Queen Elizabeth was ‘very keen’ for Prince Andrew to become a trade envoy

You’ve heard of the Epstein Files, but we’ve never seen a different trove of documents: the records of Prince Andrew’s years as a British trade envoy. For months/years, people have wanted access to the documents related to Andrew’s trade-envoy years, which lasted roughly from 2001 through 2011. Andrew only lost his envoy position because of his connection to Jeffrey Epstein, which everyone thought (at the time) was a separate issue from his trade-envoy work. It turns out, Andrew was most likely using his trade-envoy job to access confidential information, then pass along that info to Epstein and his associates as “payment” for access to Epstein’s girls. Additionally, it’s more than likely that Andrew was abusing girls and women as he traveled around to other countries. Well, in newly released documents, we’re learning more about how Andrew even got this trade position. Unsurprisingly, his mother was “very keen.”

The late Queen Elizabeth II was “very keen” for her son, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, to take on a “prominent role” in promoting Britain’s national interests, a former official previously said, according to a trove of documents relating to the former prince’s appointment as a British trade envoy in 2001.

In a memo to the then-Foreign Secretary Robin Cook dated February 2000, David Wright, then chief executive of government body British Trade International, said that “the Queen’s wish” was for Mountbatten-Windsor to serve as a trade envoy, and that the role would “fit well” with the end of his career in the British Navy.

The exchange was detailed in a batch of documents released Thursday by the British government relating to Mountbatten-Windsor’s appointment as trade envoy, a role from which the former prince stood down in 2011 over his ties to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Lawmakers agreed in February to publish documents related to Mountbatten-Windsor’s appointment to the post, days after the disgraced royal was briefly arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest came after the US Department of Justice released documents related to its investigation into Epstein that raised questions about the former prince’s dealings with the financier while he was a trade envoy.

In the wake of the arrest, Britain’s Liberal Democrats, an opposition party, asked the government to release all papers related to the creation of the role of “Special Representative for Trade and Investment” and Mountbatten-Windsor’s appointment to that position.

As I said, unsurprising. It turns out that QEII sent this memo and everyone was like “sure,” and that was the extent of the vetting process too. To be fair, it sounds like Peter Mandelson also vouched for Andrew, given that they knew each other through Jeffrey Epstein as well. It’s significant that the British government is even releasing these documents though – these docs are not going to make anyone look good.

The royals are never beating the allegations that they knew about and enabled AMW’s crimes. Only a deeply corrupt system would allow a mother to place her ne’er-do-well son in a sensitive, important position without even a cursory independent vetting process.

On the face of it having the second son of the monarch act as trade envoy is a great idea, one that Harry would have definitely excelled at. However, Andrew’s character was never taken into consideration, his arrogance, his sense of entitlement, his disregard for basic scruples and ethics made his the worst person for this position. I believe that the “Andrew situation” and the late queen’s stunning mishandling of Harry and Meghan will be a legacy that will haunt her down through the centuries to come.

There are better equipped and better educated people who can fill that position. Royals have marketed themselves as charity promoters and not much else. The trade envoy was a way for them to let themselves into spaces where the monarchy can capitalize on opportunities. It is no different to them lobbying the government to change roles for them. Nothing they do are for the benefit of the people. I like Harry but a role like that is better done by someone who fully understands international trade and relations.

Well, it would certainly give Andrew something to do when he got out of the Navy and he may very well have lobbied his mother for it. Given his personality, he would have wanted something with a grand title that he could exploit, rather than attending events with village locals.

Probably the late Queen felt that Andrew needed something to keep him occupied.

I still believe Andrew is her illegitimate son from “Porchie,” her horse advisor. Why else would such a stupid and reprehensible creature as Andrew EVER been the queen’s favorite. What does Andrew have that the others do not? A different father, the “one that got away,” the only man Elizabeth ever really loved. I know it’s a stretch, but Philip was so damn good-looking when they married. That may have hidden all of his flaws which she saw later, primarily the rampant cheating on her. Just guesswork on my part. Otherwise, why Andrew the cretin?

    • IFoxi says:

I think it could be TQ was at a significantly different time in her life when he was born. She was more ready to be a mother when Andrew was born then when she was the lady who shook her eldest child’s hand after a lengthy separation.

  5. Wesley says:

Epstein wanted Andrew in the job, Andrew went to Mummy & asked for the job. Mummy’s secretaries duly leaned on the government to give him the job, ably assisted by Epstein’s other buddy, Mandelson.
    They all need to go.

  6. Amy Bee says:

Not surprising at all and everybody just fell in line because it was the “Queen’s wish”.

    • Iheoma Nwakpadolu says:

..and they all fell in line when Charles wanted the death of his son and his family. That’s what it means to remove protection without notice, stop funding as agreed, lick their whereabout at a critical time, during a once in a lifetime pandemic.

That place a ‘CULT’ pure and simple. They maybe billionaires, however their mode of operation and psychology is that of an established cult.
      Nobody can leave alife

      • Smart&Messy says:

So true. I wonder what the consequences are if people don’t fall in line. We can see the aftermath for Harry, but what if govt officials or anyone else just ignored QE2’s wish and named someone else as trade envoy?
