Beyonce posts pics of Blue’s magical princess & jungle themed birthday party

bey

Blue Ivy Carter turned 2 years old last week. To celebrate, Beyonce and Jay-Z went ALL OUT and this week, Beyonce posted tons of photos from the birthday celebrations. Us Weekly said last week that Bey and Jay rented out Jungle Island in Miami – Jungle Island is a “wildlife park and botanical garden” and I’m assuming those are the photos of Beyonce playing with animals and such. Then, Bey and Jay threw a huge evening party for Blue too, where there were costume changes and everything.

Us Weekly says that Beyonce invited Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland to the party – and I spy Spike Lee in some of the photos too. I think there are some basketball players too, I just don’t know their names. Blue’s favorite gift? A Minnie Mouse toy car, which she drove around the party. A source told Us Weekly: “She is an adorable, well-adjusted and very funny baby girl.” My birthday wish for Blue: that she gets her mother’s beauty and her father’s business sense.

Also, I still kind of love how Beyonce refuses to put a full-on face shot of Blue on her Tumblr. I mean, we know what Blue looks like, there are photos out there. But Beyonce just refuses to put anything more than Blue’s half-profile on her Tumblr. I like that. It’s like playing high-stakes peekaboo with The Celebrity Baby Industrial Complex.

Update: Okay, so some of these photos are from Beyonce and Jay-Z’s New Year’s party, I didn’t know that. Her Tumblr loads the NYE photos after the birthday photos, which is why I was confused.

Blue is very cute and the three of them make a really cute family. I like Beyonce as a mother, good for them.

    • IdontThinkSoTim says:

Well, there’s not one pic where one can see Blue’s face completely. At least not in this site, it comes across as it being all about “queen Bey” (rolling my eyes)

      • franklymydear1 says:

Or it comes across as someone who likes to have control over how her child is portrayed in the media.

      • Dani2 says:

It’s really not a deep compliment that I gave, I don’t follow Beyonce’s personal life extensively so I probably don’t know too much about what’s made you dislike her. I’ve seen a few pictures of Blue and of them as a family and I think they’re a cute family, it’s that simple 🙂

      • LakeMom says:

I don’t know…to me it comes across as trying to be protective of her child. If she were posting pictures of Blue’s face, some people would probably be saying she’s pimping her child out for publicity. I really don’t have an opinion of Beyonce one way or another but does sometimes seem these celebrities can’t win no matter what they do. (Not that I’m crying in my beer for any of them…just an observation.)

      • PJ Oreily says:

I’ve noticed that they always avoid showing Blue’s mouth. Could it be because she has Jay’s mouth?

      • RHONYC says:

        @ PJ Oreily

why? what’s wrong with Jay’s mouth? hmm? *sideeye*

  2. bns says:

    So cute!

  3. eliza says:

A cake covered in fondant is not a treat for anyone! Lol.

What kind of ridiculous clothes are the parents wearing? Good grief, I really wish women would go back to wearing pants.

    • bns says:

Wtf is this comment? Plenty of women wear pants all of the time, including Beyonce.

    • Latisse says:

I like the clothes and think they make a delicious family but I agree wholeheartedly about the fondant.

It is so hard and gross and terrible. Why do people buy cakes with it. Doesn’t everyone just end up peeling off the fondant and going for the cake beneath?

And is it just me or do fondant covered cakes, once you get past all the fondant, taste dry and stale. It’s like the fondant sucks all moisture from the cake AND THAT IS A WASTE OF GOOD CAKE!!!

If I was a superhero, fondant would be my kryptonite.

    • Delta Juliet says:

      Fondant is the WORST! Blech.

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

I used to feel the same way until I actually made a cake and covered it in fondant. It was actually a wedding cake for a good friend and it was beautiful! It was white, of course, and I added Tiffany blue ribbons made of fondant so the whole thing looked like it wrapped gift 🙂
However, I have eaten my share of dry cake covered in this stuff so I was very careful to make sure that the cake was moist. I used an extra moist lemon cake recipe and at the last minute I decided to use a raspberry filling between the layers. Also if you added then layer of icing between the cake and the fondant it should be fine. The problem is that these cakes are usually so elaborate that they are made far too much in advance and therefore become dry. It is much better to make it beautiful, elaborate centerpiece themed cake that no one will actually eat. And surrounded with cupcakes and complementary colors or a sheet cake that is freshly made and therefore better tasting. Why don’t we talk about cake more on this site LOL

      • littlestar says:

I agree with all that you said about fondant and how to make a non-dry fondant covered cake. You can also use a syrup to baste the cake with as well to keep it staying nice a moist. My wedding cake had a delicious almond syrup to moisten the chocolate layers – so good! But I went with buttercream instead of fondant, because although it looks beautiful, I can’t stand the stuff! I am still dreaming about that cake, it was so damn good.

