E!: Tom Hiddleston ‘is not annoyed by the negative media attached to Taylor’

FFN_FlyUK_Hiddleston_Swift_062616_52104807

All week, I’ve been wondering about Tiddles. Or shall I say, The Glorious Tiddlebanging of 2016. Before Kim Kardashian dropped the receipts, before Calvin Harris dropped “Katy ETC” on Twitter, there was just the Glorious Tiddlesbanging. There was just Taylor’s most epic boyfriend rollout of all time. It was the boyfriend rollout to end all boyfriend rollouts. It was funny, silly, cringeworthy, hilarious and stupid. It probably did lasting damage to Tom Hiddleston’s career. So I’ve been wondering if Tom hasn’t gotten cold feet. I’ve been wondering if Tom will end up dumping Taylor before the Emmys even roll around. But according to E! News’ source, Tiddles is still happening and they’re just fine.

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston are heating up on all fronts. With the aftermath from Kim Kardashian’s Snapchat videos continuing to unfold, a source tells E! News exclusively that Tom is helping his girlfriend feel better.

“Tom is not annoyed by the negative media attached to Taylor,” the insider tells us. “He knew that would come with the course of dating her. He has been supporting her and enjoying the time he’s having with her. They’re having a great time and are always laughing.”

As for how the “Style” songstress is feeling about everything that happened with Kim and Kanye West, the source adds, “Taylor is not happy about what happened with Kim and Kanye. She thinks they are using her to get even more publicity.”

Although the videos made it clear that Taylor approved certain lyrics in Kanye’s song “Famous,” our source tells us that she has no intentions of partnering with him again. “She is not a fan of Kanye and won’t ever work with him or talk to him again at this point,” the source says.

Despite the events that unfolded this week, T. Swift and Tom have been heating up, and now they’re officially taking their romance to the next level, the source adds.

“Taylor and Tom are in love with each other. He told her she is the kind of woman he wants to spend his life with,” the insider dishes. “They have gotten very close. She is enjoying the time off from working. She has been writing during her travels, and Tom has been an inspiration in her music.”

[From E! News]

I feel like there’s a 50/50 shot that this actually comes from Team Swift, like this is an actual leak from Taylor and her people in an attempt to gently move the conversation along. Taylor has been hammered in the press all week – Vulture did another fantastic analysis of the media’s backlash against Tay-Tay yesterday – and every arm-chair crisis manager has been telling her to shut up and go away for a while. Taylor doesn’t feel like shutting up, I suspect, but she will try to refocus the attention onto a narrative that feels more comfortable for her: The Grand Tiddles Love Story. She even added some bonus “big bad Kanye is a meanie!” context so that Hiddles would seem like her white knight (literally).

Still… Tom is probably on his way to San Diego Comic-Con as we speak. I seriously doubt Taylor will join him, although who even knows? I still think that they’ll break up in the next six weeks or so.

last night i caught a bit of Only Lovers Left Alive,
then i said to my husband ‘why did they mistyped his name?’

    it’s not.

i just got so used to reading Tiddles(ton) on here that i’m beginning to accept Tiddleston as his name, and not Hid..etc.

    i blame yous lot.

      Lol

    • Eileen says:

It is crazy but I no longer find him attractive. He was gorgeous as Loki but the charm just went away.

      • phaedra7 says:

Hi. As a newbie to the CB Community, I’m on board to say that Hiddles (oh, sorry: Tiddles) is really a disappointment. Also, I wonder if Twifti (the name my friends plus myself coined her) has conspired this debacle for another reason (among many): The demographics of Tom’s fanbase [mature/intelligent/critical-thinking young/middle-aged/older women and men]. She may want the “Twifties” to override them, so that they will continue to follow and create rom-con fanfics re: her “LLUUUUUUUVVVVV” World Tour; and also to see drama from the Hiddlestoners, to see/hear about some upset at Tom. ONLY CHILDREN do sh*t like this!!!!!

      • Elizabeth says:

        Yep. Totally.

  2. Zandy says:

I hope they last forever 💏

    • Sophie says:

      DITTO

      • LucyHoneychurch says:

tritto. Seeing them together is more fun than the opposite. If he dumps her now, all (or at least a heck of a lot of) the public sympathy will swing back to her. The Swift haters realize that right? lol

      • Noname says:

@LucyHoneychurch- Probably not, lol. Anything to drag Swift is the motto.

      • holly hobby says:

I don’t know if the public will go “AW Taylor” anymore after what happened with that video leak. She lost the professional victim job earlier this month.

      • Christianna says:

@LucyHoneychurch agreed. It would be a bad move on his part, she’d rip him to shreds in media, paint him as the boyfriend who couldn’t handle being with her at her at his worst… And then the songs. Oh, the songs.

  3. kittenhotel says:

I hope Tom and Taylor work out.

    Like who cares about media

    • AlleyCat says:

Well they obviously do. If they didn’t, you wouldn’t have seen/heard every step of their relationship.

Regardless of if the relationship was fake, that source was from Taylor’s camp. Tom really has no need to confirm they’re fine in public, but Taylor so desperately needs a positive spin. My guess is they’ll get engaged before September, rather than break up.

      • NGBoston says:

Agree with Alleycat. If not engaged before the Emmy Awards Ceremony, eventually it will fade out and Swifty will dump him, too.

Swifty needs this to create drama and put the focus back on her for some good PR spin again.

When one is a NPD it’s all about them. It really is just Swifty’s world and we only live in it, including Tom.

    • Runcmc says:

I hope they don’t, because the gossip would be amazing. Plus it would be better for Tom’s career to stop being her purse.

    • Carol says:

I hope they do too. Not only because they seem to fit, but also because I can’t read or hear about another Taylor breakup.

  4. OriginallyBlue says:

That sounds like it came from Taylor’s people. I mean what else can they say? Yes Tom is hating every minute of this and wish he had never gotten involved?

    • Little Darling says:

Right? The comment “they’re always laughing” made me laugh because I just can’t see Taylor being all happy go lucky in the midst of one of the biggest PR crisises in her life.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Who would know they’re always laughing? Her bodyguards? They have been in Australia for two weeks. I doubt Ruffalo and Hemsworth are dropping about Tom’s relationship. And that line keeps getting recycled in every article

      • Secret squirrel says:

Don’t forget ladies that he is working all day so she could be grumpy all day then put on her happy face for when he gets home.

The time difference must be annoying her though. It would be the middle of the night in Oz when some of these things are going down in America.

      • Little Darling says:

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she’s not in the states right now when the Kim thing dropped.

      • Mattie says:

I wonder if they’re laughing like all those families on the TV commercials sitting around the table ready to choke on a tator tot

    • Mia V. says:

He basically has no choice now, if he dumps her, it will be very shitty, if he stays, it’s less shitty and she is on a rage moment, I wouldn’t want to cross her now and in a few months be the title of one of her songs.

      • holly hobby says:

He’ll end up being song fodder. I can’t see how someone can think marriage after dating for what? One or two months? Her people are awful. Is it run by a bunch of teens? This narrative sucks.

A real crisis manager would tell her to pipe down and go away for awhile. She is the younger version of MeAnn.

    • cyn says:

I find it hilarious that when it was him getting crucified in the media and online, we had a new pap stroll every day. Now that it is her, only solo shots of him. Don’t tell me it’s because he is working. We have shots of him. She’s hiding out which I also find hilarious because all her little stans swore that she had nothing to do with all the paps and that she couldn’t go out without them catching her. Well guess what she’s left Australia and landed at LAX and no shots.

Another thing I also find hilarious. There’s been nothing from her regarding his Emmy nom. No tweet or insta post. She has literally done nothing for him except hold him up for glorious public ridicule. People keep saying that he can’t leave or he’ll look bad. I think he looks worse.

      • Naya says:

Good catch on the lack of congrats. Taylor is the type of person to go over board with a simple nomination. Somebody told her to step back not just from her own public image but his too.

      • jammypants says:

        I noticed the same thing.

    • LadyLoo says:

Everything comes from TayTay’s people and probably from Tay herself. That’s why is all sounds like it was originally composed in a Hello Kitty notebook with glitter pen.

      • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

Thank you, Ladyloo! No matter how awful my day is, I can always count on you to hit the mark with your posts and make me laugh!

I wonder if one of her many residences has hello kitty decor?

(I come for the snark and stay for the laughs.)

      • PimmsCupInAPimpCup says:

        Runswithscossors,
Same here- the gossip for me is just the the pretext for me to revel in the witticisms- a lot of posters here are so concise and funny.

    • holly hobby says:

I don’t know how they are “always laughing” when all the pics shows Tom frowning or with his mouth pursed. The only time he actually smiled was when he posed with those kids.

  5. Naya says:

The silver lining for Tom is that she wouldnt dare employ her tactics on him when it ends. Not in her music or talk shows or through sources. Nothing. Nada. He could cheat on her with her own mother, publish her diaries, murder her cats or steal her last penny and she would still be compelled to say the most flowery things about him. Regina George has been tamed.

    • Pinky says:

Why say you that, when the article says this:

“Tom has been an inspiration in her music.”

FFS! She’s at it again. In good times and in bad, he is to be fodder for her treacly/malevolent song mill.

      –TheRealPinky

    • Sixer says:

Serious question, Naya: why do you think LEGS would be inviolate?

      • Naya says:

Oh, I dont think he would. Fame whore sure but I dont think he is a douchebag. I just meant that her hands are completely tied even if he did turn out to be villainous. Of course to Taylor anybody who leaves her is a villain….so theres that.

      • Sixer says:

You mean he’s always been so careful to be squeaky clean before hooking up with her?

      • bluerunning says:

I think maybe she means because Tom could confirm the cheating rumors… which, then, she’d look like just as big a scumbag as the guy she’s trying to drag.

      • Naya says:

Blue running has a point but I was basing my comment on Taylor being called out so publicly for victim routine. She now simply couldnt recycle that poor Taytay crap.

Somebody vandalised her wikipedia page the other day and it was hilarious. Among the gems was that under the Occupation Section, they added “Victim”. Thats why I believe she is going to have to play nice with all future exes from now on.

      • Sixer says:

        Gotcha, Naya. Ta!

      • Maria says:

Where is Icerose? I was expecting to read her comments!

    • Intuitive says:

Well @naya, I can totally see why you would think that because that would be a sensible reaction. However, I really don’t think Taylor will be able to reign it in as she just can’t help herself, that’s part of her problem.

    • OhDear says:

I was actually thinking the opposite – that she’d make Tom the villain as a distraction from this current drama and frame herself as the victim once again. No matter what he does now, it’s a lose-lose situation for him PR-wise – he’ll continue to lose credibility if he stays (especially if they end up getting “engaged”) and he’ll be labeled an opportunist (even more) if he leaves.

      • Noname says:

Lose credibility for what may I ask? He’s an actor.. lol. I can’t. I am still in my morning after glow from attending a Duran Duran concert last night so I am not going to be snarky.

      • Secret squirrel says:

@ Noname – colour me jealous. Never got to see Duran Duran in concert in their hey day (the frustration of growing up in a small country town).

      • OhDear says:

@ Noname – Have you not read any of the comments mocking *him* since this “relationship” was rolled out to the media? To be honest, I don’t get why you feel the need to consider being snarky at all.

      • Noname says:

I’m very aware of how he’s being mocked for his relationship but you’d think he did something horrific by the way some of you are reacting to this. He’s an actor dating a pop star. A pop star that’s manipulative and in charge of her image, who has pissed off people for writing songs about him… etc. However when she is caught doing something illegal, let me know. Then I might give this a second thought. Until then, Tom is fine.

Oh and I’m usually nice, I am just tired this morning and some of these comments for the past few weeks on this are quite ridiculous, but it’s fun.

      • LinaLamont says:

        @Noname

        Right there with you.

I’ve said over and over, I love the witty snark and funny comments, but, I’m just trying to understand the vitriol and rage that’s so out of proportion to the “crimes” committed by any of these people (not necessarily here, all over the interwebz)—Swift/Hiddleston or Kardashian/West. Is some of it because TS stole some people’s imaginary boyfriend… or sullied him…or killed the illusion/delusion of him? I agree that the wedding video C&D (if true…I really know very little about TS) is pretty disgusting. But, the bile is so over the top. Some of it seems so personal. She didn’t do anything, personally, to anyone here.  Did she? Again, I don’t know much about her other than she doesn’t have the greatest voice. And the drama over THs projected professional demise. Dunno. He’ll be fine if he does fine ON SCREEN– with audiences and the industry. If there’s great buzz about his performance in anything, HW, producers, directors will find out. They don’t give a rat’s ass about his personal life. He’s known to be very professional on set and not at all messy. That’s all that matters.

      • LinaLamont says:

        Just want to add…
Also, if people can’t get past the real TH (all the silly, embarrassing, cringe-worthy stuff) when he’s playing a part, then, he’s not doing his job well. It’s called acting.

Still, CB is a relief from what’s going on in the news. 🙂

      • K.C. says:

@Noname I agree. The histrionics about his career and image being shattered are weird to me. This is who he is, this is who he has always been. Maybe that wasn’t always recognized by every one of his fans, but he has done very little contrary to who he always said he was. He became involved with a very famous singer, so yes, of course he’s all over the tabloids. He’s a hammy actor so of course he likes the attention. He’s a twee dork so of course he likes being with another twee dork. Why any of this is surprising is beyond me. His career will be fine regardless of how this turns out. He’ll keep chugging along.

And just a side note: I’ve known a lot of great guys who date sea witches. So even if Taylor is in fact the very worst caricature of herself possible, them dating is still entirely possible and wouldn’t surprise me.

      • delorb says:

        @noname,

I totally agree. At worse they are two fame hungry whores who went to great and obvious lengths to get their names and pictures in the papers. At best they are just two crazy (semi) kids in love. Either way, I don’t see how any of this impacts his career negatively.

Let’s say that it’s found out that he’s a famewhore. Most people in Hollywood have done the same or worse. They’d probably not bat an eye at his antics. They might snicker a bit, but none of them would hold it against him. Fans should stop looking at this through their non-industry eyes.

And let’s not forget all the money that’s being made off this story.

    • Wren says:

I don’t see it. She’ll throw him under the bus with glee if he leaves her, especially now. She’ll wail about how fairytales don’t come true, how she was duped by an older man who lied to her and promised her forever, and boo hoo hoo she thought it was true love but alas cruel world it was not.

Even though she’s been called out on her M.O., she’ll still do it. People who are that controlling don’t simply “give up” and do the sensible thing when they feel things getting away from them. They double down and do everything possible to regain control to the point of self destruction. It becomes almost pitiful in the end, watching them flail.

      • Jena says:

The reason this story is staying in the news is because it’s putting a microscope on Taylor’s track record of character assassination. I have never heard her music until I looked her up this week. No joke I watched Bad Blood, Better than Revenge, Mean, Cold as You..lol She has written lyrics like “an actress, better known for what she does on the mattress” …This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is video of an interview with producer of the Grammys who said that Taylor heard the song and thought it was funny. He was forced to retract it. The depth of the coddling is what is being discovered. Even instagram and tumblr have allowed her to remove posts she doesn’t like…she needs to grow up

    • Jess says:

      @Naya

Was writing “he could cheat on her with her own mother” really necessary especially given your last comment you wrote about TS (saying “That woman would slit her own mothers throat to block criticism) ?

Why do you feel the need to mention her mother in the first place? If someone wrote the same exact thing about Kanye’s mom, it would be way out of line but Taylor’s mother is suddenly fair game for disrespectful comments?

      • Naya says:

Thats some serious reaching. Obviously both comments were designed to show the extremes either party could go to and get away with it. Its hyperbolic clealry. But you know, keep Swifting.

  6. CTgirl says:

He doesn’t care about the negative publicity for his true love because she is perfect to him. Or his publicist set up Tiddlegeddon 2016. I’m betting on Tiddlegeddon.

    • Div says:

I am curious to see if he sticks around. He seems very image conscious.

Also curious to see how this Taylor-gate plays out. In scandals (sex and/or drug) in the past, people often chalk it up to “private business” even if that person gets dragged for a while. However, this has played out so much in the press, involves reality TV, and multiple other famous celebrities.

