Nicole Kidman ‘is about to blanket the media,’ she’s not hiding during her divorce

Nicole Kidman made global headlines earlier this week when she turned up at the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week. She’s running it back – she made similar moves following her divorce from Tom Cruise. I still remember the moment when a freshly-divorced Nicole stepped out at the Moulin Rouge premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in that YSL gown (designed by Tom Ford). It was a huge moment, a huge moment for fashion, a huge moment for divorced women. She continued to be so visible and have huge fashion moments in the wake of that divorce. The stakes feel a lot lower now that Nicole is divorcing Keith Urban, but she’s running the same play. She’s not going away, she’s not going to hide. She’s planning to be really visible in the coming months:

Forget hiding away during a divorce, hunkering down and circling the wagons — Nicole Kidman is about to be everywhere. Just days after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, her husband of 19 years, Kidman and her daughters Faith and Sunday showed up to the Chanel fashion show in Paris. And the photographers will have to chug some Red Bull to keep up with the flame-haired actress as she is about to hit red carpets and our screens with a vengeance.

Kidman has three major movies and TV shows in post-production at the moment: “Practical Magic 2,” “Scarpetta” and “Margo’s Got Money Troubles.” While “Practical Magic” is a movie — so, a one-off — “Scarpetta” (for Amazon Prime) and “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” (Apple TV) are both series expected to run for several seasons, depending on their success. There will, of course, be red carpet appearances as well as award shows to attend to, premieres and marketing/TV appearances.

”Nic is about to blanket the media,” a source said. ”She is of course devastated about her divorce, but she is an actress in her prime and she loves to work.”

The actress also has two more TV series: “Girls and their Horses” and “Discretion,” which are in pre-production. Kidman, who has done a slew of movies and TV shows in the past five years, was criticized for overtly sexual roles and the amount of time she spent filming after the news of her divorce came out. But the condemnation is out of whack as Kidman always prioritized her family — often insisting on filming in her home of Nashville, or if she had to film out of town, it would be during the school summer break. Urban, however, has spent a lot of the past five years on the road — and in the studio.

”It is deeply misogynistic and unfair for people to blame Nic for the dissolution of her marriage — claiming she was never home and always working,” the source said. ”Keith has been on the road as well — but his work takes him traveling all over the world for extended periods of time. And of course, he had rehearsals, writing sessions, recordings, studio time — you name it.”

What’s funny about the “Nicole works so much” argument is that it *feels* like Nicole has always worked so much more than Keith because no one has ever given a sh-t about Keith. People aren’t checking out his music, no one cares enough to keep up with all of his work commitments and projects. We believe that Nicole works so much because she’s always been the star of the marriage, she’s the one people care about and pay attention to. Anyway, I’m glad she’s not hiding away and I look forward to her divorce style yet again. Whenever Nicole is single, she simply has more fun with fashion and she takes bigger swings. Yay!

Go, girl. Loved her ever since seeing Dead Calm when it came out.

  2. Amy Bee says:

    Good for her.

    • Lorelei says:

@AmyBee, you beat me to it. Exactly what I was going to say. She’s not the one who cheated, and has nothing to be ashamed of. Good for her for getting out there, even though it must be difficult on some days.

  3. Eurydice says:

Wouldn’t Nicole be hitting “red carpets and our screens with a vengeance” whether or not she was married to Keith? The only difference is he won’t be standing next to her.

    • Lorelei says:

      @Eurydice, lol, fair point!

    • Wash says:

Nicole is ubiquitous when it comes to public appearances. She releases at least one new project every year and is a tireless promoter. She did all the film festivals this year and was featured on the cover of several magazines. She has never been a shrinking violet and this post-divorce rebrand is fake posturing.

  4. Granger says:

Sorry, but… whose face is that? She looks totally different again.

  5. SarahMcK says:

I loved the book Margo’s Got Money Troubles and the series has a great cast! I hope it’s good.
