Elizabeth Banks: Jennifer Lawrence ate my birthday cake before I got some

Elizabeth Banks

Here are some photos of Elizabeth Banks looking adorable at the premiere of The Lego Movie a few weeks ago. Her outfit is retro with a contemporary twist. I rarely see Liz make a misstep on the red carpet, and she knew just what to wear to the premiere of a kids’ movie. Nobody dislikes Elizabeth Banks, right? That’s an impossible feat.

Elizabeth did a little interview with Cosmo, and she discussed some of her upcoming projects like Pitch Perfect 2 and Mockingjay. In the process, she talked about Jennifer Lawrence’s love of food. Liz pretty much says JLaw demolished the on-set birthday cake for Elizabeth’s birthday. As in Jennifer grabbed the first piece. Is that offensive? I don’t think it’s as bad as ruining one’s costumes with Doritos dust. It’s not like Elizabeth didn’t get a piece of her own cake, and she wasn’t complaining about JLaw. She just thought it was funny that JLaw was living up to her food-loving reputation. You be the judge:

On Pitch Perfect 2: “I was an on-set producer in the first film, and I was involved since inception and this time around I’ll be taking on a lot more responsibility of getting behind the camera. I’m really excited to get back with the girls and put out a movie that has as much joyfulness and laughter and humor and great music as the first film!!”

On finishing up the Hunger Games movies: “Honestly, I can’t say anything about Mockingjay! Ahhh!! We’ll both end up hurt somewhere! I think the hardcore fans can expect exactly what both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire delivered, Mockingjay is going to be as faithful a rendition of Suzanne’s Collins’ world and books and characters as we can put out!”

Working with the cast: “Well, recently everyone surprised me on the set of Mockingjay with a birthday cake! That was really fun. And, of course, the first person to delve into my cake was Jennifer. I will say she’s a girl who likes to eat and I love that about her.”

On working with Philip Seymour Hoffman: “I’d really rather not discuss it. He was an incredible actor that I respected greatly and I will miss tremendously.”

Beauty advice for travellers: “You know it’s all about hydration, especially in the winter!!! I’m all about water water water water water. I really find that when I get on an airplane, I never drink anything but water and I drink a ton of it. I like to sit in the window, but I’m always climbing over people to go to the bathroom. I’m that seatmate. But ya gotta do it. All about the water.”

[From Cosmo]

I don’t know. Should Jennifer have let Elizabeth take a bite of her cake first? Probably. We don’t know how this went down though. Maybe Liz was like, “Go ahead!” You never know. I’m sure Liam Hemsworth was the last one to take a piece. He seems so boring, like he doesn’t get excited about cake.

I do like Elizabeth’s “water water water” advice. I don’t travel nearly as often as Elizabeth does (obvs), but I’m a water junkie too. I also like to add Nuun tablets to water for an electrolyte boost (without the sugar of Gatorade). Electrolytes are where it’s at, man. Buy that crap in bulk.

Beyond talk of JLaw’s food obsession, I definitely noticed her absence at the BAFTAs. Jennifer won Best Supporting Actress. David O. Russell accepted the award for her. I had a hunch JLaw wouldn’t show up to this ceremony — she’s really shying away from non-mandatory events. She skipped Critics Choice, Writers Guild, and Producers Guild awards. She uses Mockingjay as an official excuse, but I have a hard time believing how Lionsgate wouldn’t let her fly to London for a day. With the time difference, she could have been back by Monday. Here’s why JLaw didn’t go to the BAFTAs: She knows that some people are sick of her. She is trying to be seen as little as possible. Girlfriend does NOT want to win the Oscar this year. She’s no idiot. Look at what the internet did to Anne Hathaway.

I love Elizabeth’s outfit. Very cute.
Birthday girl/boy always gets the first piece. I think that’s like etched in stone somewhere.
However, I refuse to let the internet make me hate JLaw.

  2. Lauren says:

It doesn’t necessarily think it sounds like JL got cake before EB just that she was excited and dove in. EB definitely doesn’t sound upset about it at all.

