George Clooney’s new, official girlfriend Amal Alamuddin got pap’d in NYC two days ago. This ^^ is the photo. You can see more pics here – Lainey was super-excited about Amal’s outfit, but I’m not so sure. If Clooney Inc. is trying to sell us on the idea that George finally found a smart woman who will be his equal, is this the first pap-friendly outfit we really want to see? Not for me. I wanted to see her in a great suit, or maybe something by Diane Von Furstenberg. This outfit says… “I dress like a 22-year-old hipster with a trust fund.”
Anyway, we now have more details about George and Amal’s Tanzanian safari. Apparently, the whole thing was a huge vacation that began in Seychelles (an island off the coast of Africa) and then they went on safari.
Amal Alamuddin is one lucky lady. The British lawyer, who’s rumored to be dating A-lister and noted bachelor George Clooney, was whisked away by the Monuments Men actor for a tropical vacation in Seychelles, an island country not far off the coast of Southeast Africa in the Indian Ocean.
Clooney, 52, and Alamuddin, 36, were photographed walking together on March 13 on the beach in Seychelles (where Prince William and Kate Middleton honeymooned in 2011). Both looked appropriately breezy; Alamuddin wore a straw hat and a colorful beach cover-up, while Clooney sported a T-shirt and shorts. He had what looked like a beer in his hand, and she sipped from some kind of tropical fruit.
Rumors about the two first started to swirl when they were spotted together in London last October. At the time, however, Clooney was dating “Croatian Sensation” Monika Jakisic, and Alamuddin was “just a friend,” a source told Us.
Clearly, things have changed. The pair recently appeared at a special White House screening of the star’s latest movie, Monuments Men, where they “looked very much together,” a source told the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
“She’s very smart and can hold a conversation,” an insider tells Us Weekly of Alamuddin, noting that she and Clooney “are always very close” and engrossed in their own “private” discussions. “He does like having her around.”
Wow, she got a beach vacation and a safari vacation. And now she’s in NYC with Clooney? I guess her law firm is very forgiving about personal days, right? And now I’m worried. I’m worried that despite the fact that Amal has been billed as this hard-charging, brilliant lawyer, she’s still the kind of woman who will drop everything in her life (including her legal career) so she can be Clooney’s arm candy. Ugh!
The real test is seeing whether Amal makes it to the summer – Clooney likes to have a girlfriend for his summers at Lake Como. Usually, he debuts the new girlfriend during the summer. So… his timing is all off with this one. It’s almost like Clooney’s creature-of-habit girlfriend rollouts were becoming noticeable! So, will Amal make it to Como? Or will she have to work? Ha.

this could still be work. networking, either expanding professional contacts or courting prospective clients can be billed as networking expense?
i’ve seen a lot of company partners do nothing but wine and dine and it is logged into the office records as work, with an hourly rate and reimbursement rate higher than backbreaking menial work.
“this could still be work. networking, either expanding professional contacts or courting prospective clients can be billed as networking expense?”
LOL! Really. Which client do you bill that to?
It may be work related but it sure isn’t “billable” in any traditional sense.
You must not be friends or dated any lawyers, because they find a way to bill every single thing they do. And she was in Africa for a little bit and now New York, but just because you are a lawyer doesn’t mean you don’t get vacation time, or that she is doing work while she is away. Being a lawyer entails more than just being in court.
Some partners are paid a large salary to do just this; not billable, but a standard practice to bring in new business.
If her firm focuses on international law with a humanitarian twist, the association with Clooney could be the exposure they’re looking for. It’s not like she’s in a “two weeks of vacation” type of role.
Yes, a potential PR strategic move by the firm to get noticed crossed my mind. She is so above him. But perhaps their romance could be real.
Yes, they are the “rainmakers.” I know a woman who won a huge settlement for her client, and her law firm let her do whatever she wanted to bring other big catches in. She didn’t seem, to us, to be working at all.
