Angelina Jolie wears Michael Kors, YSL in New York: classic or boring?

FFN_Jolie_Angelina_AAR_051214_51409074

Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie, out and about in NYC yesterday. The paparazzi rarely bother her, you know? It’s almost like she couldn’t care less that they’re taking her photo. She even made sure they got photos of her whole ensemble, and she waved to them too. Apparently, Angelina was going to a meeting on the Upper East Side. E! News says the meeting lasted three hours and it was with Martin Scorsese. Huh.

As for her ensemble, the pants and blouse are Michael Kors and the bag is Yves Saint Laurent. Her ELLE shoot was exclusively YSL, and she’s been wearing a lot of YSL over the past year, year and a half. Maybe she just loves Hedi Slimane. Maybe she just loves the goth-business realness of the current YSL line. Maybe she has some kind of undercover contract with YSL. I don’t know. I would imagine Michael Kors is really happy to see Angelina in his clothes though. I’m not crazy about the pants (are they high-waters?), but the blouse is fine.

According to E! News, Brad Pitt and Shiloh and definitely in the city too. There are photos of Shiloh and Pax out and about, I’m hoping ZZ and Angelina’s Shadow are also in town. By the way, Brad and Angelina came out for the premiere of The Normal Heart last night – I’ll have those photos later this morning.

A bit dull but classy. She’s got a beautiful face but I’m always a bit thrown off to see how thin she is. In a lot of pictures you can see her veins which is…startling

    • Aurie says:

Her forearm veins only first came about in 2007-2008 (and come out now and again) when she became pregnant with the twins, after having lost ~10 lbs due to her mom’s death.

Her forehead vein has ALWAYS been there…it was visible in the 1st Tomb Raider movie which was filmed in 2000.

And apart from that, that really is her natural body shape.

Look at the size of her legs at age 20:

Or this W magazine photoshoot taken in March 2005:

She actually has veiny arms in the 2002 film “Life or Something like It,” which is the film I always suggest for people (and I’m not talking about you) who insist Angie was always ‘heavier’ when she was younger. In “Life or Something Lite It” her arms and legs are ‘exactly’ the same size they are today, minus those pounds she loss from her torso (as you’ve pointed out) after her mother’s death, that (with the kids and a far busier life) she has never regained.

  2. Jade says:

Classic & classy! This is curently my winter colour palette so I’m loving her wardrobe at the moment.

Me too! I think she looks classy and timeless. 🙂

    • Sal says:

      Agreed.

  3. notpretentious says:

They’re crop pants. I like them.

    • LadyMTL says:

I like them too (and the bag is lovely) but there’s something about the fit of the trousers up top that’s throwing me off. They look a bit too baggy in the crotchal area.

      • Stef Leppard says:

She looks very elegant, but I agree, the pants seem like they aren’t properly tailored.

  4. sullivan says:

    She looks good. Casual chic.

  5. claire says:

My birthday is tomorrow. Can someone please give me those YSL glasses. thank you.

Edit – The Scorsese meeting is for the role of Ava Gardner in the Sinatra Biopic ?

I love everything she’s wearing, and I want that bag. For the people arguing before, I definitely think she was wearing some kind of wig/hair piece with the raven dress, especially if you compare how her hair looks here.

    • Aurie says:

I don’t think a wig, but probably extensions for volume (not necessarily for length).

I don’t know … I hope this doesn’t offend anyone, but I’ve always thought this is how white girls’ hair looked (at least the white sistahs I know) when they haven’t done anything to their hair to give it volume. Am I wrong?

      • Jay says:

Huh? That’s absurd. White people have all different types of hair.

      • KB says:

My hair is naturally straight, so that’s how my hair looks when I just blow dry it.

      • Jayna says:

Angie used to have thicker hair. It has thinned since having babies, which happens to some women. She was definitely wearing some type of hairpiece the other night. Someone who is knowledgeable about the different types, pointed out telltale signs along her hairline. It was obvious she used something to make her hair thicker all over, even on top of her head, not just extensions. There was no way to get your hair that thick on top without something. The other nights when her hair was swept up, she just had it teased on top, and then the next evening shot with the powder she wore her hair naturally

I wonder when she has her hysterectomy and goes into menopause early if her hair will thin even more. My mother when she had a hysterectomy in her late thirties had hair thinning and a thinning spot on top that you could see her scalp. She was always teasing her hair to try to cover it.

    • doofus says:

yeah, I stayed out of that argument as I wasn’t too sure about a wig OR a partial hairpiece, but seeing these pics made me wonder about those white-dress pics…hairpiece or LOTS AND LOTS of hairspray to give it some volume?…

I like the outfit…simple but chic.

    • Cecilia says:

The possibility of a wig was discussed the other day. A few posters, including myself, thought the hairline was unnatural & it was a different length & color. I was reading on a couple of different sites & the general consensus was, it was a wig. I personally don’t know for sure but I bet we’d be surprised at the number of lace fronts, extensions & hair pieces that are floating around Hollywood.

  7. blue marie says:

I like the pants on her but for me, I can never find shoes/sandals that look good with it. And I’m shorter so 3/4 crop pants wind up being like 7/8 on me.