  3. Frida_K says:

I really loved her in Catching Fire. I saw the movie multiple times and every single time–EVERY single time–there was the scene in which she apologized to Katniss, I cried.

I have a soft heart beneath my acerbic exterior, what can I say?

    🙂

  4. Zadie says:

Oh, isn’t she an adorable 23year old child.

  5. kellyinseattle says:

Elizabeth looks so cute and lovely. Jlaw needs to get her lipstick from somwhere other tha the Goth Bargain Basement, although she’s gorgeous…I have seen ads promoting this as the new must-have color, but blech…kind of like tori spelling’ brasj lipstick colors… but overall, Elizabeth and Jennifer look healthy , happy, and beautiful.

  6. Mark says:

Oh no that Jlaw what’s she like such a woman, she likes to eat food not many woman do that do they? (!) and the only people who should be getting excited over cake is 8 year olds so i guess I’m boring aswell.

But yes she wants the Oscar she wouldn’t have agreed to star in the movie, put her name forward and campaign for the award if she didn’t want it.

    • HQ says:

She didn’t campaign. She was on Conan, did two press conferences and showed up to the Globes and SAGs. That’s been the extent of her press tour for AH. Whereas with SLP she was on every talkshow, she did exclusive interviews with networks, she was featured in every fashion magazine and showed up to EVERYTHING from film festivals, to globes, to BAFTAS, SAGS to all the critics shows. She even said herself she voted for Lupita FIRST. And herself second.

      • Lily says:

I agree she hasn’t been campaigning much. I think people think she was because AH overlapped a little with catching fire press. And I believe she missed the show because she is alturnating between mockingjay and x-men filming.

And I always thought the first cake thing was geared more toward children or anyone being served.

      • Mark says:

She’s been campaigning behind the scenes, just because you’re not on TV shows and in magazines doesn’t mean your not campaigning. She’s gonna say that so people think she’s good ol’ humble Jennifer

Also chill out I didn’t insult your mother.

      • HQ says:

@Lily That’s probably it. She’s done the bare minimum of press for American Hustle. Also I think Jen winning the BAFTA had more to do with Emmanuel River beating her last year. I still think it’s Lupita’s to lose. It depends on who else wins that night. It’s pretty much a sure thing that Matthew Mcconaughey is winning Best Actor. And Alfonso Cauron will win Best Director. Fassbender isn’t campaigning. He did more press for 12YAS than Jen didn for AH. The Academy doesn’t want to risk backlash. 12YAS best chances are Best Supporting Actress and Best Picture.

      • Liv says:

Mark, you do know that she just got the role because O’Russell wanted to test her chemistry with Bale for another film? I doubt that she puts effort into promoting the film because she’s not the main character like, for example, Amy is. She wasn’t even at the BAFTA’s.

      • RuggerHunk says:

If you’re an Oscar winner, the producers of pretty much any film you work on in the future will insist that you submit yourself for an Oscar nomination, or they’ll do it for you. If you get nominated, you can’t really withdraw your nomination. You have to do the minimum amount of press and appearances, if only to protect your reputation as a bankable star in order to keep getting roles.

Lawrence probably wants Nyongo to win more than Nyongo wants it, but she has to make an appearance of going along with the Oscars system.

    • eliza says:

I guess I am an 8 yr old because I still get excited over birthday cakes.

    • Erinn says:

God Mark, someone spit in your coffee this morning?
Most women in Hollywood have a very unhealthy relationship with food. It’s nice that she actually seems to eat ‘normal’ food that the regular joe’s eat. I fucking love cake day at the office. Guess I’m a child.

      • Mark says:

@Erinn No don’t drink it and whats wrong with what I said? I seriously doubt she eats like a regular joe, she needs to be in shape to do the action movies and to play the young wife. Why is she allowed to to tell people that it’s fine to be gluttonous, it’s just as bad as promoting size zero. God forbid someone actually likes to workout and doesn’t like junk food.

Anyway there’s nothing wrong with me I just don’t see why people big her up so much for acting ‘normal’, I have nothing personal against her she’s fine.

@Liv She knew it would be an oscar contender though and if that’s why she’s not promoting she is pretty unprofessional.