She is not in a law firm. No Barrister works in a firm. Doughty Street is a “Chamber” which is a room (more or less) where groups of Barristers share legal clerks, administration costs etc. All barristers are self employed.
This differs a lot from US courts. If you need a Barrister which is the one who will represent you in front of a judge and jury you will not go and get one yourself, they are recommended by a solicitor. A solicitor will not defend you in court for a criminal offence, that is done by the barrister. Your solicitor will select the Barrister because of their particular expertise in an area (and your finances) and your solicitor may help him/her, but depends on the area of law you need a barrister for. To sum it up a barrister is a highly paid expert
According to her profile she obviously changed her career direction around end of 00’s. She was working in New York but seems to have decided on international law/human rights kind of cases. She is also in prosecution team of “Prosecutor v Ayash et al”. Prosecuting four men accused of assassinating former Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri in a special tribunal in The Hague. This is still in pre trial and when it gets under way, she will have little time free. She is a junior council not a silk (Queens council) so don’t expect her to be leading the prosecuting team. If you are interested this is about the Special Tribunal of Lebanon and what goes on there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mm29x9Gr1U
Amal is indeed, by definition, self-employed. She is beholden to her clients and associates. If she seems in any way to be less focused on, or slacking off, work it could be detrimental to her career.
Her new found celebrity could be deemed a great help and a damned nuisance to the aforementioned.
Also, in this day & age, can’t a lot of attorneys do work from home? Just because she’s on vacation doesn’t mean she’s not talking to clients and getting stuff done.
I thought that too.
She’s a barrister, not a solicitor. For you americans, solicitors stay in the office (mostly), writing wills, doing real estate conveyances, etc. and instruct barristers (who appear and argue in court). As a barrister, it would be pretty hard to work from home. In England, you are one or the other. Here in Canada, we are both.
Honestly she doesn’t look that much different from any other Clooney exes except for the degree, she seems to love the attention way too much.
That’s what I thought too when I saw her smiling wide in all these pictures – she’s obviously loving the attention.
Be honest: wouldn’t you?
I noticed that too. She may not be that different from George’s exes after all.
Agree. That was my photo assumption from the pics that Lainey posted yesterday — she’s LIKES the attention and had a very coy smile in all of them.
And I love Kaiser’s description of “dresses like a 22 year old hipster with a trust fund.”
Absolutely. She wants to be famous. I’m sure she’s booking her first fashion magazine spread right now. Or we’ll start seeing her on talk shows as a celebrity legal expert.
She’s already famous and she doesn’t need any help professionally – getting a legal analyst gig on a cable news show is way beneath her professionally. Clooney is elevated more by his association with her than visa versa.
I don’t agree. Maybe in some arenas she’s well-known but I’d never heard of her prior to her association with Clooney.
Meh. Personally, I think she’s slumming being with Clooney.
Meh I don’t think she’s acting like an attention ho. If you’re gonna date george Clooney media interest is part of the deal and how you present that publicly affects both their images as high profile people in their respective fields. Smiling and letting them get shots of you after a public confirmation is part of the reality and acting more resistant or surprised to the attention would ring more false to me.
Agreed. Like Amber trying to hide her ring finger and get people talking about is she or isnt she engaged to johnny.
From the header photo I thought he was hooking up with the tart strumpet who recently birthed Simon Cowell’s offspring.
Maybe she’s in NYC for work and he’s following her around? Ha! That would be awesome.
That was my initial thought. He doesn’t live in NY or really go there unless he has something to promote
The UN is in New York, so she may have some billable hour work there. I saw that she’s on some human rights commissions, so it’s possible she’s there for work, not him. And not that it matters, but I think her outfit is horrible for a 36-year-old professional woman, even if it’s after-hours.
Maybe they’re going golfing.