I think she’ll be fine but it is interesting to see how this has more of an impact in the media, even though it’s over something fairly trivial, than more “serious” scandals. Someone on here the other day though noted that it also hits broader topics that go beyond Taylor and Kimye (lying, hypocrisy, implicit sexism and racism in the media, etc.) and that’s why there are so many think-pieces.

This is where her good girl image works against her..it’s going to be hard to reinvent and so much of the media adoration was centered on that good girl image. I know she’s released some singles for charity, she should do something along those lines and then release an album that has nothing to do with love.

      • Bonzo says:

The biggest change from all this is that the media no longer tip toes around her. They’re all on board pointing out that she’s just like any another celebrity that skillfully manipulates the media and distorts the truth and making big bank as a result. Now that even mainstream publications are calling her out, she can’t afford to use her strong-arm tactics to keep them in line anymore.

      • CTgirl says:

The whole Swiftygate thing where she was caught lying (claiming no phone call and the fact that she says on the phone call that Kanye doesn’t have to clear lyrics with her, threatening lawsuits, demanding tapes be destroyed, etc.) combined with her mean girl bullying personality aren’t going to serve her well from here on. Bullsh#t has been called by the public and the media and Swifty’s @ss no longer smells like a rose. The reign of Swifty is on the decline.

      • Wren says:

I was thinking that this is another example of the madonna/whore complex that women get shoved into. Taylor has built her image on being the youthful madonna, a pure innocent girl, who falls in love like a princess in a Disney movie but is as strangely (and safely) asexual as those princesses.

And now what? She’s being exposed more and more as a flawed person, whose purity is sullied not by sex (as is the usual way women are “ruined”) but by being the embodiment of several other negative female stereotypes. Manipulating, controlling, lying, putting on an act to gain sympathy, overly emotional, devoting herself “too much” to her man, and ruining said man’s reputation and masculinity. And how many are glorying in her fall from grace?

I mean, wtf? I’m not defending Taylor, but how she’s being treated is highlighting the continuing night and day way women are treated. True, she built up her good girl image to dizzying heights but the thing is we let her. People were so happy to embrace a singer who was a “refreshing alternative” to all the other “slutty” pop singers that they just ate up every little bit of her act. And now that she’s been revealed as not so sweet and innocent, it’s like a tide has turned. Why does a tide need to turn? Why can’t we just be disappointed about it and move on?

Anyway, that got long and ranty. I wish we could just look at her and say “ah, normal flawed person with control issues” instead of the “burn the witch!!!! she tricked us with her trickery!!!!!” that all this seems to be turning into.

      • Naya says:

@Wren I sorta agree with most of your analysis. Under slighlty different circumstances I would be high fiving you. I feel this way about the majority of women people attack here, from Madonna to Beyonce.

But Taylor wont get that benefit from me because firstly, she tarnished others to boost herself. Thats not a harmless offence and not even Madonna stoops so low. Secondly, she courted racist stereotypes where Kanye was concerned, so much so that it took his white wife to get the correct the record. Also, when your inner circle makes appalling racist statements or attack a child, you should distance yourself and she didnt bother to. For those three reasons, I am happy to say this is a person getting her comeuppance. Lets not pretend that if Kanye or Calvin had done all these things, they wouldnt face some public reckowning.

    • Dani says:

CT – I actually think Luke is having a meltdown over this. He isn’t that time of publicist, and he worked super hard to get to where he is, he wouldn’t tarnish his rep for Tiddles.

      • CTgirl says:

I wonder if a giant dose of Preparation H would rid the world of the pile that is Tiddles?

  7. Div says:

I really doubt E!’s sources. As Lainey pointed out, they are Kardashian central and are almost always slanted to be pro-Kim. Also, Taylor’s seemingly shut up and has gone AWOL (she used to be papped all the time) so someone’s crisis manager has gone to work.

That said, if Tom is tired of Taylor’s shenanigans and wants to dump her that’s understandable. However, if it’s not the actual shenanigans and more the media coverage-meh. I don’t get cheering someone on to dump someone just because they are getting negative press.

    • Little Darling says:

I hope he stays with her. To me, beyond their shoving it in our faces, which from a PR standpoint makes so much more sense now in light of things, I kind of think they truly, genuinely like each other.

Calvin on the other hand would be such a nightmare in time of crisis, I would imagine.

  8. NewWester says:

With the exception of Calvin, has any ex boyfriend of Taylor Swift ever made any comment about dating her? Taylor has written songs about her relationships but all the men have been silent as far as I know. I would have expected someone to have thrown some subtle shade on a talk show or online. Maybe they do sign a NDA when they agree to date Taylor?

    • Maria says:

I dont think it would be enforceable. which judge would say i s fine for Taylor to write songs about it and forbid a man to defend himself?

Taylor simply has too much power in the industry. Lainey wrote about it, how now the tide is turning. Taylor liked a posivite review of a critic and invited her but when she then wrote a bad review she was frozen out. others in the media were afraid of Taylors power. thats why its no so new that there is more and more criticism of her in the media. they are less afraid. the Vulture article above talks about that too.
maybe now we will see more guys talk about it
also generally gossip news is mainly read by women and a man trash talking a female ex will have more PR fallout than a woman trash talking a male ex. see Talyors entire career.

      • Kitty says:

Well it looks like she doesn’t have too much power anymore. What goes around comes around.

    • AlleyCat says:

I really do think that most of her relationships were a set up, and therefore NDA required. Why else did each last around 2 months, complete PDAs throughout, and then nothing from the guy? Joe, Jake, Harry, Conner…nothing. Either that or they don’t want to take on the machine that is Taylor Swift.

      • Fiorella says:

If you think Jake was a set up, why would he need to do that? Do you think he is gay? To me he’s hot and a big star so i don’t understand the need for a fauxmance

    • Div says:

John Mayer and Joe Jonas certainly did. Jake G was silent and Harry Styles ust laughed it off (but apparently the Harry songs weren’t necessarily “he destroyed my heart/mean”).

      • Naya says:

Wasnt I knew You Were Trouble about Harry. She let it be know that he had cheated on her and dumped her on a boat or something (that pic of dejected Taylor sitting on a boat by herself still makes me giggle).

      • Div says:

        @Naya
I thought it was one of a handful of songs about John Mayer?

      • Rachel says:

Surely ‘Style’ and ‘Out of the Woods’ were the Harry songs – a) for the title and b) the mention of getting stitches in a hospital, which was apparently based on an actual incident involving a snowmobile for which Harry received stitches?

    • OriginallyBlue says:

Harry has made a subtle jab or 2 and a tweet and delete. John commented on her writing a song about him, but everyone just made fun of him. I think for the most part they all just move on and never talk about her again. Which is either good or kind of odd.

      • Solanaceae (Nighty) says:

        @Alex you mean these?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSdGJVOZME8 – Taylor has a song talking about tears in her guitar..

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaT5j7QKeCY

      • Casi says:

John Mayer wrote Paper Doll which I always thought was about Taylor.

I thought she and Harry have come off as ultimately okay with each other?

      • Alex says:

Yes and paper doll for John.
Harry definitely tweet and deleted during #Swiftgate so yea he doesn’t like her either

      • Nope says:

Harry didn’t tweet and delete anything. He’s been nothing but gracious and has even complimented the songs she wrote about him. Who knows how he feels behind closed doors, but he’s been very mature and kind about her to the public which is how all of the 1D boys are (not including Zayn of course). She’s the one who’s come off immature with that English accent jab during the Grammy performance, her jab at the VMAs (I think?) when she won an award for I Knew You Were Trouble which apparently wasn’t even about Harry because apparently they hadn’t started up before she recorded it, and that not-so-subtle “shut the f*ck up” she whispered to Selena at the same show while 1D was on stage.

But then again, her image took a huge hit after they called things off (tbh I don’t believe they truly dated, maybe they went on a few dates, but not to the point of being boyfriend/ girlfriend), whereas his didn’t. There was a blind maybe or maybe it was actually mentioned that it was her from that time, where supposedly she was screaming at an airport shortly after they were done about how “he didn’t even try” and how mad she was at how bad she looks coming out of the “relationship”. And there were lots of ~suggestions that while 1D was in New York for their MSG show and Taylor was there as well that Harry would be papped going into her hotel with a wash bag for the sake of the picture, and then would slip out shortly after. Plus there was that picture of her stranded on a boat, which she references in New Romantics “please take my hand, and please take me dancing, and please leave me stranded, it’s so romantic”. I don’t like Taylor but that line is pretty funny. So I mean especially if it was PR gone wrong, then I do kind of get her anger and frustration, but she’s going on 27 this year and has been acting like a 13 year old for ages now.

    • Dani says:

Harry and Joe both wrong songs about the relationship. Harry has openly jabbed at her and deleted one or two tweets like someone else said. John more or less shrugged it off and tried to play innocent. Jake didn’t say anything but for some reason I keep thinking Maggie might have said something or tweeted? Connor’s family probably threw a NDA at her, they are the Kennedy’s afterall, and I’m sure she didn’t want to end up dead in a ditch somewhere.

  9. Maria says:

interesting that we now have no more further pics of them together when its convenient for her.

  10. Bluebelle says:

I would like to believe that it does bother him but that nevertheless he’s supportive and he’s trying his best to distract her from all the noise. He’s seeing her at her worst, so how can it not annoy him?

    • Lilacflowers says:

He’s not into drama or confrontation. Coming home from work each day and having to deal with her drama must be tiring. Unless she gets all her pouting and shouting while he is gone and is all smiles when he returns

      • jammypants says:

Well we learn she is fake so I’m sure she can play up the ideal gf role when he comes home tired.

      • birdy says:

Tiddles may simply turn out to be the real life incarnation of the lyrics of Blank Space. Can’t say we weren’t warned.

  11. Sixer says:

I’ve told you already, Kaiser. He is not a white (literally) knight. He is a Knight of Ni. He is spending his nights with Taylor practising the Coconut Canter.

Some people, who are retaining some kindly feelings towards LEGS through this, his bestest ever debacle, think the Coconut Canter is his escape attempt. I’m inclined to the opinion it’s the title of Taylor’s next single and their dance routine to it will be based on My Little Pony. The aim is to put a twee veneer on Monty Python.

I wish them well in this endeavour.

(I’ve spent a happy morning gardening. So I’m not mentioning that LEGS is apparently quite happy to go along with coded racism. I’ll leave that until the next time Sixlet Minor brings Pokemon Go anywhere near my tellybox and puts me in a bad mood.)

    • lilacflowers says:

I always liked the sound of the knights of Ni’s coconuts.

      • Sixer says:

I like the mental picture of LEGS and Taylor prancing about a pretend dressage ring clapping their coconuts while her latest song plays in the background.

Mr Sixer is home for lunch. He is a) annoyed because I am taking up the whole kitchen freezing broad beans and he wants to make a sandwich, and b) convinced I am having some kind of breakdown. Why else would I be fixating on My Little Pony and Monty Python in the same thought moment?

      • lilacflowers says:

Blame it all on Pokemon attacking the tellybox.

      • Sixer says:

Never thee fear. I will. He’s eating my bloody broad beans. Gah! He’s getting what I don’t freeze in a risotto tonight. Poor LEGS. He’s stuck in Oz with Taylor and coconuts when he could have been stuffing broad bean risotto, playing Pokemon Go with Sixlet Minor and cricket with Sixlet Major. Mr Sixer might even have done his ironing.

        Man makes stupid choices.

      • honeybee blues says:

And now I have to go the store for broad beans. Thanks Sixer, that craving is now absolute!

      • Sixer says:

Broad beans are my all-time favourite vegetable.

      • Bonzo says:

This makes me crave hot butter beans, slathered in butter.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

LEGS is *indeed* quite happy to go along with coded racism. I think that was true long before Tiddles.

      • Sixer says:

I know that I mock him mercilessly, but that’s all surface level, half-affectionate stuff (except the reverse classism nonsense). But I do have an actual problem with going along with that. Not a mucking about and mocking him problem: a real, proper, problem.

      • Bonzo says:

Two rich, white people who surround themselves with rich white people cannot see the coded racism if it hit them in the face. My republican family & friends either for that matter. I’m ready to block all of them on FB so I don’t have to see their ignorant, tone deaf posts.

    • frisbee says:

On a slightly different tack, I always quite fancied a small shrubbery, on made out of broad beans would be nice.

  12. lilacflowers says:

    Yawn

    • spidey says:

      duplicate

      • spidey says:

        Quite!

Tom has said one sentence in public I believe, yet so many rags know so much about his inner feelings. And will it actually do lasting damage to his career? Really.

Also after SDC he will be planted in Oz for a while, and I can’t see her staying there all the time he is working.

      • Sixer says:

You mean so many PR sources associated to him and Taylor are giving material to so many rags, which they are printing?

I agree it’s his serious credibility and some aspects of his reputation he’s blowing, not his future chances of actually working. He’ll continue to get cast. But it beggars belief that this is something being done TO him, rather than something he is doing himself or others are doing on his behalf/at his behest.

      • spidey says:

I mean that a lot of rags are possibly making things up.

Although I do agree about his credibliity in relation to his past “persona”

      • Secret squirrel says:

Well if he can’t find work in Hollywood, he will always have a full time job planting “Taylor Swift is misunderstood and is really a saint who should be pontificated immediately” stories in the media.

Then there is all that tea to be made for her squad. They must be very thirsty from all their defending efforts. Can I picture LEGS with a “Does This Apron Make Me Look Thirsty?” apron on, making scones in the kitchen of their RI love nest whilst St Swifty is playing on the slide and swing set with her friends?

        Yes, yes I can…

      • Sixer says:

Squirrel – we could probably get up a nice Etsy business in LEGS-themed aprons, no?!

Spidey – gossip is Chinese whispers. So if you instigate some, as Tiddles did with their Tiddlesbanging World Tour, then it will get amplified and not all of the amplifications will be accurate. If you employ so-called sources to continue your original instigation, it will get further amplified and even more of the amplifications will be inaccurate. That’s ALL on LEGS and Swift, cos they did the instigating in the first place. Nothing is being done TO them that they didn’t knowingly set off in the first place. If they’re unable to control it as well as they would like, it’s tough bananas to them, I’m afraid.

      • Secret squirrel says:

@ Sixer – aprons, knitted tea cosies, fingerless gloves, LEG(S)warmers, the possibilities are endless! I’ve already completed the online form to register the business plan!

Shall we start with a faux leather jacket that has “I’ve been papped with Taylor Swift” bedazzled on the back?

      • Sixer says:

        OMG! TEA COSIES!

We could adapt the Britisher keep calm and carry on motif? Keep calm and Swiftly on?

      • Secret squirrel says:

Keep Calm and Carry On SWIFTing
        Keep Calm and Tiddlesbang
Keep Calm and Give Luke A Heart Attack

      • Sixer says:

Actually, now I think about it.

We could reboot the Carry On films, starring Tiddles!

      • Bonzo says:

You forgot the “I heart T.H.” tank top ladies and fake bleeding heat tattoos.

  13. Stacy says:

    E! news source = magic 8 ball

  14. Miss Jupitero says:

This sounds like something from Taylor’s camp. It also sounds like repeated material.

Seriously though what kind of person would dump their GF over their publicity? Hiddles would look terrible if he did that.

I think they are both going to lie low and avoid paps for a bit. Funny how that is easy to do when you don’t want to be in the papers. I suspect she is going to cling for dear life. I predict a huge engagement ring on time for the Emmys. That or a quiet break up.

    • OhDear says:

I wonder if they’ll break up so Taylor can try to bury the story and make herself look like a victim again. It’ll also be a bone for Tom (he’s going to get dragged no matter what he does with regard to this at this point, so he might as well make his escape).

Though I think you’re right on the engagement theory.

    • honeybee blues says:

Since when is dumping someone after finding out she is a bold-faced liar and thinly veiled racist a “terrible” thing to do. If I were even remotely in her circle, I would have bolted upon finding out what a vile human she is. The racism alone is horrifying, but when you add to that her publicly lying about a colleague, vilifying him in the the court of public opinion, insinuating he’s crazy and stalking her etc., one must conclude she’s clearly a nasty piece of work, and he needs to bolt and say why! I would stand and applaud him. Anyone defending her and not flat out distancing themselves from her, tacitly approve of her actions, and that’s repugnant. And mystifying. Which is why I think it’s real for him. Otherwise, NO ONE would blame him for bolting immediately from that vicious witch.