Ohhh man, I want cake so badly now lol. Blue’s cake is pretty cute.

      • Isa says:

My daughters last birthday cake was amazing. Buttercream frosting but all the little decorations were fondant. Plus it was free!

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Well done ladies lol. Chocolate and Allman is an amazing combination and I don’t blame you for still dreaming about that cake 🙂
Using a combination of buttercream frosting, which is my ultimate favorite, and fondant for decorating is genius.

      • jilliiii says:

many many too many fancy cakes (ie wedding) cakes from bakeries are somewhat premade which probably contributes to much of the dryness. a fresh, well baked cake with fondant is usually ok, tho not my favorite, while a defrosted fondant cake if just….gross. I used to work in weddings haha I ate a lot of cake.

    • littlestar says:

I actually really love Beyoncé’s outfit in the top photo! Perfect New Year’s Eve outfit, imo :). And I love the lipstick she is wearing too.

    • abbizmal says:

That’s what that nasty stuff is called. I prefer an extremely thick coat of buttercream icing.

PS – Is B wearing a swimsuit while J is weraing a tux? That makes sense.

    • Brittaki says:

She’s wearing pants in the picture where she’s holding the snake, so…

Sidenote: that chimp is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. I have a serious case of the awwwwwwws.

  4. Cro-girl says:

    That first picture is fierce.

  5. Cecilia says:

So strange. In every pic that I have personally seen with Blue & her parents…It’s like they are not familiar with each other. They’re not interacting or engaging each other. I don’t think they spend much time with that child unless it’s to take a pic. Hell, Bey can’t even carry that kid correctly. Just an observation on my part.

  6. Ellie66 says:

She is a very cute little girl. But why are they dressed like a Las Vegas lounge singer and a showgirl. That blue jacket 😀 Lol!

  7. JessicaC says:

It’s kind of sad that they felt the need to throw the “well-adjusted” thing in there. What normal parent talks about their child like that?

    • Latisse says:

Haha have you met parents? All parents talk about their kids like that. My friends have just recently started having kids and I swear it is ridiculous.

They compete/brag about whose kid is well adjusted. Whose kid sleeps through the night. Whose kid moved onto eating solids faster. Whose kid got potty trained “literally within weeks, the doctor says he has never seen anything as amazing as my kid”. Whose kid socializes the best with other kids.

It has gotten to the point that I think when I have kids, I will move into a dark cave in the middle of siberia just to avoid the whole thing.

    • AlmondJoy says:

@Jessica I work at an elementary school and I hear parents use “well-adjusted” all the time. Even about children that are anything but. Lol

      • Isa says:

I hear and read parents brag about their kids, but well adjusted is something I never hear them say.
I figured it was said because of Blue’s famous and rich parents.
Maybe it just depends on the area you live in.

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

We have a good friend who fits this description to a T. His kids are the smartest, most well-adjusted, politically correct, sensitive, super developed, precocious, talented and well-rounded children since the beginning of time. So of course this makes him the greatest dad since the beginning of time as well. it is to the point where my husband and I cringe every time he opens his mouth about the children. And the funny thing is that we are godparents to two of his children so we know the truth LOL. But it is amazing how much validation some parents need.

    • jaye says:

That quote is not attributed to Beyonce or Jay

  8. Kiddo says:

I don’t know. Am I the only one who notices that the baby is not front and center in any of the photos? Her face is practically cut out in the last one. There isn’t one photo where she is facing the camera. It’s all about mommy and daddy.

    • tifzlan says:

I think that’s the whole point – they DON’T want Blue’ face front and center. I can back that. I think it’s a good move on their part. There are lots of psychos out there. They’re only protecting her.

      • Tapioca says:

They could easily not post any pictures of her at all. After all, they always used to make a fuss about how private they were.

Until the sales figures for “4” came in, obviously, and since then…

    • blue marie says:

At that age isnt the party more for the adults anyway? I’ve been to friends/family’s kids parties (I have no kids yet they refuse to quit inviting me) and the kid could care less about what’s going on around them, opting to play with a box instead.

      • Kiddo says:

        @tifzlan and blue marie
But then what’s the point of posting the pics at all? I’m not getting that. It’s not pride in the cleverness or adorableness of the baby. Are we supposed to respond with astonishment and admiration at the awesomeness of their parenting or money spent?

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I totally agree. A party like this for a two year old is about the parents, not the child. She probably won’t even remember it. I’m not judging them, just commenting.

