Back in the day, I was so hot for Antonio Banderas. Desperado-era Banderas is really my jam – by the time The Mask of Zorro came around and everyone was bandwagoning their crushes on him, I was like “eh, over it!” But Desperado/Mambo Kings era? LOVE IT. And as such, I’ve always had such a deep affection for Antonio. He seems like a really nice, lovely man. But would I still hit it? Eh.
These are photos of Antonio from the Madrid photocall for National Geographic’s Genius: Picasso anthology series. NatGeo did Einstein, and now the new season is about Picasso, with Banderas playing Picasso. At this photocall, Antonio debuted his newly shaved dome. Are you feeling this? I am not. CB and I are always debating men and hair. CB enjoys a bald/shaved dome with men whereas I’m in the “no thanks” column most of the time. What can I say, I like my men furry. Antonio is 57 years old now and this lack of hair makes him look his age. Which is refreshing in one sense and depressing in another sense, considering how beautiful he was circa Desperado. And is it just me or does he look like he’s morphing into someone else entirely? Like… a little bit of Anthony Hopkins, a little bit of Bruce Willis.
The lack of eyebrows is really not helping either.

Maybe the eyebrows fell out? My poor mom has that problem – she’s had thick brows all her life and then suddenly, bam, nothing. She has them tattooed on now

He looks kinda like me since I finished chemo. Not fun. Losing the hair is a humbling experience, but when I lost my brows and lashes, I wept. It makes you look ill, no matter whether you are or not. He is a very handsome man- but looks terrible. Seriously wondering what happened to his brows. I can handle bald but the brow thing- what? Why?

Isn’t the point to look like Picasso? Because he definitely looks like him! Let’s hope he grows his hair back ASAP post-promotion.
I assume it’s for work reasons and not for aesthetics. He looks a lot more like Picasso shaved like that, and I think it speaks highly of him that he’s willing to shed the latin lover look for a job that will mean something in his not so stellar career lately.

Picasso has such a piercing look and Banderas is like a sweet puppy.
Most people don’t even look human without hair and especially eyebrows. You know those photoshopped images of beautiful people where they remove JUST the eyebrows and they look crazy? I think the fact that Antonio still looks more or less human means that he will be back to his handsome self once the hair comes back.

Yuck. I assume this was for a role. For me, Banderas is like Jude Law in that he was smokin’ hot for about 5 minutes and then declined pretty rapidly.

OMG, I watched Desperado about 1,000 times. That may be where my love of him & Salma stems from. So friggin hot. Now? Gah! Yikes, just no.