    • ME says:

As an engagement still doesn´t mean anything in Hollywood, they can get engaged (or ‘engaged’) before Emmys and split after that…there are million possibilities how to play this…

    • Miss Jupitero says:

If he suddenly wakes up and finds out she is vile, any intelligent person is going to say “Duuuuuuuhhhhh…. what did you think was going on here?” Tom is not a little innocent stumbling into this mess. He is not an idiot. He is very much a part of it.

And yeah, any reasonable person would grab their passport and run, but Tiddles is all about the PR narrative. Tom will not dump her over this because a.) he is very much a part of it, and b.) he does not want to be cast as the big bad terrible man who abandoned poor little Taylor in in Australia during her supposedly darkest hour. he has invested something, and will find a way to claim his ROI. I expect he will quit only when that is impossible.

      • Sixer says:

I concur. What will be his USP coming out of this? That’s what I want to know!

Raffles? (Jewel thief, not let’s sell tickets.)

      • Bonzo says:

I’ve been in the engaged-by-Sept camp and continue to be so in light of the past two weeks PR disaster. I also think she’ll lay low until the Emmys as she’s now overexposed and not in a good way. No reason to give the media any more fodder.

I think Tom will ride this out. He’s too cloistered to realize just how bad he really looks and has too much riding on the success of his PR agenda. He knows the public forgets once they go away for awhile. Judging from comments I see all over the webs, most sympathize with him being the “innocent” who got caught up in her unfortunate bad press. They don’t see him choosing this like we do.

      • Zuzus Girl says:

Honeybee Blues- can you expound on the racism accusations? (Not trying to argue it, just not sure when or what happened.)

  15. Fa says:

They are just trying to change the narrative by putting forward a happy relationship, now I think Tom is stuck with her for the next few months by playing the caring boyfriend & I’m still expecting a red carpet debut together & then we will see

  16. Iridescent says:

@Newwester: Joe Jonas said he never cheated on her, and you must’ve missed Calvin’s recent 50 shades of whine.

Call me crazy, but I’m rooting for this couple. I hope their relationship stands the test of time.

  17. Margo S. says:

Tom career is so done. I don’t even really know who is is. Never seen him in anything so I don’t really care. But it’s pretty sad/hilarious that this all blew up in his face.

    • Div says:

Come on, his career isn’t over. Gary Oldman and Jeremy Irons both said some truly offensive slurs (Irons was worse though). Terrence Howard is a wife beater and Sean Penn is also an (alleged) wife beater. Sienna Miller, Jude Law, Kristen Stewart, Hugh Grant, etc. all had a sex scandal. RDJ went to prison for his drug habit. All of the above named survived and even thrived.

Tom, in contrast, is with a pop star getting some bad press. It is nowhere near comparable.

      • Elisa the I. says:

THIS! Just think of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard – they were dominating online gossip until a few weeks ago and now everyone has forgotten about them. And the allegations against JD are much worse compared to TS.
I also wonder who these sources are, they sound like total fiction. I really hope TS joins TH at ComicCon.

      • Naya says:

He is a white dude, he will always have work if he wants it. However Taylor will receive a mention in every major profile ever writen about him henceforth and its hard for an article to retain gravitas after that.

      • Div says:

        @Naya
You are right in that he also benefits from white privilege, even more so for being a white straight posh British male. It’s not like he’s done anything scandalous in the first place though.

If it’s a footnote in articles about him, then it’s a footnote. There are plenty of other stars who have had to deal with the same thing (constantly having a foot note) and it hasn’t hurt them badly.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

I don’t believe it’s over either but those examples aren’t great because Tom is nowhere near these people’s fame or accomplishment level. They built careers before a horrible quote or stupid behavior could go viral (with a few exceptions).

      • LucyHoneychurch says:

If Johnny Depp’s scandal ends up blowing over, which it looks like to me it is (no criminal charges, he and Amber settling out of court, the gossip rags dropping the story, etc.), then this thing about Tom being a minor bystander in the larger Kanye vs. Taylor drama is not even a blip on the radar screen in the long run. Long term, Kanye and Taylor will “make up” again and will both continue to make $$$$$$ out of this supposed feud. At the end of the day, it’s all about the bottom line.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

        Yeah those examples seem off.

Some because they were vastly more successful and accomplished before their bad side was revealed to the public and others because their commenrs DID have an effect on their career.

Terrence Hoard’s career DID suffer for a very long time and he couldn’t get ANY work. Still today it’s still rather touchy.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

His image and his brand are permanently tarnished, and I doubt that this will help him ascend to the A-List status he craves, but his ability to find work will remained untouched. He is white and privileged.

But what kind of work are we talking about here? Bond was just a rumour. He just chalked up two films that tanked mightily. King Kong? That film based on a theme park ride?

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Hugh grant, RDJ etc. These people DID in fact pay a high price. Hugh Grant was well on his way toward being the perfect English leading man when his little incident happened. His brand was blown right out of the water. So to speak.

      • Div says:

        @Miss Jupitero

Many of them did suffer but they recovered just fine. Some bounced back with even better careers. That was my point. Considering Tom hasn’t even really done anything “wrong” in the first place, he’ll be fine considering others survived having true scandals.

The only thing working against him is that he’s more internet famous than famous famous and he has a habit of picking bombs (High Rise, I Saw the Light, Crimson Peak).

      • Bonzo says:

Tom never had any real chance of being an A-lister. His relationship with Taylor won’t change that. He’s a character actor and that best that he can hope for is steady work as a B-lister. Taylor makes him more well known in the mainstream as her bf and gives him the uber-wealthy private jet, McMansion lifestyle that he’s never had. If Taylor was an A-list actor (a la JLaw) I’d say the added benefit would be the professional contacts he’d have through her. But I don’t see Taylor helping Tom in that regard since they work in different industries.

The biggest payoff for Tom is that she can bankroll his production company, which is dependent on them staying together for many years, which seems doubtful.

      • Noname says:

@Div- I agree with you but others don’t see it that way. He’s a an actor, his career is not over. If Terrence Howard can still find work, so will Tom Hiddleston.

@Bonzo- If Tom hasn’t made plans to exit now, he’s not going to.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@LittleMissNaughty, actually, Hugh Grant is a perfect comparison. His career was really just starting. He had done several small British films or tiny bit parts in bigger films like Restoration and Remains of the Day and was relatively unknown in the US when 4 Weddings and a Funeral, yet another small British film brought him wide attention. Nine Months was to be his first big American star vehicle when he was arrested in a car getting oral from a prostitute right before the movie opened and he embarked on the publicity tour. He survived, although he admits Julianne Moore still won’t speak to him. He survived a real scandal. Tom will survive this, with or without Swift.

      • Naya says:

I agree with those of you saying that he hasnt actually done anything unlike Hugh Grant or Depp. But I also think this is embarassing to a guy like him who does care about how he is perceived. Dating a beloved pop princess is different from dating a pop star whose twinkle is being challenged in atleast one think piece in every major mainstream publication. When even his own intentions are being so publicly challenged, thats got to really bug Tom. Most guys wouldnt care but he most definitely does.

His career will be fine, although the dude needs to accept his place as character actor. I see his barely disguised A list ambitions and those will only frustrate him.

      • Gingerly says:

Oh, check Hugh Grant’s filmography after the arrest(1995). Notting Hill (1999), Bridge Jones (2001), About a Boy (2002), and Love Actually (2003). As Lilacflower said, Hugh Grant is really not a good comparison to those who expect Hiddles to fall down. I love Hugh Grant’s works before the incident such as Impromptu, Maurice, or the Remains of the Day because they are more experimental and indie, but I think his 2000 works are much more well known. I was surprised when Hugh Grant could play PM after the arrest.

      • jammypants says:

I love how people always mention his two indie films tanking, something even his contemporaries experience with their own indie films. The guy just got an Emmy nom and he’s gotten accolades for his theatre work, and yes even a BAFTA. His career is doing fine. He’s only dated Swift for a month and everyone is still overreacting. Come back in 5 years and then we can talk. As we speak, he is an Emmy nominated actor, working on a Marvel blockbuster and recently completed filming for a different blockbuster boasting a very nice, talented cast. He’s worked with top tier auteurs and has appeared in some Oscar nominated films himself.

Also, even if the likes of RDJ or JD earned their acclaim before their fallout, nothing Tom has done has been even remotely deemed destructive, unhealthy, or harmful. The hyperbole here is downright dramatic.

There is nothing wrong with ambition. He hasn’t trampled anyone in the process. He’s been very professional and always very respectful. If he wants to find success while still being a kind professional, good for him. It’s crazy the level of cynicism he gets when of all the stars listed, he’s got to be the least harmful and seemingly the most kind and professional.

    • spidey says:

@ Margo S “I don’t even really know who is is.” so you really are not in a position to make the comment.

    • daisie-b says:

The Telegraph just ran an article about the BBC doing a second season of The Night Manager. Season one was the most expensive mini series ever shot with a cost of $3,000,000. per episode His career is hardly done. It’s Bond that has been done to death.

      • Sixer says:

No, the Telegraph just ran an article about the BBC being in talks to adapt The Spy Who Came in from the Cold together with Paramount, just like The Night Manager was done with AMC. No news on S2 of The Night Manager – it depends how much money it returned stateside, I suppose because Auntie couldn’t afford anything other than halvsies on it. But it didn’t catch on to the same extent as it did in the UK, did it? Or did it? I don’t know.

Either way, LEGS won’t be the lead because the lead isn’t Pine. It’s a Cold War novel.

      • daisie-b says:

        @Sixer

The Night Manager is nominated for 12 Emmy awards, so I guess you could say it went over big here in the States. I don’t think any other show had as many nominations.

I’m not sure how to provide a link, but this quote was taken from the end of the story about Le Carre’s works being adapted for tv. Up next…The Spy Who Came In From The Cold

        “20 July 2016 10pm

In a separate development, The Telegraph can disclose that preparations for a second The Night Manager have advanced.” The same director is working with the writers to get the story she wants.

    • Mia4s says:

Done? Well yikes it’s not that dire. He’s likely hurt his standing for prestige movies but let’s face it, on that front for young British actors he was already far behind Hardy, Fassbender, Cumberbatch, Redmayne, etc. For dumb blockbusters? He could do OK unless Kong is terrible.

    • LucyHoneychurch says:

His career is not done. He was just nominated for an Emmy! That is a big deal even if he doesn’t win and if he does, are you still going to be pronouncing his career “over”? I would bet serious money he is being deluged by scripts right now. Even Taylor’s career is being helped by this. I read recently that 4 of her old albums are back on the Billboard 100 list this week. You don’t think there will be a huge amount of anticipation for her next album?

      • Lana 567 says:

I don’t know why people are saying tom’s career is over it’s just getting started. He’s in his mid thirties people please stop acting like Tom is 100 with one foot in the grave. Tom is a white man he will have a very long and varied career. It’s women that get put out the pasture as they get older. White men like Tom always have long careers.

    • cakecakecake says:

Trust me, Tom’s career is far from over. He had his acting chops before Tay-Tay and he will go on w/o her. I love him in a good drama! I am especially enamoured when he plays a louse or mean womanizer, he tickles me when he is brash in roles.

I think he looks good in these photos and I also cannot beleive that I have been pulled in.
just laugh at it all and have a great weekend.

    • BluBare-y says:

      @Margo,

And why is his career “so done”? Because YOU say it is? As you said, you don’t even know his work or anything about him. And, I think you’ll find that most of the blow back on TS is going to stick to her because it is absolutely, 100% directed at her.

Most people invested in chastising her are able to make the distinction that he is his own person and not a part of her feud-dramas.

    • Lena says:

Tom’s career isn’t over, but it will be very hard to recover fromthe damage that has been done. I was shocked to see that he doesn’t speak in the trailer of Kong Island. This was supposed to be his movie. He would look terrible leaving her before the Emmys. This glued to each other is what works for her; when they are apart …it will be a different story. This neediness of hers is tiring. He looks tired all the time, in fact.

  18. reg says:

I commented before they would be engaged before Emmys and guess what, they
are engaged before the Emmys. This is a horrible PR stunt gone wrong set my
by his publicist boyfriend. I could care less whether an actor playing James Bond is
    gay or straight.

  19. Betti says:

Its pretty much a given that she will recover from this but he won’t. His fledgling HW career/aspirations of HW leading man is over – no one will take him seriously now. Why would HW want to cast someone as a leading man who got involved with a spoilt child and her self created drama.

His infatuation with A List fame has bit him on the ass.

    • spidey says:

Well he hasn’t been to prison yet, unlike RDJ and he is still working.

      • Miss Melissa says:

RDJ’s saving grace is and always has been his undeniable talent. Had he not survived his drug years there would have been tributes about the tragedy of losing such a tremendous talent to addiction, etc. He was also a known quantity and academy award nominated actor when he fell from grace.

Tom is good at his job, but nowhere near the level of RDJ, in talent, fame, or professional respect. Not even close. He is Tumblr famous, but his career is still in its toddlerhood. This is his fast break into the big time. He has to play it correctly, or it will blow up in his face.

      • lilacflowers says:

RDJ was uninsurable and could not get work for that reason. Same with Lohan. Marvel took a real chance with RDJ. Tom has done nothing to damage his insurance status.

      • cakecakecake says:

        LOL!!!

Hollywood is very forgiveable and forgets easily when a good, gripping foreign film sweeps in. Tom will be fine, in my opinion.

      • Miss Melissa says:

        @cakecakecake
He has to get that fine foreign film first.

      • Alex says:

Except he was unhirable and had to hit rock bottom first. Jail. Then rehab. Lost being on a hit show. Lost his long time girl. Then years away from the spotlight and working smaller films before marvel gave him a shot. That took YEARS.

Tom doesn’t have a huge career to insulate him. He doesn’t have rave reviews on anything but TNM to back him. Its why he looks like an idiot and not getting a pass

  20. Luca76 says:

I highly doubt this has hurt Tom’s career. First off it wasn’t really in the best of places before this all started. Second he wasn’t ever actually in the running for Bond. And as silly as he looked on the fourth he’s done nothing that actually matches the behavior of either Ben Affleck during Bennifer 1.0 or Tom Cruise during his several week meltdown. All he has now is much more name recognition.

    • Div says:

Same. I’m not even a Taylor fan and I am just a casual Tom fan, but it’s weird how gleeful people, even his former fans, are at the idea of his career being over (and I highly doubt this mess would influence anything except maybe Bond).

    • Gingerly says:

I strongly believe Tom’s career will be influenced more by the global boxoffice of Kong: Skull Island than by his relationship or TS’s happening with Kanye. It’s just how the film industry works. Thor 3 will be just fine. These two blockbusters don’t utilize Hiddles’ image of a fine British gentleman or a “serious thespian” at all. To those who would argue serious auteur, indie directors will never hire an actor chided by every gossip, please check Kristin Stewart’s works after her infamous affair.

To be honest, I don’t think he will feel miserable when he gets a casting offer for a middle-aged British man who is foolishly infatuated with young American blond and makes a series of horrible mistakes. Maybe he will love it because it’s not the thing he has never done.

      • LinaLamont says:

        Yup. Agree with you.

And, there’s always theatre….and, if he so desires, being Mr. TS….

      • LinaLamont says:

Also, being a powerful producer is nothing to sneeze at. With her money, he could parlay his career into that. I don’t know how much of a producer he was on TNM. Anyone and their mother can get a producer credit on a film or tv show– it means nothing half the time, other than a vanity credit and money. But, a real career as a producer/studio/industry honcho is the top of the heap.

      • Bonzo says:

I do think this is his ultimate goal — producer / director. He has little chance of making it to the top as an actor at this point.

      • Naya says:

You are absoluetely correct although there was always a risk that casting an unproven and unknown like Tom would hurt Kong. Being TS adjacent is giving him name recognition that they are aleady trying to leverage for Kong with super early promotion.

