Below is the “music video” that Gwyneth Paltrow has deigned to take part in to promote her film, Country Strong, where she plays a character loosely based on Britney Spears’ weave. I think! No, Goopy is playing a washed-up, alcoholic country singer whose husband, Tim McGraw, is too busy boning her All About Eve-esque, younger, hotter replacement, Leighton Meester. Kind of like Kate Bosworth too? Low blow? Anyway, Goopy has a Brit-Brit twang, and she’s gonna use it, y’all. She’s also going to perform in Capri pants and flat-ironed hair for the video, because Goopy would never deign to adhere to Big Hair and Pageant Dresses (country standards).

I will give Gwyneth credit for having a strong voice. She’s a solid vocalist. But she’s not half the singer she thinks she is. I also think the studio probably wanted to do this music video more than Goopy – although I will f-cking die if they make her go on CMT or some country music awards show to promote her film. I would LOVE that. So much.

@mln. Duets. The movie itself was a little trite but Paul Giamatti and Andre Braugher performances were excellent. And yeah, Ms Paltrow’s got some decent pipes. Better than Kidman’s imo.

I have to say that she actually sounds country appropriate. And if you listen to the song without seeing the person it sounds like a typical country artist and song. Nothing original, but pretty.

Is there anyone less country than Gwyneth? And I disagree that she sounds like a typical country artist. Her voice is totally without distinction–which means she sounds like someone who can carry a tune and wants to sing country, but is never really going to make it because there’s nothing that makes her stand out.
So if she wants a music career, I guess it’s good that she’s already Gwyneth Paltrow. That’s the only thing that would get her there–she doesn’t have enough vocal talent.
i agree with katenonymous – goop’s voice is good, but flat and without emotion. i would rather listen to someone with an “imperfect” voice but who emotes like crazy, ie, billie holiday. that woman can reduce me to tears with her voice. goopy, on the other hand, can only reduce me to laughter with her hideous twangy country drawl.

I was reading this while taking a sip of coffee at work and the phone rang at the same time. I choked and started laughing as I answered the phone. I would pay money to see this. The thought of it is the funniest thing I have heard all week!
Saw the trailer for this movie and the supporting players will make that movie better. She is so bland and drains the life out of each scene she was in. Tim McGraw looks like he might be stealing that movie.
Come on – her voice is soooo much better than Taylor Swift. Swifty should go into acting & quit singing. Go Goopy!
The CMA Awards are next month so I wouldn’t be shocked if she was a presenter. Gwyn has a decent voice but she looks so stiff and uncomfortable in the video. The video just should have been scenes from the movie.
Oh, and the video now doesn’t play for American viewers, either–looks like it’s been taken down.

Tim baby (my secret boyfriend} WILL be stealing that movie. From the looks of the official movie trailer, this will be a good flick in spite of Gwinnie. The strong performances will carry her along.
I am dying to see this for Tim. I don’t like him in his country singer persona with the cowboy hats, but I LOVE him in the movies (like The Blind Side).
