Kim Kardashian & Kanye West ‘feel very proud about their marriage’

For some reason, I thought Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had been married for a lot longer than five years. But no – last Friday was their five-year wedding anniversary. To be fair, Kim got pregnant with North just a few months after she and Kanye started dating, and they waited another year after North’s birth in 2013 to actually have their chaotic wedding in Italy in 2014. That’s my explanation for why it feels like Kimye has been happening for a good decade. Anyway, a five-year anniversary is something to celebrate, especially in LA where many marriages don’t even last through baseball season. To celebrate their anniversary, Kanye did what any husband would do after just welcoming his fourth child a few weeks ago: he took his wife on a date-night to Las Vegas.

Time has nothing on Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West. The high-profile couple, who celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary on Friday, appear to be as strong as ever, a source tells PEOPLE.

“Kim and Kanye seem very happy. They feel very proud about their marriage,” the source says. “And they love being parents.”

To mark the special occasion, the Ye rapper, 41, whisked his bride away to Las Vegas for a special trip to see Céline Dion in concert. Kardashian, 38, appeared to have a blast, as she shared multiple clips from inside the concert of Dion’s performance, and sang along to her hit “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now.”

“Kim and Kanye both agreed that since they have a newborn, they didn’t want to make huge anniversary plans,” the source says of the trip. “Kanye surprised Kim with a trip to Las Vegas and it was perfect. They had a fun celebration and a short getaway.”

There was a story going around over the weekend about how Kim and Kanye spend $1 million on childcare a year, and honestly, that figure sounds too low. I’m not here for nanny-shaming or mom-shaming, but it never fails to bug me when parents of a newborn just jet off, out of town. Oh well – I hope the nannies got overtime. As for Kimye’s “very happy” marriage… they do seem okay these days. In late 2016, that was not the case. That was after Kim got robbed in Paris and Kanye had a nervous breakdown (or something, it’s still not entirely clear) and had to be hospitalized. That fall and winter, there were several People Magazine stories from Kim’s people about how Kim was meeting with divorce lawyers and really thinking about leaving him. I still believe that the compromise they worked out is that they’ll stay married and Kanye will do whatever he wants and Kim will do whatever she wants and they’ll just keep having babies. I do hope Bear/Psalm is the last one though.

Kim is a Democrat right? Or least not a Trump supporter. How can she stay married to him despite his awful words?

When my mom’s ex admitted he voted for the french extreme right, I was so pissed I went to my dad’s place during a week lol

    • runcmc says:

My mom is a Democrat and my dad is a trump-supporting Republican…they’ve been married for 37 years! They respect each others’ opinion and don’t usually talk politics. They have everything else in common.

Fun fact; we are black immigrants! How my dad supports trump is a mystery to the entire rest of the family.

I don’t know. I think if Kanye was Kim’s first husband, she would have divorced him by now. Of course after using him for his “in” with the fashion world. The fact he’s her third marriage probably makes her hesitate to divorce him. Also, Kim needs to stop with the body work. She’s made her mid-section so ridiculously small and made her hips so out of proportion she just looks like a cartoon. Also, with regards to nannies, I am sure they are ALWAYS around, even on holidays. I watched their show on Sunday and the kids are on the show A LOT more now. This episode was about North saying she wanted to ride in a Limo…so Kim called Khloe to arrange for it. Khloe shows up in a big black limo and North is not happy…she wanted a “white unicorn limo”. The kids are going to be raised not knowing a damn thing how the rest of the world lives lol.

@Me, I could never figure out why she married him. If you further elaborate on why she married him, I would love to hear your views as I have not been able to figure it out on my own.

Does Kayne really have that big of an “in” with the fashion world?

      • Anilehcim says:

He’s the biggest star to ever associate himself with her, and that is why she married him and chose to have children with him. Whether one loves or hates him, Kanye is an enormous star and his career is taken very seriously. The average person doesn’t remember who Reggie Bush is. Ray-J is a joke to anyone who remembers him at all. Kanye is a household name. Money and fame are everything to the Kardashian/Jenner family. Kim and her family would never be taken seriously if she hadn’t hitched her wagon to Kanye’s. It was only after their marriage that people began to stop treating them like a trashy joke. Suddenly they were completely accepted by people who had previously rolled their eyes at the mere mention of their names.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Anilehcim, Thanks for your post. I have never see Kanye’s fashion line in any store but then again, I am not his target customer.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I mean, I am probably too old to wear designs from his fashion line.