As an aside, Kong will likely go the way of Tarzan. Both Warner Bros. Both cast untested foreign white male actors as leads. Both cast Sam Jackson as some kind of older black side kick. Similar genres and target audiences. Similar budget lines and both hoping the foreign market will guarantee some return. Tarzans production budget was $180M and add to that atleast $10M more for global P&A. In the three weeks its been out, it has made $200M only 45% of which was international. It may not be loss making but this is a studio flop by any standards. There will be no franchise here and Warner Bros cant be too optimistic for Kong. Tom reall needs this one to work or he will have to give up his A list fantasies.

I bet he, his team and the studio are looking at Tarzan and trying to see what they can do different at this point. Raise Toms profile must be high on the list..

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

        @Naya

I know all these decisions are years in the making but there are times I can’t even imagine what allowed them to think something would succeed as a movie let alone a franchise.

Tarzan as a story from commercials looked unnecessarily complicated and unappealing. It’s not exactly a beloved story like Cinderella so attempting to update it with some reboot of the story seemed strange at best. The Jungle Book while also being marketed to children was smart because it stayed true to the story (save for a few points) and let the cinematography and special effects be the star.

Tarzan? King Kong? I’ve even heard rumblings of The Invisible Man, Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman being rebooted as a tentpole franchise and I can see them all ending the same way.

      • Gingerly says:

        Naya,

everyone predicted that SI would be promoted at SDCC before Tiddles. It is almost common knowledge that studio blockbusters show something in the nearest SDCC. It’s really weird if they pass it.

Skull Island is quite different from Tarzan. Its genre is entirely different. SI is mainly a monster/kaizu movie. The main attraction in the movie is Kong and Kong fans are interested in Kong’s height and fur color rather than human beings (that’s one reason they didn’t mind casting Hiddles and a less known director). Also SI belongs to a trilogy: Godzilla (2014) – SI (2017) – Kong vs Godzilla (2020). I said this before somewhere in a previous Hiddles thread, please remember that Godzilla with less known actors (Aaron Jonson Taylor and Lizzie Olsen BEFORE Avengers 2) ended in 530 mil. Jurassic World, being about T-rex as well as human beings, earned 1, 670 mil, and PJ’s Kong (2005) earned 550 mil even when Chinese market was not big enough. I do think Warner and Legendary are referring to those films, not Tarzan. I also think Hiddles are a bit better known than Alexande Skarsgård globally, mainly because he is Loki. I love Alex.

Warner might be very glad if Tom’s name recognition gets higher, of course, but its effect won’t be that huge, especially if he breaks up with TS before the release of the film. Tom will dance like made again to sell this film as he has done with any of his indie films before, going everywhere from China, Singapore, to Australia.

I don’t know whether the success of SI will redeem allegedly destroyed reputation of his, but I am pretty sure its box office must be much more important than any aspect of his personal life when studios and directors consider casting him.

      • Bonzo says:

Gingerly, you bring up a point that I hadn’t thought about before. Even if Kong does as well at the BO as Gozilla, I doubt it would make a big difference in being cast as lead in other big-budget films. Much like staring in a Marvel blockbuster doesn’t automatically lead to a thriving A-list blockbuster career, it seems the Kong/Gozilla films are similarly able to sell themselves apart from whomever is starring in them. Like Gozilla fans, Kong fans will go see it (providing the reviews don’t suck) because it’s about the ape. So his agents may have a difficult time selling him as a lead in another action-adventure blockbuster since he’s not the reason it would make bank. He needs to prove himself in a film where it’s primarily about the lead character (ie Mission Impossible, Bourne, Indiana Jones, Hunger Games) and not an ape, gorilla or comic book characters that the audience are already invested in.

      • jammypants says:

Jurassic World came with its own built in fanbase, yet the media gave Chris Pratt a lot of credit. It’s probably due to his charisma, which Tom has on screen as well. Can’t say the same about Aaron Taylor Johnson with Godzilla.

      • Bonzo says:

Maybe it worked for Pratt because there wasn’t a particular mammal that was the star, so it left room for him to shine.

      • Gingerly says:

@ Bonzo, don’t underestimate velocireptors, indominous rex, and t-rex. They DO have fans. I still remember the three velociraptors’ name exactly. Chris Pratt made two hits successively, Guadians and JW. That’s why he got so popular after JW. I liked Chris in Guardians a lot but he was so so in Guardians and IMO JW is a mediocre film.

Hiddles worked for LEGENDARY in CP and Thomas Tull, Legendary CEO then, seemed to love him a lot. Tom’s character is a British soldier and if the characters was a Britisher in the script, why not cast him imstead of American beefy actors.

I guess both Hiddles and his agency knows very well he will not be fully reponsible for its successor failure and his posotion in HW won’t be changed dramatically after SI. He quickly corrected a reporter who asked whether he is a “lead” in SI, saying that he is “one of the main leads.” But SI will help him certainly in case the film doesn’t suck, because general movie going public will see him first in a more traditional male role running with muscles and guns. After TNM and SI, casting directors may want to see him in roles different from other roles he previously played. Unlike Aaron Jones Taylor, Hiddles has his Loki who will appear in Thor 3 in the same year.

Unlike many people here, I tend to think Tom has realistic expectations and accurate understanding of his place in HW while he sounds super-optimistic and has a great ambition about his career. Being ambitious, he may have many dreams: being an A list, playing Lear when old, working with Jun-ho Bong. And he has been always almost obstinate in pursuing his goals and to me that quality makes him interesting as an actor.

      • Annetommy says:

Come on Gingerly, “so so”? – Chris Pratt was bloody marvellous as Starlord in Guardians. I have no idea whether the Tiddles saga will negatively affect Tom’s career, but I find it odd that some people seem to be rubbing their hands together with glee at the prospect that it will. Schaudenfraude – is that the word?

      • BluBare-y says:

Gingerly, I so agree with you. Thanks for all your rational insights. It’s a refreshing change from what’s been spewing from this thread this past month.

In regards to Chris Pratt doing so well as the new leading man in big successful movies, let’s not forget that he’s American. Not to say he didn’t fit the parts and do well, but that’s just it, all these big movies that have been mentioned: Mission Impossible, Bourne, Indiana Jones, Hunger Games, Jurassic World are all American actors in the lead roll.

Even though the UK has tons of great actors, Americans still dominate in the lead roles of just about any film type. Most all English speaking movies are made for the American market and audience. Sure some non US actors have made it to leading man in blockbuster films, Hemsworth, Cumby (as Dr. Strange), John Boyega, Hugh Jackman, Henry Cavil, but the list starts thinning out pretty fast, Plus most of the lead roles these non-US actors played were American speaking characters as is almost always the case.

Just wanted to point that out cause it’s something that usually not given enough consideration when trying to calculate this industry and how the entertainment market is “culturally” structured overall. So there’s more than just the notion of whether Tom is a leading man or not. It’s also whether he can be American enough to be a leading man in BB$ films.

    • Jenelle says:

This is where you’re wrong. He is coming off of 4 failed movies. The Emmy is wonderful, but it is worth noting the Hugh Laurie was nominated for 7 . Hugh is so beloved that anything he does will be a winner. I am slightly taken back by the fact that he will no give himself some time to think about her ethics. See if you really know her.

      • BluBare-E says:

4 failed movies? Are you counting OLLA too? Anyway 3 of those films are independent and were not expected to make a lot in the BO. If OLLA under performed it was because of the director that held back on distributing or something of that nature. HR did as well as anybody expected especially with the limited theaters and engagement duration. ISTL did badly because people didn’t like the way the story was structured and because it wasn’t what they were expecting. All the critics phrased his performance though and berated the director for “wasting such good performances”. CP was a disappointment at the BO. But again he was one of three main characters. Mia was the lead role, and even Jessica’s established fame didn’t help it do better.

There’s been a lot of Big movie failures these past few years. There’s a bigger story here than TH somehow being a “failed” actor.

  21. Pegacorn says:

But i want them to last forever. I also want Tom to be Bond. Just because I wanna know if Taytay would pull a Pataky?

Not a Taytay fan, but I want to root for the mean girl. Hope she rises again and start her reign of terror. I want a red wedding with the Kardashians-West. Please let it happen.

    • Elisa the I. says:

“I want a red wedding with the Kardashians-West.”
      YES, PLEASE!

    • seesittellsit says:

Hon, no guy gets Bond who at 35 with rapidly receding hairline was papped in that tee shirt coming down a plastic water slide acting like a 14 year old, now linked to the Kardashian set and basically functioning as an accessory for Swiftie. Root for whomever you like, but Bond – if he wasn’t already off the list before July 4th, he was on July 5th. . .

    • jammypants says:

hahahha! also, I love your username

  22. Margo S. says:

I have one more comment about this. If this is a contract relationship, Tom can’t leave until the time is up. Think back to Katie Holmes and Tom. They had a 5 year contract. Even after the whole couch jumping incident, she couldn’t leave. Had to play out the contract. I think tom is stuck.

  23. Gingerly says:

There will be a Nerd HQ conversation with Hiddles on Saturday evening. Interesting. He didn’t need to it if he wants to minimize the risk and I thought that he might attend the Hall H panel only. I don’t expect much drama from that interview, or any interview in SDCC. It’s much likely that he refuse to comment about the matters not related to his work, which is his right. I believe Warner and moderators will do their best lest 190 mil. budget film get tainted by a silly feud among pop star singers.

    • The Understudy says:

Tom will not be able to escape Hiddleswift at Nerd HQ, I think some fans will just not be able to resist giving them their full support. I would not expect any direct questions because who wants to be the idiot that does that on a live stream but he could get asked questions about the media, gossip and all manner of things that may ultimately trip him up into going down a root of giving away more than he may want to, he is normally so considered with his answers and tries to be so very thorough, I predict a lot of umming and erring.

      • Gingerly says:

Haha, I suppose if someone asks about those things, etc., he can resort to his dear Hank Williams, talking endlessly about artists’ dilemma in dealing with their public persona. I may be too optimistic, but he will be more or less fine. What I want to emphasize was that he did not avoid a very predictable risk. Maybe he is over-confident about his ability to deal with TS gate, maybe he does not want to refuse Zachary Levi’s invitation, or maybe he wants to meet his fans (as there still exist quite a number). Who knows.

  24. PatriotsPower27 says:

I just don’t understand what I’m not seeing that everyone else can spot. How is Tom’s career over? His name has been in the press every single day. Can someone who is in the industry please provide their assessment of his potential to draw crowds? From where I sit (never heard of him before and have found myself dancing to a Taylor Swift song), his acting career doesn’t seem to be in shambles. Especially since all of the media insiders all assert that Taylor still yields a lot of power. Personally, I think Kanye and Kim are done. I own every Kanye album (pre-Kim) and I think Kim is an extremely astute businesswoman. However, if knew someone were taping my conversations (inadvertently or not) and had the audacity to release said footage without my knowledge, that relational would be shut down.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I think the idea is that we’ve all seen the interviews where a celebrity is asked about something frivolous/embarassing they’ve done rather than their work. When it comes to Taylor and her ex-boyfriends quite a few have had the tense interview after the break up where they literally say nothing or get up to leave without completing the interview. It’s just too good gossip wise for an interviewer to ignore and even if it tanks the interview they can’t help but bring it up.

Good or bad at least the narrative then that Taylor was just obsessive and that each relationship was doomed to die a loud painful see you on the radio Tommorrow death. Now that Taylor is publicly being called Regina George and a LOT of the public has turned against her I just don’t see how any interviewer could resist ignoring the soft material (oh you’re in a King Kong movie? That’s soo – yawn) and going for the juicy bits. “Is your relationship real?” “Is she really awful in private?” “Tom, what flavor I e cream does she like when her world’s crashing around her?”

Especially with Taylor gone completely dark Tom’s going to be their only ‘in’ and he’s going to find the public and media are more interested in the workings of his relationship than his actual work. Which gets to the point…he DOESN’T draw crowds. The majority of his career are flops. With the flops and the mockery about his relationship with Revenge Barbie will his career suffer? Who knows, but I can’t imagine this will help it, now more than any other guy there’s a level of expecting him to defend why he’s with her that is worse than it was during the cheesy beach strolling.

    • cakecakecake says:

      I agree!

    • Noname says:

I agree PatriotsPower37, especially about Kim & Kanye. It’s one thing to record everything you do when you are making an album but to release footage of it without getting a release to take someone down? Everyone in the entertainment industry have images to protect and I just don’t see too many people wanting to take a chance with either. However because it was Taylor Swift that it happened to no one can see the long term implications of this. And there are major implications for Kanye and Kim.

    • Original T.C. says:

“Personally, I think Kanye and Kim are done…if knew someone were taping my conversations (inadvertently or not) and had the audacity to release said footage without my knowledge, that relational would be shut down.”

Are you kidding? Kanye and Kim’s recording of the most famous two-faced Regina George in music have given them CREDIBILITY. They were the only ones smart enough to document a Taylor Swift backstabbing. In one move they have gone from superficial dummies to smart business people!

They are not over, they have gained respect as people who you can’t be played for fools. Perhaps backstabbers won’t want to work with Kanye but serious musicians who keep their word will.

Also I find it strange that anyone over the age of 18 thinks their phone calls are secure when we have been told by the press, our government, Jon Stewart and Jon Oliver that they are not. If you are an honest person and not a Regina George why would you freak out that a business deal was recorded? Or a promise to a friend???? I would have no problem with my conversations being recorded because I keep my world while others lie to me all the time.

Of course Tom’s career isn’t over. Most people in the U.S. had no idea who he was before getting with Swifty. If anything it has helped. Even Wendy Williams (O.K. I hate watch her show, don’t judge me!) thinks he is some jerky older man using Taylor to get famous and thinks Taylor should dump HIM!

      • Noname says:

I have a problem with my conversations being recorded without my knowledge and I am a honest person. I would also have a problem with someone releasing conversations they had with me on the internet if I didn’t give my consent.

And no, credibility is the last thing I think of when I think of Kim Kardashian, sorry. I actually think Kanye is a honest person. A jerk but honest. I just don’t see how anyone in the music industry is not thinking twice about this. I am aware that they all document their comings and goings but how many have released conversations, footage, recordings of people that didn’t consent to it? I’m just not understanding how this is a good thing. Maybe that is just me, I don’t know.

    • Evie says:

Tom’s career is not over. He is talented and well regarded as a stage actor. As a Hollywood “leading man” who can carry and drive box office receipts — not so much. His association with Swifty has raised his profile and not in a good way. He does come off looking like Taylor’s purse. Outside of the Internet and Comic Con he doesn’t draw attention. If he wants Hollywood A lister “leading man” fame, I fear that will elude him. Not necessarily because of Swifty but because he’s rapidly aging (which is partially due to Swifty in the last 6 weeks). However, he can have a great career as a character actor. I think the real danger to his career is if he allows himself to become Taylor’s purse and concentrates more on jet setting around with her. Taylor’s well documented MO of being a Stage 5 Clinger who goes everywhere with him and shows up on set or with him all the time could also become problematic. The ensuing media circus won’t go over well with studios and fellow actors who do NOT want to be upstaged by the TS drama. Remember what happened during the Coriolanus run? The folks at the Donmar Warehouse were overwhelmed by the crowds and providing extra security. Throw TS into the mix in a situation like that and it could create real problems. From a perception standpoint I do think if he continues with Taylor, he will be seen as even more elitist and white privilege as he flies around on her private jets to her various mansions accompanied by a fleet of bodyguards. In that sense he loses credibility in his charitable endeavors like UNICEF.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@PatriotsPower, proclaiming Tom’s career over is quite common here. If you go back and look at threads from the fall of 2013, there were near daily assertions that his career was over because: he gave cookie to Cookie Monster, recited Shakespeare to ducks, danced on a Korean talk show, sang kareoke in a car on a German talk show, could only do Loki or Shakespeare, and was just copying Cumberbatch. Meanwhile, he continues to work and earned an Evening Standard award and an Emmy nomination. He has two blockbusters coming out next year and he probably is in Infinity Wars (most of the Marvel actors like Evans, Boseman, Renner, Rudd, RDJ, and Tom have either nothing beyond their current project or one film off in the future listed on IMDB. Marvel is blocking out huge chunks of time for Infinity Wars). Branagh, Sony, Disney, the Ink Factory, Whedon, Wheatley, Jeremy Thomas, and others aren’t erasing him from their database just because he is dating Taylor Swift.

