The Sussexes posted support for Jamaica & links for aid after Hurricane Melissa

Last Thursday, in the middle of “Prince Andrew becoming Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever team posted this lovely image of Meghan doing one of her favorite activities, arranging flowers. A beautiful woman smiling for the camera, quick, someone get some pitchforks! Or as the Daily Mail put it in their headline: “Another blunder for Meghan: Duchess shared picture of herself grinning broadly as news of Andrew’s ousting from the Royal Family broke – before ‘quickly deleting it’.” Basically, As Ever’s team posted the photo because what do they care about Andrew and the rest of them? Then someone was like “crap, we should probably delete this because it looks like Meghan is laughing at the left-behinds.” I would still like to believe that she was, in fact, laughing at the left-behinds as they enjoyed one of the worst months of their existence.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan posted a message and links to resources to get aid to Jamaica. Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica last week, and the photos and videos coming out of the country are apocalyptic. Melissa was one of the most damaging and violent hurricanes to hit Jamaica in history. Melissa has also hit Cuba and Haiti really hard. But Jamaica is still a British Commonwealth country, and one would expect more energy from the British about this devastation. Instead, King Charles posted one message of general support for Jamaica and left it at that. The Prince and Princess of Wales have posted nothing on social media about Jamaica. Meanwhile, the Sussexes wrote something quite personal and proactive:

Hurricane Melissa has torn through the Caribbean, devastating communities across Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, and the Bahamas. Many people have lost their lives in one of the strongest Atlantic storms ever recorded, with winds reaching 185 mph. Thousands of homes are gone. Critical infrastructure, hospitals, schools and water systems, lie in ruins.

Jamaica, a country The Duke and Duchess hold close to their hearts and last visited in 2024, has been hit especially hard. Towns and villages that are usually vibrant and full of life have been torn apart. Entire neighborhoods remain underwater. More than three-quarters of the island is still without power, and for many families, the question isn’t just about rebuilding -it’s about making it through the day.

But here’s what keeps showing up in every report, every photo, every story coming out of Jamaica: people helping people. Neighbors clearing debris together. Families sharing what little they have. Communities organizing, coordinating, refusing to give up. That’s not just resilience – that’s the power of community in its truest form. When everything else falls apart, that’s what holds.

We’ve been so moved, once again, by the work of World Central Kitchen, whose teams showed up immediately to serve hot meals to thousands of families, and they’re far from alone. Aid workers, first responders, volunteers from organizations large and small – they’ve all dropped everything to help. Their commitment is extraordinary.

These communities need our support now. We’ve donated, and ask you to give whatever support you can, large or small, because every little helps. The links below will take you to trusted organizations working directly on the ground in Jamaica and across the Caribbean.

Whether you can give financially, donate supplies through NYC drop-off sites, or simply share these resources – it all matters.

Thank you.

World Central Kitchen – Providing hot meals to families affected by Hurricane Melissa

Jamaica Relief Fund – Official government relief portal for direct support

Team Rubicon – Deploying volunteer teams for humanitarian aid and disaster response

All Hands and Hearts – Mobilizing volunteers for long-term recovery and rebuilding

Walk Good Jamaica – Grassroots relief efforts supporting local communities

Food for the Poor Jamaica – Providing food, clean water, hygiene kits, and emergency supplies

I’m petty, so I enjoyed the fact that Harry and Meghan pointed out that they last visited Jamaica in 2024. They were literally the last “British royals” to visit Jamaica, much to the chagrin of the British media, who threw a full-scale tantrum about the Sussexes’ Jamaica visit last year. And no one wants to talk about the last time Huevo and Keen were in the country in 2022. Their asses got fired on live television. It was glorious. All of which to say, Jamaicans are wonderful and I hope people donate if they can!

See William, this is statesman like compassion. Donate. You can afford it.

    • Laura D says:

The thing is he doesn’t even have to donate. He has an X account he could do what H&M have done and highlight all the ways people can help. He’s in Brazil talking about climate change, he could incorporate this disaster into one of his speeches. Seriously it shouldn’t be this difficult for his team to drum up support and bring the devastation the hurricane has brought to the Caribbean to the front of the news report.

