Lindsay Lohan’s post-jail interview worth $1 million (update: her lawyer quit!)

I’m supposed to be writing about how this crackhead might be making millions of dollars for a post-jail interview, but I just saw that People Magazine put up one of their “Five Things To Know About” pieces… on Lindsay’s judge! Judge Marsha Revel is awesome, by the way. She’s 63 years old, and she grew up in Hollywood, where her mother was an assistant to real celebrities like Judy Garland. How awesome is that? The People piece is here.

Anyway, back to The Crackhead. PopEater reports that Lindsay’s first post-jail interview could be worth a ton of money, and that going to jail might be the best thing for her, financially (and crack-wise).

You can bet Lindsay Lohan will have plenty to say when she’s sprung from the joint later this summer, but if you want her for a TV interview you’d better have deep pockets! Sources tell me that deals are already in the works to secure Lindsay’s first post-jailhouse chat for a whopping $1 million. You heard right, a cool mil!

“Financially, it’s the best thing that could have ever happened to Lindsay,” a magazine insider tells me. “It’s no secret that Lindsay has been in financial trouble for a while. She will earn more money from her post-prison interview than she ever earned acting.”

Lindsay is not the first celebrity to turn her troubles into a cash cow. The New York Post reported that Paris Hilton was offered a million dollars for her post-prison interview back in June 2007. After a public outcry, however, several media outlets ultimately decided not to pursue Paris, forcing her to give her interview away to CNN’s Larry King for free.

Paid interviews, while routine in Europe, are still taboo here in the USA. The way major networks get around this is by engaging in “licensing” deals that provide compensation for the rights to personal material, most often video footage or photos.

Sources tell me that this is exactly the type of arrangement Lindsay is looking for.

“Expect to see a major TV and magazine deal,” a source close to Lindsay tells me. “Lindsay might have made a lot of mistakes, but she knows how much her first interview is worth. She won’t even consider offers of less than $1 million.”

Dan Wakeford, editor-in-chief of Life & Style magazine, explains to me why Lindsay’s first interview is worth so much. “It’s everyone’s primal fear to go to jail or have a child go to jail.”

Candace Trunzo, editor-in-chief of Star, believes that the appeal is part of the public’s fascination with Lohan. “For better or worse, we’re invested in Lindsay. We’ve watched her self-destruct for years, always anticipating the worst.”

However, Michelle Lee, InTouch Weekly’s editor-in-chief, warns, “I think her first post-prison interview will get a lot of attention, but it depends how long she actually ends up staying behind bars! At the same time, Lindsay always seems to have an excuse, so it would be interesting to see if she finally tells the full truth.”

And what that truth is ultimately worth to Lindsay is far more than $1 million dollars.

[From PopEater]

I love that explanation: “It’s everyone’s primal fear to go to jail or have a child go to jail.” Um, NO. We’re all paying attention because of schadenfreude, because it’s such a pleasure to see an entitled, violent, lazy, melodramatic, cracked-out little bitch finally, at long last, get hers. And we’ll watch the interview because we’ll want to know if she’s still the same little freak. And seriously, if Paris Hilton could have gotten $1 million a few years ago, I’d say a truly awesome, delusional, I’m-a-political-prisoner-get-me-out-of-here interview should net something like $2 – 3 million. We’ll see.

Meanwhile, the sales of Lindsay’s leggings line (6126) have already gotten a boost, and WWD expects them to sell out shortly. Also – Kim Kardashian is now Lindsay’s BFF? Ugh. Famewhores.

UPDATE: HAHHAAHAHAAA! Lindsay’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley just quit the crackhead! TMZ says that she “resigned” earlier today. Ha.

“Why don’t you (Lindsay & Kim) go back to your home on (Fame)Whore Island?” -Ron Burgundy
Unless a miracle happens and this bitch does more than a week of her time…I am officially over this. I hope no one buys the exclusive and whatever publication pays it looses money.