      • jinni says:

So true about kids and boxes. Also, true for bubble wrap.

      • blue marie says:

I think they’re going for “awe of money spent” Kiddo

    • Juliette says:

I see Beyonce’s point, that her kid shouldn’t be the star of the tumblr page, BUT that is how Beyonce documents her own life, for herself and for posterity. Its like “the world thru Bey’s eyes” When Blue gets older, she may wish that she had a few smiley pictures with her parents documented on there. I know I would.

  9. Marigold says:

A bit much for a 2 year old, no?

And thanks for wearing pants, mom. Is this Blue’s party or a Beyoncé show?

I just can’t get behind using wild animals like this. Holding them and asking them to deal with all the noise and the crowd. I don’t know. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

    • dagdag says:

      Same here.

    • littlestar says:

      Yup!

    • kcarp says:

My 2 year old is having a Minnie Mouse party next week. I have been working for a month on decorations and ordered a 95.00 cake which my husband will probably pass out when he hears the cost. BUT I didn’t get a monkey so I guess we will never be as cool as B, J, and little Girl Blue.

  10. mrspatrickbateman says:

I saw that first picture and thought they were having a Coming to America themed birthday party. J’s outfit reminded me of the king’s. A lot.

  11. tifzlan says:

I love love love Blue’s hair.

  12. pretty says:

wow the red lipstick she is wearing in last picture looks really cool. big chunks of pink sparkles!

  13. Badirene says:

Totally agreed about the use of animals for entertainment, its in very bad taste. Doesn’t sit right with me either.

    • Lindy79 says:

I feel the same. I dont agree with these hiring animals to attend parties where children are running around close to them and handling them (as they are entitled to do at a party). Plus they have to be brought around in cases.

Zoos are different, the children and people never get near them.

      • Mar says:

This party is at Parrot Jungle- which is pretty much a zoo. They have orangutans, snakes, alligators, birds and all of the animals that you would typically find in this part of the country. It is a really cool place actually. Kids love it.

      • Lindy79 says:

        Ah right. My bad.
I thought it was one if those situations where they bring the animals to the party, which I hate.

      • Marigold says:

Even if it’s a zoo-like place, the idea that they interact with the animals is unsettling. I’m sure there was a lot of noise and action. It’s just asking too much of the animals.

  14. Neffie says:

I dont blame her for hiding her face, i would too. Some internet trolls are out of control. ION i see she is spending alot more public time with Kelly and Michelle.

    • cass says:

Then why does she bother posting pictures at all?

      • Latisse says:

It’s called a happy medium. Get to share pictures without opening up the baby to unduly harsh scrutiny.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

No one criticizes when Ben, Jennifer, Brad and Angie constantly parade their children. This couple does it far less. Not to mention Gwen, Jessica, Britney etc. etc. We basically watched their children grow up.

      • V4Real says:

People know what Blue looks like. I saw full frontal Blue on TMZ a couple of days ago. If people are going to scrutinize they have plenty of pics to use. That being said she is a cute little girl who is starting to look a lot like her daddy. Even though I don’t believe Beyonce gave birth to Blue, Jay is definetely her father.

      • June says:

Brad and Angelina’s kids are hardly seen! Months have gone by with no pics. So no, they do not “constantly” parade their kids. They also do not have a site where they post pics frequently!!!1

Jen’s kids are seen daily, multiple times a day sometimes.

  15. MG says:

Why is Beyoncé wearing underwear to her daughter’s party…that’s what it looks like to me anyway.

    • QQ says:

She is wearing Versace at the Versace mansion in Miami, that was a (their?) NYE party, The Blue party were the next day or a few days after In jungle island Totally different days Ya’ll

Also everyone needs to relax the Fauxtrage at a clearly fantasy ensemble or the known fact she wont do a full on Blue pic if it depends on her… She likes control and her fans want more everything: The compromise is that you dont get a daily Instagram of Blue, LOL

      • Kiddo says:

To the second paragraph, I think you may be equating perplexity with outrage. The latter involves some emotional investment, which, and I can only speak for myself, just isn’t there.

  16. Lupe says:

Why not wish for Blue to have her mother’s business sense as well? Beyoncé was just as successful without Jay-Z, and it’s not like either of them made it to where they are today without the help of managers, producers, publicists, and the like. I know it was just an innocent comment, but saying you hope a kid gets the mother’s looks and the father’s brains reads a little sexist when the mom in question can match her husband toe-to-toe.

    • Latisse says:

      +1,000,000

    • AlmondJoy says:

      @Lupe Such an excellent comment!