Helpfully yours,
bluhare
“A smart woman, who is George’s equal” ….What makes anyone think George is smart??? And how insulting to the women that he has dated in the past to assume, just because they aren’t lawyers, they aren’t smart! Last time I checked, Clooney was in the entertainment field, the same as many of his past girlfriends…
I think he’s definitely one of the smarter actors. But it’s so weird that she’s praised for being able to “hold a conversation”. Wow, the woman can actually hold a conversation, she must be the next Marie Curie or something!
That bit stuck out to me too. A dig at his exes, maybe?
I suspect he prefers that his women speak to him in Braille.
This woman is much more accomplished than him. He is not her equal. I hope George doesn’t bring her down.
Just because she has a degree doesn’t mean she’s more accomplished than George.
I know it’s because George is a huge multimillionaire and she’s just an average person, but if you want to make the argument her law degree = more accomplished than George, then all his millions donated to charity has saved and helped more lives than she will ever help in her lifetime….thus more accomplished than her.
Ehm. Donating money to charity does not make someone ‘accomplished’ either. ‘Accomplished’ means: skilled. I’d say ms. Alamuddin is probably a highly skilled woman, working as a succesful lawyer and all. But then, so is George, he’s an accomplished actor and director. Whether one of them is smarter than the other- who knows. I assume there are not-too-smart lawyers (in fact, I know a few of them) and smart actors.
It’s not that she’s ‘just a lawyer’ look at her resume she’s won awards and is involved with prestigious universities like Oxford and NYU. As far as I can tell she had much more cache than George who for instance was once mocked by the UN during a summit. This isn’t a woman you would call to handle a traffic ticket she’s upper echelon of international law.
I would say lawyer > actor/director, any time, any day. And a donation doesn’t take any skill or energy, George hands out money, wow that’s hard work. I guess it’s because celebs are usually greedy vain a-holes that we feel the need to praise those who are an exception to the rule?
Why do we praise celebrities for things that some people are doing everyday anyway? There are many people who volunteer to help the needy on top of a job. There are many students who go abroad and volunteer. People in the social field do much more than donating once in a while and they don’t have an infinite bank account to fund their non-existent extravagant lifestyle!
Clooney is ‘more accomplished’ than a woman who studied for years to develop a high set of skills and knowledge? Since when? It’s not just the degree, it’s the fact that she dedicates the majority of her life to it unlike Clooney who takes up political causes as a side job. It’s easy to flow in and out things you like unlike regular people who have to make a choice and stick to it to get somewhere and that ish ain’t easy. Actors couldn’t commit to a degree or anything ‘real’ to save their life, that’s why most of them quit uni and work odd jobs until they get their acting break. They get bored so easily and Clooney is/was no different.
@Luca26:
Remember his Oscar speech in 2006 that was mocked by Southpark (Smug Alert?). He’s so full of himself at times.
Luca, I agree. She is a very accomplished lady. Not like George’s exes at all.
Check out her professional accomplishments:
Amal Alamuddin is a barrister specialising in international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law. She has represented clients in cases before the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, as well as in domestic courts in the UK and US. She is fluent in French and Arabic and has particular expertise in international criminal law and the Middle East region.
Amal’s cases include Cambodia v Thailand (representing Cambodia at the International Court of Justice in Temple of Preah Vihear territorial claim ); Prosecutor v Senussi and Gaddafi (representing Abdallah Al Senussi, former Libyan intelligence chief, in case of alleged crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court); Tymoshenko v Ukraine (representing Yulia Tymoshenko, former Ukrainian Prime Minister, in human rights claim at the European Court of Human Rights); Sweden v Assange (representing Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, in extradition proceedings at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, London); Prosecutor v Ayyash et al (as member of prosecution team in case against four persons accused of assassinating former Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon); and Prosecutor v Milosevic (as judicial assistant to Judge Patrick Robinson, Presiding Judge on trial of former Head of State Slobodan Milosevic at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia).