  2. guesty says:

honestly…i was actually thinking how sweet of kim k to be a friend to lindsay, who, imo, needs a friend more than ever right now, until my son pointed out the obvious which is being reiterated here. my bad!!!! ha.

  3. YT says:

Of course she will get the $1 million. She’s like a freak show at the circus, so the viewership for the interview will be high. Expect lots of BS. I won’t be able to watch because I have other plans that evening.

  4. denise says:

Why do I have a bad feeling, that she won’t see the inside of a jail cell?

  5. meme says:

this twat is never going to jail AND she’s going to make a lot of money off this circus. unfuckingbelievable.

  6. gillie says:

i hope the media avoids her like the plague. theres ZERO reason why anything this broad has to say would be worth US$1million.

  7. bizzy says:

She won’t even consider offers of less than $1 million

or, y’know, enough blow to cover a nickel. and a nickel, ideally.

  8. mln says:

I want to be strong enough not to watch the interview because after all it really is our fault isn’t it? why give this little Bitch our attention?

  9. Kaboom says:

That money should be forfeit to the state to fund DUI education as part of her sentence.

  10. Eileen Yover says:

I agree Kaboom-or it should go to a fund for people who loose family from drunk drivers. But it will go right up her nose.

  11. ! says:

Well, of course. It’s not enough that she’s gotten away with stuff that’d put a normal citizen away for years. Not enough that she downs painkillers by the fistful while people with real problems and real issues have to go without. Of course she’ll make millions of this. Of course.

  12. WednesdayGirl says:

Ah, Lindsay’s tears of self pity have now become tears of joy, as she now has a way to score money to buy the drugs she will be so cruely deprived of whilst being in jail.

Finally, all that partying, spending money you didn’t have on stupid shit you didn’t need, negative press, most likely getting your sister into the same drugs, and all the other assorted things that have been “so unfair” in your life have finally paid off.

I’m sorry, the only image I have of Lindsay in jail is of her complaining constantly to the guards of how unfair her life is and all the same bullshit she’s been saying for years and constantly making up some sort of “illness” or “pain in her body” in order to get some sort of drug while she’s in the clink.

That OR the guards can no longer take her annoying tirade and slip drugs into her food and drink to knock her out so they can finally have peace and quiet.

Lohan is never going to learn. She will be one who will “quit” for a while, but eventually get back on them, in stronger force, and her body will not be able to take it anymore and just shut down.

It’s sad, but that’s how I see her life heading.

  13. bellaluna says:

I will also be unable (read: unwilling) to watch the interview. I’ll read about it here, but I’m washing my hair that night.

  14. moo says:

Well, she has to support that Lohan family somehow!

  15. Lia says:

Heehee I like to watch her cry!!
Send her to Iraq or Haiti! Make her do something useful than sit on her ass in her private cell!

  16. JaisyMaisy says:

The problem with the interview theory is that it would require Lindsay to be honest for once. No media outlet is going to pay her a million plus dollars to continue this deny, deny, deny tactic she’s been pulling for years. Unless she’s willing to cough up some dirt on her life’s real events, she ought not even to count her pennies yet. She should take a page from the Robert Downey Jr playbook…everyone loves a comback story. Given, she’s no Robert Downey Jr, but I liked her circa Mean Girls. I’d like to root for her, if she’d ever give me a reason to.

  17. Sigh. says:

Ugh. Watch her come with the Amnesty International-level of victim/political prisoner talk. She is VOID of humility, integrity, or remorse, so IF true, THIS is why jail/rehab is going fail, Fail, FAIL. Her addiction(s) includes ATTENTION (+ and -). Take THAT away from her (and her “loved ones”) and watch her shrivel up and die.

THIS is NOT her “rock bottom” yet. Jail is a break in action, a mere distraction.

  18. Murmur says:

Why would I want to watch her whine and complain and LIE? I have no interest in a post-jail interview.

  19. Murmur says:

However, I would be interested in an interview of one of her jailers.

  20. YT says:

I wondered when her lawyer would call it quits. Good for her! Lindsay probably blames SCH for the jail and rehab time and will never admit that she is responsible for everything herself.