      • ennuiarethechampions says:

Yes, if one judged solely by CB comments, Tom’s career for the last three years has been nothing but one long, drawn-out death rattle. And yet he continued to work; how strange!

      • jammypants says:

@ennui, precisely! it’s quite the apocalypse here 😉

  25. Browniecakes says:

Tom will do Nerd HQ and a signing at SDCC. Luke is very busy scribbling sound bites onto Post-it notes.

  26. LucyHoneychurch says:

It doesn’t surprise me that he is sticking with her. The first Rhode Island beach photos she/they released were obviously dropped to deflect from Kim’s GQ interview about the Kanye tapes. So to get him to go along with it, she must have told him some version of the story he believed, right? This was at the very beginning of the public stage of relationship. Supposedly they have been “talking” since February so she’s probably been telling him hair raising stories about Kanye since then. I would imagine the version Taylor told him was just close enough to the truth because she knew the footage would probably be leaked eventually (else, what were all those cease and desist letters about) but shaded somewhat to reflect better on her and to make him feel protective. Probably some story about being played and betrayed.

Don’t forget, just because it turns out Taylor lied about the initial phone conversation doesn’t make Kanye’s actions (calling women bitches all the time, depicting Taylor naked in the Famous video without her consent, etc.) right either and I could understand why Tom might focus on that out of self interest.

    • Miss Melissa says:

Who knows? Real relationship, PR relationship? Regardless, her great power and wealth is part of what attracted him. If she were Jenny Nobody next door who looked and behaved liked Taylor Swift, do we really think he would have taken notice and gone all in? Doubtful.

No matter what the basis of the start of this relationship, with all this drama, he still just looks like a pu$$7.

Whether he is whipped by love or contract, it is not a manly look.

    • lilacflowers says:

Love your name. Will now need to watch Room With a View this weekend.

    • Caitiecait says:

It’s the coded racism in the response to the release of the tapes that bothers me and makes me lose respect for both TS and TH.

      • jammypants says:

How is TH racist? by association? If he breaks up with her during a time like this, that doesn’t speak well of him either.

      • lilacflowers says:

@jammypants, don’t you know? He’s supposed to go on a Twitter rant against her. We have no idea what he may have said to her in person. Couples do have disagreements and continue as couples. But to some, celebrities must live every aspect of their lives in public and carry out their personal conversations on Twitter instead of just sitting down on the couch and having a discussion.

      • jammypants says:

@lilac, but that would be too boring and logical. Tom is playing the fame game! So he’s actually racist, sexist, xenophobic, and anti-poor. The UNICEF work over the years is just for show didn’t you know? Lets forget the impassioned writing to raise awareness to war torn countries fighting not just for children, but also for women. And lets forget he’s flown there under the radar or prying eyes to do actual field work (and now it seems documentarian work).

it only takes stringing a few pictures together to tell the whole picture and every private thought and moment. One perfectly shot of a pissed off expression sells better than a nonchalant face a second later going to Starbucks or the gym.

  27. Browniecakes says:

Tom doesn’ t do bad guy in his personal life. I believe he is playing both the jester and the prince and keeping the mood light. She needs to chalk up a win at something, anything and then he can bail. Are they in love? I’m sure he’ll be asked at SDCC – the most ridiculous forum for rolling out a serious relationship!

  28. bread says:

I remember reading a comment somewhere (ohnotheydidn’t or Jezebel, I don’t know) just when this whole Kimye/Taylor/receipts debacle dropped, saying that they predicted that the Hiddleswift pap walks would cease for a time while Tom and his team figured out how they wanted to proceed with this relationship. And when the lovey-dovey pap pics stopped coming, sources close to Taylor’s team would leak these stories instead about Tom being supportive and loving in private.

I’m frankly astounded how right they were.

    • pikawho? says:

It was probably ONTD, its filled with PR interns lol. You can tell by the “stans” that only post in batches about celebs who just so happen to be repped by the same company. They spill juicy stuff every so often to make up for it.

You just know he’s listening to that one Dido song on repeat “I will go down with this ship…”

  32. Caitiecait says:

I don’t know if TH’s career is over, but it wasn’t great when he got together with TS. I Saw the Light and High Rise did poorly at the box office and critically and while The Night Manager got good reviews, the ratings in the US were pretty meh.

I think he will still work, but I don’t know if he will be like Fassbender, Cumberbatch, and Redmayne. I don’t know if he will become a big leading man. And I think his popularity got a huge boost from Marvel, but once that is over, who knows.

    • jammypants says:

I don’t think Fassbender does great either outside of X-Men. His movies mostly flop, and some get good reviews, while others get bad reviews. Only leg up he has is his Oscar nom.

      • Caitiecait says:

Fassbender is considered a better actor and has 2 Oscar nominations, not one. And he was in a best picture winner.

Let’s not forget that Hiddleston only got Only Lovers Left Alive because Fassbender dropped out. Ditto Crimson Peak and Cumberbatch.

      • jammypants says:

I don’t care who got what roles. If we harp about leftovers, Cumberbatch got Khan from Benecio Del Toro, Fassbender got third crumbs from Dicaprio AND Bale for Steve Jobs, so on and so forth. Jennifer Lawrence got her nom from taking a role Anne Hathaway walked away from. Picking and choosing roles is a game of musical chairs. No one can predict the outcome.

And lets not take away credit. Tom also gets handed roles too anywhere from Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg, Ben Wheatley, and Marc Abraham. He was first pick.

“Fassbender is considered a better actor and has 2 Oscar nominations, not one. And he was in a best picture winner.”

2 then. And Tom appeared in two Oscar nominated films. Anyway, the point I was making is the men you listed also face their own flops and also have to earn their bread. Tom is just doing what any actor with ambition is doing: working hard and choosing roles to better his craft. I understand the comparisons will never go away, but people here act like it’s a crime that he has ambition. A-lister means nothing today, just look at Hemsworth. He’s an expensive flop at the box office outside of Marvel and the first Snow White movie.

      • lilacflowers says:

Who would we consider the better actor of this list: Cumberbatch, Fassbender, Redmayne, Hiddleston, or Alan Rickman?

Alan Rickman was never nominated for an Oscar.

Humphrey Bogart got Casablanca after Ronald Reagan said no.
Ray Bolger got the Wizard of Oz after Buddy Epsen dropped out.
Cumberbatch got Black Mass after Guy Pearce dropped out and he was horribly miscast.
Chris Evans got Snowpiercer after Hiddleston declined due to scheduling conflicts and he was offered it only because Fassbender declined.
And then there is the casting of Dr. Strange.

Would put a month’s salary on an engagement before the Emmys and the biggest celebrity bump-up of his career – everything his career never gave him. He’s got five minutes to get a moment in the sun like his pal Cumberbatch’s (now dimming, I might add) and his movies weren’t doing it for him.

Nope. As they say, you can check out, but you can never leave. He wants to talk about his work? What work? Loki? Skull Island is apparently having serious difficulties . . .

Stick a fork in him, he’s done.

    • Miss Melissa says:

There is no denying that his most famous role is that of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. That is the only work most people will be interested in hearing about. He is deluding himself if he thinks otherwise.

Not so bright, in the end.

    • LadyLoo says:

As I’ve written before – he can now add ‘Professional Boyfriend’ to his CV and IMDb page (there’s been enough pap walks for them to be considered a ‘short.’).

  35. Grace says:

    So no news?

  36. MI6 says:

This E! story 100% her team’s doing to make up for KUWTK debacle. They also penned another editorial this a.m. saying how she’s going to come back from this unscathed. #asskissing
TayTay is straight up using Tom – he’s the only good PR she’s got right now. And he’s allowing it. His PR is keeping a lid on the lovey-dovey pap walks since he needs to go back into Serious Actor mode for Emmy contention. Also betting she won’t be in attendance at SDCC. Luke will put the kibosh on that.
I think it’s “real” for him because he’s delighted the head cheerleader picked him, but as someone else said, she has no idea what “real” is.
Agree with Kaiser. Done before the Emmys.
Bringing back #THexit today. Let’s have a referendum!

  37. Pegacorn says:

But funny enough, despite Kim’s explosive journalism, KUWTK’s rating was even lower than last week. Lol they need another gimmick. Why not a Kanye is gay narrative? Or Kylie pregnancy scare?

  38. shelly says:

There will be no THexit, TH is a Remainiac all day long.

He will cling to TS and produce a family heirloom engagement ring in time for the Emmys.

These two are made for each other, the wedding will be spectacular and I for one can’t wait.

  39. A. Key says:

So a lying manipulative mean girl is the kind of woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with?

    LOL

    • LadyLoo says:

I think some need to realize that this quote (as fake as it may be) says a lot about TH. He lied and manipulated just like TS. He produced and wore a fake persona just as she did. They’re two peas in the same pod.

      • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

True. In the end, you don’t necessarily get what you wish for. You get what you deserve.

      • jammypants says:

Wait so you’re going by a fake quote and in the same breath use it to judge his character? People are going overboard with this.

      • LadyLoo says:

No, jammy, I’m not basing my argument on the quote. I’m saying the quote *in general* sums up TH. I won’t go through the list of 180s he’s pulled recently, but it seems as if he has been just as fake and manufactured as Miss Swift, so of course he’d want to spend the rest of his life with someone like her.

      • jammypants says:

Gotcha, we’ll agree to disagree 😛 I don’t think him dating her necessarily makes him fake at all. If he’s infatuated with her I can see why he doesn’t mind the press running away with everything they do (though I bet he regrets some of it).

      • BluBare-E says:

” He produced and wore a fake persona just as she did. They’re two peas in the same pod.”

So OTT, as usual. So what if he agreed to a PR relationship. Like this is the first PR stunt pulled by HW actors. This is the industry. This is how it works. There’s a lot of money riding on these films and on careers. It’s not admirable, and no, not everyone does it, but plenty have.

Besides, he’s got nothing else going on in his romantic life anyway. He works and travels all the time. So a globally famous, long legged, 26 yr old arranges for you to be her rebound boyfriend that travels and keep you company 24/7 when you haven’t had an outed relationship for almost 5 yrs. I think Tom would do it just to have a warm body there to talk to for a change, and it will up his profile. What’s there to say no to, especially in his line of work?

Still, none of this is evidence that he wore a fake persona as you’ve been ranting for some time. I can understand not thinking well of his recent choices and calling him out on PR strategy, but that’s about all you’ve got, and it doesn’t not negate who he’s been consistently over the years.

  40. what's inside says:

I believe it is love and enthusiastic sex. Tom is a mature man who probably is not thrown off by this kind of hoopla, especially when it comes in a lovely package who is a music biz powerhouse and wealthy beyond words. Career? Eh, who cares. Getting long in the tooth anyway and definitely not Chris Hemsworthy.

  41. K.C. says:

If he really loves her and this isn’t for show, I’d expect nothing less? That just goes for all couples in general. You don’t abandon ship because your partner royally screwed up, unless they royally screwed you up. If this is indeed a PR relationship, I’d suggest he hit the road as soon as her image recovers a bit, but if they’re in an actual relationship, leaving her right now would be a bit shifty.

After the initial hysteria over her lying, I’m noticing the tide is already turning in the think pieces, shifting from “The beast has been unmasked!” to “Wow, we took a lot of pleasure in Taylor stumbling. That may have been a slight overreaction.” The more in-depth analyses of this situation are genuinely great reads.

    • Noname says:

The tide has been slowly turning all week, the more in depth reads all indicate Taylor Swift will recover from this. It’s just not good for gossip, though.

      • Dara says:

Was there ever a question she wouldn’t recover, either personally or professionally? The only thing recent events may have damaged is her ability to fall back on the Poor Taylor defense in the future. That narrative is wearing thin, and she is far too popular, successful and – dare I say – old, to keep playing the victim and/or underdog. She and her team have been very shrewd, and absolutely ruthless, about building an empire, but they’ve done it behind the scenes while Taylor fronts as the sweet, innocent ingenue. That is what needs to change. She needs to ditch the hypocrisy. It’s time for Tay-Tay to embrace her power in full view of everyone.

      • K.C. says:

@Dara Kim exposing a flaw of Taylor’s in an irrefutable way might work in her favor in the long run. The goody two-shoes schtick could only last so long anyway, especially since it was clear it was a bit hypocritical given past behavior. She’s closer to 30 than 20, now—time to embrace a more grown up image, which means letting go of the America’s Sweetheart ideal.

      • Dara says:

@K.C. – it will be interesting to see which way she turns going forward. Is she going to cling to the tween-angst, ugly-duckling-turned-swan shtick, or will she try to switch out her persona for something that is more mature? Is she even capable of that, and would there be a market for the music that results?

Let’s face it, she’ll be aging out of the tween, twenty-something fanbase at some point – that audience doesn’t want to see someone old enough to be their mother standing on stage singing about the boy who dumped them at prom, it just doesn’t work.

      • K.C. says:

@Dara I think a lot of artists are able to grow up alongside their fans. The tween/teen crowd she first grabbed when she first started out is right around her age, and will tire of the love song/victim schtick soon enough. As she grows up (assuming she will, eventually), she’ll find other things to write about. If she’s willing to let go of her immaturity a little bit and start finding a more mature voice, I’d bet people would respond to it—and she just might get the respect from people who considered her teenybopper music, too. If she executes it right, it could go well. But that all hinges on her ability to mature in her personal life.

    • popup says:

You’re so right on, again! How the public has reacted to this is as much a reflection on society as it is a revelation of Taylor’s supposed snake-like tendencies. This particular flavor of takedown gossip and public shaming is the modern-day version of the gladiator games. People love to watch people brutalize each other. People love a good public tar-and-feather party, whether the target is Taylor, Kim Kardashian, Kanye or Leslie Jones – and no, I’m not equating Taylor with Leslie Jones, but the fact is, neither of them deserves this type of public debasement. As much goodness as there is in the world, I truly believe this is the dark side of humanity, the glee that people take in cutting others down instead of trying to inject some empathy and human understanding. Just not lest ye be judged and all that.

      • K.C. says:

SPIN had a really good, balanced article dissecting exactly that.

      • jammypants says:

It’s a part of human nature that quite nasty. I agree. That said, I’m glad she’s getting slapped with some reality that not everything revolves around her idea of perfection.

      • Lena says:

You would have a point had their not been one reality that is now revealed: Taylor has a long history of character assassination of her own. I am not remotely familiar with her music and I only read three articles in very well respected publications and I was stunned at her name dropping, using the likeness of people, and history of mean, petty lyrics. This is why no one is giving her a pass.

    • Div says:

      @K.C.

Agree. If he’s dumping her because he’s tired of her shenanigans, okay. If he’s dumping her simply because of the negative press, that would earn him a serious side-eye.

    • LucyHoneychurch says:

“After the initial hysteria over her lying, I’m noticing the tide is already turning in the think pieces, shifting from “The beast has been unmasked!” to “Wow, we took a lot of pleasure in Taylor stumbling. That may have been a slight overreaction.” The more in-depth analyses of this situation are genuinely great reads.”

I agree. Plus I’ve noticed that a few pieces have mentioned that this could be a great opportunity for Taylor to be more authentically herself as she is now and has been for a few years: a shrewd, calculating, majorly successful businesswoman and to shrug off that “aww shucks, little ol me?” act that got old ages ago. There’s nothing wrong with being smart and savvy, after all, as long as you’re not simultaneously trying to shoehorn yourself into the innocent, little girl who needs to be protected box all the time. People will like her better for just owning up to who she actually is.

      • K.C. says:

I’d agree with that assessment. She’s a grown woman now, not the teenybopper she started off as. She masterfully shifted her image from country to pop—no reason why she can’t transition from a young, delicate flower into a powerful adult. Because she IS powerful. She should own it, rather than try to hide it under the guise of a sweet, innocent, unassuming girl. I think this last era she did start to own the fact that she was powerful/in control of the narrative—at first. Blank Space is a very crafty, smart stab at the media. But then things got away from her, as I believe Little Darling noted somewhere else on this thread—she started to become a caricature of herself, parading random people on her stage and deciding it was a good idea to drag Kanye at the Grammys.