Amal also provides advice to governments and individuals on international law, and has been appointed to a number of UN commissions. She was an adviser to Special Envoy Kofi Annan on the Syrian peace process in 2012. She acts as Counsel to the Inquiry launched by UN human rights rapporteur Ben Emmerson QC into the use of drones in counter-terrorism operations. And she was a legal adviser to the King of Bahrain in connection with the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry headed by Professor Cherif Bassiouni in 2011.
She also co- edited a book and is a speaker at legal seminars.
Thank you Dana!
My sources: her linkedin and her employer’s website. Google her name.
@artemis I totally agree that this lady is way more accomplished than George Clooney ( and i like him) But i do not agree that lawyer.> actor/director in all cases. That is to devalue the arts totally. Not all lawyers are at a high level just like not all actors are. And to the same effect some actors/directors produce work of such hugh quality that it enriches our culture. You cant put professions against eachother lin such a simplistic manner. They are different. But i agree that this lady seems like she is a the top of her profession and has a different intellectual gravitas. George is good at what he does but he is no Daniel Day Lewis, or Bergman or Kubrick or even Scorsese (vintage).
@Tia:
I love the arts and I agree about art enriching culture (I live in England and the theatre is just amazing!) but we need more lawyers and doctors and less people who want to play make believe or just become famous. Most of them don’t know what else to do (or can’t do anything because they have low self-esteem and drop out of school) so they end up in dead-end jobs anyway.
Too many young people glorify the arts when in reality, most artists don’t make it because their ambitions and ‘dreams’ don’t equal their talent and hard work. I rather encourage young people to study something instead of making them chase a dream that too many people have. We have enough ‘aspiring’ artists living a dog’s life.
Actually Artemis, law firms are dropping lawyers left and right and hiring paralegals at half the price to do the same jobs. It has been a well-known fact that law schools graduate extraordinary numbers of lawyers into a market that has no need for them. We may have a doctor shortage, but the world could do with a few less lawyers for sure.
All I can say is from all the pictures I’ve seen of her/them she seems to love the attention she getting.
As a fellow attorney, I would drop my life-sucking job to hit up the beach, safari, New York, and/or Lake Como. That fact has zero to do with Mr. Clooney.
Im just curious,is the salary good?
Salaries for lawyers can vary widely. I have always worked for medium to big law firms and I think starting salary is around $160K and you move up from there. First time partners might be in the $200-$300K zones. But the attorneys are also entitled to large bonuses based on how well the firm performs and how much the individual is valued, such as if you put in a ton of billables and/or work on a very successful case, etc. I don’t recommend going to law school unless you know what you want to do with your degree because paying of a $100K or more loan can be daunting.
I’m assuming TG is american. This varies elsewhere in the world. Salary varies with the discipline, the city, the size of the firm (if you’re with one) and your experience level.
Ha!
Bjf …. Oh man, me too. I’d trade billables for a bikini any day of the week.
Exactly. I would too. No wonder she’s smiling so much; she’s just happy to be out of the office.
Well, if she’s in love and is courted by Clooney…I’m not a big fan of him, but still, in those early stages of a relationship who wouldn’t want to be with the other person all the time? Maybe she has saved up a lot of vacation days?
All of this is probably still new to her, plus it doesn’t hurt to get exposure to bring in potential clients. The lady has the credentials so cut her some slack. Plus if this is a day off, why should she have to dress to impress anyone?
Agree. Also, I think in the highly unlikely event that the paps started following me, I would smile and try to be friendly out of fear that if I didn’t, they would hate me and be worse. So I don’t think she’s necessarily loving the attention the way people are saying.
ITA! I mean…what’s the alternative? Frowning and looking grumpy?
@megs – There’s also pouting and posing like V.Beckham
Or she could flip them off and stick out her tongue like Miley, or wear a paper bag over her head or a mask like Bieber. Lol
Thank you, blue marie.
I don’t know why people are slagging these two when this woman is the bloody polar opposite to all his other girlfriends. How long have people been saying he needs to break his pattern and not date Las Vegas waitresses or washed up wrestlers? Well, he has, and you’re still bitching!
uh….he’s still in his comfort zone.