      • JessMa says:

If she is eating cheetos and cake on set why is that a problem? She is young and her metabolism is probably great. At that age I didn’t work out and ate like a pig and was super slim. Now in my 30s I still eat a lot, but now I work out. Even though she hates the gym, she has to train for movies. She may also bike, walk, or hike. Just running around, traveling, and stress can make people lose weight.

      • Liv says:

So if she campaigns she’s a bitch for wanting another Oscar, and if she doesn’t campaign she’s unprofessional? Yeah, I totally get your point.

      • Mark says:

@ Liv when did i say she was a bitch for goodness sake, i know everyone should think she’s perfect but you can’t really start making stuff up because i’m not in love with her so chill out.

@Jessma she’s allowed to eat all she wants but i don’t like that people think she’s extraordinary just because she eats.

@RuggerHunk she could say no if she wants to no one forced her and she wants to win, everyone would want to win if they nominated no matter how humble they are….

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

        @Mark – Did somebody say cake? – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcd2EI0VQPI

“I’m Still Jenny From the Block‘s” stealth campaign for her 2nd Oscar is an interesting take on this story, Mark. I like your thinking outside the box, but don’t you think you’re being a little hard on Tiny Jen Who Eats and who’s so gosh darned loveable and all Gee Whiz realness?

I mean, really, how can anyone but a hater doubt an actress’ patented sincerity? REALNESS, y’all. – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dly6p4Fu5TE

“So if she campaigns she’s a bitch for wanting another Oscar, and if she doesn’t campaign she’s unprofessional? Yeah, I totally get your point. ” ITA, Liv. DICHOTOMY.

BTW, I want Amy Adams to win every award on the planet! She had me at Enchanted ‘That’s How You Know [That You Love Her] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRYU4cqUAUs

  7. LadyMTL says:

Meh, I don’t see this as a big deal. In my house the birthday girl / boy always gets the first piece of cake but no one cares if someone else starts eating the cake first. It’s just cake, and heck, maybe Banks said that JLaw could dig in?

And yes, I adore Banks’ outfit! If I was comfortable in strapless tops I would steal the whole look.

  8. yolie says:

I don’t really like Jennifer Lawrence but it sounds as if she was the first to grab a piece after it was offered. Elizabeth didn’t say she grabbed a piece before she cut into it. From the title it sounds as if Jennifer just grabbed a piece without asking.

  9. Eleonor says:

Anne Hathaway oscar campaign was exhausting, seriously.

  10. Kali says:

Cannot wait for Pitch Perfect 2!

  11. Liv says:

“Liam Hemsworth was the last one to take a piece. He seems so boring, like he doesn’t get excited about cake.”

Haha, this made my day! 😉

    • Mario says:

      @Liv Lol!! I know right

This had me laughing>> ” JLaw seems like she can be inconsiderate at times, but the cake thing is not a big deal.” Jlaw is sweet and Just as humble, Just overexposed but shes cool

  12. kibbles says:

This is typical JLaw behavior. JLaw can be a very rude at times (remember how she acted towards the journalist in the SAGs press room?). However, she has been fortunate to offset the rudeness by being self deprecating and funny which makes people forgive her since she is a breath of fresh air compared to the typical mindless and boring Hollywood starlet. The fact that she was rude over a matter of eating cake makes the situation kind of funny and even loveable for some of her fans since she’s one of the few women in Hollywood who seems to genuinely enjoy eating including eating sweets and junk food. There are a lot of non-famous women who can’t even bring themselves to indulge once in a while because of an obsession with weight. I love talking about food, and when I was her age, regularly expressed my love for potato chips and pizza. Now I’m more into fine dining. I’m sure her food choices will change slightly over time as she matures and her metabolism slows down. No biggie.

