Ellen Degeneres has been extremely tight-lipped regarding the demise of her relationship with actress Anne Heche. It was fairly obvious after the breakup that Ellen was basically crushed- but she didn’t give much more information on it than that. But now that she has a new book deal to write her memoir, it looks like Ellen might just spill the beans on her three years with the formerly gay Anne.
Ellen Degeneres is using a tell-all memoir to get the last laugh in her infamous split with Anne Heche.
The Emmy-winning comic recently inked a publishing deal for a new book, and insiders say the gloves are coming off!
“Ellen’s always taken the high road when it comes to divulging secrets about her years with Anne,” a publishing insider told The National Enquirer. “But now she’s ready to spill all the details.”
The 52-year-old talk-show queen – who has been married to gorgeous actress Portia de Rossi for two years – had a three-year romance with Anne, 41, in the late 90s. The “Men in Trees” star dumped Ellen and married a cameraman.
A few days after the split, Anne had a bizarre meltdown after taking the drug Ecstasy. She was found wandering outside Fresno, Calif. half-naked and shouting strange obscenities.
“When they split, Ellen bit her tongue and really did not publicly comment on her years with Anne,” the source said.
“But she’s finally prepared to tell the world how Anne used her as a Hollywood stepping stone. She’s got no problems talking about Anne’s bizarre behavior, her drug use, and the way she used men to make Ellen jealous. Ellen is using this book to settle an old score. Anne broke her heart.”

Heche has publicly commented on the breakup with Ellen. She once said she “changed her mind” about being gay and “closed that door.” I’m not sure that’s how it works, but if that was her thought process on the whole three-year relationship, then no wonder Ellen was so hurt. But do I believe she still dwells on it? Heck, no. She’s married to another woman, and they seem very happy. My guess is, Ellen is writing a memoir and there will be a chapter or two on Anne in the book- but I don’t think Ellen would dedicate an entire book to an ex-girlfriend. I don’t think her wife would like that too much. I know I wouldn’t.

I don’t think Ellen should divulge any details about Anne’s “possible mental illness”. She’s got nothing to gain from this.
Obviously Heche did decide to not be in a gay relationship anymore and did close the door.
I see no reason Ellen would need to get the “last laugh” on Heche, as both have moved on with their lives, and Ellen is happy with someone else.
I didn’t know she and Heche were together for 3 years. I thought the time was much shorter.
I think Ellen looked a lot better before she got that plastic surgery done on her eyes (very obvious)and it’s too bad what years of smoking have done to her mouth. As for Anne Heche, well, it didn’t work out. Ellen should get over it. She has admitted in the past that she is usually the dumper. I guess she found out what if feels like to be the dumpee.
A) I’m surprised to hear that Ellen even smoked,
B) I think Ellen has much more class than to write a tell-all, and

Nothing she could write would come close to the smackdown Steve Martin gave Heche in Bowfinger. Before Anne got gay and went out with Ellen, she was a soap star and got involved with Martin. When she started getting movie roles she dropped him and moved on. The female character in Bowfinger sleeps her way up and in the final scene shows up with her new girlfriend. Priceless! Few people have really committed to sleeping their way to the top as wholeheartedly as Heche.

I’ve always been very curious about Ellen’s side of the story. Heche didn’t just throw her over for “a cameraman.” He was the guy shooting a documentary of Ellen on the road for a comedy tour. The end credits of the comedy special read, “special thanks Coley Laffoon.” Ouch. What a smack iin the face!
And yes, Ellen and Anne were both chainsmokers of Marlboro Lights. Most actors smoke.

The term Whack-a-Doodle was invented for Heche. I’m curious about what happened in private but Ellen has a lot of class & I’m not sure she’d go there.
I keep waiting to hear about the demise of Anne’s present relationship. Is she working with anyone more famous then her current beau? I don’t think she’d let children slow her down.

