The Men of Harry Potter, my how hot they’ve grown

harry_potter_premiere_11_we
Last night was the big NY premiere of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part 2. As this incredible long-running franchise comes to an end, everyone is looking back at how these kids have grown over the ten years since we were first introduced to their magical world. (Have you seen this five minute look back video of all the HP movies?) I thought it would be fun to include photos of them from the first two movies, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). I remember the first time I saw Harry Potter in the movies, and how impressed I was at how intricate and engrossing the scenery was, and what great child actors they were. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but it seems like time to me. Especially when we see how these sweet kids have grown up into some really gorgeous men. It feels a little wrong though to notice.

Above we have star Daniel Radcliffe, who is just 21 yet possesses the grace and professionalism of a seasoned actor. I just love him.

Matthew Lewis, 22. (Neville Longbottom). This before photo is actually from 2007’s Order of the Phoenix. Can you believe how great he looks now?

Tom Felton, 23. (Draco Malfoy) Sniveling little Draco grew up to be quite a lovely young man. He recently said he might start some kind of career as a rapper, but some outlets are guessing that he was just joking about it. He also said he was flattered to hear that his co-star Emma Watson had a crush on him when they were 12.

Rupert Grint, 22. (Ron Weasley). Grint is in dire need of a haircut and styling – that suit looks a little too big for him. Still, I sense that he’s one of those guys who just doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Rupert has a new interview with Parade where he reminisces about his favorite scenes and talks about how hard it was to say goodbye after 12 years working on set. (And here’s a link to a segment of his interview with Regis & Kelly, where he talks about kissing Emma Watson. He’s adorable.)

We can’t forget Alan Rickman, 65. (Severus Snape) He didn’t grow up in the films like our other featured actors and Snape doesn’t really do it for me, but his voice is just incredible. I’m also surprised to read that he’s 65, because I would have put him at 15 years younger. He has a naughty glint in his eye, doesn’t he?

Adore Alan Rickman! He’s one hot senior!

  2. katnip says:

I love these kids.. Matthew has this Clive Owen/Rupert Everett vibe to me. I have to say Tom Felton looks like Christoph Waltz but taller.

I can’t believe it all ends on Friday.. I am taking tons of tissue.

  3. Photo Jojo says:

Alan Rickman is the absolute ultimate. I would hit that and hit it HARD. And Neville Longbottom can come too!

  4. CT says:

I’m obsessed with the cut of Daniel Radcliffe’s suit. It looks AMAZING in the full-body shot.

  5. Quest says:

Amazing I would have never thought that Matthew Lewis(Neville) be such a hottie in his twenties. Love the Potter men, they are absolutely superb and relatively drama free

  6. Stephie says:

Love them all. Sad to see the series end, but I can’t wait to see the last movie.

  7. birdie says:

Celebitchy should give much more love to Rupert Grint, he is hot!!! Lots of Harry Potter fans are so in love with him. He had this haircut for a new role, so it´s not his fault.
I would hit it… ooh yeeah

  8. gee says:

Neville cleans up NICE. Generally, this is a hot bunch. Rupert has been a favorite of mine for years. I think all except Mr. Potter himself.. I could just never get on that bandwagon, although I understand the appeal.

  9. pebbles says:

    Love.

  10. Chloe says:

Let us not forget that also Draco turned out somewhat hot. Not my type of hot but hot nonetheless.

  11. Bellatrix says:

Can I have some hot spicy sauce with all of these to go, please? Yes, ALL of them. But I’ll keep Alan for dessert…

    Mmmm.

  12. OriginalGracie says:

LOVE Dan Rad and LOVE Alan Rickman!!

  13. Micki says:

I love Alan Rickman. His voice is great naturally but his range as an actor is amazing! From the “bad guy” in the first Die Hard through Sense and Sensibility, Snow Cake till Harry Potter he was brilliant every single time!

  14. Hakura says:

I was so shocked at how handsome Matt Lewis (Neville) has become.

I’m especially impressed how lovely Tom & Daniel turned out. They’re both quite nice to look at, but also have that hard-to-find ‘quality‘ of coming across universally-likeable, funny, *&* clever.

  15. aenflex says:

I absolutely adore these children. It’s creepy but they will always kinda be kids to me. Neville is hot now. Damn.

  16. Amy says:

woah… if the cast members could get a “changed the most since we started filming” award, that one would go to Matthew Lewis aka Neville Longbottom! I almost fell off my chair at how handsome he has become.

  17. yo-ho_ahoy says:

major drool factor on neville! Can sum1 get us a ‘Hogwarts Hotties’ armani type calender thingy going? Pleeeez?!?

  18. padiddle says:

I read an interview where Matthew Lewis said they made him wear a fat suit, fake teeth, cheek pads, and push up his ears as Neville. So he’s probably been hot for awhile now 😉

  19. Nanea says:

Can I have seconds of that, please, with some frozen Butterbeer to go?

  20. GeekChic says:

Tom Felton should never, ever do his hair that way. He has kind of an oddly shaped head, where it is bigger up top (sort of like the classic alien head thing; please note that I’m not ragging on him because it’s not as if he can help it). When his hair isn’t done in a pouf like that, it isn’t very noticeable. But the way his hair is styled in these photos, it’s all I can see. It’s too bad, because he’s quite a handsome young man with beautiful eyes.