I also believe that JLaw is skipping out on these awards shows on purpose. I think she wants to win. I don’t think she is that scared of a backlash that she doesn’t want to win major awards. I’m sure she was pleased with her BAFTA award. She could be aware that there is a lot of love for Lupita N’yongo this year. Lupita fans were annoyed that JLaw won the BAFTA, but the anger would have been much worse had JLaw shown up to the show with her larger than life presence. It probably would have gotten under people’s skin and just by being there would have placed much more attention on her winning over Lupita. JLaw can’t avoid the Oscars, but she is very smart to avoid all the other major awards shows and luncheons this year. She doesn’t want to be overexposed and make people even more annoyed if she ends up winning the Oscar for a role many of us believe isn’t worthy of any major acting awards.

    • Felice says:

Maybe she already knows that she won the Oscar. I don’t know how long before the ceremony they decide the winners. Or she thinks that she has an edge over others to win and is trying to soften the blow by not showing up.

Also, I had an image from Office Space where they keep making JLaw pass the birthday cake to the next person and she ends up with no cake. That would never happen but it crossed my mind. In my household, if I or another kid were too grabby with dessert we would get the last piece. Maybe that’s why I’m a bitter adult :p

    • lucy2 says:

I just saw that she didn’t attend the BAFTA’s because she was stuck doing reshoots for the next X Men, which is coming out in just a few months. I don’t think she’s skipping on purposes, I think she really had to work and on that tight a schedule, the movie couldn’t afford to lose her for a couple of days for this. Lots of times actors haven’t been available to attend every award show.

  13. Renee says:

The internet did nothing to Anne Hathaway. Anne Hathaway’s cloying, insincere extra-ness did that to Anne Hathaway.

    • CC says:

LOL true, “it came truuuuueeeeee!!!!” was ALL AnnE. We didn’t make her say it, we just mocked it.

      • Miffy says:

AAARGH!!! STOP!!! That line!!! I nearly put my foot through the laptop screen.
‘It came true,’ as she cradled it like a f*cking newborn. GAG!!!

    • Mrs. Darcy says:

Yes, blaming the internet for Anne Hathaway is just ignoring the fact of….Anne Hathaway. She grates, she doesn’t seem sincere, or her sincerity is so cloyingly ott you just want to smack her. I never felt Jennifer’s Oscar campaign was anywhere near as nauseating. Totally different vibe from Jennifer, however much of it is contrived or what. I don’t think the cake thing is a big deal, only 5 yr olds care about getting the first piece. I can see J.Law being annoying in person with her puppy exuberance but most people who work with her seem to like her.

    • SonjaMarmeladova says:

I don’t understand why people hate her. She is talented, she seemed very grateful and she wanted to win. What is so wrong with wanting to win?

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

Just speaking for myself here, but Hathaway has never impressed me with her acting in anything – don’t get me wrong, I think she’s better than a lot of actresses, but I’ve never gone “Wow”. Her Oscar felt pre-destined, pre-determined, from the moment she started talking about crying over shaving her head, and while I know this isn’t all her fault, it just re-confirmed the feeling for me that year that it’s very rarely about the performance. She feigned surprise at every win while campaigning hard, that’s a nearly impossible level of faux to pull off. I do think J.Law has raw talent, although so far I haven’t honestly seen huge range from her and for me Winter’s Bone was her best role. I wish they’d stop having her playing characters that should be 10 yrs older because I just don’t buy it.

      • Dutch says:

It’s a combination of things really. First, a lot of people see her hyperactive theater kid personality as grating in the best of times. And for her Les Mis Oscar campaign that was dialed to 11. Secondly, it seemed like she was campaigning for the Oscar before she even got the role. Everything about her involvement in that project was overhyped and overblown from the word go. So by the time the Oscars rolled around, people just wanted her to take the award and go away.

      • SonjaMarmeladova says:

@Mrs. Darcy – I loved Anne in pretty much every role I’ve ever seen her.
The way yo feel about Anne i the way I feel about Jennifer – I’ve seen her in a lot of things and she never ever blew me away, she always seemed forced and she overacted ( I haven’t seen Winter’s Bone).

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Anne was annoying because she was trying to pretend like she wouldn’t sacrifice her own mama to the god Weinstein to get that Oscar.