“Clooney and French law student Cellin Balitran met in 1996 while she was waiting tables in France. She moved to Los Angeles for George but the couple later split in 1999” — http://www.hollyscoop.com/george-clooney/biography
Yeah don’t get the judgemental comments either. If you’re gonna enter a relationship with George Clooney and you’re a big deal in your own professional right, you know people will be interested. Their relationship was just confirmed so I just see her being a sport and smiling because of course people are curious.
She may be in NYC for business, and Clooney may be following her around After all, doesn’t she work with the U.N. in some aspect? 😉
She’s so young, so I doubt this is the case…but I have an Uncle who is a big wig at a law firm and he spends a shit load of time sailing and basically only represents a few clients. So it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the situation here…But he also worked insane, insane hours until he was in his 50s to climb to the top of the food chain before he basically went “eff it.”
Isn’t she involved in the Ayyash et al Case? If so, although that has started, these kinds of cases get delays and isn’t fully underway yet, so she is probably having down time (maybe meetings in NY?) before she needs to be in court
Geez… isn’t she a decade too old for him? 🙂
And I completely agree this newest candidate for “Public Girl Friend 2014”, is loving the attention.
Which means she will have a short shelf life with Clooney. If there is one thing I have always notice with him. His girls rarely speak openly. They are to stand there and be pretty. Having a opinionated girl who loves the attention…will not end well.
So she better work it while she can.
Clooney has never dated young like DiCaprio has, so no she isn’t too old.
Isn’t she Julian Assange’s lawyer? Well he’s not going anywhere, is he.
HAH! Win! 😄
Thanks for the laugh, Kelly 🙂
🙂
I think George Clooney is fairly smart for an actor. But I’m starting to agree with the people yesterday who were annoyed on her behalf by all this “she’s one lucky lady!” and “she’s his equal.” Really?
Misogyny at it’s finest.
yup!
Wtf! I love those shoes…
Me too! I love her whole outfit (it looks much better in the photos where she’s standing).
me too
i love you girls, I love this outfit, I would’ve opted for secret socks though
Maybe she is on vacation. I mean even lawyers have and do take vacation time.
It is always funny to me that people think George is so smart. Just because you speak well and can turn a phrase doesn’t mean you are smarter than the average guy. It is also interesting how quickly some are already knocking the woman and painting her as an opportunist. Now sure exactly what George can gain her in regard to her field. George needed his father’s contacts when he started his Humanitarian work. She works in International Law. Sad that she is being reduced to George’s arm candy.
Maybe soon he will be her arm candy. Now we may see her saying “George, no fart jokes, no name dropping Hollywood actors and for god sakes do not bring up sexiest man alive “
She’s very accomplished as an attorney. Worked for a few years at one of NYC’s top firms. Now, she seems to do high-profile international work in London. But I do wonder if she can put in the “face time” that George Clooney requires from his girlfriends. Maybe he’ll live his life around hers?
Naaahhhh!!!!
Free massive international advertising for her firm. The vacation is practically paying for itself.
Maybe he is “debuting” her now because she will be working in the summer ?
and maybe she’s getting all this time off work because she has some days saved up and her firm agreed this will be mutually beneficial.. People who need a good lawyer may see her around all the time with George and may want to hire her thus bringing in more money to the firm and that’s why they’re so okay with her being gone for so long?
She works for the UN in some capacity she may be in nyc for work in relation to that or something else. Her clients include people like the former prime minister of ukraine, i doubt she can just drop it all to follow clooney around.
I think the problem with Amal is that she looks like a “22 – year – old hipster with a trust fund” ( very well put Kaiser) and she is acting accordingly. She doesn’t work in entertainment but if she lives on planet Earth she knows the game, the paps, the impact of such a relationship on her work, etc.