  21. lucy2 says:

I would be very happy if the same thing happened to her as it did to Paris, and no one wanted to be the one to give her a million bucks.
If she does get it, she’ll blow through it on, well, blow. But considering how deeply in debt she is, probably way more than we know, I would hope any money she gets goes to those she owes. It’s sick to think of her profiting off her crimes though.
I love that her attorney quit. You just know Lindsay went off and screamed at her, or who knows what else. She really thought she’d get away with it!

  22. Crash2GO2 says:

It will be interesting to see how she manages to try and convince us she was ‘working working working’ while in jail and rehab. ’cause – you know. Lots of time for really great design ideas, kind of like the one she had for her fingernail. And we all know how much she loves to talk about working working working.

  23. CB Rawks says:

“That money should be forfeit to the state to fund DUI education as part of her sentence.”

Yeah! And also, I thought it was illegal to profit from crime. They seize money if you stole it, and they don’t let you keep the money from the sale of books detailing your crimes. Isn’t that right?
That should extend to interviews and it sucks if it doesn’t.

  24. Jeri says:

Of course it was her attorneys fault – Lindsay can’t be at fault with her disregard of the probation guidelines.

  25. Lem says:

@Eileen Yover: whore Island is too cool for them, they might run into Archer on Holiday 😉

I’d rather see an interview with the lawyer! Her face read like a ‘Lie to Me’ episode for dummies. I’d love to hear what she has to say about working for the whackjob

  26. bellaluna says:

Too bad her atty’s bound by Client/Attorney Privilege. (Maybe LL hasn’t paid her atty, though. If not, C/A privilege doesn’t apply!)

I’d LOVE to watch an interview w/ her atty; Judge Revel; her prison guards…anyone but LL.

And no, LL shouldn’t be able to profit from her crimes. Of course, she also shouldn’t have been given so many opportunities to commit them in the first place, so go figure!

  27. kim says:

No one will pay her even near this. She is a has been whose career is over. No one cares enough to pay even close to a million to hear her embellish her jail stay.

  28. Miss says:

Pay me a mil. right now. I can give you the exact interview today that she’ll give after her “hard” time.

interviewer- what was it like in jail?

LL- I mean, the WORST! Especially considering I’ve never done ANYTHING to deserve any of this. Its so unfair that I can’t run drunk, drugged, and wild! Why is everyone against me?! Argh. Why can’t I freely theive and endanger peoples liiiives??! Why?!

  29. mimi says:

Giving a drug addict 1 MM is basically sending them to their grave.

  30. Spring says:

Shawn Holley Chapman looked SO fed up with Lohan in court, like she wanted to smack her. Good for her getting out of the way of this train wreck. Probably too late, but at least with some $$. So happy to see lilo prison-bound; hope it’s long enough to make a difference.

  31. Praise St. Angie! says:

to add to the “can’t profit from crimes” talk…

…if she owes people money, and they’ve filed suit for non-payment, can’t the court also rule that any future earnings (or at least part of them) have to go to paying back your creditors?

  32. flourpot says:

Doubt she “resigned”. More likely, she was fired for not keeping LL out of the pokey.

  33. tachwr says:

” I’m-a-political-prisoner-get-me-out-of-here interview”. Beware- maybe Lindsay reads this site and you*re giving her ideas…

  34. Jag says:

People should give an outcry like was done with Paris, so that Lindsay won’t profit from her crackhead ways. Did y’all see the f u on her middle fingernail in that second picture? She doesn’t care, and if she gets paid, she’ll feel vindicated for being so “wronged.” She won’t change, which is sad.

  35. EzE says:

Good, I was worried about Lindsey and I don’t think her lawyer was very good, I mean Johnny Cochran got OJ off for double homicide.
So rise above the hoi polloi Lindsey (“oh we were in the car when lindsey drove fast and now we can’t sleep” Babies)
Remember what Ani Di Franco wrote:
God help you if you are a phoenix and you dare to rise out of the ash
A 1000 eyes will smolder with jealousy while you were just flying
    past
la di da la la, so on so forth.