You can’t have it both ways. You can certainly be a nice, genuine person who is intelligent and calculating about their career. But you can’t pretend to be an innocent victim while also strategically taking down your enemies. C’mon now.

    • Jess says:

Your comments have been really spot on throughout this entire drama. Seriously, thank you for your balanced and level-headed commentary throughout this whole TS vs. KK drama.

Now I’m off to read that SPIN think piece you mentioned lol

  42. Trinity says:

Phone messages and approvals aside, damage is done. And by damage – the cats out the bag that Taylor is the real wolf and no more sheep image. It’s not even about Kimye anymore… But the laundry list of enemies and beefs one person has where they pretend to be the victim and Taylor has outworn her welcome. Take time off.

She needs Tom too much. No breakup anytime soon but we all know that train is coming Bc it’s never late and it’ll be when she’s back on top vs him. As for Tom, I have to agree… Loki or Night Manager can give him what’s lost. Dignity and humility here. Too much too soon on taymerica bus of shame.

    • Bonzo says:

Someone reported on twitter that they flew in her private jet with a refueling stop in Hawaii. This goes to prove they wanted the huge press welcome when they arrived in Oz two weeks ago, even though her private plane was an option.

I guess she’s going with the being seen in public smiling with her man strategy instead of hiding out.

      • Westiesheepie says:

It was not her private plane which does not have the range. They took a corporate jet provider by the studio of Skull Island since Tom needed to be at Comicon. And it doesn’t prove she called the paps. Since they are the biggest story right now, the paps are laying in wait for them since their pics are big bucks! Stop with this old narrative. Just accept it for what it appears. Two people trying to have a relationship amid global scrutiny.

      • jammypants says:

“Just accept it for what it appears. Two people trying to have a relationship amid global scrutiny.”

        Pretty much

      • Lilacflowers says:

Her private plane couldn’t handle that distance. Even many of the big commercial flights stop along that route for refueling and to change pilots. Her plane might have met them in Hawaii but not Australia.

      • Bonzo says:

Westiesheepie, unless you have receipts on that, I doubt they were in a corporate plane. It’s inefficient and costly to fly actors from around the world in the studios corporate jet. It’s more likely they were booked on a non-commercial flight (private jet) either booked by the studio or by Tom’s team for reimbursement. I read something online about Australian private jets and they said the larger ones either refuel in Honolulu en route to the US or the Maldives en route to Europe. So I’m inclined to believe that’s what they did and hence why no one saw them leave or arrive.

I never accept anything in Hollywood for what it appears. That’s just plain naive, in my opinion. The photos last night were meant to show the world that all is well is TIDDLESland, lest she be accused of cowering in shame. Whether or not that’s really the case is anyone’s guess.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Westiesheepie, the paps are parked at every airport in Southern California right now, trying to catch anyone coming/going to SDCC, not just Tom and whatsherface

    • Grace says:

Was he wearing the grey suede shoes again?

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Does this man have ANY other clothing?

      • popup says:

Nope. But he makes sure to go shopping once small holes start developing in his crotch and elbows.

      • K.C. says:

What’s the point of dating the highest-earning celebrity if she doesn’t buy him a new wardrobe? Lol. I feel like most girlfriends would be like, “Listen, this ‘same clothes every day’ thing isn’t going to fly.'”

      • jammypants says:

@KC that refutes the theory that he’s a kept man. He still does his own thing not giving a toss.

      • Bonzo says:

From what I’ve read about her past relationships, she seems to bend over backwards trying to be what she thinks her boyfriends want her to be. Mirroring them in her apparel is just a sign of a bigger relationship dynamic, methinks.

Guys, of course, are generally clueless as to how messed up this is until things begin to unravel or she reverts back into her authentic self. No wonder I hear so many say, “She changed!”.

    • shelly says:

Yay Tiddles isn’t going away just yet, I hope they get spotted pda’ing asap.

    • Bonzo says:

She’s dressed just like him too with the dark t-shirt and jeans.

      • Grace says:

        I think that’s the idea. Couples-twinsies-matching outfits.

      • LadyLoo says:

Her twinning with boyfriends is indicative of her complete lack of self-esteem and awareness.

      • jammypants says:

Since he wears the same things over and over, it’s she who is going matchy matchy.

      • Bonzo says:

Yep, and it speaks to her insecurity that she can’t find her own fashion sense and own it. She trying too hard to be a mirror image of him instead of her own unique self.

      • jammypants says:

        @Bonzo check this out http://i.imgur.com/3iF2Nrx.png

      • Bonzo says:

Geez. She does know that we see what she’s doing, right? Are coordinated couples supposed to be compatible?

      • jammypants says:

Maybe Tom is teaching her to be more laid back, to remove some of that stick up her rear. I’m being mean, but I don’t like her one bit 😛

    • LadyLoo says:

All black…in mourning no doubt for her fake image and victim status.

    • LucyHoneychurch says:

She’s still carrying that LV purse! Haha. I’m sorry but I love Taylor.

    • Elisa the I. says:

HA! Please, gossip gods, let her join him at ComicCon!

    • LucyHoneychurch says:

The really interesting question will be whether she goes back to Australia with him after Comic Con is over. Any guesses?

      • K.C. says:

When they first went to Australia I thought she’d stay in California after SDCC. But after all the drama that has gone down, she might just hunker down with him again Down Under after this weekend. She has nowhere else to be.

  43. Chelsea says:

It shows who Tom really is doesn’t it? If this is the type of woman he wants to spend all that time with. That genuine thoughtful nice guy act was just well.. an act. Birds of a feather flock together.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

      $$$$$$$

    • Portia says:

@Chelsea – It really does, doesn’t it? Then again, Taylor also puts on the elaborate nice sweet girl next door act. Together, they really are the perfect couple of two people pretending to someone they really aren’t. I wonder how that affects their relationship in private. Do they lie to each other and manipulate each other too like they do everyone else?

      • K.C. says:

I’m getting some “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” vibes from this comment, haha. It’d be quite fascinating if people imagine them to be this absurdly polite, vanilla couple when in reality they let their freak flags fly together.

They’re two birds of a feather in bad ways and good. They’re both very uptight about their image, very needy for acceptance/adoration, and revel in the spotlight. On their better sides, they both seem to be hardworking, romantic, sentimental folk who would appear to have decent hearts (for their fans if no one else), even if their minds are calculating as hell.

      • Portia says:

Unfortunately KC I don’t see the humor in this anymore. I don’t see these two as having a kind spot for their fans. They see their fans as a means to make money. It amuses me to see people describe these two as calculating in the same breath as seemingly having decent hearts and being sentimental. As if that’s a compliment.

Calculating is not a flattering description nor is it an enviable trait. The way Taylor lied, manipulated and exacerbated a petty situation unnecessarily and how one of her friends even tweeted comparing the whole thing to a typical racist narrative (Nicole Simpson one by Kahn which was completely unnecessary btw and downright pathetic to compare something this petty to something so horrific) and the way Tom has stood by her side supporting it all shows there is a level of maliciousness to this couple. Sure you can write it all off and buy into the whimsy they’re selling you and while it was funny watching their over the top scripted romance before but now after the tape’s release and her and her friends’ attitudes, it’s made this whole thing rather ugly for me. I’m no longer amused by this couple and I’m actually pretty uncomfortable with the levels of deceit and apathy in them. A complete 180 to the kind compassionate drivel they both peddled to their masses before.

      • Dara says:

@Portia, you summed that up well. Agree 100%.

      • jammypants says:

A breakup is too dramatic. You can be someone’s partner and not be part of their antics. My sister loves her husband but she is a feminist and he’s doesn’t give a crap about women’s rights and thinks women should stay at home and raise the kids. He still supports her career though and takes on the kids when he gets home from work.

      • K.C. says:

@Portia to be clear I wasn’t complimenting either one of them for being calculating. I meant that as in they’re extremely careful and strategic about their careers, to a very high degree. In Taylor’s case, that sometimes means taking down enemies, which is obviously not respectable or likable in any sense.

That said, I do believe everyone has a lot of nuances to their personality, and what we see in the press is a broad narrative of that. I do think they’re both good to fans, because they don’t need to take time for them in order to have success, and yet they’ve still both proven to take a lot of time and effort into cultivating that relationship. Is it purely altruistic? Of course not. But there’s some genuine kindness there—the idea of being thankful to the people who helped you get to where you are.

I don’t necessarily view this whole situation the way you do, but I agree it took a horrifyingly ugly turn when some of her friends started jumping in. But the original situation, with Kim/Kanye/Taylor, is still just silly gossip fodder to me. Not fun, but not serious, either. They’re all acting like children over what shouldn’t have even been an issue to begin with, so it’s hard for me to look at it as anything else. I say that with respect to you, of course and not meaning to come off as argumentative. Just wanted to explain my comment. 🙂

      • Portia says:

K.C. – There are many actors and musicians who have very strategically and successfully carved amazing and highly respectful and lucrative careers for themselves at greater heights than Taylor and Tom, all while retaining authenticity of character and genuineness and not condescending to this level of pettiness and heavy, heavy scripted behavior. Those same people have tackled their adversaries or unsavory PR situations with dignity. They haven’t calculated their images the way Taylor and Tom have by clearly pretending to be someone they’re not.

You’re correct that people’s personalities have many nuances however, there’s an inherent trait that all those nuances oscillate to and from. Self interest with a lack of moral compass seems to be this couple’s core. More or less like Kimye. And of course Tom and Taylor have to be nice to their fans. It’s their bread and butter. Tom has a tiny fanbase in comparison to Taylor and his contemporaries. He definitely needs to be polite and kind to them. He presented an image of hating the circus of celebrity and he was respected for not being a sellout. Yet suddenly he had no problem in parading his mother and little niece when the opportune moment came. So much for that false display. Taylor courts her fanbase as actively as she courts the press because she uses both to present a wholesome sweetheart image of herself. She’s your best friend that you can tell anything to and she’ll always have your back. But after seeing how she lies and manipulates her colleagues instead of sincerely clearing a misunderstanding, would you want to be her friend now? That every girl’s friend who was strong and kind was a central focus of her brand and now that credibility has cracked.

And the whole coded racism mess that these two are staying completely silent upon and haven’t even asked their friends to retract or apologize for? That’s utterly disgusting and shows how unbothered these two are by that as long as they keep getting press coverage and the tabloids are putting their pictures on the front cover. Maybe its all because I’m old and hence, I can’t laugh this away anymore now that’s it crossed over into this but it is interesting to see people still finding humor and entertainment rather than annoyance at the lying, manipulating and coded racist sides of two celebrities who always made us believe they weren’t like this at all.

Anyways, carry on. Enjoy the show.

      • Grace says:

        @Portia Very well said.

      • oya says:

your comment reminds me of the end of a Shakespeare sonnet.

Therefore I lie with her, and she with me,
And in our faults by lies we flattered be.

Wonder if it’s running through TH’s head now.

    • Bonzo says:

We are attracted to the kind of person we want to be like.

I do think it’s likely that she’s got him hoodwinked to some degree. She, like Tom, is very sweet and charming and he could be buying into her victim persona hook, line & sinker. I doubt he’s taken the time to read any of the think pieces that should make him look at her in a new way. He’s steeped in the infatuation of the early months of a relationship and will believe what is easiest and most convenient to believe. He’ll learn, eventually since you can’t live that intimately with another person without rubbing up against the real person at some point.

      • MI6 says:

        @Bonzo 👏👏👏

      • jammypants says:

I think you hit it head on. I fully believe he’s more naive than calculating like everyone has been guessing.

      • Bonzo says:

Jammy, I’m trying to give him any benefit of the doubt I can! My default setting is to say he owns his bad choices.

      • The Understudy says:

This is the thing, I think Tom wants to be be fun as well as being a serious actor and her life sure looks like that. Her work is her work just like his work is his, he can be supportive whilst keeping out of it. Maybe he does not want to be with his intellectual equal at home and is happy with someone who likes the high life and is also often portrayed as a homebody out of the spotlight. They are still truly getting to know each other and even though we all have faults in our personas learning to love those is part of building a loving relationship. They clearly both see potential since they have been inseparable for 6 weeks. I think they both look like they have hit the jackpot in finding each other right now but this has a long way to go yet. The fact that she is on a break and he seems to have gaps in his schedule has given them room to dive in head first and not come up for air, at some point they will have to and there will be more serious real life things to deal with. I doubt the media circus is affecting them anywhere near as much as us onlookers think, they are just carrying on regardless.

Personally though I see how much Tom has apparently let himself be drawn into her world, her way of living and loving, I wonder how happy he was in his former personal life and how much more he is willing to do to keep her happy? Who knows maybe we will see some big changes in her, some maturity and dignity and class may follow as she certainly seems to need rebranding right now.

    • jammypants says:

He hasn’t hurt anyone or their career or image or said anything bad about anyone ever, so no, he’s not in the same league as Taylor. Ever.

      • EnnuiAreTheKChampions says:

Exactly. Not even in the same sport.

      • Dara says:

@Jammy & @Ennui, I’m sure there’s a potential joke about Tom being Taylor’s caddie or ball-boy while she plays her games, but I’m too weary of the whole mess to even try.

      • jammypants says:

@Dara @Ennui, we should retire the evening at Lilac’s veranda. I’d love a nice summer cocktail right now.

      • lilacflowers says:

Sorry, I’m late to hosting the party. I had to watch dear Idris in Star Trek Beyond. We have frozen daiquiris, gin & tonic slush, frozen mudslides, and vodka spiked frozen watermelon.

    • KatM says:

Yes, it really is supremely disappointing. I thought he would have more taste than to go Ursula/Alex Forrest/Sybil. Too bad Natalie Portman is married, I could see them together. Anyone but Zombie Skipper (Barbie).

  44. Guesto says:

Oh Yay! The TayTo tour continues! My summer of fun is back!

@Bonzo – or alternatively, he’s an ambitious 35yr old man who knows when he’s on to a good thing and is more than happy to put up with the downsides because the upsides are so appealing.

But then, I’m probably one of the very few people on here or elsewhere for that matter who think this Tom is way more interesting and entertaining than the old Tom.

    • Bonzo says:

Guesto, Cockwomble Tom is way more interesting than the old version. I do think he’s in too deep to be able to see what’s really wrong in the relationship and as long as he has the endurance to deal with the bad press, he’ll stick with her. I’m not expecting a breakup until next year at the earliest.

    • Grace says:

I would like to know how this helps, career wise. How many doors will be opened, where can he go and how far can he go. But I guess only time will tell.

    • K.C. says:

New Tom (or as I prefer to put it, real Tom who has always existed and people were just in denial about it) is way more interesting. Perfect, untouchable Prince Tom drove me mad. This Tom is both entertaining and likable, because he’s no longer flawless in the eyes of his fans. I dig it.

  45. MI6 says:

Very telling that his face is obscured in these new photos. It’s a metaphor for this whole relationship – he has all but disappeared into the vortex that is TayTay.
    Shame.

    • LadyLoo says:

I like how his presence and name are an elided afterthought in the title. ‘Oh, yeah, that guy’s there too, but mostly it’s TayTay smiling.’

    • Guesto says:

@MI6 – meant to respond to you on an earlier post re ‘lost and gone forever’. Yes, to Irish, no to ‘The Town I Loved so Well’ being my inspiration – it was just me being dramatically tongue-in-cheek at the loss of the TayTo laughs. But I loved (and laughed heartily at!) the appropriateness of the lyrics you picked out because they were so applicable to the TayTo ‘tragedy’.

(But I must also say those lyrics, carried on the heartbreaking beauty of Luke Kelly’s voice, are far too meaningful to be associated with the TayTo.)

      • MI6 says:

Hey Guesto! I knew it! What county do you hail from?
That song features prominently in a pivotal scene in the novel I’m working on. I guess there was some kind of unconscious association with those particular lyrics, which as I’m sure you know, are about a military takeover.
        #theirony

  46. Jeanette says:

Does anyone else find it fishy that this report is coming from E! ie the Kardashian network?