Entertainment is one of the very few work fields (along with sports) where ‘miracle’ stories of people making it from scratch actually can happen (within certain limits). In other fields of work you need money to make it, to get an education first of all and to rise with talent, confidence and networking. And if you do have the money and brains to get the right education and you actually live among the right kind of people, the road to success is guaranteed. Amal seems to fit this bill.
Anyway, that is a horribly Hollywood – like outfit, I would see Kate Bosworth in something like that.
I’m ok with her, just wonder how she’ll manage to be a “Clooney Girlfriend” and manage a full-time job.
Where is her office? As in city, country. She’s British but does she work in the UK or the US? I kinda skimmed this whole thing.
If she’s self – employed I’m sure she can manage her own free time. Many barristers in London who are self – employed can be affiliated with a company & manage/accept their own work flow. Same goes for self – employed solicitors who may be in a partnership.
Why would we assume an international human rights lawyer has to be only in London in order to work?
She’s defending one guy against extradition on rape charges and advising another who admitted to not doing enough about a genocide that occurred under his watch and who dismissed sexual harassment charges against a top official. Whatever one’s opinion of Assange and Annan’s guilt or innocence in these matters may be, how does this qualify her as a human rights lawyer?
Thank you. I have been wondering about this myself.
Yes, thanks for bringing that up. It is driving me crazy that everybody keeps calling her a human rights lawyer. Human Rights Law is a body of law designed to promote and protect human rights. She is just a high paid criminal attorney whose clients have money to personally retain her services. Also,in order for her to practice law in the United States she has has to be part of one of the State Bar . You can’t come over from England and just start practicing law. I work for one of the big law firms in Chicago and there is no way, no matter how accomplished she is would she make partner at her age . At 36 years old, she would be a senior associate or maybe a Jr Partner if she can bring in some big clients. In my firm, these lawyers are working 90 hour work weeks, billing a lot of hours and maybe take a week off a year. I am getting to think she is no different from the rest of the girls he has dated. Willing to give it up to be George’s girlfriend. The only difference between Amal and the rest of the girls she has more degrees,
Annan’s guilt or innocence? Kofi Annan?? What? Kofi Annan was trying to facilitate a peace process and quit out of frustration of the lack of progress. He is from Ghana. At no point was he accused of killing people in Syria or in the position if having to defend himself in court! She was advising Annan as he did this; how does that make her a defense attorney??
Go up and read Dana’s summary of her career. There is a lot of info there in regards to her work and she very clearly is a lawyer specialising in human rights and international law.
The second part of that relates to Assange too. Assange, by the way, has not actually been formally charged. He is wanted for more questioning in regards to accusations, not of rape but of sexual molestation. Many believe this is a farce intended to allow the US a chance to extradite him from Sweden. This explains why an expert in international law would be involved.
As for the comments below in regards to her working in NY and hours worked in a firm; various people have answered this above. From what I’ve read about her, she worked in NY before working in London, so would be able to work there still, already having sat the bar, etc. Even if that wasn’t the case, working for the UN and being an expert in international law, she could be in New York in a work capacity without actually needing to go to court there.
Finally, as a barrister based in London she would be affiliated with law firms but actually work for herself and therefore dictate her own hours and holidays. Not all law systems are the same as the US’s; and for that matter, people in the US get only 2 weeks holiday a year; but a lot of other countries get more. In Australia we get four.
So there you go.
Maybe she can work remotely via conference calls, etc.
Kaiser you should google this lady. Lets not reduce her into a stereotypical woman who drops everything to be with a man please, at least not until we know thats the case.
Google her and you will see she holds a number of positions in the UN and lectures in american universities and conferences. I could see a lot of valid reasons to be in NY excluding George Clooney.
http://www.doughtystreet.co.uk/barristers/profile/amal-alamuddin
I have googled her and all the results on the 1st page introduce her as Clooney’s new girlfriend, with no specific info on her professional field. The first link about her is the one you posted.