So fly high Lindsey the Phoenix!

  36. JaisyMaisy says:

The lawyer can only work with the material given…what did Lindsay give her to work with? Nothing!

Though I must say, she didn’t look terribly upset when Lindsay was sentenced to jail and started clinging to her for support…I kind of get the feeling the lawyer’s skin crawled, ’cause she didn’t seem impressed.

  37. JaisyMaisy says:

Also…Lindsay is most probably broke. How is she paying for her legal fees? Sounds like her attorney just escaped a sinking ship.

  38. Leek says:

Wow. She’s really ugly when she cries. As for the million dollars, I think it’s a dangerous amount to pay because it might give her the false hope that people care about her. We don’t. I just want to hear if she lets us know that someone finally handed her ass to her in jail.

  39. KLaw says:

Attorney-client privilege still exists, even when the client hasn’t paid.

  40. andrea says:

agree the lawyer looked over it in that sentencing hearing. there are rules about quitting a client in the midst of active legal issues – you can’t just quit on a client if there is some significant hearing or something coming up – im thinking the lawyer had to wait until after the sentencing hearing to quit and has been planning to do so for at least a little while. you also have to give a good reason for quitting, you can’t just say “i quit b/c i want to”- would be curious to know what reasons the lawyer cited.

  41. buenavissta says:

@Dina -oops I mean EzE: my friend’s ex took her and her kids for a similar terrifying ride and those kids needed therapy. Babies?! You have compassion for her but not for the people who were traumatized by her recklessness? Really?

I’m not rejoicing in her suffering (tho I am eternally grateful for whoever came up with schadenfreud-alicious ~beautiful! Pardon my spelling) but I have no problem with a grown woman facing the

    consequences of her actions.

  42. anon says:

@eZe: (first of all, Hi Ali/Lindsay/Dina!)

So the people she kidnapped are “babies”? What makes them babies? The fact that they didn’t enjoy being kidnapped? The fact that they want her to pay for the crime she committed?

If this tr8ck had kidnapped one of YOUR family members and subsequently, I don’t know, killed them due to driving erratically and over 100 mph, all the while under the influence of cocaine, I find it very hard to believe that you wouldn’t be calling for her to be brought to justice. (Yes, I realize that lindsay didn’t kill anyone [thank god] but I’m not sure what else you would consider serious, if kidnapping isn’t enough for you.) Or would that make you a “baby”?

And, uh, way to cite OJ there to really give yourself some credibility.

  43. ElizabethM says:

Who wants to bet the following *hasn’t* occured?:

“Lindsay, Gloria Allred is on the phone for you and wants to offer her legal services.”

  44. Did anyone else think she seemed high during her court appearance? It seemed she was almost falling asleep one second, then in floods of tears the next, then laughing the next. So strange.

  45. hellen says:

I actually think Lindsay/Dina fired the lawyer after she “failed” the poor little dear.

  46. CB Rawks says:

EzE, Lindsay must be so relieved that she has intelligent people like you in her corner.

  47. CB Rawks says:

Lindsay, Nadya Suleman’s on the phone.

  48. Sigh. says:

Multi-millionaire OJ had a TEAM of 9+ very highly paid, very prolific lawyers/experts (including F. Lee Bailey, Roberts Shapiro and KARDASHIAN, etc). Cochran was the front man, not the only man.

Lohan, on the other, failed to hold up HER OWN end of her bargain…for months. And in plain sight. Any moderately-paid lawyer can throw her a life saver, life line, life jacket, and a highlighted survivor’s guide, its up to dum-dum to swim and not drown. The judge made her intentions clear months ago, and trust, LL’s lawyer saw this decision coming a mile away, even if LL was/is in shock/denial. She probably was warning her all along to go to classes/rehab or got to jail.

And LL’s flying high like a phoenix is what got her here in the first place.