And there’s quirky and weird, and then there’s annoying. One of my dad’s best friends is WEIRD, like so weird that I had a crush on him for about a minute (he’s actually really hot), and then it went away when I tried to imagine any PG or greater, because he’s freaking weird. But he’s not annoying. Anne is so damn try hard all the time, I have second hand embarrassment. Watch her on BOTH of her Actor’s Roundtable—she dialed it down for Les Miz, but she was a lot worse in the one with Rourke, Pitt, Downey, Hawkins, etc…

      • Miffy says:

DListed summed up Anne Hathaway beautifully around about the time her and James Franco hosted the Oscars: ‘If Rachel Berry was a real person, she’d be Anne Hathaway.’

And I haven’t been able to unsee it since.

Then having seen her in previous interviews where she was boisterous and ‘theatre kid’ (that ‘Paparazzi’ rap, anyone? Cringe! Youtube it!) to suddenly trying to switch her persona totally when her campaign started, I couldn’t. Personally, that was when she lost me. I loved her in Les Mis, she was actually amazing, but then the asthmatic baby voice, the doe eyes and the ‘Gosh, I’m just so gosh-darned happy to be nominated’ rubbish started. *eye-roll!* Like she wouldn’t shank any bitch who beat her to that Oscar!

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

@Sonja – Fair enough, to each their own 🙂 I’m not a J.Law fangirl or anything, I can see why you think she overacts, I think she is overeaching a lot of the times, I mean how can a 21 yr old or whatever she is honestly pull off these browbeaten, downtrodden blowsy women? In Winter’s Bone she played a character that was old beyond her yrs maybe but still a girl, similiar to Hunger Games, and I think she’s great in that context. I think she does have that indescribable thing that makes both men and women like her though, and that will take her far. I think she is in danger of a backlash by only doing such high profile & awards baity movies – I can’t knock her, who in her position would turn down working with great directors or starring in a huge franchise, but I do think she’d be better off changing it up a bit in the next few yrs, maybe with a comedy or character driven indie or something.

Anne has smartly gone away for a bit so I think people are less annoyed by her now. She needs to tone down the stage school wide eyed thing though, she’s 30 something and that stuff’s getting a bit silly now. I liked her in Devil Wears Prada, maybe they will do a sequel? I’m sure she’ll be fine and annoying us all again soon enough. Then again, there is the best supporting actress curse…;-0

  14. blue marie says:

No one ever gets the first piece of their cake, as they are the ones cutting it and handing it out. (or is this just my friends and family?) If Elizabeth isn’t upset by it then no one else should be either.

I loved her and Higgins in Pitch Perfect, so hilarious and I can’t wait for part 2.

  15. Shijel says:

*sigh* Am I supposed to find JLaw’s antics cute? Endearing? I don’t know. From the accounts of other people I can’t help but feel like JLaw is a rude person.

    • Ag says:

Sigh. That’s how I feel too. She just comes off as sort of rude and inconsiderate, yet her behavior is somehow packaged and seen as “awwwww-shucks, she’s just like one of us – CAKE!” I don’t get it.

    • redsolesista says:

Me three. I wouldn’t find her antics endearing in a child, let alone a 23 year old woman. A woman her age at my place of work acts like this, and almost everyone (no exaggeration) can’t stand her. People avoid going to after work events with her at all costs.

    • Miffy says:

The food schtick I could get behind, she was down to Earth and that was fine but lately she’s been tipping over into boorishness and it ain’t that friggin’ cute. Real back in the ‘I’m a rude glutton just like all you peasants!’ thing a bit, sweetheart.

  16. Jacqueline says:

I can’t do Nuun, it’s too fizzy and the pressure builds up in my bottles while I run. Plus, I’m not a big fan of the flavor. But now I just want some cake! Lol

    • Enny says:

Some of the flavors are gross, but the strawberry lemonade is actually pretty tasty!

    • Nerd Alert says:

I can’t do it either. Once I took it before a triathlon and on the bike portion I just vomited straight fizzy electrolytes. It tasted worse than it did going down, obviously, but it was so bad in the first place I’ll never forget. I prefer GU.

