People Magazine has some insider quotes about how great Ben Affleck’s and Lindsay Shookus’s relationship is, which is kind of belied by some of the details they provide. Lindsay Shookus is in LA for the summer while SNL is on hiatus. These two are “doing normal couple things” and “spending more time together” but not all their time. Lindsay has her own place in LA despite the fact that Ben Affleck recently moved into a seven bedroom nine bath estate. There are two bathrooms and two walk in closets off the master bedroom, but I guess Lindsay’s stuff isn’t in either of them. She hasn’t met his kids yet either.
Buffalo native Shookus is staying at Affleck’s $19 million mansion on and off, as well as her own place in L.A. for the summer. She maintains a residence in New York City and will have to be on the East Coast more once the new season of SNL begins filming in the fall.
For now, she and the actor are “spending more time together while they both have downtime from work,” an Affleck pal says. “They’re enjoying doing normal couple things and exploring L.A. together.”
The insider adds that Affleck is also committed to making the most of family time with his kids — daughters Violet, 12, and Seraphina, 9, and son Samuel, 6 — with estranged wife Jennifer Garner, 46, who have not yet been introduced to Shookus.
“Ben loves spending time with the kids,” the Affleck pal continues. “They each have activities they like doing together.”
What’s going on with these quotes? They sound passive aggressive, right? “Lindsay has her own place in LA but still works in NY, she hasn’t met his kids yet.” So they’re either from Affleck setting expectations low or someone else letting us know where Lindsay stands. You know what I’m saying.
Meanwhile Affleck is selling his massive 87-acre estate on a private island in Georgia. It has a four bedroom four and a half bath home as well as a “guest cottage” which is basically another house set up to entertain visitors. It’s listed for $8.9 million. I would say that maybe Affleck is cash poor, which is always possible given his gambling habits and expensive taste, but we haven’t heard that about him. He has owned a few Bentleys, he bought a new one last year, and he just bought that mansion down the block from his estranged wife for about $20 million. Looking at photos of the house brings it home that Lindsay has her own place in LA too. Affleck has a mansion with seven bedrooms and needs his space. Maybe she does too though and that’s why they work.

That is one of those rumors that doesn’t seem to go away. I have no idea if it is true but it is persistent.
An interesting thing in this story is the huge change in Ben Affleck’s appearance. In 2015 photos he was a handsome man.Now he looks like a different not healthy man.
Their body shapes look pretty normal to me but her personal stye is tragic. So unflattering and blah.
Not to be harsh, but I think calling someone’s body “tragic” is really, really awful. It isn’t as if she is trying to sell a workout video or posting pics of her bod on instagram. I was going to point out that she appears to be healthy, but ultimately, it shouldn’t be necessary to point that out. Attacking people’s bodies is just not kind.

Wow, that’s pretty harsh. I don’t care about either one of them, but their bodies look just fine. I mean, damn, what do you look like? Honestly, they look like normal people. If that’s what you consider tragic, I worry for you.

Ummm not there more because she has a child based in New York? Huh? I agree this is a weirdly worded story.
I get the not wanting to rush kids to meet the new girlfriend but…she’s not the new girlfriend. She’s been around for years now and as bitter as Garner has a right to be, the new chick isn’t going anywhere. At some point they have to start easing the kids into this. Sucks. But when you have three children with a narcissistic, cheating addict, a lot of things are going to suck.
The question I’d like answered is — Where is the ex-nanny Christine? She was doing those pap strolls a couple of summers ago, then vanished.
If I were Lindsay, I’d be curious about that, too.

The check from the Garner-Affleck Trust cleared and she’s off living her best life somewhere. Who cares? Not Jen, not Lindsay, not Ben. lol
The assumption was a payoff, yet blinds (I know) keep hinting that she may still be in the picture. That scenario wouldn’t surprise me, either.

Agree! Not a Ben fan, BUT I hardly recognize him sans Jen. He always looked miserable with her (not a fan of her, either, and get huge “controlling” vibes from her). He looks like he’s healthy, and hopefully losing his drinking and gambling habits behind for his sake and also the childrens’. As for Lindsay, you lose them how you got them Sorry, not sorry.
Yes! noone is perfect. but he seems genuinely happy. Not a fan of either and I dont buy a lot of the Jen Garner stuff. She admitted her eyes were wide open and I have a feeling she clung on too long. He never smiled like his. Maybe he is just better suited to Lindsay which is nothing against either women.
I think Ben and Jen were pretty happy together in the beginning. I don’t think people start a family with three kids with spouses they’re never happy with!

Affleck had that Georgia house because one of his great-great-grandfathers was a plantation and slave owner. The house has been passed down through his family for generations.
Henry Louis Gates found out this info via researching Ben’s heritage for find your roots for pbs and Affleck was in disbelief he had benefited so clearly from slavery.
Affleck then asked Gates to delete that portion of the interview.
Ben didn’t want people to know his forefathers were among the richest and most elite in the US, that they owned a massive number of slaves and that his family benefits to this day via that house.
Maybe Lindsay wants the world to know she isn’t chasing him down or giving up her life for him. Maybe the reality of him is sinking in.
I think that’s very likely.
It could also be part of HER divorce, that she doesn’t bring her child into a live-in situation with Batfleck at this point.
I have a feeling some of the “messaging” is being dictated by the fact that Affleck/Garner still aren’t divorced, and he is probably stepping very carefully when it comes to Lindsay – particularly when it comes to the public narrative around when/where she will spend her time while in LA, etc. – since they are likely still sorting out custody issues.

There were photos of her and her child in LA last week. Just because she’s not parading her kid on Instagram doesn’t mean she’s a bad mother. In fact, it probably makes a better mother that other’s who exploit their kids on social media for their career PR.

That’s kind of a rude assumption. My son used to spend summers with his dad and every other weekend as well. I’m guessing she has some sort of custody arrangement with her ex. The kid has TWO parents, it’s not like Lindsay is the sole parent. Why is it wrong for a mother to enjoy some time by herself when her child is well-cared for by the other parent? So sanctimommy.

Am I the only one who thinks they look alike? The chins and jawline are very similar.
They both remarkedly poor dressers. Ben Afflick looks worse than most non movie stars dads in the palisades. Really a tell that there are big problems given that an actors image is so important.