    • me says:

Of course. E News is the most biased when reporting about the Kardashians or anything related to them.

  47. I feel like there’s a 100% chance that this came from team Swift. First, this is her MO. The media could always ask Tom directly about relationships or Bond or his education and he would answer thoughtfully & politely, even if to say it’s private, or he understands people think he’s posh etc. Tom isn’t known for having to leak via pr people his feelings about something or someone because he’s too important & refuses to answer questions. That’s Taylor’s MO.

I love how Taylor and/or her pr team appears to read what is being said about her not just via a cover story but peoples opinions in the comments of all those articles because a day or two later, there’s a rebuttal on the same topic from E! or US or whoever. Which shows she is a control freak & obsessed with her image. How sad. Who cares Taylor. Live your life. Especially the story that just came out about Tom looking for a way out. The next day this story appears that no, ‘Tom is happy with me, I mean Taylor. Yeah, um, and uh, not only happy with me, uh I mean Taylor, he is crazy about me and wants to take it to the next level.’

    Huh?

Taylor’s insider, “He knew that would come with the course of dating her. He has been supporting her and enjoying the time he’s having with her. They’re having a great time and are always laughing.”

If Tom was really supportive of her craziness then he could’ve released one little tweet during the Kimye prosecution of her, which you know Taylor would really have loved, being the English gentleman he is and everything. . I mean, he had no problem wearing the I heart TS tank top in the beginning for the world to see but now he’s gone silent when she needs support.

The responses from this article evokes a clear picture of Taylor hiding in the closet in the middle of the night with her laptop & a bottle of wine raging, while Tom is sleeping, reading all of these negative articles about her and typing away furious responses to her pr team to send to the tabloids as her good girl, victim, image spirals out of her control.

    • Grace says:

One word: deniability. Being photographed hand in hand wearing semi-matching couple outfits after snapchat!gate is one thing; openly tweeting support for the woman he’s in the relationship while she’s caught lying and all the negativity to go with it, including coded racism, is quite another. The former he’s just in love. The latter too much controversy and he really doesn’t need to look more spineless than he already does.

To me it says he knows what he’s doing.

      • K.C. says:

Agreed. Getting dragged into that mess on Twitter would’ve been a stupid move, and wouldn’t prove much of anything other than he’s thinking with something other than his brain. And besides, what could he have said in 140 characters? She messed up. People mess up all the time and their partners still love them, but they don’t need to defend their honor on Twitter over it. That would just be overthinking it. Quietly hand-holding is the smartest move all around.

      • Bonzo says:

Tom’s more accustomed to let images do the talking now than his mouth. Last night’s public stroll was their way of telling everyone that things are fine, which by-the-way, is what Taylor does even when things aren’t going so well. Quotes & snaps of Tayvin a couple of weeks before the breakup announcement gave the impression things were fine even though she’d flirted up a storm with Tom at the Met Gala and apparently was staying in touch with him long distance.

Quotes and pictures are meant to support the narrative they want to put out there.

      • Noname says:

I agree, I think it is because of his influence she has restrained herself as much as she has. He has told her (as anyone partner would) ignore everything, be quiet, stay hidden and this will blow over. I can see him telling her that someone else will take over the news cycle soon enough.

    • jammypants says:

There was also the story about breast augmentation, then bam, next day denial.

  48. koko says:

I’ve gone back and read the past few post and I see a lot of “engagement” talk. Just curious, how many of you think they will get engaged? married?

    • Bonzo says:

Engaged by the Emmys. Married by March.

    • Browniecakes says:

Put me down for ‘no’. Not so much for Swiftgate. Someone else will steal the gossip headlines soon enough. Because he will be tired of being known first as Taylor’s whatever, because of their different edu levels, ages, countries/backgrounds. Also TnT started off too hot, too public. I don’t think she was over Calvin and put it in Calvin’s face. And I don’t think she has the maturity for a successful marriage yet, but her friends getting married may push her intothinking it is time.

      • jammypants says:

Did she finish high school? I only know her popstar image and very little about her actual life.

      • LittlestRoman says:

Wikipedia says she was home-schooled for her junior and senior years through a Nashville-area Christian school. Google seems to believe that she received a diploma.

I would pay good money to listen to him attempt a deep conversation with her. One that doesn’t involve cats or baking or supermodels.

    • K.C. says:

I’m saying engaged by March, married by the end of 2017. The mutual professional benefits of this relationship aside, I think they’re real, and I think they’ll last. If they can make it past this crazy summer, they’re golden.

A few scenarios I can picture:

      – Tom acting like an embarrassing dork being congratulated on his engagement while doing press for Kong, trying to act like he doesn’t want to talk about it (but of course he does because he loves attention and he’s marrying Taylor Swift which gets THE MOST attention).

      – Taylor accepting an award for her next album, thanking the fiancé/hubby for being the only person who supported her when the whole world was against her (you just KNOW she’ll use that line at some point, she can’t help herself).

    • zinjojo says:

      – Very public showing at the Emmy’s together
      – Engaged around the Holidays (Swiftmas, y’all)
      – Big show of their “happiness” at the Kong premier
      – Married next summer

Wildcard timing: when is Taylor’s next album being released? While she’s previously been on an every-two-years schedule, I don’t know if she’s releasing one this year. But it would work if she releases one fall 2017 and they get married a few months before that. She’ll totally milk it for her album release and subsequent tour.

      • Bonzo says:

Well, she won’t be releasing a full album this fall, I can assure you. If I had to guess, it would be next summer/fall when the next one comes out.

      • zinjojo says:

I agree, don’t think it will be this year. So, sticking with my timeline, she also releases a single around the time of their wedding, a la John Legend, and that sets up for the album release cuz this will be leveraged for all its worth. Unless she has a serious change of image and strategy after going down in flames this week.

      • Lilacflowers says:

She has to record an album before she releases one and she was supposedly taking this year off if Eppie Calvin can be believed

      • K.C. says:

If she were releasing an album in the next couple months, wouldn’t we have heard something about it by now? I don’t know how she unrolls album releases, but I don’t think she’d necessarily pull a Beyonce and release one without notice. Girl loves hype.

      • bonzo says:

I worked for a relatively small record label in Nashville years ago and I can tell you that it takes months to write, record, mix, master and drop an album. For someone at Taylor’s level, it’s even longer than the artists we worked with. Lots of hands in the kitchen and a lot more riding on the success of the album, so rushing something to market is foolhardy.

    • Dara says:

Dear Lord, I honestly don’t know any more. A few weeks ago I would have said it would be over by summer’s end, now it pains me to say it but I think I can actually see them walking down the aisle. I’m honestly glad the last few weeks have killed my Hiddleston crush deader than dead, or I might actually give a crap and be horrified at the very idea. Now I’m just in it for the spectacle. I’m viewing both of them as not much more than gossip-fodder at this point.

      • jammypants says:

They’ve dated for a month and E! loves to make crap up, no sweat. Too soon to tell.

    • what's inside says:

Definitely. Being that Taylor is a girlie girl – engaged by Christmas or Valentine’s with a June wedding. Because traditional girls that is how it is done.

  49. shelly says:

I concur with Bonzo. I really genuinely believe they are in it for real.
It may be mutually beneficial but that doesn’t mean its not real, just look at the Beckhams, people never gave them a chance at first but they had the last laugh.

    • bankonit says:

He’d have to be straight for it to work.

      Sorry?

      • popup says:

Maybe he goes both ways. He was with Brienne of Tarth/Gwendoline Christie for a little while, which is always a mind-bending fact to remember. She gives me big freak signals.

    • BluBare-E says:

I don’t think it’s a “real” relationship, in the sense of Love or even meaningful compatibility. But it is real as in a relationship of convenience as well as mutual benefit.
I said it down thread too. He’s got nothing else going on in his love life right now. Because of his career he hasn’t had a full-on, “real” relationship for almost 5 yrs, since Susannah. He works and travels all the time. Aside from the PR value, I’m sure he’s quite lonely when he goes home to his hotel room every night. I think Tom would do it just to have a warm body there to talk to every night for a change. Maybe for him this has a lot of other appealing benefits like someone that will travel with him and keep him company while he’s away from UK trying to carve out a HW career.
With this in mind, mistake or not, Tom always makes the best out of any situation and tries to be happy and have a good time in life.

So a globally famous, long legged, 26 yr old arranges for you to be her rebound boyfriend that travels and keep you company 24/7 when you haven’t had an outed relationship for almost 5 yrs. , and it will up his profile. What’s there to say no to, especially in his line of work?

  50. Justjj says:

    They’re so gonna break up.

    • LadyLoo says:

Well, yes, it’s Taylor Swift. She can’t have a happy-ever-after ending. The songs would dry up as she wouldn’t be able to low-down shade anyone anymore.

  51. KatM says:

Tom probably hitched a ride on the back of her broom. Just the sight of them together makes me laugh now. It is so contrived and ridiculous that I cannot react any other way. I am sure they are sleeping together and she has already written her imaginary married name six thousand times in her pink diary, but I still think that there is something very bizarre to this whole thing.

  52. Hmm says:

Eew, they are totally going for the “Prince Charming saves the damsel in distress” narrative, aren’t they. And in a few months, Hiddles will be talking in interviews about how Taylor is “misunderstood” and the pressures of being perfect in the public eye really got to her or some such BS. And she’ll be all like, I couldn’t have survived this without being able to cry on Tom’s manly biceps that he’s showing off in this issue of Vogue we’re both in together! True love!!$$

Christ. Just a couple weeks ago, I was like they’re crazy but they’re kinda cute. And now I can’t wait for this sham to end. Thought he was kinda fake and try hard, didn’t know he was this bad.

  53. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

“He has been supporting her and enjoying the time he’s having with her. They’re having a great time and are always laughing.”

This screams expiration date to me.

    • LadyLoo says:

It screams that an intern with a 4th grade education wrote it. But we can pray that it’s whispering expiration date as well!!

  54. Beach girl says:

I also agree with @Bonzo. Engaged right before the Emmy awards- walk the rc with a ring and all focus on Taylor. Wedding planning news and baby talk all thru the holidays. Marriage sometime around the release of Kong. This is how they conduct business whether they are real or not. It’s the only way she can fully redeem her rep, and he’s in it to win it.

    • LadyLoo says:

I reckon Level 10 fame-trollop TH would sooner die a thousand deaths than relinquish HIS RC appearance as an Emmy nominee to TS and her new ring. Giving over the focus on his film and his performance to TS/wedding talk? – a million deaths.

  55. LadyLoo says:

Sure he’s not annoyed. It’s not like he cares for his image or his career. No, no, no. He’s over the moon to be associated with a manipulative liar. He’s jumping for joy to have his name mentioned alongside that of the Kardashians.

He’s a fame-trollop, but even fame-trollops have limits when it comes to publicity.

I wonder what his convulsive sobbing sounds like when he tries to drown it out in a pillow.

  56. Fan says:

Of course what else is he going to say. Remember he is an Englishman, they are polite.

  57. RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

I have seen the LA pap photos, and i can tell from that one pic of his forehead that he is deliriously happy.

    • GROVEOK says:

Lol😁 I can’t tell, was the forehead sweating profusely?

      • twilly says:

He looks like hell. How can he man-up if she’s paying for everything. Two bags of takeaway doesn’t seem to even things up.

    • LadyLoo says:

Also, RWS, those are his “I’m so supportive” shoes. And he’s wearing his “I love you, my little lying fame-trollop” jacket. It should be clear to anyone with eyes that this is true love.

      • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

Exactly! “I <3 you, my little lying fame-trollop” should be emblazoned on a t-shirt for him. It would be perfect for SDCC.

    • popup says:

      LOL! Amazing photo analysis.

    • maire3 says:

Hah! I can tell by the way she’s smiling she’s totally totin’ his bollocks in that LV handbag.

ETA “Keep Calm & Carry Tom”

      • shelly says:

        ‘Keep calm and carry Tom’

        GENIUS !

P.S. Does anyone else see TH as a modern day David Niven looks wise.?

      • Bonzo says:

Oh, man I’m going to need a new keyboard after spitting out my drink, maire3!

We need Liberty to compose a lyric about TayTay’s Bag o’ Bollocks.

      • maire3 says:

Ya’ll just know Phase2 = “Keep Calm & Marry Tom”

@Shelly: Hmmmm dunno about Niven, can Tom grow a mustache?
@Bonzo: Apologies about your keyboard. Agreed, Lady Liberty needs to get out her quill & ink and start waxing lyrical.

    • mee says:

haha. me thinks that tom’s PR got some leverage to persuade taylor’s set up paps to shoot only the top real estate of his forehead playing the role of supportive boyfriend (who is secretly concerned, “am i w/a bunny boiler?”). full frontal shots were ok when the PR was over their lovebird silliness but now he wants to distance himself from the teenage drama and fast.

  58. jammypants says:

Lose-lose for Tom. If he stays with her, he’s “supporting” her coded racism and manipulative mean girl mechanisations. If he leaves, he was using her for PR, he’s not a gentleman, blah blah.

    • MI6 says:

      Don’t forget the breakup song(s)…

      • Bonzo says:

Calvin give her the breakup song material for the next album. Tom will be the happy-in-love, my knight-in-shining-armor material. Tom will have to wait for the album after next to be featured in her breakup single.

      • jammypants says:

“I Thought You Were Low Key”
        “Hand Me Your Quilted Jacket”
        “Speak Up for Me”

      • popup says:

“Give Up Those Grey Suede Shoes”
        “Endless Beaches”
“You’re My Captain, I’m Your Pirate Fairy”

    • popup says:

The only way for Tom is to win is to stay with her long enough to be featured in love songs on her next record-breaking, award-winning album. She just needs six months to get over this PR shitshow. Then, I dunno, he probably needs to go head first in a ditch and die a tragic death for all the haters to calm their knickers.

    • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

      “They Call Me MISTER Swift!”

      • JHK says:

LOL!!! Sidney Poitier would be horrified.

And Hiddiot (thanks whoever came up with that) isn’t “annoyed by the negative media”?

Riiight. And while we’re at it, let’s move all the planets in the solar system so they’re all lined up in a row.

      • Christin says:

Hiddiot, the new Eddiot. B-lister actor plus wealthy young singer, volume 2, the English edition.

  59. spittair says:

Has anyone seen the last bit of Twitter drama (if you could call it that) with Jordan Vogt Roberts? Apparently some fans have noted that TS “borrows” concepts from other artists in her music videos. He just liked a tweet of a side by side of TS music videos and a Korean artist named Taeyeon. I just find it a bit interesting.

    • jammypants says:

      He’s no Tay fan!

    • LadyLoo says:

Seen it and can’t tell if JVR’s being authentic or stupid. Maybe a mix of both.

    • pikawho? says:

JVR seems as much of a douchebag as Tom and Taylor.

I really want Skull Island to bomb but I don’t want my girl Brie Larsen to be blamed for it 🙁 I hope she gets that huge Marvel role soon. If it bombs I want Hiddleston to be the scapegoat, he can let go of this acting thing and become the full time house-husband he always wanted to be!

    • phaedra7 says:

Question: Kind of OT==> What is any one’s opinion(s) regarding Tom’s childhood picture (which he revealed not too long ago on a taping for UNICEF’s #EmergencyLessons)? Do you think he is considered cute/adorable as a kid? And if, these two get hitched and have offspring, do you think the children will be decent-looking? [If this debacle is NOT a fakelationship. Just a side-eye thought out of curosity.]

  60. LadyLoo says:

One thing in the new pics tells me she absolutely knows where the paps are, maybe even told them where to set up: THE PURSE. Remember how in all front-on shots, she had that ugly thing on her forearm so that it could be front and center. Now she’s suddenly carrying it down at her side, in plain few of people taking pics from the side. Got to keep that LV sponsorship for Selena!

Poor Tom lost out to the purse in the pap-ability stakes. “No, this is my good side AND I’m carrying the purse on this side. They’ll be able to see your forehead, stop complaining.” But at this point Tom’s forehead can be seen from space, so it’s a lose-lose for him.