As for cake? Ugh. Most cake is not very good. I know this because there has been a new cake in my office every week for five years. I bet Elizabeth’s cake was decent, but I can’t muster excitement over something like cake. Does that make me boring? I’ll get excited over some MFing creme brulee or a cheese fountain but not cake.

    • paranormalgirl says:

Can’t do Nuun either for the same fizzy reason. Builds up in my bottles and basically explodes upon opening, and it makes me burp fizziness, the last thing I want when running.

  17. HadleyB says:

    A story about cake? Really?

These food stories are utterly ridiculous.

  18. Metis lady says:

I can forgive Jennifer Lawrence’s behaviour towards birthday cake. I’m 35 and I still get giddy over it however I always wait for the birthday boy/ girl to get their piece first ( perhaps I’ve matured with age) 🙂

    (I even have a second piece )

  19. lucy2 says:

    Now I want some cake.

I like Elizabeth Banks a lot. Pitch Perfect was goofy fun, I hope the sequel does well too.

  20. Dedre says:

    It’s working, I miss JLaw

  21. Kit says:

I seriously doubt that JLaw’s not attending the BAFTAs etc. is a tactic move. Girl is under a lot of pressure and has made it clear that that’s having an effect on her body. She’s probably trying to put herself under as little stress as possible.

On a side note: Elizabeth Banks is 23?! I always thought of her as a 35year old…

  22. Marianne says:

How is using Mockingjay as an excuse? You have no idea how much time Lionsgate will allow her to take off. Especially with Philip Seymour Hoffman dying before he could finish all his scenes, they might have to do re-shoots with stand-ins. We don’t know.

  23. kimbers says:

Doesnt the bday person usually pass out the cake? so Now I picture jlaw all cookie monster crazy in front of the line for her plate of cake. This mind snap makes me laugh:-)

  24. Falula says:

I scrolled all the way through the comments and it seems you’re almost right that everyone likes Elizabeth Banks, because I do not. I can’t explain it, I just don’t. I think Effie was the most irritating part of The Hunger Games (movie). And something about her voice just bugs me.

She does look adorable here, though. And the cake thing is a total non-story.

    • Marigold says:

Effie’s voice should bug you. And she’s also supposed to be irritating, particularly to Katniss.

  25. Cait says:

    I love her outfit!

… and we get it, JLaw loves food. I like her, but I’m totally bored over the food topic and how she likes to eat.

  26. Lucy says:

What’s the big deal about the cake thing? It seemed just a little innocent anecdote to me, and Elizabeth doesn’t seem annoyed about it at all. In fact, she (Liz) strikes me as the kind of person who has no problem getting along with everyone. I can’t wait to see The Lego Movie and I’m totally looking forward to Pitch Perfect II! This is gonna be a great year for her!!! As for Jen, I miss her, and I absolutely hate to see all the backlash she’s been getting. Whatever she does, girlfriend just can’t win.

  27. Jayna says:

    I love Elizabeth Banks.

  28. glaugh says:

    LOL what a non-story

Now I want CAKE!! Whats your favorite kind of cake?

My fave was Black Forest when I was a kid.

    • Felice says:

      Vanilla with strawberry filling 😀

On Valentine’s Day, I got a cupcake with strawberry icing and I took a bite and it was filled with custard. It was an amazing surprise.

    • SonjaMarmeladova says:

Black Forest is Schwarzwald cake, correct? That and Sacher cake are my all time favourites.

      • glaugh says:

Yes, I just looked it up and it is Schwarzwald cake. I didnt realize Black Forest cake is a German dessert – here I was thinking it was British *doh*

    • Daphne says:

Growing up my mother made the best Chocolate Layer Cake with lots of Chocolate Buttercream. And its still my favorite.

    • Miffy says:

You seriously just can’t beat a good chocolate cake… unless it’s a homemade carrot cake… oooh, now I’m torn. I better eat some cake while I think this over.

  29. maggy says:

i miss jennifer she is annoyingly adorable

  30. Alyce says:

In short: Team Jennifer, Team Banks, & Team Cake!