    • LP says:

I agree so much. She’s probably the most successful female artist in the world right now and she did it as someone who didn’t necessarily fit into the stereotypical pop star mold. I’d love 1/10th of her business sense.

    • Tapioca says:

Yeah, but then hoping the kid gets her father’s looks would just be too bitchy!

    • Linda says:

I want to kiss you for this comment

    • bns says:

      Great comment.

    • Lameliah says:

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say but you captured it. To imply that the most valuable thing Beyonce has to offer is her looks is sexist and demeaning. What about her incredible voice, her work ethic, her passion, her athleticism, not to mention her incredible business sense too??

      • bns says:

Read the comments in the post about the essay that she wrote in support of women’s rights. Most of the comments were about how she’s not articulate or bright enough to have written the letter herself, and an assistant had to have done it.

    • idk says:

      Exactly !

    • Janie says:

Jay worked his way through to the top and to a great team.

Beyonce was constructed at an audition for a girl group and handled from that second on.

      Big difference.

      • Latisse says:

Yes and where are all those original girls in the “constructed group” now? Lost in the footnotes of history. And yet here Beyonce is still relevant, the most successful female singer this year in terms of record sales.

So to imply that Beyonce herself has nothing to do with her own success is completely ridiculous. You might become successful due to luck/good management but you don’t STAY successful due solely to luck/good management because there is a natural weeding out process that inevitably occurs in each industry. Her sustained success is all down to her.

This is why the children of stars don’t always go on to be huge successes themselves despite having access to all the good management mommy and daddy can provide.

  17. joanna says:

these pictures are adorable they seem like a great family.how can somebody possibly tell how involved of a mother beyonce is by looking at photos smh

  18. bns says:

LOL you people complain about everything Beyonce does. It’s hilarious.

    • Sam says:

      Thank you!!

      • Colu says:

I agree. The amount of hates Beyoncé gets floors me. I think B & J have the right strategy for exposing Blue in the media. They are proud parents and understand that fans want to see her, but they aren’t overexposing her. Giving people just glimpse of her leaves some mystery there. Plus, if they didn’t show her at all people would be yelling for Beyoncé (never Jay!) to “spend time with her baby!” like they do with Kim and North.

  19. joanna says:

whats the big deal that beyonce is showing her legs? that was at the new years eve party? lol

  20. SmithBlarg says:

I think my snark is broken. I can’t hate on Giselle or Bey today. So J and Bey threw their 2yo a kick-arse party for her birthday. They’re rich. OF COURSE it was over the top. Seems to me like they adore that little girl. And they parent they way many celebs do – with lots of staff. Some days, I’d kill to have an extra set of hands when the hubs isn’t around (even when he is!).

  21. Kim1 says:

There are more pics of the children who were there.Despite the fact that some folks said here were no kids there because BIC has no friends. As usual WE,the pu,blic have no idea who most of the celeb’s kids’ friends are.

  22. Thunderthighs says:

Lol. I’m just gonna sit here and watch and laugh quietly to myself.

  23. toto says:

The first picture JayZ’s shadow is spooky and Beyonce is a ghost, she does not cast a shadow. lol

  24. QQ says:

Once again (bears clarifying after all this toot tooting about big parties and changes of outfits) Different parties/Different nights/Both in Miami within days of each other (a New Years Eve party in the Versace mansion , hence here head to toe Look, Jungle Island a few days after ..God why am I defending Beysus Christ? Oh yeah cause i hate the toot tooting about )

  25. UghInsomnia says:

Who wears such a low cut blouse and hot pants around their child? We get it, “Yonce,” you have a great body, but you don’t have to be half naked all the time.

    • Linda says:

      Are u serious?

      • Sam says:

        Unfortunately I think she is.

      • UghInsomnia says:

Yes, I’m totally serious. The shirt comes down to her naval, then her stomach is showing, and her shorts are super short. It just looks trashy.

      • Latisse says:

Yes, I’m sure a baby just fresh from the age of breastfeeding will be SCANDALIZED by a low cut blouse. Give me a break.

      • UghInsomnia says:

Latisse, you sound like you’re all in your feelings about this. She looks trashy, full stop. I didn’t say her child would be “SCANDALIZED,” it’s just an inappropriate outfit to parade around in with her child present. It’s not like they’re at the beach, where a bikini would be par for the course- they’re at a party, where her husband is dressed appropriately and looks quite nice. Beyonce just looks like she grabbed something off the rack at Fredericks of Hollywood.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

        Insomnia
How can you clutch your pearls and type at the same time?

