Kristen Bell was one of the first arrivals at the Globes in a Jenny Packham black metallic gown with an open front and a loose floor length skirt. A lot of people loved this but I thought it was just ok. I think I just dislike those very open front dresses, that’s not my favorite look. It’s very glamorous overall though her makeup is kind of try hard. She and her husband, Dax Shepard, are working on the new CHiPs remake, which Dax told Ryan Seacrest would be a “hard R” rating, which means raunchy I guess. It’s not the worst idea but it seems like all Hollywood churns out lately are remakes. Some work though and end up being fun franchises, like 22 Jump Street.
Also in Packham we have Millie Bobby Brown looking both cute and sophisticated in an off the shoulder cap sleeve silver dress with small hanging pieces. I’m really loving Millie’s fashion this awards season. She’s getting it right so often. Giuliana called her a fashionista during their red carpet interview and she was so right.
I didn’t even see Gillian Anderson on the carpet last night. This white Packham dress with a tulle overlay and jeweled neckline is just ok though. She looks so polished with her updo, understated makeup and dress. As a whole this look is impressive.

Gillian just gets better with age. I love her and this dress so much. I do miss her red hair though. I am a sucker for a red head.
Kristen is flat enough on top to make it work without looking vulgar and tacky. She has really been stepping up her fashion game lately. Good for her.
I don’t think being flat on top is necessary to make these dresses work – I mean, look at Kiki Dunst’s Masterclass in Cleavage at the GGs just last year!
It depends on the woman, really.
LOVE Kristen Bell, she made me laugh with her photos on instagram pre golden globes. I’ll never get over Veronica Mars and I think her and Dex and cute.
I’ve liked her ever since she was in this crappy movie called “Pulse” eons ago.
I think Kristen and Mandy Moore were the best plunging V necks of the Golden Globes!
I agreed it worked on both women but I thought Kristen looked great
I didn’t like the amount of plunge on either, or on Jessica Biel. Just no. Millie looked terrific.
Kristen was my worst dressed of the night. I’ve always found her and her style very bland. She’s so pale and the dress was so low cut. I know she was trying to be sexy but it didn’t work.
I’m not sure what you do with your boobs in those dresses. Tape? That’s all I can think about when I see them.
REALLY? This is worse than what they put Sophie Turner in? Or Michelle Williams? Or Drew Barrymore? I think Kristen looked pretty good, honestly. And I’m not sure what’s wrong with looking pale? I much prefer it to the people who get orange spray tans.
Michelle Williams looked amazing. Drew looked good too.
I suppose we’ll have to disagree together, Erinn… Kristen’s dress isn’t exactly wildly exciting, but it’s a retro-ish classic, and it fits well.
God, if I am given no other gifts, let me have Gillian Anderson’s amazing skill at aging.
I think Kirsten’s dress is passable because it’s not revealing anywhere but the chest. This is one of those outfits that only a woman with small breasts can really pull off at an event like this. On a bustier woman, it might be too much for a red carpet.
That’s what I thought too, until I saw Kirsten Dunst on this very red carpet last year in plunging black velvet Valentino which also left her arms and back bare. And she is far from small-breasted.
I think Dunst’s worked because of the draping. This structured look is really hard to pull off on larger breasts even in terms of the engineering – anytime I’ve tried something like this cut on my DDs, it’s squash city.
@Veronica – true. That dress was a fantastic piece of engineering, given how revealing it was and the fact that it still managed to showcase Kiki’s rack without looking OTT (also the heavy, plush fabric probably helped with the overall effect)
It’s this line of reasoning that is going to make Ariel Winter come out in strategically sprayed silly string.
I don’t like the trope that big boobs are vulgar are need to be hidden otherwise ppl clutch their pearls and scream déclassé.
I have big boobs, and I don’t think there’s anything vulgar about them. I do think, however, that they tend to steal the spotlight when you wear a plunging cut, and on a night where you aren’t there to win an award, it can border into “Look at me!” territory when other people are meant to have their moment. This is still pushing it, but not as significantly as it might be if she was bustier.
I usually hate necklines this low, but she looked great.
I don’t know exactly why, and it’s horrible to say about a 13y old, but there’s something about MBB that really bugs me. She did look lovely.
I get the same feeling. She’s a good little actress. But she’s such an cliquey type of little girl. She’s so over the top, and feeling ALL the things ALL the time, and acts like she’s so mature for her age. I loved her in stranger things, but I cringe over most of her interviews. She might grow out of it though – she IS really young, and I’m sure if I had the opportunities that she does at that age, I would be obnoxious some of the time too.
It’s her face in there photos. It’s not a real smile, and on adults that means Danger, because you can’t trust them, plus she’s a kid and interviews are ugh.
That’s why she’s rubbing me wrong right now. It’s not very fair of me because it sounds like her family is stressful and fame focussed.
She attends or parties than some grown actors.
I fell in love with Gillian because of The Fall. She is aging so well. I found her very sexy and beautiful on The Fall, but this look is everything but that. The white washes her out, the hair should be loose and the dress something with a more masculine cut. She looks amazing in suits. Soo dissapointed 🙁
She really was wonderful in The Fall 🙂
I normally don’t like open dresses like that either, but on Kristen it really works.
Nice dress for MBB, and Gillian looks amazing.
Jenny Packham does not belong in the big league of designers. Her dresses are pretty but they’re never spectacular.
For Kristen Bell – I can’t decide if it is the cut/color of the gown or her haircut that makes her look 20 years older than she is.
It is really refreshing to see a teen dress like a teen and not a twenty something.
Gillian looks great, but I’m guessing the monochromatic look in this awards season-I feel like I saw a lot of black and white and very little color.
It’s the makeup, IMO. It’s making her eyes look more hooded and aged than they really are.
I really like Kristen’s dress, hair, & makeup but her accessories aren’t doing it for me. I would have loved a long medallion necklace & stud earrings & no bracelets. That dress looks designed to showcase a necklace.
Anderson has too much powder on her face but otherwise she looks fantastic.
Little boobs can get away with so much. I am so jealous.
kristen’s dress is AMAZING! She looks so sexy. Millie’s dress was very age appropriate.
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Kristen bell looks HOT!! Love the dress, the hair, the make-up. Stunning.
“I’m really loving Millie’s fashion this awards season. She’s getting it right so often.”
She’s 12. Could we just lay off with the “getting it right” or “not right” altogether at her age? You know, just acknowledge that she’s lovely and be done with the (cele)bitching?
I love that it feels like a new take on a women’s tuxedo. Not a fan of the hair, but the gown is an A
LOVE Kristen’s dress!!! She has gotten better with a few years on her, and wears the dress as opposed to the dress wearing HER.
Well, can’t pick apart any of the dresses really. I do think Gillian’s looks nicer than Celebitchy does though.
I love all the dresses, but I definitely feel that Millie’s dress is way, way, way too old for her. But I guess when yo are twelve, you always want to look older. I think Gillian looks jaw dropping gorgeous!!!!
