Savannah Guthrie & her siblings issued a public plea for their mother’s return

Over the weekend, Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy went missing. Nancy, who is 84 years old and lives alone in Tucson, Arizona, didn’t attend church on Sunday, which is when the alert was raised and everything started moving. Reportedly, blood was found in and around Nancy’s home, and the police said that it very much looks like a kidnapping. A few days ago, a ransom note was sent to the media, but no one is sure if that’s authentic. Alongside all of that, gossip is circulating about Savannah’s sister Annie (who lives close to their mother) and her husband. Which is why it feels notable that Savannah, Annie and their brother Camron Guthrie all sat down together to film a public plea:

I believe and hope Nancy is alive too – it feels like she was kidnapped and she’s being kept somewhere, probably close by. Something else happened yesterday – Donald Trump apparently got in touch with Savannah, and he also ordered additional federal resources to aid in the search and investigation. I wondered why they were making such a big deal about Trump’s call to Savannah, but then something awful occurred to me. I wonder if there’s some concern that whoever kidnapped Nancy is anti-media, and that this was an attempt to target Savannah specifically because she’s a Today Show anchor. Trump is, after all, the man who constantly verbally abuses journalists and TV newscasters, and we know he’s inspired and incited violence many times.

With the US government kidnapping people daily, I feel guilty that I’m as invested in this particular kidnapping so much, but I have ties to the region and I know it’s a safe even idyllic place for one’s elder years. I truly hope she’s found safe.

I know what you mean. Either scenario is a nightmare but this story really hits home for those of us with elderly parents. I feel so much for her family…I’d be an absolute mess.

  2. Amie says:

This whole story is just weird. The police are handling everything so odd too.

I don’t really know what to think. There’s a lot of reasons not to share too much with the public, but I truly hope they have that medication issue under control and that’s just not being reported.

I’m not sure I understand the “controversy” with the son-in-law. I don’t find anything suspicious about him dropping her off after dinner on a Saturday night. I’m sure it’s awful for him to have potentially been the last person to see her, but the facts as presented are the furthest thing from suspicious.

It’s widely speculated that this has related to the fact that the daughter works in the media. And considering the timeline we are living in and witnessing, nothing surprises me anymore.

  4. Brassy Rebel says:

Trump just wants to be part of the story because that’s what narcissists do. It would be totally out of character for him to have any genuine empathy for this woman and her family. It’s also another opportunity for him to show off how he can order the entire federal government around.

Hoping for the best possible outcome here.

That’s exactly what I thought. He sees how much attention this story that has nothing to do with him is getting so of course he has to insert himself into it.

    • Nic919 says:

Exactly so. This is a story that has made headlines and he wants to be the centre of attention and claim that he saved her mother.

I hope that Savannah and her family can get their mother returned and not have to deal with that soulless menace.

This is so heartbreaking. I can only imagine the agony.

This is beyond upsetting for us Tucsonans. The Guthrie family is so well-loved in the community, and Nancy lives in what we consider one of our nicest/safest neighborhoods. We are all praying that she will be returned safely and in good health.
