Costco food court has a new caramel and churro soft serve sundae

Back in February, Costco rolled out the Double Chocolate Mint Sundae, a limited-edition dessert in honor of St. Patrick’s Day that featured mint ice cream, cookie crumbles, and chocolate syrup. I tried it the first weekend it was released at my local Costco and it was so good. Well, all good things must come to an end, and the DCMS’s time is up. For its springtime lineup, Costco has introduced a new limited-edition sundae called the Caramel Churro Sundae. The Caramel Churro Sundae is made out of the soft serve flavor of your choosing, caramel sauce, and crunchy churro bites. Like its minty predecessor, the CCS is also only $2.99. Results on social media among people who have tried it are mixed, however.

Costco’s menu is getting a little bit sweeter.

The wholesale retailer is rolling out a new sundae flavor — the Caramel Churro Sundae — just in time for spring, according to their social media posts.

The new sundae is made out of Costco’s popular soft serve with caramel sauce and topped with crunchy churro bites. The base of the dessert can be vanilla, chocolate, or swirl, depending on the customer’s preference.

The Caramel Churro Sundae is reportedly being sold at Costco stores for a limited time for $2.99.

PEOPLE has reached out to Costco for comment on the new dessert.

Some people who have already tried the Caramel Churro Sundae shared their take on it online. One person noted that this limited-time menu item was a bit sweeter than previous offerings.

“The mint one was better, this one is good too, but it is on the sweeter side, like when you get to the bottom it’s mega sweet,” one person commented on Costco New’s Instagram post.

Another person wrote, “I just had it yesterday. Soooo good 🔥.”

One Costco fan, Yutack Kang, shared on Instagram and TikTok his review of the new sundae flavor, noting that he gave the dessert the top marks, as the “brown sugar and cinnamon flavors in this thing are pretty spot on.”

However, it did not impress other guests, including one who noted, “This was not good. I threw it away after two spoons. The churros they sprinkle on top are frozen bits. [Yuck]!” Another said, “I tried this yesterday. It was too sweet.”

“Personally, I liked the mint better,” one person said. Another added, “The mint was amazing. You all just need to give it time for it to build momentum.”

The new limited-time sundae flavor will be sold alongside Costco’s normal menu, which includes a chocolate sundae and a strawberry sundae, as well as the regular soft serve flavors in a cup.

I’m not sure if I’m going to try the Caramel Churro Sundae. I know I won’t order one on my own like I did with the mint one, but if my kids or husband end up trying it, I’d probably take a bite as a taste test. It has nothing to do with the mixed reviews. I also don’t have anything against churros! I used to occasionally split one with Mr. Rosie back when Costco still sold those big ones. I’m just not sure how I feel about a brown sugar and cinnamon-flavored sundae. I prefer savory over sweet any day of the week. I’m also pretty much an exclusively mint chocolate chip ice cream kinda gal and have been since I was two years old. That said, I’m still curious about this new dessert. If anyone has tried the Caramel Churro Sundae, let me know if it’s any good.

Haagen-Daz is the best! I also have a fondness for Edy’s because that’s the one my mom used to buy when I was a kid. My absolute favorite, though, comes from a local family-owned ice cream shop. Whatever they do when they make it is perfection.

Turkey Hill has a good one.

I’m starting to get very Leary oh brands of ice cream as I recently read about brands bringing out non-melting ice cream. Yuck

On another note on occasion I like ice cream sandwiches which are also getting hard to find with real ice cream. I discovered the brand Prairie Farm which are delicious.