I am curious to know how a law magazine presents this news. And please don’t tell me that no one gossips in the lawyer world. The reason why movies and Hollywood make so much money is that they tap into human nature…everyone gossips, everyone likes the attention, everyone wants to take a vacation in Tanzania with Clooney.
So how long before we get the Angelina is mad jealous and intimidated by Amul stories? I say the National Enquirer does it first.
Hahaha good call. Though the brad-george bromance hasn’t received much love lately.
Barristers like Amal are self- employed. They are hired by law firms on a case by case basis to provide highly paid specialist legal advice, strategy and advocacy (like a trial attorney). The difference between a barrister and what Americans know as a lawyer or attorney is like the difference between a specialist surgeon and a general practitioner doctor (MD).
The job can be as intense or flexible as each individual wants. So it is entirely plausible that she has decided to take some time off between big hearings/ trials to enjoy some Clooney time. No one to answer to but herself, and I expect her daily charge out rate is more than adequate to compensate for it.
As an example when I became a barrister after working as a lawyer for 5+ years in Ausyralia, I calculated that I only needed to work 10 hours per week as a barrister to make my lawyer salary- as I was self employed I didn’t have a law firm’s overheads which cut into personal profit. London is far more lucrative for barristers than where I’m from as well.
Great info, thx DD.
The one thing missing from everyone’s discussion about how she can afford to be following Clooney around is that it seems pretty clear that she came from a wealthy family. Theres no way she could have attended the schools she has without having family money. Her manner is that of someone raised in wealth. She went to boarding schools. And, in many of her cases she appears to be second chair. She doesn’t need to work.
Thanks- the assumptions here about her dropping everything for George is laughable.
Interesting thanks, I was wondering about the difference!
Amal works for the UN so why wouldn’t she be in New York on a regular basis? It’s actually kind of sad that people here automatically assume a sought after solicitor has no other reason to be in New York than an American movie star. How banal. She isn’t a divorce lawyer or something domestic like that, her field is international law and human rights, that means she has a global client base.
People are saying she works for the United Nations so maybe its George thats following her around? Whats his reason to be in nyc? He lives in LA doesnt he?
I like and appreciate that Clooney is moving away from bimbo/wrestler/rent girl ways. His past few relationships flat out felt like he had contempt for the smart women who were fueling his career. I believe his swanning around the award shows with that loathsome wrestler cost him the Academy Award he should have won.
…She seems way too happy and comfortable with papparazi…
She’s a young lawyer. She can’t work from home or give some vague ‘networking’ excuse. She will be expected to work extremely long days and weekends – that’s the reality of the profession. She seems to enjoy the attention, and being known as Clooney’s latest isn’t necessarily good for a professional person’s reputation. Seems she is choosing a fleeting celeb hookup over her career.
No, she’s a very successful barrister based out of London. Which means she works for herself and dictates her own hours and holidays.
Wow! You all are crazy. All of you are reading way too much into Clooney’s relationship with this lady. Does it really matter if she’s a lawyer, wrestler, cocktail waitress, or model? Clooney doesn’t give a s%#t what anyone commenting on a gossip site thinks about him or his relationships. You women are never going to be satisfied with any woman that isn’t you. You all are so critical and judgmental of every woman this site posts stories about. Take the Woodley girl for example…you all analyzed, judged, and criticized everything little thing she said. Yes, some of it was silly but that was it. Some of you were taking the silly little things she was saying personally. I think some of you just need to take a deep breath and step away from the computer and live your own lives for a second.
“I think some of you just need to take a deep breath and step away from the computer and live your own lives for a second.”
You should take your own advice.
The comment Clooney is moving away from his rent girl ways, and still he just picked up another rent girl now how silly is that comment. Another this lady is very smart, smart? She has just entered into a romance with a man who uses women for a few months and then drop them like a hot potato, how smart is that? Just another stupid vapid woman like the rest who craves attention, maybe she never had enough attention as a baby. Smart is women like Sandra bullock, Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie, Clooney will not pursue women like them because they would not stand for his nonsense for one minute and would tell him where to go to sell his crap. A monkey knows what tree it can climb.