  31. P.J. says:

Oh for f**k’s sake: ENOUGH with all the obviously planted “Jennifer Lawrence eats tons of food, doesn’t that make her just awesome?!?!” stories! Newsflash: Consuming food is a part of the human experience that we all take part in. It hardly makes her a hero 😒 Idk what all of these stories are about (the Doritos/dress one was the end of the line for me-it just sounded like such a PR plant that I don’t believe it at all), but you know the saying “The lady doth protest too much”? To me where there’s smoke, there tends to be fire.

That is to say, this is all starting to feel very Blake “I never work out and eat as much of whatever I want always!” Lively from two or three years ago. I’ll never forget reading one of her big Vogue pieces in which the reporter said they met at ABC Kitchen and Blake went on and on about how she just LOVED pigging out/how good the food was/how much she was going to eat, proceeded to order more than half the menu for herself and LITERALLY ate a single tiny bite of thin crust pizza then incessantly encouraged the reporter to eat all the rest, all the while acting like it wasn’t bizarre. (I was actually really impressed that an interviewer was willing to report such behavior. SJP has also done the same in interviews.) Sigh.

    • Marigold says:

You do realize Banks actually said this in an interview, right? It wasn’t a planted story. She was asked a question about her recent birthday and the story about Jennifer eating cake was a part of her answer.

      • P.J. says:

@Marigold: YOU do realize that I clearly stated in my comment above that I believe the Doritos story from the American Hustle director was a publicity plant, right?? I mean, did you even take the time to actually read my comment before deciding to type out a reply?

For the life of me I’ll never understand people who make often rude, non-sensical retorts to things that someone hasn’t actually even said on the internet. Completely boggles the mind…

  32. Brittany says:

OMG What a non-issue this is! Sounds to me that a lot of gossip sites are doing everything they can to make people hate J-Law and over something as stupid as birthday cake. Wow. I think a new low has been hit.

  33. Source says:

Wait. There’s a story about JLAW having a piece of cake? And people are right. From the wording, it doesn’t appear she took the first piece. Just that she was the first to “delve in.”

Geez, claims of “inconsiderate” etc., etc., for merely eating a piece of cake. It was Elizabeth’s cake, and she thought it was cute, so it makes me laugh people getting all offended on behalf of Elizabeth.

Also, Jen didn’t spread this story. She wasn’t talking about eating. Elizabeth Banks did, so…

And let me tell you, I loves me some birthday cake. I may have to work out extra in the gym to get rid of it, but it’s SO worth it. Go, Jen. You get yourself some sugar, sugar.

  34. Curious Cole says:

Bedhead – Jennifer was in Montreal, doing re-shoots for X-Men. Her “excuse” for missing the BAFTAs was an actual job.

  35. Miffy says:

Not to steer from the real topic here (JLaw and her cake fetish, apparently): But I thought Elizabeth Banks answers on PSH were very gracious. There are a lot of celebrities who wouldn’t think twice about discussing in depth the loss of a friend to the public at large, Elizabeth was lovely and respectful.

  36. Lola says:

    Girl, get an aisle seat!

  37. mal23 says:

This sounds like Cake Day at the office. Someone gets stuck cutting it and the rest of us stand around awkwardly not wanting to be the first person to grab a slice. Sounds like JLaw doesn’t have that fear. No where in that article does it say she took cake before EB got any. I’m not a crazed fan so don’t start yelling, but the fact that people are getting upset about this story is hilarious.

  38. Bridget says:

Bedhead, why are you downing Nuun tablets that much? Electrolytes are naturally replenished in our diet, so unless you’re dehydrating yourself every day or working out and sweating extensively, you don’t really need to ingest extra (and even then, not really a ton). Sports drinks (even ones like Nuun) are products that are big because of marketing, not because we need them. I would highly recommend Tim Noakes book ”Waterlogged” on the subject (though Noakes is highly regarded as an author/expert on the subject of running, the book itself is a fascinating read).

    • Bedhead says:

I DO sweat a lot. Running 45-50 miles per week will do that to a person. My doctor told me to use 3-4 servings of Nuun per day while training. That’s only two tablets, and it’s made a huge difference for recovery.
