Miley Cyrus at the Tom Ford LA event: overexposed or not bad?

Miley Cyrus

Last night’s Tom Ford event in LA had a good showing of fashion girls and A-listers. Into which one of those categories does Miley Cyrus fit? I’ll let you decide. Tom presented pieces from his new collection with celebrities as his models. Miley chose the dress that could have popped out of a fancy Fredericks of Hollywood window. Miley works it with all of her confidence, which is what makes this dress sort of work … for her. Faux corset, lace, and side tush? Check, check, aaand check. This is Miley, so I’m simply happy none of her bits are sticking out. Do you think she should switch up her hairdo? I recently learned that Miley does her own makeup for events. She needs to work on her eyeliner skills.

Elizabeth Olsen looked of her element in this black dress. I’m not a huge fan of all the cutouts this season, especially the weird cutout around the left vadge area on this dress. But this is Tom Ford, so who cares? Lizzie needs some coaching in the posing department, you can tell she’s a little uncomfortable. More important than the dress is the closeup. Elizabeth’s newly brown hair is lovely in tousled waves, and when she smiles, her face really lights up.

Rita Ora thought she was Tom Ford’s new best friend. Does this white suit reflect this status? The jacket is pretty awesome with a flattering, sexy silhouette. The pants look ill-cut and sloppy. Her slicked back hair works well with a suit, but the cat-eye makeup is doing her no favors.

Rita Ora

Nicole Richie wore what looks like a leopard printed Halloween costume with black panties showing through for effect. And that pink hair is just awful. Nicole had a few years where she was a real fashionista, but she’s lost her style mojo. This looks like something Snooki would wear to host a Vegas club opening.

Nicole Richie

Molly Sims went for a sleek and simple black dress. She’s pregnant with her second child, a baby girl. Molly usually doesn’t dress very well (for a model) at fashion events, but she looks beautiful here. I like her piecey updo and rosey makeup.

Miley is semi-covered. Not seeing her labia is a revelation. Nicole Richie, just…no.

  2. Kiddo says:

That look works on Miley and the hair is good with it. I couldn’t envision it on anyone else though.

  3. InvaderTak says:

So visible underpants is a thing now. Ick. Cyrus just looks dopey. Trying way too hard seem to be the thing with this event.

  4. Tulsa says:

I think they all look great. Nicole – Not digging that hair, but still pretty.

  5. PrincessMe says:

Must be because my eyes are bad, but I can barely see Molly Simms.

I like Rita Ora’s look but agree about the pants. The cuff/length/width combo doesn’t work (IMO).

Maybe the cold is making me snippy and catty but everyone except Olson looks bad. Miley could not dress to save her life, and the day we cheer because the scratchy netting she calls a dress and I call Halloween decor is covering her not private anymore bits… that is a sad day. Molly’s dress is fine but did she have a fight with a flock of birds who attacked her hair? Looks like the birds won. I never got Nicole, and both that dress and hair are indeed Vegas hostess glam. If Rita would wear a top under her jacket, go easy in the eyeliner and the bleached hair, she could totally work it.
    There, snark done.

You can still buy Fredrick’s of Hollywood? ….not that I looked up the website or anything in an attempt to buy something to wear for my husband recently…. *blushes*

God I hate see through clothing.

I really like all outfits except Nicole’s… ugh, so awful from head to toe!
Also I’m loving Elisabeth Olsen’s new light brown hair, it’s a wonderful colour and that more celebrities should do instead of going platinum or blonde. It’s a nice and refreshing change.

Milly Sims could have had way more fun with her bump! She looks bland. Enjoy that baby bump for the few months that you have it!

“…fashion girls and A-listers. Into which one of those categories does Miley Cyrus fit?”

    Neither

  12. Lucky says:

Elizabeth Olsen looks beautiful. Hair color, style, make up and dress are all on point

  13. Jayna says:

For a pop star in her early 20s, she looks fantastic on the red carpet of a fashion show.

  14. Kitsch says:

Nicole Richie was never a fashionista. There was nothing special about her, except for Paris Hilton. But I guess it’s not bad for the daughter of a janitor who has never worked a day in her life.
Miley, I think it’s okay, but Rita looks like what Miley should’ve looked.

Overexposed ?? That’s Miley being demure!! Srsly, I think she has been looking better here lately. I think we have PS to thank for that. I would like to see her keep classing it up more and acting like the high school popular bish less. I think she is dressed perfectly for a Tom Ford event.

  16. lile says:

BTW her makeup looks really good too.

  17. Kim says:

Love Rita Ora’s whole look, quite mature — hair + makeup. Elizabeth Olsen is just beaming! And Sofia Vergara looks very happy!

  18. Naddie says:

Never thought I’d say that, but Rita looks amazing. Sexy, but not cheap. And man, she IS cheap (persona, not herself).
Miley has a very nice body, but no matter how hard she tries, she’ll never the hot beauty she wants to be, like Rihanna, for example.

  19. Ice Queen says:

I kinda like Miley here, not bad. Rita’s blazer is amazing but I don’t like the pants. Love the hair and I don’t even hate the make up. Nicole scares me.

  20. Lucy says:

Elizabeth is so, so pretty!! Just look at her face.

  21. melain says:

Desperation doesn’t look good on anyone.

  22. Otaku fairy says:

I like Miley’s outfit- it’s costume-y and looks like it could be worn either on stage (for a pop star) or by some fictional vampire villain. She really does need to change up her hair though. Everyone here looks either good or passable. I like Rita Ora’s outfit too- I like the white suit with her platinum hair and eyeliner.

  23. Zigggy says:

Miley’s makeup is cool- I like to mess around with mine like that so I get it. She’s young so it works- I’m 32 so I sometimes look like a crazy person đŸ˜‰

  24. Jag says:

Nicole looks like she just wanted to show off her new cleavage. The dress that Miley is wearing could’ve been gorgeous, but just no.

  25. Veronica says:

Miley usually has the right attitude for Tom Ford, but this is awful. Everything he put out this season was disappointing to me. There’s trashy chic, and then there’s just trash. Her face and makeup look way too good to be dragged down by that dress.

  26. jenn12 says:

Love Elizabeth’s hair and makeup, and the dress isn’t bad. Miley is just too flashy for me- too much makeup and too much skin in the dress. Her best look was at that punk event. Nicole, my lord, what is up with you? Constantly dying her hair crazy colors and dumb fashion, as though she’s in a midlife crisis and looking for attention. She used to have such a good sense of what looked good on her- the collarbone length bob with sidebangs, which emphasized her terrific cheekbones, and a sleeker style.

  27. lucy2 says:

Miley looks like she’s on her way to a bordello.
Nicole Richie looks like a budget Snookie. I didn’t know such a thing was possible.
Elizabeth looks very pretty, and I kind of like Rita’s look.

  28. Mary Jane says:

I’m actually starting to really like Miley. She WAS well-covered, and did a great performance on the “SNL” show, AND isn’t she wearing one of Mr Ford’s pieces? She may like the “trashier” looks, but our presenter designed it.
