Pete Davidson & Elsie Hewitt’s daughter is half named after where she was conceived

Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, comedian Pete Davidson and actress Elsie Hewitt’s first baby, was born on December 12. She’s just under seven weeks old. When Pete and Elsie announced their daughter’s name, everyone quickly figured out the sweet tribute to Pete’s late father, Scott Davidson, a firefighter who passed away on 9/11. As it turns out, daughter Scottie Rose’s first name also has another special meaning to her parents: she was conceived while Pete and Elsie were in Scotland for Dave Navarro’s wedding. She shares her middle name with her mom, aunties, and maternal grandmother. Celebrity news outlet Elite Daily had an interview with Pete and Elsie, who revealed the origin story of their baby girl’s name.

Right when Pete Davidson first saw his daughter, he knew what she had to be named. “The second she came out, we were like, ‘That’s Scottie,’” Davidson says. It’s a name he and his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt had been discussing for a while during her pregnancy — not only because it has a deep meaning for Davidson, but also for an unexpected second reason.

Hewitt says the couple “went through so many different names,” but Scottie was “an early favorite.” “We always knew that was the one we were going to come back to, because it was the most meaningful. It’s also so cute,” Hewitt says.

The name is a tribute to Davidson’s father Scott Davidson, a New York City firefighter who died responding to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Davidson has shared how his dad’s closest friends would call him Scottie as a nickname.

But there’s also a less emotional inspiration for little Scottie’s name. “She was conceived in Scotland,” Davidson shares. In March 2025, Hewitt chronicled a romantic trip to Scotland with her boyfriend on Instagram. They traveled to the U.K. to attend the wedding of musician Dave Navarro.

While Scottie’s first name carries both a deep meaning for Davidson, as well as a romantic memory for the couple, the baby’s middle name was all about Hewitt’s family.

“She has the middle name Rose, which is very special to Elsie,” Davidson says. The model explains: “My middle name is Rose, and both of my sisters’ middle names are also Rose, because my mom’s maiden name had Rose in it. So I wanted to have a little special part of them in her name, too.”

I always enjoy a good name origin story. Between her conception in Scotland and Pete’s dad’s name, how could they not go with Scottie? It feels very kismet to me. I probably would have connected those dots too and tried to work “Scott” or “Scottie” into my little girl’s first or middle name, too. I love when a name is inspired by seemingly random alignments like this. Oh, and I may be biased, but I also love the origin of “Rose” as her middle name.

While some people may rightfully consider knowing where a baby was conceived TMI, Scottie Rose isn’t the only child whose parents have gone on record confirming this very same baby name origin. Other famous celebrity kids whose names were inspired by their conception locale include Bryce Dallas Howard (and her siblings), Paris Jackson, and (kinda) Brooklyn Lachey. In a similar vein, Brooklyn Beckham got his name because that’s where Victoria was when she learned she was pregnant.

My first name is named after a street in England where my parents lived for a year & where I was conceived. My mom was pregnant with me when they flew back to Canada. My middle name is from an American town where a relative died in a hurricane. No idea why my parents went with that lol.

I can relate to the rather morbid middle name! My third middle name (Loreto) is from the square in Milan where my grandpa’s partisan cousin was executed during WWII, because I was born the day before the anniversary of the massacre. (It’s also where the partisans strung up Mussolini, his mistress, and cronies after executing them in 1945, so I guess that’s a more positive, if still morbid, association?)

I just love Pete, and I wish nothing but joy for his little family.
