Pink in red satin Johanna Johnson at the Grammys: pretty or pageanty?

Pink had one of my favorite looks of the Grammys, and one of my least favorite performances. But let’s do the good stuff first! First of all, Pink rarely wears red. She rarely goes out of her way to really look glam in a traditional way. But when she does try… this is what happens. Pink wore this Johanna Johnson gown in a perfect shade of red for her. She looked gorgeous and while the dress would have been slightly pageant-y, satin and boring on a lesser woman, on a strong, athletic figure like Pink’s, it really worked. I loved this.

As for her performance… well, is anyone else tired of the up-in-the-air acrobatics? It’s just that she did the exact same thing (with a different song) three years ago AT THE GRAMMYS. It’s her go-to stunt. I’m not taking away from her strength or the fact that it seemed like she was singing live while spinning around, but enough. You need new staging, Pink.

More fashion… how amazing is Cyndi Lauper? God, I love her. Where are Cyndi’s all-star tributes, you know? Cyndi wore this fantastic Alexander McQueen which totally works on her. It looks like vintage McQueen too, not Sarah Burton for McQueen.

Natasha Bedingfield in Christian Siriano. Unflattering sack dress, terrible color and STOP WITH THE BANGS. Enough already. All of the girls trying bangs these days are the exact people who should never try them.

Anna Kendrick showed off her lovely rack in this Azzaro. Did you know Anna had such great cleavage? I did not. The dress is kind of blah, but she’s cute.

I LOVE Natasha Bedingfield’s dress. Love the color, that cape thing, the fit and flow and I also think her hair goes well with it. The whole look is awesome and it’s nice to see someone without boobs hanging out for a change.

    • Flim says:

I agree! The drape, the shape, the shade–stunning! I don’t care as much for the styling.

    • Alexa says:

I agree also!! LOVE HER DRESS!!!

    • j. says:

I like the dress, but there’s something odd about it that makes her look like she’s slouching. I thought it was her posture at first, but she doesn’t look like she’s standing weird.

  2. blue marie says:

Pink looks fantastic, so jealous of her arms.
And no matter what Cyndi Lauper wears, love, love, love her, always.
I forget about Anna Kendrick, but she is cute.

    • emmie_a says:

I agree about Cyndi – I’m a huge fan! And I actually like her outfit.

    • Shannon1972 says:

Totally agree with everything you said. I just wish Pink would have stood a bit less aggressively in it. Did someone talk her into wearing it? It was so beautiful and feminine, and she looked gorgeous. But the hands on hips stance was at odds with her gown. She looked much more comfortable standing with her husband.

      Picky, picky, picky…I know.

  3. QQ says:

Pink And Cyndi LOOKED SICKENINGLY GOOD (only one of them sounded and acted Sober tho)

Nathasha beddingfield… Sigh… I LIKE he voice but.. Um.. Sis has a Terminal case of Kylie Minogue face. This is Not Complementary

  4. smee says:

I love Pink’s dress on her. It fits perfectly at the bust, which is very rare with strapless dresses.

I can’t help but love Pink even if her acrobatic stuff is a little ho-hum. She’s so positive and at least she’s trying to entertain people with her physical prowess instead of just bending over, ifyouknowwhatimean

    • LadyMTL says:

I agree that Pink has a really positive message and is an amazing artist but I do find the acrobatic thing to be getting really dull. The first two or three times you see it, it’s really incredible but now it’s almost routine.

Like Kaiser said, it’s not to take away anything from how freaking difficult it must be to do that but yeah…it’s boring now, at least for me.

      • jaye says:

Yeah, when I saw she was doing the acrobatics, I was like “she’s up in the air…again??” We get it Pink, you can sing AND do a Cirque du Soleil routine. Enough already. In related news, Corey looks really good.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think Pink’s dress fits perfectly and love the color, but I hate the actual dress. She’s looking great in it, though.

      • emmie_a says:

I agree. The dress fits great and the color is good – but overall it looks super cheap. And it’s sort of boring Grammys-wise.

Going to see Pink in Vegas on Friday. Can’t wait!!

    • Stef Leppard says:

I love Pink. She’s one of my favorite artists. She writes her own stuff, she sings live, and she’s not trying to fit into a mold. She’s badass. And she looked stunning last night.

