Drake released three albums, full of two-year-old grievances about Kendrick Lamar

It’s been two years since Kendrick Lamar took down Drake with a series of spectacular disses: a feature on Future’s “Like That,” followed by “Euphoria,” “Meet the Grahams” and the multiple-Grammy-winning “Not Like Us.” Kendrick was already one of the GOATs, but his takedown of Drake was career-defining for Kendrick and career-ending for Drake. Drake has never been the same. And what’s even funnier is that Drake has telegraphed for two years that Kendrick really hit him where it hurts. Drake tried to sue over the disses, he tried to pull various stunts, he tried to do anything but address Kendrick’s accusations and grow as a person and an artist.

Speaking of, Drake has spent months “teasing” his new album, Iceman. Because he’s made of ice, get it? Because Kendrick can’t make the “Iceman” cry. Well, Drake dropped Iceman last night… alongside two other surprise albums. Apparently, the songs are like 90% awful. And the lyrics are all about Drake trying to respond to Kendrick TWO YEARS LATER.

The world was waiting for one Drake album. Along came three. The rapper’s dropped his anticipated solo record, Iceman, plus two more – Habibti and Maid of Honour – with 43 songs in total. They include collaborations with artists including Central Cee, 21 Savage and PARTYNEXTDOOR.

They are the first albums the Canadian has dropped since his beef with US rapper Kendrick Lamar escalated in 2024. And, yes, he does bring it up on the new record.

The big question about the heavily hyped new release was whether Drake would use his new music to reignite his bitter feud with Lamar. He appears to take aim at his rival with some lyrics, accusing him of using his birthplace of Compton, Los Angeles as a backdrop for acts of charity, while escaping to a celebrity life elsewhere.

“Handin’ out turkeys on camera inside of your hood, then you go back to the hills,” he raps on one track.

And on Iceman album opener, Make Them Cry, it looks like Drake has given a glimpse into his feelings at the height of the rap beef.

“Tell us how it felt to meet the grim reaper / This album better have some big features / Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m all alone for my mental [health],” he raps.

Drake also appears to call out other rappers and stars who were seen to take Lamar’s side. On one track, he appears to target LA Lakers basketballer LeBron James, who attended a Lamar gig when the beef was at its peak.

According to ESPN, the song “Make Them Remember” is about LeBron, and Drake says: “I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena. Because you always made your career for switching teams up. … Please stop asking what’s going on with 23 and me, I’m a real n—a and he’s not.” The “arena” reference was about LeBron coming out for Kendrick’s Juneteenth Pop-Out concert. LeBron didn’t appear on stage with Kendrick, but Bron was there, and he loved every minute of Kendrick’s concert. Billboard had an even more extensive breakdown of all of the people Drake references and cries about on these three albums. He tries to diss J.Cole too, even though Cole was like “I’m out” before the beef really started. Anyway, I’m living for all of the tweets. Drake really thought he was doing something.

Corny. Just absolute cornball, top to bottom. I’m almost embarassed for him.

  2. Grant says:

But are they as bad as Chris Brown’s most recent album, which got a hilariously scathing review from Pitchfork??

Drake is the JD Vance of rap

Lol but women are too emotional 😂

He’ll do decent numbers, because his fans suffer from the exact same issues he does, no growth or introspection. They will spin it on repeat, and people wanting to see the car crash will listen too.

This is honestly just two years too late. No one cares, he’s lost his cultural touch point.

Based on the album titled Habibti, I guess which culture will next be picked over by this vulture.

Also Kikster924 your comment made me laugh so hard I scared my cat.

It took 2 years because its not easy finding ghost writers for 43 songs. I love this for him.

Every action from this person further shows how much of a loser he is and I really love that for him.

Just wanting to add my 2 cents about Iceman. It’s apart of street culture as well, specially Black drug empire street culture etc. of the late 80s-90s. Iceman was a nickname given, not self decided, but given to certain level of player in the streets with pull, power and status. Iceman is like in Urban Romance books the plug for the plug type role. So anyway. The fact he started calling himself Iceman is another instance of stealing from the culture and being an appropriator culture vulture.