  61. EnnuiAreTheKChampions says:

“He told her she is the kind of woman he wants to spend his life with.” — While I in no way believe this is a real quote considering the source, it’s fun to pretend it is, simply because it’s so carefully worded.

TS: Am I the woman you want to spend your life with???

TH: Well…erm…you’re the KIND of woman I want to spend my life with…uh…generally speaking…meaning a…erm…person-shaped mammal with eyelids and hair and ankles and stuff.

    • jammypants says:

“person-shaped mammal with eyelids and hair and ankles and stuff.”

      😂

    • Secret squirrel says:

OMG!! I am a person-shaped mammal with eyelids and hair and ankles and stuff! I could be his next true love!! I’ll have to muddy up my reputation a bit first though.

*throws candy wrapper onto the street and walks away before feeling guilty and returning to pick it up and put into a bin*

      I peaked too soon.

  62. Beach girl says:

Dlisted article says Tom is finished shooting for Thor3 and is in LA for work and Taylor. I know it’s idlisted, but does anyone else have additional info? I thought he would be there longer. I also read that he rented a large house in OZ for shooting but they seemed to only stay at the hotel. One more- does IW film in Georgia? Thanks!

    • pikawho? says:

If it only took two weeks for him to film all of his parts…maybe Marvel killed off Loki?! It would explain his sweaty desperation to be an A list celebrity all of a sudden, his meal ticket is over.

    • Dara says:

Last I heard IW production would be at Pinewood outside Atlanta. Various sites have said it will take almost a full year to film both parts. Nov-Sept is the date range I saw last but both date and location have shifted before so who knows really.

I’d be surprised if Tom had finished on Thor3 already, but I guess we’ll find out shortly.

      • jammypants says:

I’m sure we’ll find out whether he’s still filming or not once he does one of his Q&A panels or interview junkets.

      • Browniecakes says:

I doubt he’s done Dara. From the plot of Thor 3 sounds like he’ll have alot of scenes with Cate Blanchett

      • Bonzo says:

He can’t possibly be done after only two weeks. He’ll be going back.

      • lilacflowers says:

Several members of the Thor3 cast haven’t even made it to the set yet. Blanchette just arrived this week (complete with pap photos of her and her children arriving at the airport). Karl Urban just said he isn’t due until August and said he would be working with Tom. Idris isn’t there yet, nor is Jamie Alexander. I doubt he is finished. He may not have to rush back but I suspect he will be heading back.

  63. ygsf says:

“He has been supporting her and enjoying the time he’s having with her. They’re having a great time and are always laughing.” WHAT?? Who writes this stuff?! It’s comical and sounds so childish. And unless he’s made of Teflon there is no way he is laughing~ this is a new relationship, they are just getting to know one another and are both taking a hit to their careers. This stings and he must be re-evaluating what he stepped into, and if he’s smart he’ll realize the publicity will only get worse with time. My guess is an impending break-up, his people have GOT to be telling him to cool it, and fast.

  64. Georgia says:

I’ve just seen photos of T&T back in LA on Laineys. I have a question. Is Nike the official sponsor for the great Tiddlesbanging of 2016?

  65. Miss Jupitero says:

I love how she imitates his habits. Does anyone remember back when she would arrange to be popped on the gym in stilettos and haute couture?

    • jammypants says:

      good ole days!

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Apparently she never actually worked out. She would hang out the juice bar for a bit, put on makeup and then go out for a pap walk.

Hiddles expects his girlfriends to work out. Kizzy Olsen talk about how he got her running.

  66. MI6 says:

    Ursula hurled her phone 😅
Maybe she was laughing too hard with Prince Charming.
    From Lainey:

“They’re both heading to the gym but separately, and separate gyms. Word is they took a private plane together out of Australia yesterday. You’ll recall, Swoki arrived in Australia on commercial flights. And, at the time, it wasn’t a problem. Because they were touring the world like Will and Kate, pre-scandal.

Post-scandal, Taylor has a busted screen. And it’s easy to assume why. I mean, we’ll never know the real reason. But I’m sure it’s been memed already. The receipts killed her phone”

    • Browniecakes says:

I think Tom is more of a runner than a gym goer

    • Bonzo says:

Lainey’s articles on Swoki have been great reads.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

I was wondering about the broken screen on her phone.

    • K.C. says:

Someone on here wrote a hilarious story the other day about how she is probably screaming down the phone at publicists and throwing bonbons at the staff—so the the cracked phone screen matches up beautifully, lol.

Or she just dropped it one too many times, but that’s not exciting.

  67. Browniecakes says:

Imagine the logistics of getting her to SDCC. Will she and her guards come as the Wicked Witch and flying monkeys? Will he have to skip the Marvel and WB afterparties to go back to some overpriced suite and make her laugh? Now that would annoy Tom. I think he loves these conventions

    • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

Oooh, those are good questions. I’m going to assume that the suite being provided for him will be deemed, “too small” and she will rent the penthouse. Gotta have plenty of room for the entourage.

She might let him go to the after parties if she goes, too. Think of all the attention they can get, plus free food and drinks. And lots of hand holding.

  68. MI6 says:

Heath Films Ltd., Inc. July 1, 2016.
    Director: Thomas William Hiddleston
    the plot thickens…

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Yup. I think we know what the real attraction is for TommyAnnE. Make way for THIRST!

Fwiw, this is not the first company Hiddles has incorporated. He had another company which never did anything called No Filters Inc. There are a lot of reasons why people create these companies. Taxes, etc.

Can’t say I’m surprised. He needs put plan B in place.

      • Beach girl says:

        From a tumblr::

Haven’t gone through the others yet, but Heath films is shared with Appeal films, which looking at them seems focused on humanitarian efforts such as Syria and the Sudan. Appeal is co-directed by Iain Thompson and Jake Attwell according to their own documents on companieshouseDOTgovDOTuk

      • jammypants says:

gosh darn it it makes Tom look like a good guy, can’t have that 😉

      • Bonzo says:

I was a little confused by this as I thought Tom had a production company already, as Miss Jup mentioned above.

      • Maire3 says:

        Wow…you guys/CB’s are quick

        @Bonzo: The ‘other’ PlanB, lol

      • lilacflowers says:

A simple Google search of the other members of the partnership shows that they have a history of doing documentary films for UNICEF. Tom mentioned several times during interviews this past spring that he was working on a documentary of his 2015 UNICEF trip to South Sudan dealing with boy soldiers. So, it sounds like he is producing that film. Also, it would make sense for a number of reasons, including tax purposes, to have separate production companies for documentaries for charitable purposes and television/movies for entertainment purposes.

Sorry that I may be throwing a damper on conspiracy theories.

      • jammypants says:

@Lilac, I’m so curious about this project. It’s been hinted at for over a year now.

      • bonzo says:

I can have more than one Plan B, Lilac! The one involving Unicef, y’know… *wink*

      • Gingerly says:

        @ Lilac, jammypants, it’s a looong wait, isn’t it.

      • Sophie says:

Lilac, I just love you. Always the voice of reason. 🙂

      • lilacflowers says:

UNICEF projects get released when UNICEF decides to release them and usually as part of a bigger initiative.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

It is really common for people in the entertainment industry to have or be a part of multiple production companies. It is also common for people to incorporate just for tax reasons, or to invest. Then you have people who use companies in order to offshore their money, or celebrities who buy properties under a company name for privacy etc.

    • MI6 says:

I am gratified to hear this may be for a good cause. If Swift is financing this in any way (the incproportion date is interesting, to say the least), I would much rather hear about their altruism than this endless tour of contrived Luv.
And they could both use the good PR.

      • lilacflowers says:

I doubt very much that she would finance anything without her name on it. There are tax issues and foreign investment issues at play. And the names on the corporation filing are all identifiable people, no possible pseudonyms.

      • MI6 says:

@Lilac: so Nils Sjoberg won’t be making a reappearance then 😅😅
Hey listen, I’m all for it if some good comes out of this. And I really don’t want to believe it’s a contract. I’d rather he be the emotional potatohead I’ve long suspected he is. Then he can at least grow out of it.
Are you in corporate or litigation?

      • lilacflowers says:

No, Nils will miss out on getting credit for this film.

I think he’s infatuated. That can happen at any age. He might need the Black Widow to re-calibrate his brain by smacking his head against a pipe. I hope he influences her to be a better person.

Litigation but representing large employers in labor and discrimination cases. Lots of middle age white guys seem to think other middle aged white guys are discriminating against them. Also, lots of people do really stupid stuff at work. Like it is not gender discrimination against a woman when an employer suspends a woman supervisor because she sexually assaulted a male employee and it was caught on video. I have done regulatory work (love because it can make the world a better, safer, more equitable place) and corporate (hate – boring and soul-killing)

      • MI6 says:

@Lilac: Ah, I knew it 😉you make a very persuasive and reasoned argument.
Agree that TH is infatuated- with the fame and the attention and the private planes…can’t possibly be the girl.
I volunteer as tribute for the recalibrating smack upside the head if the Widow is not available.

      • Browniecakes says:

The date in the docs is July 1 which fits with the couple days he was in London alone before the Taymerica party.

  69. Beach girl says:

New pics of Tom arriving at his agents office driving himself; not happy seeing pap ( what did he expect?). Also a flurry of tweets promoting High Rise DVD and Kong. Some of the comments are cringe worthy. Fortunately he doesn’t see those.

  70. Beach girl says:

Yes No Filter is the orgional production co. It has a focus on arty, theartical productions. Heath was formed July1, 2016.
On another note no tweets re the 12 nom for TNM. No thanks for the nominations.

    • bonzo says:

Speaking of tweets… he’s been on a roll tonight. Sent out several including the customary humble brag that he posts each time he hits another million followers. 🙂

      • Beach girl says:

        “Thank you Taylor”.

      • bonzo says:

I saw a few responses to the effect of “Thank Taylor for those followers”. Ha.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Curiously, he did not gain that much after Taylor. When those photos broke out I checked and he had 2,995,000 followers. He was already close to 3 million. I don’t think he is sweeping up fans.

Also according to an app that detects fake Twitter followers, Hiddles followers are 1/3 fake accounts; Tay Tay is 2/3 fake accounts.

    • Gingerly says:

As he already gave several interviews a week ago when he was nominated, twitting would be redundant. If he did, some would stll laugh at his pathetic effort to emphasize his nomination when other things got messy.

  71. spidey says:

Funny isn’t it? Tom gets called out for humble bragging having reached 3m followers on twitter, then gets called out for not acknowledging the Emmy nomination.

    • lilacflowers says:

Come have a beverage with me, Spidey.

      • spidey says:

Haha, gin and tonic, with ice and a slice of cucumber? And we can sit on your veranda discussing how the world has gone to hell in a handcart! 🙂

    • Bonzo says:

I prefer he not brag about either. He’s already waited up until 4am to acknowledge the Emmy nod and make his Taylor statement. No need to do it again on Twitter.

      • Beach girl says:

@spidey @bonzo. I forgot about the first tweet he sent thanking everyone for TNM Emmy nom. It was late last night when I sent that out– sorry!

      • spidey says:

Is that 4 am UK time, which would be about 8pm LA time?

  72. spidey says:

Tom tweeted “SDCC 2016 Skull Island here we go” To which someone has replied “Does that guy’s wife still love you?” 😆

    • Lilacflowers says:

I hope he sees that because he almost burst out laughing when that was shouted during his Loki performance, although he probably doesn’t read the responses.

I just showed my 87 year old movie buff great aunt the poster. She wants it to open now! Kong has his own cult following

  73. MI6 says:

This is the happiest Tom’s looked recently in the pics with Brie Larson. Too bad she’s engaged.
    …oh wait

    • spidey says:

      Behave yourself! 🙂

    • Browniecakes says:

He looks great at SDCC. Did you see his arms and chest in what I think may be a NEW shirt? Must have busted like the Hulk with those guns out of his old shirts. whew!

      • MI6 says:

        Watched part of it. #gunsout
He seems a bit…edgy. not relaxed and friendly as he’s been in the past. Like if you went up behind him and said “Boo!” he’d hit the ceiling. Funny, though. And the panel was much shorter than previous NHQ.
Luke likely (and wisely!) has him on a short leash.

      • lilacflowers says:

I think we saw that shirt at some point during the ISTL/High-Rise/TNM never-ending tour.

      • jammypants says:

It was short because the Jai Courtney one before went over scheduled time.

    • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

Hahahaha!!! Is Jessica Chastain engaged? I would totally ship that.

  74. lilacflowers says:

Nerd HQ. Zach and Tom talk about clothes.

  75. lilacflowers says:

Will whatever has to happen so he can reveal what play he is doing and when he is doing it please happen soon? The suspense is killing me.

  76. Beach girl says:

Is Luke there? I thought his US pr firm took over when he’s in the states. Wasn’t he also in OZ last week?

  77. Bee says:

Any trailer is going to seem epic with a Samuel L Jackson voiceover. Even dirty, Tom Hiddleston looks like a sugary under-fed Disney Prince ie. totally out of place.

    • bonzo says:

Yeah, I not sold on Tom as The Action Hero either but the fact the SLJ & Goodman are in it makes me interested. It was like watching Apocalypse Kong. SLJ doing the speaking was a good choice, tho’ it was odd since Tom is supposed to be the lead as well as leader of the group that goes to the island, I thought. Did they want to highlight SLJ since he’s the most recognizable of the cast?

Curious to see how the non-Hiddleston Kong fans respond to the film.

ETA: not gonna lie, the shady tweet from Kyle Buchanan produced an involuntary snort.

    • spidey says:

You haven’t seen him in Coriolanus have you?

  78. Abby_J says:

The Kong Trailer looks good. John Goodman looks AMAZING.

I don’t think the trailer makes Hiddles look like the ‘Star.; Is he supposed to be, or is this more of an ensemble? Looks like a Sam Jackson movie, to be honest, but then again, EVERY movie he is in looks like a Sam Jackson movie. 🙂

as someone who is not at all in tune with pop culture, but loved the graciousness and eloquence of tom, i am struck by two things. the ts publicity team is trying to brand kanye as a stalker and i find it revolting on a racial level. she befriended him four years ago- yes, showbiz friends- but friends nonetheless. she went to dinner with, discussed a colab, presented an award to him, etc…now to make it seem like he accosted her twice is very wrong to me. if tom doesn’t take time to really know her for a year, see how life is like when they are both working, and question her true value system- it will be disheartening. i fine her capacity to let kanye skewer publicly to be revolting and i am less than fond of his antics.

  81. Hudson Girl says:

The vitriol and emotion in a lot of these comments is exhausting. Why do people care so much about this story?!
Argh, it bugs me when I don’t understand the appeal of something so obviously large scale.

    • Sue says:

There is one word in German “Schadenfreude”. I don’t want to offend anyone on this forum, this is my personal observation and opion: people like to watch those rich and famouse celebrities to struggle as normal human beings, because they are just people after all, with the same insecurities, fears, dreams etc. as the rest of us. And most of all this is good distruction from the life reality. Some are liking this just for fun, some project theirselfs into the those stars somehow etc., this could and surely is interesting stuff for psychological research.
In this case the pairing is obviously unexpected – mostly welcomed by Swifties and questioned by Hiddlestoners. We do think we know who they are based on their public personas, but we are wrong. Only they know where the truth lies.
For me personally Tom became an ‘idol’ based on his approach to life and living, as a person. Of course I wish him well,I wish him love but tbh I’m still struggling to accept this move in his life and of course because my expactations towards him were different and misrepresented.
Uff,sorry for this unwanted report 😉

      • BluBare-E says:

“. .Tom became an ‘idol’ based on his approach to life and living, as a person.”

Same for me as well as really liking his work. I guess I’ve accepted this “unexpected pairing” for the sake of raising his mainstream recognition. There’s a lot riding on upcoming films, and you only get so many shots at breaking into this level of US mainstream market.

Plus I think that Tom didn’t have anything better going on for him personally/romantically. He’s spent so much time traveling and working these last 5 yrs and has admitted that it’s not allowed him to pursue a serious relationship, “be a good boyfriend” as he put it. So as usual Tom does what needs to be done for his film’s success and his career and makes the best out of the situation and tries to be happy and have a good time.