Cindi Lauper for the win! She always looks like she is having a good (high) time! Pink looked beautiful…would have loved some fabulous jewelry with that dress tho…Natasha, er, not good…and Anna looked ok…she is young, would have liked seeing something a little edgier on her…

  6. Sisi says:

Cindi is my best dressed this event

  7. lana86 says:

how does this dress hold on her boobs so well?

  8. JojoAnn says:

What the hell were those leggings that Cyndi was wearing? They werent even the right shade of black to go with an otherwise ok dress. And while I am on my grumpy critique routine, Pink really shouldnt wear strapless dresses. She has mannish shape with those wide shoulders, thick arms and small boobies, she just shouldnt. And if she must, she needs to perk up those small titties, they just looked so sad and droopy inspite of being small.

    • teatimescoming says:

could you be any more judgmental about a woman’s shape being “mannish?” having muscles and small breasts don’t make a woman look mannish. the body part you’re thinking of is more hot dog shaped. grow up.

I had such high hopes for Christian Siriano when he was on Project Runway, but a lot of his red carpet looks have been disappointing. I think he lets the client have too much input. Or something. Bleck.

    • Shannon1972 says:

I know! At least he has let go of the ridiculously huge ruffles that he was sticking on everything and everyone, whether they made sense or not. So there is *some* progress here. 😉

I have an entirely different set of parameters in judging fashion for the Grammys. There, I like the crazy.
Pink doesn’t look crazy, her dress reminds me of a Valentines box of chocolate, and on her, it works. I thought her acrobatics were incredible. I don’t care that she did it before. No one complained when Michael Jackson interwove the same dance steps into his acts. She was working hard, sounded fantastic, looked incredible, and the act is unique to her.

Cindi Lauper brought a little rock and roll off kilter, YAY. That’s how it’s done.

Anna Kendrick looks like Amy Adams.

    • antisocial says:

Seriously!!! I don’t ever, EVER need to see stoned, dancing stuffed bears again, I don’t need to see latex covered camel toe gyrating on a broom or little people or Beyoncé’s figurative ego (B love herself entirely too much). However, if Pink wants to acrobatically serenade me at any and every televised awards program, that is something I will NEVER get tired of. If you’re bored of her acrobatics maybe you should be arguing for the fearful auto-tune princesses to step up and give Pink some genuine competition.

  11. Ellie66 says:

I love Pink but she almost gave me a heart attack last nite I was freakin she was going to fall. 😁 ahhhh!

  12. serena says:

Oh man, I love Anna Kendrick’s dress and I love her! She’s so talented and beautiful and.. ok, I’ll stop.
Anyway I would have liked more Pink’s dress if it wasn’t in satin.

  13. Pri says:

Pink, Pink , Pink all the wayy! Love her look. Its like badass going on demure. lolz.

About Natasha Beddingfield, I feel bad for her cause at first glance I thought she was Tish Cyrus… seriously. Had to do a double take and felt even more bad cause I’ve liked her ever since I heard unwritten. Just unfortunate …

Oh, and Cindy Lauper looks Crazy Amazing. Very cute.

  14. AlmondJoy says:

I love Pink!! This dress though… it’s beautiful but I cant figure out why I dont like it. I think it’s just not HER, you know? I prefer her in something interesting and unique. Even so, she still looks gorgeous.

  15. feebee says:

I like Pink’s look, if only because she doesn’t do it like that often. I don’t get tired of her aerial routines, it’ll always be more interesting than the recycled dance moves of other performers.

  16. Jana says:

How can anyone complain about watching P!nk??? She gives 100% at every single performance and is singing LIVE, while 50′ in the air and upside down….Beyoncé, Brittney and Miley can all have their sad auto tuned voice and dance routine, that is what’s getting old to me.

  17. CeltLady says:

How the heck can anyone tire of Pink’s Cirque de Soleil-ish performances? Good Lord, I saw her in concert last month and was holding my breath the entire time. That girl is amazing, and puts her heart and soul into every performance.

Google her last Grammy performance, it was not the same.

She has more talent and sheer strength than any other performer that I’ve ever seen. LOVE her.

  18. kellyinseattle says:

Cyndi is the Best ever?…adore her