This is so typical of the rage monster and his sicknote wife, unless it directly affects them they’re not interested. If this hurricane had occurred while they were on one of their family holidays in the Caribbean they wouldn’t shut up about the inconvenience of it all (and how it was Meghan’s fault) for weeks.

Or visit… instead of playing beach volleyball in Rio go and do some actual relief work in Jamaica? He likes proving he is young and fit…

Harry & Meghan Sussex running a SUCCESSFUL “shadow” 🇬🇧 Royal Court in 🇺🇲 is why the London branch will become more and more irrelevant

World Health Kitchen is in JA feeding people. If you donate you can look for your company so they can match it. My best friends are Jamaican and I’ve been many times. If you can give please do.

    • Jenny says:

WCK does such good everywhere. I have been sitting on my fingers waiting for tomorrow, which is my company’s annual “Giving Day” where they match at 200%, so I can maximize my donation impact.

Donated to World Central Kitchen through the Sussex Squad link. I saw something that said Chuck and Horsey made a “personal donation “ too, lol. Not surprised that the Prince and Princess of Petty have said nothing.

  5. This is how you help. You get links put out there of where to send a donation or to help. This is service is universal!!!

This is good from Harry and Meghan. It’s also undermines the British press narrative that Harry is coordinating with BP. If he was he would have waited for BP to make a statement first.

If she was laughing at their plight, who cares? I’m sick of Meghan being expected to adjust her professional life and private life to whatever they have going on on that island. They have made it clear and apparent that they hate her, consider her the worst thing that’s ever happened to their family, and don’t consider her or her kids family. She shouldn’t show them any consideration, even though because she’s kind she does.

As for Jamaica, I appreciate that they posted links and ways for people to be able to donate as well. A lot of people want to help and don’t know how. That being said, the actual Prince and Princess of Wales haven’t posted anything, and definitely haven’t asked anyone to donate themselves. But these people mad because Harry didn’t have on a Blue Jays hat at a baseball game.

    • MsIam says:

I mean what would they want her to say anyway? “Poor Andrew, if only he weren’t suffering from the consequences of his own actions “? Besides if you contrast how the Unroyals have treated Andrew, defending him and protecting him until the end, with how they have thrown the Sussexes to the wolves, they shouldn’t expect a godd@mn thing from Meghan.

    • jais says:

Same. It was a cute and lovely picture. That had nothing to do with that family.

  8. Nic919 says:

Really bad look that the future king of Jamaica (until they pass the law to remove the monarch which has not happened yet) couldn’t take time from his vacation to post support. Or get the staff to do it because he isn’t the one doing any of this himself.

    • jais says:

Oh, I can believe that William, despite being the future king, does not have fond or positive feelings towards Jamaica and that’s why we haven’t heard from him or Kate. Arguably, some of their worst press ever happened in Jamaica.

      • Gemini says:

They were also quick to claim that they “stole” (or was it poached?) Jose Andres from Harry and Meghan. WCK is on the ground helping. Why is KP not helping Jose?

  9. Over it says:

I hope she was laughing and still is and I want her to put her picture back up because those people did everything they could to break her . They did not care about her mental health and I am happy to see that her mental health is in a good and happy place. F the left behinds and their media . They were willing to tell lies to protect them , but not willing to tell the truth about her and Harry.

  10. Al says:

William and Kate are among the laziest, most unprofessional, and least caring people ever to hold the positions they do. They—and their entire team—are astonishingly incompetent. What’s most frustrating is how the British media and the Murdoch-controlled media continually cover for them and allow their mediocrity to go unchecked. Sadly, they’ll always be protected, both by the British and much of the international press, simply because they hold power and influence. I’m honestly fed up with this nonsense. Every single day, Meghan is attacked for merely existing, while William and Kate behave unprofessionally without consequence.

  11. B says:

I’m more inclined to believe a smiling pic of Meghan was posted and then retracted because her team was concerned it would seem insensitive due to what happened in Jamaica and their planned involvement in providing aid. The British press and the firm’s greatest fantasy is that they matter to the Sussexes and are considered anything more than a regrettably unavoidable annoyance.

  12. Jgerber says:

Of course they did. Who didn’t? Kate and Will.

  13. QuiteContrary says:

Maybe Kate can pass a few quid through a chain-link fence.