I could see her mentioning the relationship in the memoir, but I don’t see her using it as an opportunity to trash Anne.
Ellen is at the top of her game career-wise and is happily married. I doubt she’d risk that to bash a relatively minor celeb no one has much interest in anymore.
Ellen may write a memoir but I think her beautiful wife and her success are all she needs to forget the crap with heche. Maybe at most she’d mention how much it hurt to feel like she’d just been cast aside. I doubt she’d spill any secrets heche may have told her. Like others here have said.. who cares about the minor celeb heche?
One interview i read had Ellen saying the hardest thing that had ever happened to her in her life was how she lost her career for a few years after coming out. I think she’ll focus more on that. Isn’t it a long-running joke by now that most of hollywood is in the closet?

She may mention her years with Anne, but it will be nothing more than that. She would never give Anne the chance at more publicity at her expense. Ever.

If Ellen is penning her memoir, she has far more interesting things to tell about than her relationship with Heche. But if she does mention her, I am sure it will be done tastefully and briefly. She is a success story and a champion for gay rights. Her brilliant career and marriage are examples for those who still struggle, and show how it can be done and done well. She deserves every accolade heaped upon her. As everyone here has said, she is class personified. Heche might be a footnote in Ellen’s story, nothing more.
I don’t think Heche had to ‘decide to stop being gay’ so much as ‘decide that an opportunistic relationship wasn’t getting her much publicity any more’.
I have always loved Ellen; loved her standup comedy and after she came out, I hated the way the industry treated her. I’m so glad she’s happy now and has a GREAT career—hey whack-a-doodle: pay attention dear, this is called karma. You dated, dumped and hurt many good people to try to get to the “top” but nobody cares about you now. Does anyone even remember when you were last in a movie? No? HA .
I doubt Ellen will tell all, too classy and probably doesn’t want to revisit old history, especially since Anne Heche was in all likelihood just pretending to be gay. I’m glad Steve Martin made it obvious who that character was based on, too – Anne H. deserved it.
I wonder if Melissa Etheridge’s former partner, Julie Cipher, was faking the whole thing, too? She was straight, then a lesbian, then left Melissa for a man.
I think it’s ridiculous how everyone is trashing Anne Heche. If you watched her and Ellen come out with their relationship Anne never even said she was gay; just that she was in love with Ellen. Anyone who pretended to like Heche ONLY because she was with Ellen didn’t like her to begin with. Heche’s true fans like myself know she’s an amazing actress; watch Return to Paradise the movie and you will gain respect for Anne. Personally, I’d love to hear Ellen’s side of the story because, let’s face it who doesn’t want some good nasty gossip and how boring it would be if the book just told how hard it was after Ellen came out. I can’t imagine that Ellen would do this. She has already written a couple of books and not mentioned Heche. Why now – it’s not like she needs to money or the press coverage. She has a tv show that is super popular, she is on Idol, spokesperson for Vitaminwater, Covergirl, American Express, etc. Why would she decide now is the time to reveal all especially as she seems to be madly in love with Portia.
Heche has done what since Ellen? Homewrecking, bitter divorce, her tv show cancelled, lost custody of her first child, had a kid with the guy she had an affair with, was broke and now has a bit role on Hung.
The best revenge is living well and Ellen has that in spades.

Heche’s father was a closeted gay who gave her herpes before dying of AIDS. It’s no excuse, but I can see how she would be confused about her sexuality and also messed up in the head.
Also, as far as the character in Bowfinger, Martin denies that it’s her:

Martin, who also wrote the script, dated actress Anne Heche before she became a household name from films like Six Days, Seven Nights and the remake of Psycho.

I love BOWFINGER remember the highway scene??? BTW I remember a few years Steve Martin was a guest on Ellen and they were so nice to eachother you can tell they had bonded over their shared ex. I think if Ellen has something to get off her chest she should. Not to bash Anne but to tell her side of the story
Anne’s hat may have been the inspriation for Go Gabba Gabba’s Muno. All Anne needed was the one eye and she’s set to do children’s parties if she still has her hat. LOL!
One other thing I would like to add is that Ellen did the same thing to Alex that Anne did to Ellen! Ellen was in a serious relationship with Alex and wala! falls head over heals for Portia Di Rossi (can’t blame her for that!) & goes to a hotel with her and dumps Alex right after she sleeps with her! I don’t blame Ellen for this anymore than I blame for Anne burning Ellen because life is short and we all move on when we fall out of love; both could have handled it better but both Ellen and Anne are nice people!
