Ariana Grande dyed her hair lavender – for her wedding?

For the soon-to-be-wed (?) Ariana Grande, it’s looking like the wedding ceremony may have something old, something new, something borrowed and something…lavender? The 25-year-old singer, who has had her share of interesting hair hues, has debuted her latest look, lavender locks, on Instagram.

The color, dubbed “lavender dreams” and applied by hairstylist Josh Liu, may have been inspired by Ariana’s paint bath in shades of purple that was featured in her “God is a Woman” video. She posted a pic of the new look on Instagram on Wednesday. She shared another pic, complete with (seemingly) mandatory animal filter on an Instagram story, stating the style was “jus [sic] for fun.”

Fans seemed to love the new look, and her biggest fan, fiancé Pete Davidson, shared his approval with a comment featuring five purple heart emojis. Pete also has a new ‘do, a bleach blonde crop he got for his role in the upcoming movie Big Time Adolescence. It’s a good thing it’s for a role, because the harsh shade really doesn’t suit him.

As for the couple’s big day, which might be August 4, 2018, the date commemorating Pete’s late father’s FDNY badge number, Pete might also be showing of some non-traditional style while walking down the aisle.

The comedian’s new BFF, Queer Eye’s Tan France, told Page Six that he’s helping Pete shop for the big day. Tan has already tackled Pete’s wardrobe issues, in a hilarious clip shared by SNL back in March (when Pete was dating Cazzie David). After upgrading his everyday style, Tan talked nuptial day duds, offering that, “I would like to see [Davidson] wear his version of swag. Probably not a tux! I don’t want to see him in a neutral, regular tux — he’s way too cool for that.” But is he too cool for a French tuck? That’s what I need to know.

Of the marriage, Tan added, “I really couldn’t be happier for those two; I love when friends get together and romance follows. And you know, when I got together with my partner [illustrator Rob France] we decided to get married after just a few dates — and we’ve been married for 10 years!”

As for Ariana’s hair, I don’t hate it. If I had been her age when these fun colors were popular, you can rest assured I’d be rocking some pastel locks. That being said, as a person who spends a LOT of time looking at Instagram posts and videos featuring drag queens, am I wrong in thinking this might be a wig? The IG pic makes it kind of look like one (check out the ends). In the past it was reported that Ariana had dreamed of having a “winter wonderland” wedding, and I don’t see lavender hair as fitting into this equation. Blue, sure, but not purple. But, since this whole relationship has been quite spontaneous, it wouldn’t completely surprise me if this was the color she’s chosen to get married in. Whatever looks they decide to sport on the big day, I’m sure they’ll look adorable (I’m in the camp that likes them together).

I really like the lavender. I thought there were so many cool lewks in her God is a woman video, especially when she’s in the water with the paint shaped like a v*gina (sorry for censoring, at work). Great song too. I feel like she’s really bringing it this era.

    • Char says:

It’s my favorite part in the video and she looks so good with this lavender hair! She’s young, she has the job where she can wears any hair color and the money to take care of it, go Ari!

  2. LA says:

I’m glad I’m not alone in this camp (among non-teens, I mean). They’ve known each other and been friendly for years. Sometimes, those relationships take a faster pace because the “getting to know you” part has already occurred.

    • hmm says:

I could understand this if it he weren’t a part of the equation. He has BPD, and this kind of over the top fast relationship (tattoos, engagement, etc), is textbook out of control/not sufficiently treated BPD to the point where it is scary. He looks, and seems, so unhealthy, and it just feels like she is getting drawn into the lovebombing and like this will massively backfire in ways she might never recover from.

I don’t say this to hate on BPD, I have my own struggles with depression and wouldn’t wish a disorder like BPD on my worst enemy- the people who have it have an unfair hand in life compared to most people. But watching this unfold is just deeply unsettling.

      • KarenG says:

I have BPD and behavior/decisions like this would raise a HUGE manic red flag to my friends/supporters. They would definitely be having a sit-down with me.

  3. Angie says:

She’s beautiful but always looks the same and so artificial to me . She’d be stunning with minimal makeup and without that awful ponytail.

    • smcollins says:

She really does need to retire that ponytail, or at the very least change up how she does it. There’s more than one way to wear a ponytail, you know?

  4. escondista says:

She looks cute. I’ll give her that.

  5. Clare says:

I think she’s really cute, but she needs to relax with playing up the little girl vibe. No one wants to see a 25 year old look like a child-bride. And yes I realise part of it is just how she looks – that’s fine, as I said, she’s very pretty – but she 100% plays it up with the hair, make up and poses.

    • Fifi says:

No it isn’t “Just how she looks”. Look at her old photos. She’s had an eyebrow lift, filler, implants etc to look like a teenager. It’s weird and gross.

  6. a reader says:

I absolutely LOVE the lavender! It looks gorgeous on her…. and I may be partial because I just colored half my hair a very similar shade with pink highlights. And I am rooting for these two. As someone mentioned upthread they’ve known each other for several years so…. while it looks fast to us it may be the perfect speed for them.

BTW Corey you don’t have to be young to rock a fun color…. I’m a middle aged white lady and I’ve run out of f*cks to give…. been coloring my hair since I was a teen and I love the current color trends. Age ain’t nothin’ but a number….

  7. MCV says:

She needs to lay off the tan, her motives for doing it are clear but it’s getting crazy, she looks like a woman of color when she’s in fact very pale :/

  8. Christina S. says:

Love the song and the video is awesome. I think the hair looks great. I wish I could pull something like that off!

  9. Happy21 says:

I feel alone in the world but I CANNOT STAND HER!
I can’t sound her voice, her music, her look, none of it. I couldn’t even tell you where this loathing comes from but it’s been there since Day 1.

  10. livealot says:

No idea she was 25. Thought she was like 19.

  11. Mox says:

I get Whitney Houston/Bobbi Brownvibes from them.

  12. CityGirl says:

If I could I would rock lavender or pink hair….unfortunately, I work in a very conservative industry and it would not fly – no matter how old or young…

  13. Beth says:

Cute. It looks a million times better than Kelly Osbornes lavender hair

  14. TaniaOG says:

I am just so disturbed at how she looks like a completely different person from when she was younger. The girl has had serious plastic surgery and basically pulled a Kylie. Completely unrecognizable from older photos.

This is not going to end well.