  21. TG says:

I must be getting old because Alan Rickman is the only one I think is hot. That Draco kid looks lind of cool dressed up but Daniel is too short and not attractive in the least. I absolutely adored them, especially Ron, in the first movie. I am more obsessed with the books then the movies.

  22. esblondie says:

If I had my chance I’d be on Alan Rickman like a cheap suit.

  23. orion70 says:

Rupert Grint for some reason reminds me of David Walliams.

  24. Eleonor says:

    Wow Neville looks great!

  25. Crystalline says:

Wow, Neville really came into his own! Hot stuff, I’d happily take him home. And Rickman, that fox, he totally looks like he is up to something.

  26. RobN says:

Lots of cute, but the only hot I see is Alan Rickman.

  27. dubdub2000 says:

I agreee with RobN. I really don’t see any hotness in any of them other than Alan Rickman , actually other than Radcliffe who is cute the others are positively average to ugly. The thing is a lot of childhood quircky features which are cute when you are little become not cute when you grow up. I found all those kids (except for Radcliffe) much cuter when they were little. Right now I’d say they are in their ugly duckling phase (think Kevin bacon in his early twenties. Kevin suddenly turned hot when he turned 30 lol). So yeah, I’m not feeling it at all…

  28. Miranda says:

Damn! I didn’t know that Neville could look that hot! Wow. They’re all hot actually except for snape. He’s like really old. It’s weird seeing him without black hair……

  29. Chrissy says:

I agree with dubdub and RobN. The other guys just look like kids to me. Not sexy in the slightest.

  30. Susan says:

OMG Alan Rickman is in my top 3 hottest men of ALL TIME!!!!!! So freaking hot…..

  31. Az says:

Oh Alan Rickman…. LOVE. Thank you so much for including him. He is a gorgeous, gorgeous man, so talented and intelligent. And that voice!

  32. Cheyenne says:

Dang, now I’m going to have to see the movie after all. Reviews are up on rottentomatoes.com and they all say the movie is great.

  33. UKHels says:

disagree re: Daniel Radcliffe – he’s a weird looking little squit!!

  34. Carrie B. says:

Nope. These boys are young enough to be my children. I absolutely can not find them attractive.

By the way, Alan Rickman makes it but not Jason Isaacs?!

  35. Rachel says:

You all need to back up off my Neville. I’ve always known his potential. That’s why my fanfiction penname is nevillesgirlfriend.

  36. Lindy says:

Oh my god, Alan Rickman. He is my absolute–#1–please–please–let–me–spend–a–long–weekend–with–him celebrity.

  37. Melanie says:

Neville looks good! THe first book/movie is actually Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, not Philosopher.

  38. Amanda G says:

How hot they’ve grown? I would hardly call any of them hot. Especially Rupert…he has aged badly.

    Sigh…I’m going to miss Snape.

  39. I know where I’m gonna be Sunday!! I’d watch it sooner, but I have to work. This weekend should be declared a National holiday.Yup,that would sooo help me out..

  40. Sandy says:

Philosopher’s Stone was the true title of the first book and movie. It was changed to Sorcerer for American audiences.

  41. JT says:

I’m kind of surprised that Matthew Lewis grew up to be the hottest (to me at least). He was so awkward as a kid, and now look at him!

  42. Shay says:

The ultimate irony is how the Matthew Lewis ended up as the best looking of the boys.
It’s better to be a late bloomer.
Tom Felton has one of those weird cliche alien shaped heads.

  43. Emily says:

I just can’t with Tom Felton. He looks too much like some bogan who bullied me in primary school. Neville turned out hot though! And why no pics of the Weasley twins? They’re cute with their natural dark hair.

  44. Missfit says:

I can’t see the younger guys as “hot” cause I see them as my kids too…however, as a mom’s point of view…they are very handsome. 🙂 The funny thing is I’m not that much older than them, lol. I have two boys though and I’m ready to go to the premiere with them this week, I’m so excited! 😀 We are big HP fans in the family. 😀

  45. AmyUSA says:

hahaha … do you know, I’ve watched all the Harry Potter movies all the way through, and for some reason I’ve always had a little crush on Snape! I would imagine what he’s like off set, and image us sitting by the fire drinking wine and laughing about how different he was from Snape – he just has some indescribable attraction for me! And the whole time I never told anyone else, cause I thought I was so odd, I mean who would have a crush on Alan Rickman?? So i LOVE seeing all of you comments on how hot he is!!! I thought I was the only one, so glad I’m not alone hahaha 🙂

  46. S says:

Fantastic post! Love them all! (also I may have imagined this entire post being read in Alan Rickman’s voice…*le sigh*)

  47. L says:

Neville is the real hero of this heptalogy. So satisfying to see him grow from an “ugly duckling” into a beautiful swan. If he is anything like his character it is well-deserved.

  48. Mr.Smurf says:

I’m 16, and I absolutely love Alan Rickman, the voice, his unconventional looks (I don’t go for pretty boys)….he’s an amazing actor. Rima Horton better hold on tight to him.
