Just last year, Mikey Madison was Hollywood’s newest It Girl after her ballsy, Oscar-winning role in Anora. Mikey was pretty much offered anything she wanted – I’m sure she could have named her price for any brand ambassadorship, and she also had her pick of scripts. Mikey ended up going for ambassadorships with Dior and Tiffany & Co (smart), but she said no to tons of projects. I get the feeling that she might already have a “picky” reputation. Well, this year’s It Girl is Inde Naravarrette, star of surprise blockbuster Obsession. Inde has been a jobbing actress without much of a profile, and now she’s in the same position as Mikey last year: every script, every project, every ambassadorship is on the table. Well, Page Six had some interesting information about what Inde is turning down.
A few months ago, actress Inde Navarrette was a relative unknown — now she’s starring in a Marvel franchise, turning down co-starring roles with Leo and getting papped outside the Chateau Marmont. Not to mention that she could be in Oscar contention for a film that’s considered one of the most profitable ever at the box office. Before the horror hit “Obsession” was released on May 15 to record-shattering box office numbers, Navarrette, 25, was known primarily to fans of the TV series “Superman & Lois,” and perhaps the controversial 2020 Netflix drama “13 Reasons Why” as a regular on both shows.
Cut to today when, “She is on everyone’s short list right now,” a prominent producer in town tells us, noting that the actress is regularly turning down mid-seven-figure offers.
We’ve learned that before Navarrette was revealed last week as a star of the next “X-Men” movie for Marvel, with Adam Driver and Sadie Sink, she was on the short list of actresses being wooed to star in “Heat 2” — the upcoming sequel to Michael Mann’s epic crime drama which is scheduled to start shooting this fall.
A knowledgeable source confirmed that due to her commitment to the upcoming “X-Men,” the breakout star is no longer in contention to join Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio to play the role of Sharlene, a character originated by Ashley Judd. P6H has also learned that Navarrette passed on a role that would’ve paid her $2.5 million for a horror project directed by Mattias Hoehne.
(Navarrette was already set to star in another horror project by Hoehne, called “Invertigo,” which centers on teens who get stuck on a rollercoaster after a system failure. That film currently has no release date.)
Navarrette is even gaining buzz as a potential Oscar contender for her role as Nikki Freeman in filmmaker Curry Barker’s breakout hit, “Obsession.” (The Focus Features horror hit had a $750,000 budget, and has earned close to $500 million at the worldwide box office.) An awards campaign seems like the least the studio could do considering Navarrette was reportedly paid around $20,000 for the indie project.
The Marvel role is Rogue – she was cast as Rogue in whatever Marvel is doing with the X-Men franchise, which is anyone’s guess at this point. I’m not flat-out against young up-and-coming stars signing a contract with a superhero franchise, but I’m concerned that X-Men seems to be the only thing that’s landed on her desk which interests her? What is her agent thinking? Working on Heat 2 would have been a good move for her career, and grabbing a $2.5 million paycheck would have been great for her bank account. It’s gotten to the point where all Xennials, Millennials and Gen Zers have seen the greatest artists of their generation take the most boring and repetitive path, signing away a decade of their lives to the MCU.

It’s an interesting choice. Inde is a known gamer so it’s possible she is just very into comics as well. We’ll see how it goes.
