Peter Phillips & Harriet Sperling did not invite Prince Andrew to their wedding

Following King Charles’ 2023 coronation, sadness crept in quickly among the royal reporters. They acknowledged that the coronation was likely to be the last “big royal event” for many years, given the lack of princes and princesses eligible for marriage, and given the lack of imminent state funerals. Which means that Peter Phillips’ second wedding had the potential for big-time royal hype. While Peter is royal-adjacent, he’s in “good standing” with the Windsors, and he’s popular among his cousins and his uncle, King Charles. They really could have done a big “royal wedding” spread for Peter’s wedding to Harriet Sperling. Instead, Peter and Harriet are getting married in the Cotswolds in about three weeks. There’s been precious little hype or gossip about the wedding. Well, the Mail is trying! Apparently, Peter and Harriet have not invited Peter’s uncle, Prince Andrew.

Peter Phillips and fiancée Harriet Sperling are set to welcome almost the entire Royal Family to their June wedding – but one notable person is expected to miss the event.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly not been invited to the private Gloucestershire ceremony as the monarchy continues efforts to distance itself from the fallout surrounding his long-running scandal linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested it is considered ‘unlikely’ he will attend amid continuing reputational concerns surrounding the King’s disgraced brother.

The couple are set to marry at All Saints Church on June 6 in what insiders describe as an intimate but deeply significant royal gathering. Among those expected to attend are King Charles and Queen Camilla, alongside Peter’s mother Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence. Also expected at the Gloucestershire ceremony are the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. Peter’s sister Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall are also expected to attend the celebrations.

Peter, 48, and Harriet, 45, officially announced their engagement in August last year after first being linked in May 2024. In a statement to announce the joyous news, they said both families were ‘delighted’.

Now, with nearly all senior royals expected to gather in the Cotswolds this summer, Peter and Harriet’s wedding is shaping up to be one of the most significant private royal family celebrations of the year.

[From The Daily Mail]

“…One of the most significant private royal family celebrations of the year…” This is what I mean – it’s a missed opportunity for the glamour-starved and happy-occasion-starved Windsors to have this wedding buried in the Cotswolds, with little to no gossip or drama. Oh, Andrew isn’t invited, big whoop. I bet Peter invited Princess Eugenie and Beatrice though, and I bet they’ll show up. But the Mail won’t even milk that potential drama! Nor will anyone confirm whether or not Peter invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!! What is going on over there?

  1. Tessa says:

Since it is the second marriage for both it is doubtful they wanted a big wedding. Anne and tim Lawrence had a low key wedding

  2. HillaryIsAlwaysRight says:

It must be such a relief to have an excuse to not invite the one relative you really didn’t want to see there anyway.

I really want her espadrilles with the green velvet ribbon!

  3. Lady J says:

I love Harriet’s style! She is always so well put together, for her personal taste and figure.

I know that she works with a stylist, and this shows what good professional styling can do – not just having your admin (cough Natasha cough) moonlight as your stylist and have her copy everyone else because she can’t figure out what truly suits you as a person.

She has the same problem as Kate with peplums: her waist is cinched too high, so the peplum doesn’t sit on her hips and can’t do its job flattering her figure.

I am surprised about the lack of hype around the wedding. Yes, it’s private but still.

  5. Amy Bee says:

Having a big wedding is not justifiable because he has no title and nobody knows who he is.

  6. YankeeDoodles says:

She looks so refreshingly pleasant & upbeat & self-assured, like she’s sailing on her own steam. Good luck to them!!!

  7. therese says:

    Always thought Peter is attractive.

I never realised how much Harriet and Zara favor each other until today.