  49. katyalia says:

@ YT & Bellaluna: Same here. That night I intend to finally start ironing my guest handtowels…

I’m guessing that the lawyer is going to be the next person suing La Lohan for unpaid bills.

  50. Ruby Red Lips says:

EzE – most def Dina on the same delusion inducing drugs that Lindsay takes

You make me scared for this world with your crack outpourings over poor child Lindsay

    EzE = Complete nutcase!!

  51. Beck says:

EzE = Delusional. She has been flying high. That is part of her problem.

  52. mollination says:

Ugh, I’m glad you called out that quote too — “It’s everyone’s primal fear to go to jail.”

What? That doesn’t even make sense. A primal fear is death or harm …. jail!?!? What a moron.

  53. la chica says:

My theory is that Holley quit because of the professionally harmful implications of sitting next to a client with F-U written on her finger nail.

  54. teri says:

I don’t think she should give an interview. It will line the pockets of every lazy bum out there trying to sue her. Like that oh so famous speed chase where those men were terrified and peed themselves. lol

  55. Ursaline says:

How outstanding would it be if the only bidder was Dr Drew’s show, so that he could tell her to suck it up and act like an adult? 😀 I would so love to watch that the next day, after the crappy ratings have been counted.

And if there was anything left over, it will be easily split between legal fees and the other four people suing her for endangering their lives when she carjacked them and nearly killed them while cracked out of her entitled little mind.

  56. EzE says:

Okay I just read up on this alledged carjacking incident. On mtv.com, so it must be true. The GMC Denali belonged to Dante Nigro. The three men, including Nigro got into the car. Lindsay snatched the keys and hopped in the drivers seat.
Really? How many times have you gotten in YOUR car in a seat other than the drivers seat? Why wasn’t Nigro in the drivers seat? What did this 110 pound girl drag him out? Puhlease.
I’m sure the event happened and initially I thought of the three “men” as a bunch of nellies, as the great George Bluth would put it.
Now I think they’re just a bunch of skeevy hipsters trying to cash in on the only interesting thing that will ever happen to them in their skeezy lives.
We’ve all been in high speed car chases at one point or another, we didn’t need therapy over it.
    Rock on Lindsay!

  57. birdgherl says:

I will gladly do the entire 90 days at Lynwood for 1-2 mil.

  58. Lem says:

*don’t feed trolls* *DON’T FEED TROLLS* *don’t feed trolls*
*try to sound intelligent * *epic fail*
    dontfeedthetrollsdontfeedthetrollsdontfeedthetrolls

  59. mtngirl says:

At least she is getting a wake-up call before she kills herself, or someone else. Betting the lawyer quit because she was tired of putting up with constant pressure to get Lindsay off on all charges – because, of course, life isn’t fair for poor little Linds. Never mind the fact that almost everyone else would have been looking at 6 months plus jail time, revoked license, probation, community service, heavy fines, counseling, drug classes, and not being allowed to “travel” for “work” the way that Lindsay does.

Her mom, and dad, should be ashamed at the way they have turned a blind eye towards her behavior, and perpetuated the silly idea that she is still just a child. I hope she gets the help she needs and agree with Jaisy, she was actually pretty good in Mean Girls.

  60. DD says:

I believe the lawyer quit because Lindsay subtly insulted her in front of an audience, by saying that noone told her about the terms of her probation. Indirectly accusing the lawyer of not doing her job. If I were the lawyer I would sue her for loss of reputation. LOL. And I’m rooting for Lindsay to get better, but I must say that I felt sorry for the lawyer when Lindsay was making her pleas.

  61. bellaluna says:

I don’t know who you’ve been hanging out with eZe, but:

No, we haven’t “all been in high-speed car chases at one point or another.” That statement is patently untrue.

Good call by those who think her atty quit due to the way her client’s courtroom behaviour may reflect on her!

  62. Isa says:

I’m not surprised the lawyer quit. I bet Lindsay went off on her, blaming her for everything.

