I think Brooke Shields and Heidi Klum walk the hollywood mommy line best. You see the occasional pics of their kids, some of them even publicity shots but they seem to have found a balance between covering up their kids blanket style like Michael Jackson and thrusting them out for public consumption.

That being said, I think Posh’s kids are going to surprise people with how well adjusted they turn out to be. There isn’t much I like about that woman but she has always seemed like a good mother to me.

  2. MSat says:

Yeah, Kelly is such an authority on parenting, we should totally listen to her opinions.

This from a girl who became famous in the first place because of her parents’ MTV reality show.

What ever. She can’t STFU fast enough for me.

  3. AC says:

I have seen plenty of pics of gwenyths kids. I dunno… I think its best to not freak the kids out about the paps and go along your daily routine. Protect them when necissary but don’t make such a huge deal out of it.

  4. cc says:

Covering your kids up to avoid the paps, in my opinion, makes them want that picture more. Heidi Klum and Brooke Shields do walk that line very well. As for Kelly Osbourne making these comments, until she is in their position, having children who may be in the public eye, can’t really comprehend how to handle it. Ideas maybe, not the experience.

God, just shut up, Kelly. I’ve just watched you present Project Catwalk and you’d be wise to concentrate on trying to get a sentence out without having to look at your prompt cards instead of dishing out advice to people with a hell of a lot more talent and life experience than you.
And I agree, headache, I’m sure the Beckham boys will do just fine.

  6. Syko says:

I’m with you, MSat and headache. The Beckham boys seem well adjusted and both parents seem loving and caring. I also like how Gwen Stefani handles it all, you get to see enough of the adorable little boy, and she’s always smiling and pleasant, but nobody’s on parade.

  7. Ling says:

I don’t think the spice girls are trying to profit off their kids. Thy would have sold the tickets anyways. It is an adorable touch, considering the song. Also, they don’t have the kids onstage every night. When I went, their kids didn’t appear. If I was a kid, I’d be proud that my mom was including me in her job… I loved it when my mom took me to the office when I was little.

  8. Bodhi says:

I don’t think they were trying to profit off their children either. They were showing their kids what Mommy does for work & the kids sure didn’t seem to be upset about it.

And ditto on the Beckham boys. Whatever her other issues may be, Victoria has always seemed like a great mom.

Do the Osbournes spend their days looking for people with microphones? Who gives a shit what she thinks about anything? And god that kabuki look ain’t doing her any favors.

  10. journey says:

suddenly it seems like kelly looks like rumer willis’s sister. is my mind going or is it the kabuki make-up?

  11. The Odd Duck says:

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think Kelly’s experiences invalidate what she’s saying. If anything, I’d say it’s fueling her position. Kelly grew up on her father’s tours, after all. She wasn’t, to my knowledge, brought out on stage like the Spice children were, and obviously the two concerts are going to attract different audiences. But I can see where children in either setting might be afraid. A bunch of strangers screaming out for your parent(s) and who sometimes can call out your name? That would have frightened me when I was three or four probably.

And looking at the Osbourne children, it’s interesting how both Jack and Kelly, who participated in the reality show, ended up with all these drug problems, but Aimee, the one who did NOT appear on the show, turned out relatively normal. Of course, though, I think Ozzy’s own addictions and problems are the main cause of that.

Nonetheless… what’s wrong with someone, who has a famous parent and who has been thrust in the spotlight at a relatively young age, saying that maybe it’s not a great idea to do that? Kelly’s not saying that the Spice Girls’ children are going to turn out horribly or that their parents were trying to exploit them. Just that maybe encouraging that spotlight isn’t a brilliant thing to do. Which seems to be pretty valid to me and not all that critical. *shrugs*

  12. Bellatrix says:

Gosh, don’t get me started on Project Catwalk. Kelly couldn’t stop nervously wringing her hands and lay out flat sentences.
You somehow start to adore Klum’s easiness in front of the camera on Project Runway…

But back on topic : although I do not approve of the Spice Girls bringing their children on stage show after show, I don’t think it makes them bad mothers. However, it was a pure stunt.
I somehow also agree with those thinking that Posh Spice’s kids will probably turn out rather good. She might be a never-smiling shopzilla but she does care a lot about her sons and spends quite a lot of time with them.

For the celebrity mothers, I think Heidi Klum, Jennifer Garner and Marcia Cross handle it very well.
But that’s just the paparazzi pictures speaking, of course.

  13. Tanya says:

Gimmie a break! The last Ozzy concert I went to he brought both Kelly and Jack on stage and they weren’t any older than the oldest of the Spice Girls kids at the time.

At least the Spice Girls had their kids wearing ear phones to protect their hearing. Ozzy did not.

  14. I choose me says:

Don’t think I’d like this chica if I met her but damn does she have great skin. This is what I picture when I hear or read the term “English Rose”

  15. xiaoecho says:

    Thank you Kelly!

  16. kathy says:

Posh DID NOT have ear protection on her boys, the other Spice Girls did, but NOT POSH!!! Posh Spice is a no-tallent who can only prance on stage with a microphone that is turned off!!!
