These photos of Brendan Fraser are from yesterday, where he was apparently wandering around New York City as part of a photo shoot. I don’t really know why he would be doing press for anything – Furry Vengeance came out months ago, and he doesn’t have any films coming out any time soon. I guess it’s not important. What is important? Look at him. Remember when he used to be hot? Remember School Ties and Gods and Monsters? I even loved his performance in The Quiet American (an underrated film, worth watching just for Michael Caine’s performance). At one point, Fraser was going to be an excellent actor, in the vein of Harrison Ford, able to swing from drama to comedy to action film, excelling at everything. And then something went wrong.
Was it the hairline that went first? The midsection? Is it just that he’s a dad and he wanted to do a bunch of family films that his kids could watch? Was it the lure of easy money? I don’t know. But whatever happened, it was bad, and it’s all over him.
Am I being too harsh? Probably. After all, everything that I’ve heard and read about Fraser is that he’s a nice, professional guy. He’s never had crack shenanigans, no DUIs, no big drama. He’s just a guy who had a lot of potential who threw it all away for a safe, steady paycheck and some donuts. There are totally worse things. But I still can’t accept it.
That is what he looks like while doing a photo shoot?? His hair? that doofy smile? that horrible sweater? thoes 80’s jeans???? UGH
I do remember when he was hot, George of the Jungle, bad movie but geez his body could not have been better.
I adore him. He is a lovely man. He’s just fat happy daddy hot for right now. (:

Maybe he isn’t physically super hot any more, but by all accounts, he is a great dad/husband. That puts him ahead of tons of men in my book 🙂

The movie was kinda lame but you didn’t notice cause he was smokin hot! Sadly, age catches everyone sooner or later. Truth be told, nobody can have it all.
Back in the day, I thought he was one fine looking male, and a talented actor, too.
But trying to juggle all that with a viable family life is almost impossible.
So here’s to a guy smart enough to see through the myth, choosing to put time and effort into his family, and confident enough to accept his slightly puffy self with good humor. (Raising glass now.)
I knew him when he was 18 and a freshman in acting school in Seattle. He was gorgeous, but also the nicest, friendliest guy you would want to meet. I feel bad when people say mean things about him.
I think the sweater looks cozy. However, he does look like a dad and that is not hot, not hot at all.

anyway, yeah, school ties was just so great… there were a few of his movies that i loved but good for him for not living a life filled with crack-shennanigans!
He seems to always get that way in between films. No biggie – I still like him – makes him “normal”.

Some of his earlier films were SO good, and he’s a good actor. His current films have not been good, but maybe that’s all he’s offered these days, I don’t know. Either way, he does seem like a very nice guy.

It is hard for me to see him without dreamily visualizing his Golden Globe clap, though. Even after all this time, it puts a smile on my face every single time I replay it in my mind.

I first noticed him as hot in the movie “The Passion of Darkly Noon” with Ashley Judd and Viggo Mortensen. Very different kind of movie … very smoldering, and he was very good in it. And he was very hot in the Tarzan movies. He looks happy now, so good for him. He’s had a good career and likely has a fatter bank account than he ever dreamed of.
I don’t care what he looks like.

He may have made some cheesy movies over the years, but they all make tons of money (The Mummy series, Journey to the Center of the Earth, etc). Plus he still does some great dramatic stuff once in awhile, too (Gods and Monsters, Quiet American, Crash, etc)
I will always lust after him in School Ties, tho–playing a Jewish hottie in the 50s?? The 14yr old girl in me will always love that movie. 🙂

But I sure do love Brendan Fraser. I don’t care if he has a little weight, he looks happy and had a great smile. He’s always had this funny, goofy, cheerful air that I find appealing.
I was studying abroad in London when “Gods and Monsters” premiered in Leicester Square. My friends and I wandered over to check it out and just happened to arrive as the stars were exiting the theater. It was raining and Sir Ian McKellan and his date, Monica Lewinski, went right to their car. Pretty much everyone else did as well, but Brendan Frasier raised his suit collar and walked out into the rain to shake hands and sign autographs for everyone who was gathered there. He was really, really nice and took time with every single person. He posed for a photo with my friends and I. So while his career is crap, he was lovely.
If you say he has a pot belly you gotta go take a long look at your own self .
He could be hot again if he wants to work on it and jump on a treadmill . . The grandad sweater/80s jeans are a turn off.

His hot movie star days are pretty much over, now he can play the cool dad. It’s rare in hollywood to see an actor who looks his age, Brendan looks like a normal 40+ year old man unlike Tom Cruise.
Fifteen years ago, he looked like somebody I’d never want to be friends with. Now he looks like a nice guy I’d want to hang out with.
Oh my god. Put this man away. It’s okay to be overweight, but you can’t get hairplugs and have such a stupid haircut and wear a dad sweater in that god awful color. He needs a better stylist.
Always loved him, always will! I love “goofy dork” and he’s always seemed like he fit that bill to perfection! The hot bod and adorable face in his 20s/early 30s was a bonus, but he still looks like he’d be sweet, fun and a goofy dork, so I still love him! He’s still adorable!

I have always loved brendan fraser!! He always seemed like a really nice sweet dorky guy….that is just the sort of man that I adore. Yeah, he doesnt look sexy like he did 15 years ago but I admire him for aging bravely like an adult and not getting tons of plastic surgery like everyone else in hollywood. The only thing I dont like is how he has that thing going when people gain too much weight and their neck kind of disappears into their chin. If he lost like 10-15 lbs it’d be a lot healthier and he would look much better. My favorite movie of his is, sadly, “Blast from the Past” cause he has such good manners and seems like such a nice man in it and that’s always the way I’d thought he’d be in real life