What is everyone’s definition of smart? What’s led Angelina (Homewrecker) Jolie so smart? I’m just trying to get a gauge. Many of these actors are simply playing a role anyway.
“She can hold a conversation.”
Wow. That line speaks for itself. I guess the bar is pretty low to be considered a Clooney girlfriend.
I mean, I like the guy, but the demeaning statements that are being said like “she is on his level” are really setting the women’s movement back.
The comments in general being said about this woman are setting the woman’s movement back… I’m shocked. She has a life outside of Clooney, let’s speculate every minuscule detail about her and rip her to shreds. She smiled at the paparazzi?! The horror! Give me a break.
if a woman dates clooney her emotional intelligence will be questioned, along with her other choices and actions. he can only bring a woman down because of his dating history and behaviour.
i question why she’s with him. she may be madly in love with him but most likely with his sophisticated male persona.
he is a drunk who needs to be around a posse of guys all the time. no world-wise woman would tolerate that for long.
I don’t think you can judge someone on who they date, but that’s just my opinion! I’ve dated some real winners, and I think I’m a fairly intelligent woman. So I may be biased! 🙂
I think she deserves forgiveness for any lapse on judgement. After all it seems like she has been really focussing on her career. Wow is she ever pretty.
She’s a barrister- in the UK that means you are very often self employed and are simply attached to a chambers, hence you can take off as much time as you want!
Is she employed by one law firm or multiple high-profiled clients?
I’m judging those shoes. Hard.
In the US lawyers can take sabbaticals, not sure about the UK. But maybe they timed making their relationship public with a sabbatical, knowing that she’d be papped and hounded? That way, it wouldn’t interfere with work and she wouldn’t have paps ather office (which I can’t see a law firm appreciating). I’m sure this was all carefully planned. And after investing so many years in a powerful, stressful career I can’t see her throwing it all away.
Hello narcissus! She looks sooooo much like him!
“Maybe in some arenas she’s well-known but I’d never heard of her prior to her association with Clooney.” —
Typical comment. Just because some of you never heard of her doesn’t mean she’s a nobody famewhore. That says more about you than about her.
It’s really embarrassing when people pile on with negative assumptions and yet know so little. It’s so easy to google someone BEFORE you start making nasty conjectures.
But if you can’t put her down then how can you make yourself feel BETTER? How DARE she be accomplished and famous to others and also have the nerve to smile when she’s appearing with a big movie star? The nerve.
What are you getting all excited about? They were talking about whether or not she was motivated by an enjoyment of fame. Some say yea, some say nay.
Another famewh0re girlfriend who just happen to have a degree. Yawn.
She may be smitten with him, but him?! It’s all about the image to Clooney, who’s be linked to her for months, but just confirmed by people right after Mrs. Pobre’s marriage .
His people do a good research in all blogs especially the ones about him only. When he was dating Canalis, there were polls asking what kind of woman he should date next. People answered: blonde, tall, all American girl. And Keibler came to the scene. While he was dating Keibler and his fans were upset his was dating a wrestler, many fans asked why he didn’t date a lawyer involved in humanitarian causes, etc. Now he is dating Amal?! Too much of a coincidence… I think NOT!
Image is his prime focus and he can state he doesn’t pay attention to what people think but he does and follows suit.
yes, this is all about clooney’s image. his so called relationships are only about pr.
i can only guess what this young woman is getting out of it except vacations and a lot of attention. i think it will not be good for her career to be known as a movie stars girlfriend, especially clooney’s girl.
This outfit says… “I dress like a 22-year-old hipster with a trust fund.” Funny you say that, because her family started and I still think owns Middle East Airlines, The main airline in Lebanon.
Those trousers are atrocious!
I still can’t get past her looking like an older version of Anne Hathaway. Hopefully she’s not as annoying. Looks like she’s enjoying the attention though so she’s technically already a goner.