      • Latisse says:

No, no, no Insomnia. Don’t change the subject now. You said: “Who wears such a low cut blouse and hot pants around their child?” Your false outrage was completely nonsensical as said child whose eyes you supposedly want to protect has just come from an age were she got full frontal view of her mother’s breasts as does any breastfeeding baby. Thus your outrage (Which we all know is concern trolling) is completely illogical and totally overdone.

As for me being “in my feelings”, I’m not precisely sure what that means as I am not fluent in “intertnetz speak” but if it means what I think it means, I’d have to assert that I’m not the one getting all worked up about what someone I’ll never meet is wearing within the walls of their own home. In summary: simmer down.

  26. CrackFox says:

The chimp is like, “I’m with Beyoncé. You mad?”

  27. Dawn says:

So I know that lots of people don’t like them but I do. I think those are great pictures and I love seeing what hands on parents they are. Yes I am sure Blue has a nanny or two or maybe even three but she is clearly at home being with her parents. I think they look like they are having so much fun with their little girl and I think that is great! The cake is great but too large for a 2nd birthday in my opinion but other than that how fun does that party look?

  28. paola says:

That snake is freaking me out. I hate snakes. *shiver down the spine *

    • paola says:

i had to go and double check it.. it’s not lifted on her shoulder, that black thing with some pink fabric is her jacket! I think that snake is real…. *shivers*

  29. pk says:

I wouldn’t call myself a fan, but from what I have seen on the gossip sites, they seem like a happy family who adores their baby girl. Blue may be blessed with material things and a lavish lifestyle, but that is really what is important.

  30. Gia says:

I don’t drink the Beyonce kool aid but that first pic is pretty fierce.

Her liposuction is showing though. No girl with thighs that thick rocks a gap that wide. Exercise my ass.

    • idk says:

I think Beyonce is doing what she did before getting pregnant with Blue. She is exercising a lot (her tour helped her with that) and she is eating right. She is getting her body prepared for baby #2. Yes, I believe she was actually pregnant, that pillow talk is non-sense IMO.

Also, where was Jay’s best friend Kanye and his hang-along gf? No sign of them?

    • loveisthecoal says:

My legs look pretty much just like Beyonce’s, and I’ve never had liposuction. Of course, in my case it’s because my hips are freakishly wide…just saying though, it does happen.

  31. Lucy says:

Very nice pictures. My favorite’s the one in which Jay is holding her and the three of them are looking up.

  32. Monksolo says:

Mommy? why is your coochie always hanging out?

  33. Naomi says:

Just because there are no full on face shots of Blu Ivy doesn’t mean there are none. I think her parents are like most and have tons of pictures. I believe they are wisely being careful about how they are exposing their child to the public. We get some not all. No problem with that.

  34. Jaquebelle says:

While diligently working on a cure for Cancer, Beyonce could run into a burning building to save orphans, and folks would still find fault w/ this woman lol. The images represent TWO separate events and forms of dress. Not a fan by any stretch of the imagination, but some of the criticism here is so disproportionate. They are obscenely wealthy and I would expect many aspects of their child’s birthday celebration to be over the top. As a parent, I have seen folks w/ far less resources celebrate their children’s birthdays far more extravagantly!!! There are many legitimate reasons to criticize Beyonce and Jay-Z, but their parenting skills seem above board. Just don’t see folks subjecting Saint Angelina and her brood to the same degree of harsh criticisms. And don’t be fooled. Anytime you see Angelina and Brad’s children in public, it represents a photo-op!!! They all do it!!! So maybe the cake served at Blue’s birthday celebration was not your cup of tea. Perhaps next time they should exclusively consult with each and every one of their critics regarding a more appropriate cake selection. Or which outfits Beyonce should wear. Sit by the phone and wait for this call, okay lol. One love.

  35. Monksolo says:

Ahh yes I fondly remember my mom showing off her ass and legs at my birthday parties

    • Jaquebelle says:

Don’t always subscribe to many of Beyonce’s fashion choices, but I ‘aint mad at her for being a beautiful woman and mother!!! Giving birth does NOT represent the death of rocking sexy/fun outfits. Should she be sentenced to wearing burqas for life as a punishment for motherhood lol. And once again, the images above represent TWO, separate functions Beyonce attended. One love.

  36. Patty says:

These latest pictures have me convinced that Beyonce was definitely pregnant, not that I believed the fake pregnancy theory to begin with. But it is so obvious in these pictures, her recent videos, and hell almost every picture of her lately – that that she is wearing high waisted shorts/skirts/pants/bikini’s to likely hide pregnancy tummy stretch marks.

Adding: Beyonce and JayZ look a tad bit ridiculous, LOL. And if anyone is interested, you can find pics of Blue on the internet; she looks just like her dad, and I’ll leave it at that.
