This might be one of the strangest Brangelina stories ever. And that’s saying something! According to Us Weekly, Mindy Cohn – Natalie from Facts of Life – is godmother to Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt. For real? Allegedly, Mindy has been friends with James Haven and Angelina Jolie for years (thus, the above photos of Mindy and James from 2006), and Brad and Angelina thought she would be a good godmother…? Sure. Why not.
In one of those only-in-Hollywood connections, Facts of Lifeactress Mindy Cohn may be the godmother to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s twins Knox and Vivienne, 2.
You’re probably asking yourself – Mindy Cohn? How could Natalie from the 80’s show Facts of Life be connected to the world’s most fabulous couple? Well, according to a new report in US Weekly, the couple have secretly been friends with Cohn for years and she is a good friend of Angelina’s brother James Haven.
How did she end up being given the honor of godmother to the twins?
“Mindy is good friends with them,” an insider tells the magazine. “They even gave her a huge diamond ring to than her for being the godmother.”
The mag goes on to elaborate that Cohn was spotted wearing a big stone just months after the twins made their arrival.

Um… what about Tootie?!? No, I guess I could see this? Not really. I was going to make a crack about Mindy needing the diamond ring to hawk for rent money, but I just looked up her IMDB, and it seems that she’s primarily a voiceover talent these days, and that’s a pretty sweet, well-paying gig if you can get it. It’s good to know she’s still working. And that she has some kind of connection to the Jolie-Pitts…?
Minutes pass… okay, a little more research. Mindy and Brad both guest-starred on 21 Jump Street. Was a connection sustained between the two of them. Here’s another theory: George Clooney was on Facts of Life, and he introduced Mindy to Brad…? F-ck, I don’t know.
That is really funny maybe they can recruit Mrs. Garrett to watch the kids. Hollywood is weird.
I think it’s sweet. Mindy’s working. She’s not a media whore. She’s probably a really good, loyal friend. What’s so weird?

@flourpot you are right that it is also sweet but as someone who probably watched every Facts of Life episode 50 times as a kid Mindy & Angie aren’t people you would expect to know eachother picturing their conversations is a little bit odd.

That’s nice. You never see or hear about Angelina having any girl friends so it’s nice to think there is someone out there that she can count on. I know she’s rich and beautiful and I’m everything but, however, I can’t help but feel sad for Angelina’s lack of female friends. I wouldn’t know what to do without mine.

I wonder what exactly “godparent” means in this case. I’m Catholic, so we chose Godparents when my kids were baptized. Is it just a title, I wonder? Or are there some godparently duties involved?

Years ago, when I was spending New Years in San Francisco, I was at the St. Francis Hotel. My date and I were waiting for an elevator when out popped Mindy, Gary Coleman and Tootie. They were so drunk, and falling all over the place. Mindy looked at me and yelled in that drunk voice you get “Hey, outta my way, I gotta take a piss” It was so loud that the entire lobby, filled with New Years revelers stopped what they were doing and stared.

I don’t understand why people keep saying that Angelina doesn’t have friends just because you don’t see her with them every other hour. With a couple of acceptions, I don’t see a lot of celebrities with friends. I never see Gwen Stefani, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner with friends, only with their kids. Yet nobody ever say they don’t have any.

Mindy has always been a favorite, she’s a doll. However, I believe she’s Jewish and I don’t think they believe in Godparenting.

Us weekly claimed Brad gave Angie a pendant for her birthday a couple of years ago and the lady Tameka (I think) on Extra asked him about and he said they was made up.Btw Brad told Charlie Rose that Pax godfather was someone he worked with on CCOBB either the screenwriter or the director I think

No idea if this story is true, but I think its cute.
I’m a Catholic too and I too baptized my children in the faith with both a Godfather and Godmother who agreed to step in my absence and continue to “practice the faith with my children”. I sort of find this “godmother” thing kind of odd, if Mindy is clearly Jewish? Can Mindy be allowed to be a godparent when she is not of the same faith? Someone may need to clarify this for me?

I think that “she doesn’t have a lot of friends” story was misconstrued. She said she didn’t have a lot of friends with whom she could talk about her charity work, her politics, etc, NOT that she didn’t have a lot of friends. But of course people took that as “Angie has no friends!” and ran with it (and it could be true, but I totally read it as she doesn’t have the type of friends with whom she’d discuss that sort of thing.)

Pax’s Godfather is Eric Roth so yes the kids have godparents.. Madd’s godmother I think is a Dr.. not sure but whatever.
Angie never said she does not have friends. Read the quote in context. She said she does not have a lot of friends she talks to about her UN missions. She mainly talks to Brad. She has done many interviews where she has referenced her friends.. I don’t feel sorry for Angie. She has a partner she loves and who loves her.. 6 healthy children. A successful career and she is able to work or not when she chooses.. not bad. Plus if she was hanging out all the time with a gaggle of women she would be attacked for not spending time with her children or she and Brad would be breaking up for the 100,000th time because she puts her friends before him.
This magazine never gets it right so why would this be any different.
OT a bit..Knox is so freaking cute..he looks like Angie to me.. but I saw an old picture of Brad and I could see him in his father.. Boy those kids just morph depending on what parent they are with.

According to Usweekly .com Mindy was bragging she is the godmother to two of the JP kids but she didn’t say which 2 claims the ” insider” but since she was sporting a diamond ring in Sept 2008 it must be the twins since they were born in July.I’ll believe when Brad or Angie confirms it. They offer no proof that Brad or Angie has ever met her . The pic with James was taken at a premiere .Guests at premieres are always taking pics sometimes with strangers.I don’t trust anything in the tabloids.FYI Mindy is 44 born 5/20/66 per wikipedia
For me and my friends, this godmother thing has nothing to do with religion. I’m the godmother to a muslim girl and I’m buddhist UU. And I have a catholic and a muslim (the mommy of the child I’m a godmother to) who are godmothers to my daughter.

It’s really a term to express a role. The role of keeping an eye on the child, of sharing your beliefs with your child, of caring for the child spirituality, which is not the same as her RELIGION.
