Here are more photos from the Charles Finch and Chanel Pre-Oscar Awards Dinner at Madeo Restaurant last night. Remember when everyone hoped that Kristen Stewart would be nominated for an Oscar this year? Yeah. Well, I hope she comes out tonight for some parties, at the very least. Most of the women in these photos are wearing Chanel, and even though K-Stew has a contract with Chanel, I feel like she didn’t get first pick for this party. Just as well – she probably wanted to wear pants.
I know Julianne Moore won her Oscar in Chanel, but I don’t like her collaboration with the brand. She needs to develop a stronger relationship with someone like Roland Mouret or Narciso Rodriguez.
Diane Kruger also has a strong relationship with Chanel, and it really works in her case. She looks great here. Also: I guess Joshua Jackson is working in NYC, so that’s why he couldn’t come out.
The fact that Rooney Mara refuses to look like she’s enjoying any part of this just makes me feel like Hollywood people and fashion people should be like, “If you hate it so much, fine, we won’t ever work with you again.”
Dear Emilia Clarke: get a better stylist. For real.
This is sort of cute on Jessica Biel. I just want to do something less beachy with her hair.

I love Diane Kruger’s dress! Rooney Mara’s dress is pretty but her face is exhausting. Emilia Clarke is beautiful…..maybe her stylist just wants us to feel better in comparison. Rosamund Pike’s dress is super cute.

Jessica Biel’s dress looks like a tailored mumu. I’m pretty positive I’ve seen that print on my best friend’s grandmother. I consider her to be one of the top 5 worst dressed celebrities. She’s got the most amazing body but she needs a stylist, or at least a better stylist, so badly.
That outfit looks completely out of place of Kristen Stewart. It’s too old for her in my opinion. Diane Kruger looks great.
They all look horrible. And what is with Kristens pants?? They are way too long or bunchy or something and the whole outfit looks like something she picked up at Target. I guess Jessica looks cute, but her hair is a damn mess.
Right! I was gonna say, this ‘styling’ manages to make Chanel look like an outfit you wear to pick up Cheetos at the nearby gas station.
I’m kinda tired of the Rooney bashing. People staring at you and taking pictures is incredibly uncomfortable, and she seems like a shy person anyway. She’s an actress, not a model, why should she pretend she’s enjoying this? If I was an actress I ‘d probably never go to any red carpets ever.
Julianne looks good, she should keep her relationship with Tom Ford. This Chanel looks great on her.

A huge part of an actor’s job is sales. Could you imagine any other scenario where people’s time, effort and money are on the line and you’d say that it’s okay for someone to not do their job because they’re just not feeling like it? Because that’s what this is: part of her job. If you’re not comfortable don’t accept the invitations, the free clothes, or the jobs that require you to actually get out and promote.
To me being unproffesional is someone like Tom Hardy who’s late all the time, rude, violent and complains a lot.
She’s there. She’s doing interviews. She’s doing talk shows. She’s not even complaining. But people are acting like not smiling is a crime.
There are worse behaviors, sure. But still, her job here is to sell. Sell the movies, sell the clothes, sell herself. And let’s get real – some of her attitude absolutely comes from her upbringing. There’s no hustle. She’s not out there committing any crimes, but the eye roll is at least deserved.
I’m not sure why people are always so enraged by her. She seems like an extremely awkward introvert to me. The more you try to look “normal” the more awkward you become. I think the people who put her in their movies know what they’re getting when it comes to promotion. If they don’t have a problem with it, neither do I.
I agree with mayamae that the people who hire Rooney know what to expect in terms of promotion. I don’t think she comes across as unprofessional and don’t understand why her not smiling bothers people so much.
As a shy person, smiling is the easiest thing for me to do in public. Talking or giving a speech is what’s painful. I just don’t buy that a woman who was willing to do a 4 minute full frontal naked scenes and simulate riding a man’s dong multiple times on a globally released film is shy. I would not do that for a billion because I would die halfway of embarrassment.
Her refusal to smile for the peasants is simply a part of her privilege like how she believes it’s her right to play people of color without criticism. Kstew grew out of this bratty behavior when she no longer had Twilight as her power chip. Rooney too will stop when Sony with their Dragon Tattoo films are no longer backing her.
Maybe she doesn’t like her smile then, like Victoria Beckham. What is it with the freaking smiling? Why is that so important?
I am not shy, but my smile is hideous, and I avoid smiling unless there’s something that makes me laugh. Maybe Rooney Mara has the same thing going on. I’m tired of people expecting women to be smiley at all times and I don’t understand why a damned smile is so important to some people.
I personal don’t care if she smiles or not. It’s more the attitude she conveys on her face. I bet that’s what some people are referring to when saying “smile” for short hand. She just looks hostile and not pleased to be on these red carpets. It’s not hard to make your face look friendly or even shy without smiling. Some men skip the smile but have a friendly and welcoming face.
You are right it’s up to the people that hire her if they are OK with it. In which case I think entertainment sites should just leave her out of the coverage period. Then her employers can save her completely from the torture.

Kristen Stewart in ill fitting Zumbas and a worn out sweater set. Did she whip into a Plato’s Closet and grab this outfit 5 minutes before? Rooney Mara looks lovely. Diane Kruger smartly styled that dress to give it some edge. The rest of these looks are tragic and frumpy.

I love her pants. As comfy as sweatpants but dressy, I want.
She actually didn’t feel like being styled and was mostly looking for food :-).. I think the jacket is her own, she was being photographed wearing it on multiple occasions. The shoes are also her old and well worn-in pair. I think her outfit is pretty cool.
I feel like none of the looks are amazing but they aren’t awful either. KStew looks at ease in her trousers and jacket but Karl’s lace baggy pants just aren’t that flattering on anyone, even a skinny girl like her. Emilia’s dress looks cheap and casual, even if it is just a black dress. Rooney’s look is on point but her hair, meh, and even though Julianne is stunning Chanel doesn’t ever to seek to suite her well. It’s all just okay.

I do not understand how Emelia Clarke can look in the mirror dressed like that and think “I look great!” The length of that dress is awful for her. She has a wonderful figure and her legs look so stumpy here.
