Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony are fighting about her ‘Idol’ gig

You know what I love? I love when there’s a tabloid story about Jennifer Lopez that makes her sound like she’s the demure, passive one in her marriage. Do you buy that image of J.Lo? Does anyone? I will give it to Jennifer, though, she’s lasted a lot longer in her marriage to Marc Anthony than I expected, and I think he must have some hidden talents (hidden talents = shutting up and holding her purse). Anyway, this In Touch Weekly story could have been funny or tragic, but instead it just ends up being a marriage-affirming non-story. Apparently, Marc isn’t really happy that Jennifer got the American Idol gig – not that he’s not proud of her, he just hates that they’ll have to spend so much time in Los Angeles. But he’s willing to compromise:

Jennifer Lopez finally sealed the deal by signing a one-year, $12 million contract to be a judge on American Idol – but the career move is creating tension on the home front with her husband, Marc Anthony.

“Marc’s not terribly happy moving their family to LA for her gig,” an insider tells In Touch. “Marc was always adamant that they spend the majority of their time in NYC. He has a daughter [Ariana, 16, with ex-girlfriend Debbie Rosado] in New York, and his sons [Cristian, 9 and Ryan, 7, with ex-wife Dayanara Torres] are in Miami, so living on the East Coast is ideal for him so he can visit them often. Plus, all of his friends live in New York.”

However, the couple’s marriage has thrived on compromise.

“Marc is a very particular guy – he likes to keep his own hours and do what he wants, and Jennifer has been very accommodating to him,” says the insider. “She has flown all over the world with him on tour and gone to visit his kids. So of course she’s expect Marc to spend time in LA, because Idol is a big opportunity for her… he’s being more flexible than usual because he loves and respects her so much – but this is going to be a huge change in lifestyle for him. Marc’s just not an LA kind of guy.”

[From In Touch Weekly]

Yeah, he’d better compromise. Jennifer Lopez does Santeria. She’ll put a hex on your dick if you don’t come with her to LA. She’ll seriously f-ck with you, for real. No, I think this ended up being a sweet story – and God knows this move to LA probably won’t even be permanent. Who says Jennifer will be asked to stay beyond a year? Who says Idol will last more than a year?

By the way, if this is how Jennifer is going to be styled for every Idol episode, I might have to start watching. Because this is like turning your back on a horrific accident.

Whatever, for 12 million dollars I’d live in Antarctica for a year. Screw that.

  2. Lita says:

@Greenie, lol. Hell I’d take my ipod and work out the per diem, and hum.

  3. Maritza says:

She needs the money because her lifestyle is way over the top.

  4. AMS511 says:

who dresses her? can that person see?

ha yeah, $12 mil is pretty convincing.

  5. mel says:

12 mil is alot of money to pass up so he can go fly a kite, lol

  6. jen says:

I read a funny story about her yesterday that said her first husband wanted to audition for Idol & she has banned him from the show. LOL.

  7. bizzy says:

I read a funny story about her yesterday that said her first husband wanted to audition for Idol & she has banned him from the show. LOL.

Read that too, right after a story about her promising not to be a diva on the show.

  9. Yasmine says:

    @bizzy you’re hilarious!!! hahahahahahha!
I’m thinkin it may even be a wig.

  10. She has such beautiful hair, why did she wear a wig…she looks good with hair extensions too..that outfit she wore, she has such beautiful clothes..
    Jennifer…please try to look better.

  11. chasingadalia says:

Hmm. Alright, let’s work out that per diem…

Idol shows run mid-Jan to mid-May, so that’s 4 months. Plus, add a month (I’m being generous) for promotional crap and all that preliminary weeding out of contestants that they cover in the first couple of shows.

If five months is 150 days, then…

    Per diem: $80,000 USD

    Enough said.

  12. anon says:

    agree with @geenie: @mel: 🙂

  13. Trish says:

Never understood them as a couple. He has a great voice, but he is not that good looking and she usually goes for a good looking manly man.

  14. IngridK says:

It is really a good change for Idol… I think It will bring a lot of fans and new audience to Idol,., Good for Jenny and Good for Mark he is so cute and she is a beauty… Take care and get over it… LA is nice come to SF for the weekends…LUV you Both…and Congratulations…well done J L…:)

  15. Denizio says:

She or Steve Tyler shouldn’t be allowed to judge a dog fight.

  16. Jover says:

Says alot about her and her handlers that signing up for a sinking show is a big opportunity (though the dollars are nice.) Generally, when you mess with the original you screw up; the original judges were the best and they were given the time to develop the show; this cast is a joke. Remember, JHO is so disconnected her new single, released in the middle of a recession, was about ridiculously overpriced shoes. Does she even have much of a following in the Latino community; her self-absorbed, bitchy, diva ways are common knowledge. Too bad her husband’s a great singer, but he gains little associated with her. Just sayin.

  17. Jinko says:

What the hell is that on her head?

I think it is a “yak hat”. Looks ridiculous.

  18. Jeri says:

I can’t believe JLo can show up time anywhere on a regular basis.

Lots of DIVA stories to come.

  19. Jennifer M says:

I am the biggest Marc Anthony fan! Too bad he married the wrong Jennifer! Lol

  20. cprincess says:

Im still amazed that Jennfer Lopez, mediocre talent at best got signed for this and it does say alot about her manager Benny Medina who I believe she fired at one point a few years ago until she realised shes nothing without him…
Yeah-making her seems the submissive one is a joke although the word is that Marc Anthony is a total control freak tyrant type but theres no question that hes a huge talent and a big star in Latin music-my Cuban husband says most latino’s could care less about her
    Did anyone see El Cantante?
Marc Anthony was amazing as Hector Lavoe but she made her part way too big and basically ruined the movie!
AI is over anyway without Simon and Paula and if it wasnt before then it is now.
Steven Tyler is great but we need entertainment and character and humour-they should have given Paula the 12 mill-thats enough to keep her in vicodin and us entertained for the whole season!

  21. gale says:

    12 m$ please

  22. RHONYC says:

if i were her, i’d be dosing his food with gainer protein…on tha strength, yo!!!

    ey ma-rone! 🙁

  23. Elle says:

All this press about Jennifer and her personal life will continue until Idol stars in January and throughout the time she is there.

  24. Cinderella says:

Umm, don’t they have a mega mansion in the LA area? Wouldn’t they be there anyway?

  25. I Choose Me says:

@Trish. Check out this link for one possible reason why JLo’ stuck with Marc. http://socialitelife.celebuzz.com/archive/2006/03/28/marc_anthony_is_very_expressive.php

  26. I was just looking for this information for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your website. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that do not rank this kind of informative sites in top of the list. Normally the top web sites are full of garbage.