Yep. Before “cancel culture” had a name, Kim’s career prior/around the time of dating Kris Humphries was this: she had a blog, she had the “Kardashian Kollection” at Sears and a Super Bowl commercial for Skechers Shape-ups. She was very much a lowbrow (albeit very famous) star. When the Kris Humphries divorce happened she was dangerously close to being “cancelled.” Enter Kanye (the biggest name she ever went out with.) Kim gets on the cover of Vogue. Fashion houses start taking her seriously. She finally gets her first (begrudging) MET Gala invite as Kanye’s date. NO ONE took her seriously then. Fast forward a few years? She wouldn’t be caught dead in a Skechers commercial. That was allllll Kanye. Yes she’s a great business woman but she would have never broken C-list without him. The idea of Thierry Mugler making her a custom dress for ANYTHING would have been absolutely unfathomable in the early 2010s.

Kim’s clothes look so uncomfortable. I can’t imagine being sausaged in like that.

  4. minx says:

I doubt they see each other much.

  5. jen says:

She looks ridiculous. I think they are “proud” because their marriage is a total sham, and they think they have us all fooled with the photoshopped photos.

    *fixed

  7. Rice says:

So much money, so much fugly outfits.

  8. Tiff says:

I like Kim and Kanye. I like them separately and I like them together. Kim has amazing business acumen and Kanye is a gifted producer, songwriter, and artist. I think they make a good team. I also I think seeing Celine is a nice and appropriate 5 yr anniversary gift. I also don’t think it’s a big deal they have a new baby at home if they took a quick trip and had the support (nannies or family) to watch the kids while they were gone. It’s not like they were gone for a month and this is their 4th kid. They probably needed a night out of the house! Both of them get so much hate I thought I would post one nice thing before it became a hate for all.

    • Nev says:

      Word.
      Happy Anniversary!!!

    • Alyse says:

      Thirded

I like them as a couple
This seems like a legit/appriopriate 5y anni night out for rich people who can afford the jet/nannies

  9. Anilehcim says:

Theirs is no great romance. The secret to their marriage is that she’s his Barbie doll and he gave her the validation she’s been desperate for since day one.

It was only after her marriage to Kanye that Kim was acknowledged by Vogue, Anna Wintour, the fashion world, etc. Kanye’s association with their family is the reason that Kendall has a career as a top model. This is the only reason he’s her “true love.” No ballplayer would have ever gotten her to where she is today like Kanye has.

Off topic, and I hate to criticize anyone for seeking an education, but I’m really disgusted by the loophole California has with their bar exam. I can’t be convinced that Kim Kardashian is so brilliant that she can learn simply by shadowing lawyers and studying on her own time, what others have to dedicate years of their lives to. On one hand, good for Kim for trying to do better. On the other hand, if she really wanted it, why not go to law school instead of buying your ability to practice? Maybe an unfair criticism, but I’ll never be convinced that she didn’t get special privileges and buy her way in if she actually passes the bar exam… especially if it happens on her first try.

    • Tiff says:

As someone who went to law school, an apprenticeship is probably more helpful/effective in the actual practice of law. I also think she has a great personality for it and if she’s serious about practicing she’d be good at it. She’s personable – we rarely hear anything but nice things about her personality from those who have met her – she’s savvy, and she’s obviously focused and will put in the hard work (look at her empire-her sisters may be lazy famous but Kim puts in the work)

The most overrated 21st century couple. In the 21st century some of the public do Not care how she and that family got their fame. Question was it a Video?

  11. Kathryn says:

I had a nanny growing up because my parents owned and operated a massive fine dining group and worked extremely non-traditional hours and I totally understand why people have them. But it kind of amazes me that the ultra-wealthy like Kim who has a lot of free time/isn’t required to work 9-5 whatever chooses to have teams of nannies. I always think of the story how when North was a baby they sent her on a transatlantic flight with just a nanny, basically shipping her back to LA from Paris like ??????
