant?! ‘Dizygothica elegatissma’ aka False Aralia is what it looks like, though with the knot at the base it could be a Ficus Alii gone awry. Whatever the plant, it is dying, that I know for sure! And in her first post? I’m dying of laughter over here!!! Y’all have covered everything else about her post, but the dying plant is, quite possibly, a preview of what’s to come….still laughing!
