Just when you thought that Kate Gosselin might be fading into her own corner of overly packaged reality television comes news that she may score a dating show that will match her up with eligible single dads. Because that’s just what Kate needs, a new man to emasculate and more kids to foist off on her staff when the cameras aren’t around. Kate bitching to dates about what a hardworking mom she is will make for good television, though, and network executives know that. We’ve heard this rumor for a while, but it has a ring of truth this time, especially since it’s been a whole two weeks since she’s gone on a talk show. Still, insiders deny it and there’s the matter of her contract with TLC, which presumably bars competing shows. A dating show could potentially up the interest in her other shows, so you never know.
Jimmy Kimmel and Kelly Ripa both joked that Kate Gosselin ought to take a turn on “The Bachelorette,” and now there are fierce rumors circulating that Gosselin is working on a deal with ABC to star on a similarly styled show.
“Kate’s working on a deal to do a new reality dating series on ABC,” according to an insider who spoke to Life & Style. The magazine reports that Gosselin would “likely be starring in her own series, possibly matching her with single dads.”
A source close to the reality TV mom counters that those rumors simply are not true. “Kate has no desire to start dating right now and has no interest in a dating show,” said the source.
There’s another practical matter: Gosselin remains under contract with TLC.
It’s no surprise that other networks would be interested in Gosselin: Her new series “Kate Plus 8” is a solid performer for TLC. Its premiere on June 6 drew more than 3 million viewers.

Kate said the Today Show earlier this month that she’s not ready to date again, but I would guess that there aren’t many guys around vying for her affections. There’s also the matter of her very attentive bodyguard, who is married with his own family but has been rumored to be having an affair with Kate. It’s hard to tell what’s going on with those two. I hope this story is fake and that Kate doesn’t get her own dating show, but I know if she did that I would watch it. So many people tuned in to see her look like a flailing chicken on Dancing With The Stars and I bet she’s even less skilled at dating.
Kate’s goofy pothead ex, Jon Gosselin, is apparently shopping his own reality show. He was seen out in LA with a reality show producer. I doubt there’s much interest in whatever it is he’s selling, but I believe he’s still barred from doing his own show by whatever agreement he reached with TLC. It’s hard to tell, though, as the terms were confidential.
Update: Thanks to Kaiser for pointing out that Kate is also on the cover of OK! this week, with the title “A New Man for Kate!” The teaser article on OK!’s website reveals that Kate is still looking for said man to come into her life and take her sneering directions on how to behave.

Whenever I see her face, hate is the first emotion I feel. Then I get really upset because she is making so much money while I am basically unemployed. Then I realize she is not worth the energy I am using thinking about her. And, finally, I think about all those kids and feel very, very sad for them.
why is does someone with 8 children a recent, fresh divorce need to date? Can she and her ex just parent those 8 children and give themselves time before dating and having other relationships?
