There are only very vague details about Paradise and no spoilers
Paradise is one of four shows I watch every week. The other shows I’m watching are The Pitt, Best Medicine and Love Story. (You can hear more about the shows and movies we’re watching on the introduction to our podcasts.) I enjoy Paradise, but the writing is uneven and I did not like how season one ended. Season two gets into new characters and their backstories and it’s been much better overall. Shailene Woodley was a guest this season and she was excellent.
Without giving away spoilers, this last episode six was ridiculous. Jane’s gift bag scene was completely unrealistic. I’m happy with how it ended though. Sterling K. Brown is phenomenal and his character Agent Xavier Collins deserves a decent ending. We may just get that after all as Hulu announced that it’s been renewed for a third season. Unfortunately this will likely be the final season, as that’s how showrunner Dan Fogelman has mapped it out. No!
Paradise has been renewed for a third season at Hulu, which is all a part of creator Dan Fogelman‘s plan.
The third season has been promised to be the last one by the creative team, as the This Is Us creator pitched the hit series starring Sterling K. Brown as a three-season story. Hulu confirmed the renewal on Tuesday, following the release of the cliffhanger sixth episode of the currently airing second season. Paradise season two is now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S. for bundle subscribers.
“We know what the end is, and it’s an end that would make it very difficult to make a season four come afterward,” executive producer John Hoberg recently confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter about sticking with Fogelman’s original three-season plan.
The Emmy-nominated political thriller from creator Fogelman stars Brown, in a This Is Us reunion, as Agent Xavier Collins. Season two has followed Xavier out of the bunker, called Paradise, that is housing the survivors of a near-apocalyptic event, in his search for the wife — Terri, played by Enuka Okuma — he thought had died, but who is actually among the survivors above the bunker.
Per the logline, Xavier “searches for Teri out in the world and learns how people survived the three years since The Day. Back in Paradise, the social fabric frays as the bunker deals with the aftermath of season one, and new secrets are uncovered about the city’s origins.”
The cast includes Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Krys Marshall, Okuma, Aliyah Mastin, Percy Daggs IV and Charlie Evans, with recurring guest stars James Marsden, Shailene Woodley, Thomas Doherty and Jon Beavers.
I was about to drop my Hulu subscription the minute Paradise ends so this was smart of them to announce the renewal. (Also Disney’s Wonderman with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is on Hulu now. That was one of my favorites and I highly recommend it.) I’m bummed that we’re only getting three seasons though. This show is much better than juggernaut The Walking Dead and that got 11 seasons and six spinoffs. At least this is the showrunner’s plan and it’s not because some executive decided it’s too expensive or whatever.
Here’s Sterling’s announcement. They did a similar card scene in a key moment this season and it feels very early 2000s, you know? It’s forever associated with Love, Actually and INXS. That’s no shade on Sterling. Also I hope someone is putting Sterling in another Oscar-worthy movie role soon. This man needs an Academy Award.

I haven’t watched season 2 of paradise yet. But I did binge season 1 and it was really good even though I agree about the ending. When I visited my parents they were very into Bad Medicine. They don’t like it as much as the original uk doc Martin but they still like it and watch. It’s good to see Abigail Spencer and Josh Charles and Annie Potts. Wonderman was v good. I’m still slowly watching For All Mankind on Apple just bc I only watch it with my dad when I visit.
I have heard good things about For All Mankind, do you recommend it? I agree about the cast of Best Medicine, they play well off each other. Thank you re: the ending of Paradise season 1! I thought it was such a cheap way to end it. Season 1 episode 7 with the flashback was excellent though.
Parasite season 2 has been good so far but they need a 3rd season to wrap this up!
Hurrah!
I loved season one and agree about the ending, what was maybe the penultimate episode tore me apart. So far I’ve only watched episode one of S2 and I really enjoyed it but there’s only so much time I can spend in a post apocalyptic world right now.
I really like SKB. One of my favorite movies right now (they rotate) is Hotel Artemis with SKB and Jodie Foster. It’s quite like the John Wick movies with many good actors in it. JFs character walk is so awesome to me.
Sterling K. Brown is an excellent actor and eye candy as well. He was nominated for an Academy Award and should have won.