  63. Wresa says:

Actually, a lot of times lawyers in criminal cases do not work with clients during the appeals process, which is different from the trial phase, obviously. At my job, they tell me its because they are “not trial lawyers,” but maybe it is just about the $$$. I’m not really sure.

I think EzE is just effing with all of us. “We’ve all be in high speed chases…” That made me giggle. Cheers!

  64. Orbit says:

A media outlet should offer her the interview in exchange for $1m paid to the children of Morocco.

  65. Mia says:

I have no fear of going to jail. I only fear Donald Duck lipped, wig headed, store bought boobed, over the hill at 24 celebs running someone over while high as a kite, killing them, and going free. But that’s how I roll. Glad Revel agrees and she’ll have none of that on her watch.

I’m washing my hair that night too. Simple fact is she’s boring and she needs me watching more than I need to watch her. So I like not giving her what she wants, attention.

I don’t think the ratings will be all that high. If you yawned through Paris’s come to Jesus Larry King interview you know it’s just not worth it. Sign me up for that tell all lawyer or any assistant’s interview though.

And since I’m told she’s a looker but can’t see it I can never believe where her freckles are located. Even her balloon lips have freckles! If she could explain what’s happening to her face I’d watch. But alas, she’s not a doctor or scientist and charts and five syllable names for the injectables would be required to really tell that tale.

  66. I can’t believe it!!!! If reporters pay for this interview, then there is truly no repercussions for being a celebrity, they just keep getting off and doing whatever they please!!!! GEEEZZZ!!!!!!!

  67. Angel says:

Befriending Kim K might be good for her actually, as Kim infamously shuns alcohol and drugs, unlike most young *stars*. Never thought I’d say this, but … she could actually be a positive influence on Lindsey.

  68. Jazz says:

What would be so interesting about an interview? It’s not like she’ll be doing any real hard time anyway. She’s only going to use it for publicity. And about time the lawyer quit, she should of quit a long time ago.

  69. Dr_Venkman says:

Quote: […]where her mother was an assistant to real celebrities like Judy Garland.

While I agree that Judy Garland was a Star, she was also pretty f’ed up herself – maybe that’s where the low tolerance for Lohan’s behaviour comes from?

  70. bellaluna says:

I heard this morning that LL’s new lawyer truly is a “new lawyer” – she just recently passed the bar!

  71. TaylorB says:

I personally can not wait for the interview, I have been meaning to clean out the attic and the thought of having to see her justify all the nonsense will be just the motivation I need to stay the hell away from the TV for several hours.

  72. elaine says:

@ Sigh – Word. You get it, IMHO. Short & sweet.

  73. gg says:

I say they really should just skip the predictable denial interview. Look at Paris Hilton’s Larry King BS where she made up all this stuff about reading the Bible and he busted her. Delusional boring little tarts.

  74. Anti-icon says:

Checkbook journalism is a disgrace. No media outlet should pay for this addict’s ramblings. We’ll get it anyway–via all her sources. No jailhouse story about her is worth $1. Media outlets need to get clear on that.

  75. Kurt says:

What a sick country we live in, profiting from crimes.
We are in love with watcng train wrecks which Lindsay Lohan is.
The best punishment would be for her to get thrown in jail for a few years, have NO and I mean NO media attention.
When released from prison, No and I mean NO network, magazine or any media outlet buy her story or interview her.
If any company does interview her or buy her story or make her profit 1 cent then that Media Company should be blackballed by our society.
As much as we love to hate people like this and listen to their ridicluous “Look at Me” story the best revenge is to completely ignore.
As much as people in Hollywood act like they hate media attention they actually NEED it and thrive on it.
When it comes to idiots like Lohan the best revenge is to IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE.
You would be surprised how this will have a direct impact on their bank account.
Besides actors, actresses, sports figures etc., really do not contribute any true meaningful things to our society.
I believe we should pay more attention and buy stories from people that truly do good things for others.
In my opinion an organ donor should be given more recognition than a football player, or some idiot like Lohan