She looks good, but she normally does so..

    • Aurie says:

I mean I think she’s absolutely beautiful, but she normally looks very……kind of old lady style? Like her normal outfits are very formal and proper…….whereas women like Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry have great, youthful styles.

      • blue marie says:

Is she afraid she won’t be taken seriously?

      • Kiddo says:

Yeah, I’m thinking it’s the elder stateswoman look. Not that she is old, just a projection of position.

      • LeahMommy says:

I’ve never thought about it like but it could true that she doesn’t want to appear too casual and not be taken seriously which is why she keeps dressing so old and baggy.

      • sullivan says:

She is dressed like an adult going to a business meeting. Appropriate, but not lacking style. She doesn’t seem to care about having “youthful style,” which is refreshing since far too many Hollywood actresses tend to look like mutton in lamb’s clothing.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Aurie, who wrote: “whereas women like Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry have great, youthful styles.”

I think the only actress among those you’ve mention going for a ‘youthful’ style is Jennifer Aniston. From the photos I’ve seen, Charlize and Halle tend to dress like adult women rather than early ‘twenty-something.’

  8. Julia says:

She looks great for what appears to have been a business meeting– it’s simple, it’s classic, and it’s about getting the work done.

  9. thinkaboutit says:

Its not called YSL anymore, its Saint Laurent. So the bag is vintage, not hot off the production line as it would likely be if they had some sort of covert deal. And why would they spend millions to engage her and not publicize the hell out of it? I think she’s just wearing what she has and likes.

  10. Helvetica says:

    Love this entire outfit.

She would look SO good if she gained 5-7 lbs.

  11. Samantha25 says:

I don’t see why people have such a problem with this outfit. It’s just a white shirt and black pants. Absolutely appropriate for a business meeting. People always go through phases of liking certain designers, colors, etc. Assuming a bid for a fashion contract doesn’t make sense.

    • Cecilia says:

I don’t have a problem with her outfit at all. It is timeless, classic & safe. Perfect for a business meeting.

  12. QQ says:

boring AND classic and good for her… I Covet these shoes!

  13. LaurieH says:

High waters? They are cropped pants and very much in style now. Personally, I love them (and own several pairs) because they shift the focus onto your fabulous shoes (that would otherwise be obscured by regular length pants). They are tricky pants to wear and hard for curvier or heavier gals to wear (where they do actually look like high waters). To me, it’s a classic outfit. What I love about Angelina’s style is 1) her neutral palette and 2) her minimalism.

  14. KattyKitty says:

I feel like the bag is old. Isn’t YSL just Saint Laurent now?

  15. Andrea1 says:

    She looks simple and classy

  16. neelyo says:

Her style for the last few years has reminded me of Audrey Hepburn circa 1970 onward.

  17. Mrs. Lecter says:

Oof the Normal Heart premiere was a mess. The make up artist messed Angelina UP.

    • shellybean says:

Omg, I saw those pictures! Horrid white powder on her everywhere! I don’t know why makeup artists keep using that crap, they should know by now that it shows up in pictures. It was even on her legs and her chest! That is a fireable offense!

      • Allie says:

I know! The powder was even in her hair. It looked like she rolled around in it!

      • ataylor says:

It’s that HD powder that most professional makeup lines (and most makeup artists are obsessed with using) have now. Ironically, it’s not white powder. It blends with the skin and comes in different shades. Meant for specifically for television, but not with flash photography because the highly mineral-infused talc used in the powder, bounces light off its surface and makes you look less wrinkly on camera (and look like you’ve been hoovering up coke if captured on still photo/flash). That white sheen means the MU artist didn’t BLEND thoroughly — although in the MU artists defense, it IS hard to see since it’s flesh toned.

        It shouldn’t have been used.

It the same effect that sunscreens with Titanium Dioxide give people “white face” when taking pictures of themselves outside. Anyone remember seeing that Eva Longoria cheerleading photo? Blame her sunscreen.

  18. Kali says:

Now why can’t I find a budget version of THIS outfit in stores as opposed to the 90’s grunge malarkey in there at the moment…..?!?

    • doofus says:

try Old Navy…I know their stuff is kinda low quality…like wear it for one season and then it’s done, but it IS very inexpensive…I was there the other day and they have crops in all colors.

very cute and surprisingly good quality, too.

  19. serena says:

I’d like to see her with a darker brown haircolour, but other than that she’s perfect and classy as always.

  20. shellybean says:

She looks beautiful and classic. Love this look on her.

  21. Maggie says:

While I love the pants I don’t think they fit very well. She has a difficult body to dress as her waist is thick, no butt and very thin legs. I dislike the neckline of the top. Never looks good on me either.

  22. Fan says:

    Classic and beautiful.

  23. Camille (The Original) says:

Classic and chic, perfect for a work meeting. She looks great.

  24. Santolina says:

Thumbs up on the softer color closer to her face. The creamier (and less harsh) the white, the better. Yeah, I know, I’m stuck in the color season thing…

  25. sunsetsnow says:

I don’t think she really cares about clothes.

  26. Jayna says:

    I like her outfit.
