Demi Moore to appear in Melbourne court, suing for photobooth pics in tabloid

Demi Moore, who regularly posts photos of herself in a bikini and with her family and friends on Twitter, is suing an Australian gossip magazine for publishing candid photos she took with her daughters at a photobooth set up at an Oscars party she co-hosted in 2008. She’s taken the case to court and will appear at a trial in Melbourne later this week.

Demi Moore is scheduled to personally appear in a Melbourne court next week for a legal battle over photographs published in a gossip magazine.
It is understood Moore will fly to Melbourne to give evidence in the Federal Court on Tuesday.

Moore is suing New Idea for printing a series of black and white snaps including herself, her daughter Rumer Willis, Orlando Bloom, P Diddy, Cameron Diaz and Amanda De Cadenet taken at an Oscars after party in 2008.

The photos show the celebrities hamming it up together in photo booth-style snaps.

The post-Oscars bash, organised by Moore and Madonna, was held at the Los Angeles home of the Material Girl’s manager Guy Oseary on February 24, 2008.

Moore lodged a claim in 2008 stating the magazine breached her copyright when it published the pictures on the front cover and on two pages inside its March 8 edition without her permission.

She says she has suffered loss and damage as a result of the publication.

According to the statement of claim, Moore spoke to event organiser Jeffrey Best at the party and the pair agreed that by paying for the photographs Moore would be assigned the copyright.

The trial before Justice John Middleton is expected to run for four-days beginning on Monday.

Other witnesses will give videolink evidence from Los Angeles.

The photos in question can be seen in this video, and there’s nothing particularly incriminating about them at all. There are some cute snaps of Rumor pulling faces, although Moore looks strange. She must be seething that she couldn’t personally approve the photos and never got paid for them. I’m surprised she didn’t either drop this lawsuit or settle it out of court. It’s been over two years, after all. This is typical behavior from her, though. At least this gives her a distraction from all the news and evidence that her husband is cheating on her.

Both Demi and Ashton have cooled down their tweets since the news broke about Ashton’s maybe-affair, which he didn’t directly deny. Are they going to work through it or will they split up, I wonder.

i think a split between demi and ashton is inevitable, but it’s gonna take a while. i think they’re both invested in being seen to have the hollywood-marriage-that-could.

  2. RHONYC says:

she’s so desperate to remain relevant it’s pathetic.

that look of hers is soooo tired.

she’s trying to compete with girls half her age to avoid the inevitable with ashton.

if she were smart, she’d hack off that witchy- lookin hair and go back to her ‘indecent proposal’ bob. better yet…her ‘ghost’ haircut.

    i bet she’d look 15 years younger…and less desperate. 🙂

  3. Jazz says:

Has she got nothing else to do? I guess not, considering she doesn’t have a career to worry about anymore! You’d think she would be suing Star since they are running stories that her husband cheated on her. Maybe it’s easier to sue an overseas tabloid than an American one.

  4. Bella Mosley says:

When it comes to Demi the only thing I want to say is: So What? Who cares?

  5. Electric says:

she looks like a total geezer in the pic with the iphone

  6. clare says:

She’s probably pissed that Rumer looks so much better than her in those photos!
Agree with Rhony- she would look younger without that long, stringy hair. Also, her boob implant looks hard and painful in that bottom photo.

  7. jen says:

Potato-head actually looks kinda cute in those photos.

  8. Johnny'sGirl says:

This is gonna be another hollywood blow out… cant wait to watch this.

  9. Shay says:

She hasn’t had any film work lately has she? She relies on Twitter to maintain her fame. Sad really. With all her cash, she can do something constructive for society. Then again, what am I saying? These La-La Brains from Hollywood aren’t really human are they, not with all that plastic inside them.

The Photo Booth images of Demi are shockers. She is probably suing because they were published without Photoshop!

  10. Cam says:

    I agree… she needs a new look.

  11. Rio says:

I might be the only person in the world who thinks Rumer is prettier than her mother. Demi looks utterly generic – ironic given the plastic surgery she hasn’t had (/sarcasm)
Despite the crap people say about her looks, Rumer always projects this level of self-confidence when she’s photographed that is utterly absent from her increasingly-desperate mother, and that in my opinion is darn beautiful!

  12. original kate says:

she needs to lighten up her hair a bit and cut it to around shoulder length. she is too old for such a harsh look.

  13. Chris says:

“i think they’re both invested in being seen to have the hollywood-marriage-that-could.”

Kinda like the Little Engine. 🙂

@Original Kate:I agree. Her hair is way too dark and it makes her face look older.
